Action is only good when fueled by story. Tell me does it really matter if the action is great, if you don't care about the characters? Tell me why is Die Hard so amazing? It's because you've fallen so in love with the character that you keep asking yourself "god damn that son of a ***** John McClane he'll take just about anything" Now we both know the story can be top thus the action can be better.

First off the main thing about TF is that all the action involves the Transformers so if they make a sequal for god-sake give characterizations to the transformers thus we'll care about them and root for them in a fight. Make us hate the decepticons, etc... So teh answer to both is YES!

Transformers was awesome, but mostly for scale and intricacy. The story and action could all be improved significantly, honestly.

For the Action, having more clearly defined weaponsets and clearer action with more intricate "special moves" perhaps even borrowing from popular action movies. Seeing the standard duck and cover action movies is so much cooler when you have giant robots doing it. Topping the robot on robot action, honestly, is easy... they haven't even scratched the surface of what can be done with the environment thrown in. Throwing cars? Swining telephone poles? Childs play. Where's the hopping from building to building, using livewires as whips and ripping up parts of the sewer? When do we take turrets from real tanks and fire them at attackers as though they were our guns? The action has PLENTY of room to grow.

As far as story, I agree... the bonds between and with the transformers were... light. There was little brotherhood betweenthem for all the throwing around of the word "brother," and improving those bonds can only improve the storyline. Especially when the integrate the Transformers mythos more deeply into the plot. The Ark and the Matrix of Leadership, for instance, could be awesome, and can play key parts in the film, as opposed to the war on Cybertron which has little significance in the Witwicky Saga... hardly even necessary for the 'origin' of the Transformers.

Who knows, but it's Completely Possible for BOTH to be better, just depends on if Michael Bay and the writers to know how to execute it (I am sure someone Masterful/Great like Steven Spielberg knows)

Easily. The plot was a thin as a piece of paper to be honest. Whilst the action was great it was too frantic and did not allow the viewer to follow all that was going on. I'd like to say good work to whoever decided to make most of the transformers grey in colour.

Characters have been introduced, enter Starscream: Commander of the Decipticons and a re-engergized Megatron (due to the allspark or some governmental tampering etc...)

Action will be easy to top, CGI is improving everyday (well it should be ;) ) and the studio will give the sequel a bigger budget....the story may come off as a rehash of the first...save the humans stuff blah blah...so that might be a little tricky

The action should be easy to top. All you've got to do is to actually show the fights and keep the camera on the Transformers. Prime got totally trashed, but me mostly just saw Megatron throw him. Or Bumblebee Vs. Barricade, they brawl a bit, then they cut to Frenzy, suddenly Barricade lies defeated on the ground.

They can both be topped, especially since they don't need to wait until halfway through the movie to fully introduce the Transformers this time. Allows for more story and action.

It depends on who they have doing the movie. If they possibly get someone better than Micheal Bay then, Yes, it is a good chance it will have better action and a better story. Basically, a better movie.

I think the main thing that they need to make sure they keep is the sense of AWE and WONDER that the first one has.
