Which show do you like better? Justice League has better animation, but I still prefer Superfriends even though they had a lot of lame asses like The Wonder Twins and their monkey, and Wendy, Marvin and wonder dog.

I voted for Justice League, because the stories are better, and the animation is better, but there's no way the Justice League is going to be the Superfriends theme song.

Is this even a contest? Justice League of course!

While I voted for Justice League this is like comparing apples and oranges. The cartoons are guided by the times, they had to include a comic relief to get parents to let children watch such animated violence. Now a days I'mn surprised we don't have people getting killed graphically on cartoons.

Oh wait I forgot about Aname' oh well i still dig it!

Well that doesn't explain warner bros cartoons or tom and jerry which was very violent. If anything Superfriends would be more suited for today's cartoons. I loved it as a kid but let's face it, it was lame. All one has to do is compare the early 80's Superfriends to such up and coming cartoons like Spiderman and his amazing friends and Transformers to tell the difference.

Superfriends sucked! Justice League even did a fairly good remake of the horrible "Ape City" Superfriends storyline.

Justice League. Better Name. Better Characters. Better Stories. Better Personalities.

Aquaman isnt a wimp. GL is Stewart (best GL ive seen). Flash has the good wise cracker personality. Superman isnt a boy scout. Batman isnt agreeable. Hawkgirl is a tomboy. Wonder Woman is tougher. Manhunter is in it and awesome.

Oh justice league by far! It is so much more mature! Superfriends is great, but sometimes it's nice to see something with a believable plot!

JLA all the way. But let's not forget the Superfriends for it led the way to many other projects such as the SuperPowers Team. remember eh??

Firestorm ..Cyborge. Those were good stories because Darkseid finally came out.

I say we need a new cartoon channel to air all the old Saturday morning shows from when we were young. Hopefully I would not feel too pukey before it's all over.

While I admit that I am still a huge Superfriends fan, I prefer the Justice League better. I'm not going to crack on the old Superfriends cartoons because I really enjoyed them as a child. That cartoon was the reason I got into comic book heroes in the first place. I still watch Challenge of the Superfriends, Legendary Superpowers, and Galactic Guardians when they come on Cartoon Network. They were a bit cheesy but they are still fun to watch just for a bit of nostalgia.

lets see ill take batman for instance. Oh no i'm traped in a net. Must use gay anti cutting mechanism now show me your legs that are naked robin.

jl approach. batman again in same scenario. batman having the life beat out of him gets tied up. Then talks to the 2 villians saying he doesnt respect you and he wants more money. The 2 villains fight while he carefully take out a pocket knife and escapes.

Justice League trumps the Superfriends in every way. It's reflective of the times, though. Cartoons weren't expected to do anything other than provide short bursts of entertainment back in the '80s. There was no subtext, there was no plot or character development. Just small, self-contained, 30-minute blocks of adults trying to entertain kids with familiar characters. The whole game has changed today, thanks in no small part to shows like JL and Batman: TAS. All things considered, I'm glad I was still in diapers when the Superfriends were on. Better left in the past.

However, Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends kicks ass to this very day. ;)

Only if it's the newer ones (the entire group). I hated the first episodes when it was only: Superman, Batman/Robin, Wonderwoman and Aquaman and Wendy/Marvine and Wonderdog. I guess I hated those episodes mainly because of Wend/Marvin and WonderDog.

Super Friend's has to be one of the worst comic book cartoons ever. I'll cut the show a litle slack because I know hanna barbera had money probs but still.. Silver Age DC sucks.. I wouldn't even know where to start so I'll let Sean baby rag on it for me.

This is EXACTLY how I feel about the show.

Justice League is part of the DCAU, one of in my opinion the greatest animated saga's ever (yes, you hear me right Dragon Ball fans).

Althought its part of an saga, the show stand's on its own as an amazing show. The show just blows me away, ever time i watch an episode if its either JL or Unlimited. Superfriends in comparison is very campy and dated and doesn't really have the character development, animation or heart of JL.

While Supefriends struggled to find things to do with it many heroes, the brilliant team behind JL (Bruce Timm, Dwayne McDuffie) created ingaging story that focused on the characters, and what made them heroes (Twylight pt1 1 & 2, A Better World pt 1 & 2, Tabula Rasa , pt 1 & 2).

When the show became Unlimited, we saw new characters introduced, but most importantly we got an amazing 2 season long arc that, had the league facing a different enemy Cadmus. This arc was darker, more grown up and much more interesting than any villian that dressed up in a stupid costume. It delt with the same principle that appeared in "A Better world", just how far are heroes willing to go to make us safe, would they kill? Take away our free will?

Yes, as you can see from my extensive case, i believe JLU to be not only one of the best shows in the DCAU, but perhapes the best animated show of current times.

I never thought Superfriends was good in the first place, much like I think most pre-1990's cartoons aren't good. Besides shorts like Looney Tunes and Pink Panther, I think a lot of shows just weren't good at the time and in retrospect. I think Justice League is better than Superfriends, it's no contest. However, I still think the 1990's was a time when you had the greatest mass of good cartoons, that definitely has waned these days as you have a few diamonds in a sea of coal.

Justice League. You can't compare one of the best made cartoons in history with a thirty year old cartoon that was bad in its own time, not to mention now.

Don't get me wrong, I still love Superfriends. It holds a certain sentimental value.

Hands down the JL/JLU. The Superfriends is a sacriligious insult to comic fans everywhere. It really (IMO) represents the worst in comic character camp. It did not take the characters seriously, and there were no character arcs or character development.

Granted, when I was little I watched it, but I have to echo the others. It doesn't stand up well over time, and it really is poorly done with regard to the characters and the action.

Bruce Timm and his supporting cast performed a great service by making the attempt to exorcise the ghost of the Superfriends by making the JL/JLU. They took the characters seriously, and the storylines. They respected the characters as well as the intelligence of the fans, and made a program that kids and adults can hold their head high and say, "I watch it".

In teaching courses in Cultural Diversity and Philosophy and Ethics at the university level, I have used episodes of the JL/JLU to illustrate points that reflect the times. The students are quite impressed in a way that is seldom seen. They learn and they learn by watching a great program that illustrates the points with characters who are to be respected appreciated in a modern sense with applications of today.

I'm a little surprised by all the hate towards superfriends. Sure, JL is great, but I just can't let myself pick one over the other. And I definately can't say anything bad about the superfriends. That was one of my gateways into comics, and probably where I learned of those characters for the first time. And when I was little, there was nothing I wanted more than a Green Lantern ring...Hal Jordan's been one of my favorite characters ever since....

and I still want a damn power ring....
