Yeah, my room is pretty dirty. Maybe if I'm not too tired after work I'll come home and clean. Its suppose to rain all day today and for the next few days, so it sounds like a pretty good time to clean. Also, this is pretty much it for my collection for the next four years. I'm getting ready to go to college and I probably won't be able to afford much of anything aside from continuing my comics collection. I'm pretty happy with what I have so far though, and I really enjoy it all.

Today was a good day. I just got the following stuff in the mail:
Superman Up, Up, and Away (4 Action Comics issues and 4 Superman issues)
Tumbler Alarm Clock (cooler than I thought it would be)
Batman Returns Soundtrack
Batman Dual bladed knife
I'm not really into collecting knives or anything, I actually use to think it was kind of creepy, but it was batman themed and it looks pretty cool. Its only really for display and I'll probably use it as a box cutter as well.
I'm also waiting for The Batman Motion Picture Soundtrack (not the one with the songs from Prince, but the actual score from the movie), a single cd from R Kelly from Batman and Robin, and a complete run of gotham knights that I got for a little under $50.
I'll take pictures later.

lol I was watching one of those food network challenges. The theme of the challenge was the Simpsons Movie, so all of them were baking simpsons themed cakes.

I just got the hot wheels "gotham city" 5 pack from target today. It is the rare version with the GCPD car rather than the batcycle thing. I was pretty excited and I was actually only looking for the 2007 new models batmobile.
My mom's boss, who also use to be into comics, recently gave me two Batman:TAS posters. They are pretty awesome and I had never seen them before. I'll take some pictures in a little while.
I love the putting the comics on the wall thing I use to have a friend who did that with his comics too.

Amazing.
How long have you been collecting and how much would you say all of that is worth?
Billabong7329
08-08-2007, 11:02 PM
I've only recently started collecting, only about two years ago actually. I've gotten most of the comics (that are on my wall at least) from ebay.
The thing that started this all was actually my sister suggesting I decorate my room with something. I thought for a while and decided comic books would be something cool to do that with. I had always liked batman as a kid, but I wasn't really into comics. So for my birthday my sophomore year in high school (I'm just about to start my freshman year in college) my dad bought me a set of 150 comics for about $50 off of ebay. Ever since than I've been buying more and more stuff on ebay (Full LODK set, full Gotham Knights set, etc) as well as buying stuff I see at stores.
Its a lot of fun to collect something you know you'll never really complete. There is just so much stuff to get and you always find something new. I really enjoy it.
I also have no idea how much I've spent. I would guess everything I own total would probably be worth ~$2,000, but I'm really not sure. If I sat and thought about it I could probably come up with a better estimate, but I rather not as I would probably be shocked at how much I spent, lol.

I won't be able to take any new pictures until I go back home for thanksgiving, but I'll make sure to do that.
Also, those are water bottles, not coke lol. I just drink a lot of water and kind of just throw them in a corner. I use to make pyramids with them until I had too many then I'd throw them away. I dunno, I'm just odd I guess.

There in a sleeve with a backing board on it, will putting it in a cardboard box really make all that much of a difference?

Yep. Light is the worst thing for comics. Light, dust and air. There really not much you can do about air, but the other two you can keep out! :cwink:
Billabong7329
11-08-2007, 09:19 PM
But doesn't the sleeve protect from the dust?
I can pretty much guarantee that once I move out, I won't be doing this again. But until that day comes I will probably leave them up. I'll only be home during breaks between semesters so the light in my room is never really on since I'm gone. Heck, I usually don't have the light on even when I am in my room.
Thanks for the advice though. I'm not arguing with you BTW, I'm sure you're right. I just don't want to take them down yet as it took so long to put up. Plus, I don't have any more boxes, and I don't wish to purchase any at the moment.

I FINALLY found some of the wave 4 DC Superhero figures in stores. All Target had was Nightwing and Bruce Wayne to Batman, so I snagged them both.

