Gamemasters/Assistant Gamemasters already chosen: byrd_man, as he's the only one I've really discussed the big details of the concept with.

How will the overall layout of the RPG be?: 2 GM's, with possible additions in the future, should the RPG become successful. It'll be mostly player controlled, with the GM's only coming in to enforce the rules and accept applications... however, the GM's will also offer advice on character backstories/changes, should anyone seek it. It'll be an ongoing, season-by-season RPG, similar in vein to the Ultimate DC RPG.

Premise of RPG, if it is a user created RPG see below for applicable additions to this Applicaton, (Must be a paragraph or longer):

PLEASE NOTE: This is a bit long, so try to be patient in reading it over. It's the general sypnosis of the history before the game's actual starting point, as I see it...

1961 sees America in heated combat aiding in the Vietnam war, sparking a worldwide depression and an overpopulation in poverty. However, hope is found when Colonel Nicolas Fury Sr. drafts in the young and brave cadet Steven Rogers to lead the American army with a fullproof plan to end the war in favor of America and it's allies. But when the Soviet leader, a war tactician by the name of Johaan Schmidt, enters the fray with an army of his own, and a supply of unpredicted nuclear weapons, Rogers makes the ultimate sacrifice in protecting his troop as he launches himself onto the missile Schmidt attempts to detonate and use to destroy the American allies. The missile explodes, sending Rogers into the Artic sea and freezing him there for a period of more than 40 years.

With Private Rogers presumed dead, but his sacrifice marked as the testament of true heroism, his example brings forth inspiration in the most bizzarre forms. Young Peter Parker, a college student of Queens, New York, is subjected to a set of amazing spider-like powers, embarking him on a quest for personal fame and, ultimately, a true lesson in responsibility. The billionaire electronics mogul Anthony Stark, owner and CEO of Stark Technologies, is caught in crossfire with Al-Quedian troops that attempt to seize his weapons' empire in a branch located in Iraq, which sets Stark on the path to, ironically, becoming Invincible. Young Matt Murdock, the son of a priestess catholic and championship prize fighter, graduates law school and makes history as the first blind graduate to excell in as many fields as he does, but takes a new path once true justice cannot be found for himself in the courts he once believed in.

As these events take place, other, less inspiring and perhaps even horrifying transformations occur. Victor Von Damme, inhertier to the embassy of Latveria, a third world nation, is horrifically scarred when conjuring up unknown forces in attempt to save his mother from death, leaving the young man looking for revenge against the world as a whole. Psychiatrist and world renowned speaker Doctor Otto "Octopus" Octavious is kidnapped and put through a bizarre string of tortures that involve grafting monstrous limbs to his body, in attempt to drive the good doctor mad... This fails, however, when Octavious becomes obsessed with improving upon the arms, eventually conquesting for ultimate power. And perhaps the most threatening to the world lies within the mutanary figurehead Erik Magnus Lehnsherr, who has decided to declare war on humankind for their years of mistreatment to the mutant race.

All the while, Commander Nick Fury Jr. seeks to continue his father's legacy by starting a global espionage and intellegence agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., where their newest recruit and mascot comes from the most unlikeliest of places... the frozen tomb of Private Steven Rogers.

Heroes. Villains. Allies and enemies. Superpowered and monstrously transformed. 2007 sees the dawning of a new age. The dawn of Marvels.


Essentially, going off of a mindset used when I intially started the Ultimate DC Universe RPG, this is my answer to the Marvel Universe with that same concept: Creating, and playing your own twists and versions of Marvel Characters in a freshly started enviroment, building character reputations as you see fit, without the need for following past continuity that isn't user created.

Players would be free to introduce their own concepts and ideas to each character, though they'd have to remain at least somewhat faithful to their core. (IE: No giving Spider-Man a new secret identity alias, such as "Alex Ketch", or something. He'd have to be Peter Parker, and have an Aunt May, ect. But beyond that, you could do anything you wanted.)

And, also to note, the ideas I presented above are not nessacarily required to be followed. They're just ideas, pretty much setting examples of the kind of liberties one can take with a character.

What will this RPG bring to the RPG forums? (please write two complete sentences): I think, overall, the RPG would give players a chance to be really innovative and unique with characters in the Marvel Universe, as opposed to having to follow the continuities set in motion by Marvel themselves, with 616 and Ultimate. These are characters that are obviously beloved by alot of us here... so, I think with this RPG, it'd give us a chance to admire them on a more personal level, as they'd have our own spins and twists on them.

Think of it as the political and socio world of today. Post 9/11, Bush is prez of US. Whoever that guy is that took over for Tony Blair in England is PM.

Anything you want it to be. There's no pre-established continuity for him, or anyone, for that matter. The history above is just an example of how people can change their characters... it doesn't actually have to be followed, if one doesn't want to. (Though it'd be nice if it was)

Character You Would Like To Play: Doctor Victor Von Doom

Powers: Doom is a non-enhanced human being. However, he is a brilliant engineer and physicist, with a great deal of knowledge in various other fields. He is also an acomplished mystic, well versed in various mystical philosophies and orders, including Thelema, Wicca, The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, and others. As such, he is capable of divination, summoning and expelling spirits and mystical entities, exorcisms, and astral projection. As a part of his religious practices, he keeps in excelent physical condition, and is a skilled hand to hand combatant. He wears a suit of powered body armor of his own invention, granting him protection from small arms fire and enhanced strength and speed. It has taser circuitry woven into it, giving him a "shocking" touch when he needs to. He also carries a Walther P22 Target on his person at all times, with the exception of, of course, diplomatic meetings.

Basic History Of The Character (Up until this point): Victor Von Doom was born in a small village located near the capital city of Latveria, Doomsdadt, to the local village doctor and his wife, a fortune teller and one of the few remaining gypsies in Latveria. As the school system in Latveria was flawed (to put it mildly), he was schooled at home. From his father, Victor gained a great deal of respect for the power of science, and from his mother, he gained an interest in religion and spirituality. However, his education was cut short when the Latverian secret police killed his parents. His father, you see, had been involved with several anti-fascist movement. Nothing violent, simply protests and debates, but the government wasn't particularly fond of any disobediance, and, added that the Von Doom family were the last remnants of the old, English descended aristocratic family who once ran the country, and that the government just doesn;t really like gypsies, it was enough for them to go in for the kill.

Becoming an orphan, Doom drifted through the streets, eventually getting noticed for his brilliance and getting a scholorship at Empire State University in America. There he met and befriended Ree Richards and Ben Grimm. Whule studying at ESU, Doom began experimenting with the possibility of communicating with the dead. Inspired by several paranormal accounts, he spent months reaserching. Finally, he asked Reed's help in building the machine. However, Doom made a mistake with the wiring, and the device exploded, causing Doom to be scarred in the fire. When the Dean investigated, Reed opted not to cover for Doom's mistake, feeling that he needed to be responsible for his own actions, and Doom was expelled.

Doom spent the next several years wandering Asia and Europe, eventially finding a small temple in the mountains around Latveria. There, he expanded upon his mystical and scientific skills, and forged a crude version of his now famour body armor. He went into Doomsdadt, and became a major revolutionary icon, eventually overthrowing the fascist regime and declaring himself king.

Expect some plots that are a little less James Bond and a little more WWIII. So, armies of Doombots and crazy steampunk weapons.

Character You Would Like To Play: The Black Panther

Powers: T'Challa possesses no superhuman abilities. However, he is an excelent athlete and a skilled hand to hand combatant. His main area of combat expertese, however, is stealth and geurilla warfare. He is also well versed in metalurgy, electronics, and engineering, and makes most of his own weaponry. He wears a specially deigned suit, combining the ceremonial warrior garb of the King of Wakanda and various modern upgrades of his own design. The suit is linned with Vibranium, making it bullet proof and lessening the sound he makes when he walks. The gloves have retractible claws, enabling for better climbing. He carried a collapsable staff for hand to hand combat, several throwing knives, and a handful of explosives on his person. He also carries a blowgun with several sedative darts. As his combat style heavily relies on stealth, he usually simply hits someone witha dart and waits for them to lose consciousness before tying them up. His mask is also equipt with micro night vision lenses of his own design.