I know man, I've been looking for them EVERYWHERE. Any time I go into a store that sells toys I will go and check for them. I even have my family back home check for me when they go shopping, and this is the first time I've seen them. At my local TrU they actually got in 3 of the 12" Batman figures as well as the normal and variant versions of the Batman/Robin two pack.
I actually already have the 12" Batman figure, and I couldn't justify the purchase of the Batman/Robin two pack. I have to save up for Christmas gifts and I couldn't bring myself to buy it. The Wave 4 figures I found at Target was different though, those things sell for WAY more online than they do in stores, so I HAD to buy them.

I actually bought both versions of those TRUs Batman and Robin 2 packs. I loved the packaging and also liked the variant Robin color. That was the first time that I did an impulse buy on a Batman toy in a very long time. I agree with you on the 12", I also have the original one, and couldnt see spending the money on just a simple repaint. At least with the 2 packs, there was cool packaging.
I have pretty much given up on the DCSH line. I wont go "hunting" anymore because 97% of the time there is no new stock on the shelves, and gas is still too high to just run it out for no reason.

Yeah, I never go out JUST to look for the items, but when I am out I definitely check.
I always get so frustrated when looking through stores though. Marvel has SO MANY products of all kinds, and DC has virtually nothing. Even with toys, where one would assume they would have an equal quantity of items in stores, DC still falls WAY behind. When I go into places like TRU and Target and what not, I usually see about a 4:1 Marvel to DC ratio of toys.
Billabong7329

I found three other DC Superhero figures while out shopping yesterday. I saw the Bane, Joker, and Batman figures. I was only able to get the Bane figure however. I wanted the Joker and Batman figures, but I couldn't warrant waiting most likely two hours in line at Toys R Us for the two figures. I'm excited that I'm actually starting to see them places now.
On Another note, I saw the 12" Batman at two different TRUs (Lafayette, La and Friendswood, Tx) So if anyone is looking for that, you might want to check out Toys R Us.

Impressive collection Billabong. Just curious if you've seen the custom Batman movie figures going on Ebay for about $250.00 to $300.00. Something about them looked familiar to me, especially with the cowl and face sculpts. I figured it out. These customizers have been making molds of foreign Batman model kits and using the heads and chest pieces to build up a standard 12 inch figure. Pretty pricey considering the cost is not that much to the maker. I was just curious if you had seen them and what your thoughts are on figures of that sort. I myself have been collecting Batman figures and other characters since the 70's. Everything from Captain Action to the latest Batman Begins figures. I have five of the RC Mego Batman's (two in boxes). Do you have any Megos in your collection?
Billabong7329
11-25-2007, 12:46 AM
No, I actually haven't seen any of those figures on ebay. Do you have any links to current auctions, or maybe a picture of them? I haven't been on ebay much lately since I'm away at college. Over the Christmas break I'll probably have a chance to check stuff out more.
I actually don't have any custom figures. I never really even searched for any on ebay, or anywheres else for that matter. I'm always kind of worried that the quality won't be that great or something. Also they usually cost more than I want to spend.
Nope, I don't have any Mego's in my collection. I've only been collecting the past two-three years or so. I haven't really gone about trying to collect figures. If I see something cheap, or a good lot at a reasonable price, than I will buy it. But usually when I look on ebay I'm trying to find comic runs.
So far I have full runs of the following:
LODK ( I have EVERY issue that I know of, annuals and specials included)
Gotham Knights ( I think I'm missing about five issues)
Azrael (all but an annual or two I think)
Batman Adventures ( all but one)
those are the only complete (or close to complete) comic runs I have. I'm interested in completing the Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, Catwoman (V1/V2), Shadow of the Bat, Batman (back to 400 at least), Detective Comics (back to 600 at least), Batman Chronicles, GCPD, etc. I really want to collect the full runs of the comics dealing with the bat family. Once I start completing some of those runs, then I think I'll probably delve more into the collecting figures.
Do you have any pics of your collection? You should make a thread if you do.