Basic History Of The Character (Up until this point): T'Challa was the youngest son of T'Chaka, King of Wakanda and holder of the warrior title "Black Panther." Years ago, a European scientist names Ulyssese Klaw requisioned the Wakandan government to use samples of their main economic export: The rare metal known as Vibranium. However, T'Chaka refused the request, mostly due to the number of murders that Klaw was suspected for in Europe. Months later, when T'Challa was barely ten, Klaw led a small group of mercenaries at one of Wakanda's refineries to steal the Vibranium. T'Chaka and his sons were there that day, and T'Chaka tried to defend the refinery. Klaw killed him. In a fit of rage, T'Challa grabbed his father's knife and cut off Klaw's hand. Klaw almost killed T'Challa, but was scared of by oncoming Wakandan reinforcements.

Shortly afterwards, T'Challa's elder brother, Jakarra, at the time 18, ascended to the throne. Jakarra's greed and corruption quickly became aparrant, and he began forming alliances with the local criminal orginizations. Rumor has it that he even secretly made a deal with Klaw, saying that he would leave Klaw's criminal orginizations alone as long as he got a cut. Fearing for what her eldest son would do to her youngest, N'Yami, the Queen Mother, sent T'Challa away to boarding school in America. There, T'Challa planned to overthrow his brother.

While persuing his academic studies, he also trained in hand to hand combat and the use of weapons. He initially intended to enroll at a camp for private commando training, but, while atending Empire State University, he met an old, homeless blind Ninjitsu expert and his equally blind student, and trained with them, trying to stay as far below the radar as possible.

With the news that his mother was dying of an unexplained illness, he returned home and stayed at her bedside until she died. He then told his brother that he was staying in Wakanda, and became a science teacher in the public school system. One night, he stole the ceremonial warrior garb of the Black Panther and customized it for his own uses. He is now acting as something of a vigilante in the inner city slums in the capitol of Wakanda, while trying to construct a plan to root out the corruption on his country, get revenge on Klaw, and overthrow his brother. He's got alot of work to do.

Four men walk silently along the dark city streets. As they walk, they give the impression of being quite carefree, as if they've no worries in the world.


Just today, they have raped and savagely beaten three women.


Suddenly, they hear a low, beastly growl eminating from the shadows of a nearby alley. One of them takes out his gun and slowsly walks towards the alley.

"<What are you doing?>" says one of his companions.

He doesn't respond, and walks into the alley. As he does, he hears a slight "WHOOSH" like sound, like a small, short, yet powerful wind. He looks around him. There is nothing there. He turns back to his fellows.

"<What was that about?>" asks one of them.

"<Nothing>" he says. "<I heard something. Thought it was...>"

"<The Black Panther?>" asks another.

"<Yes>" he says.

"<Oh come on!>" says his first friend. "<You don't honestly believe that crap, do you? The panther king died over ten years ago.>"

"<But there have been all these sightings of the Black Panther. What do you make of that?>" he says.

"<Just the wishful thinking of a bunch of poor, superstitious morons. Plus maybe a few idiots going along with it, playing dress up, and getting into a few fights>" says his friend.

"<I've heard that it's the Panther God himself, angry at Wakanda for becoming so corrupt>" says the third man in the group.

"<There is no Panther God>" says the first man.

"<How can you say that?>" says the fourth man.

"<I'm an athiest>" the first man says. "<That's how."

One of them mean reaches into his pocket for a cigarrette.

"<You may say that now>" he says, "<but just you wait....>"

He dropps the cigarette and suddenly clutches the back of his neck. He begins breathing very hard and walks around as if quite drunk. The then falls over.

The first man walks over to him.

"<What the hell...?>"

Suddenly, the other two clutch thier necks as well. Moments later, they fall to the ground. The last man standing takes out his gun.

"<What the ****'s going on here?>"

Suddenly, he hears a voice from the alley behind him.

"<You're an athiest?>"

He turns around, only have the gun pulled from his hand and his finger broken.

"<That's quite unfortunate...>" says the voice from the alley. The dark figure pushes the man to the ground and walks towards him. The man looks up, and sees, standing over him, The Black Panther.

"<....because right now, I would suggest praying.>"

I actually do plan on hacing T'Challa meet Luke. Although, he and Luke aren't going to get along very well. But I've got much bigger plans for Doom, so even if I don't play T'Challa, I'm happy.
