OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A movie slated to star actors Casey Affleck, Kate Hudson and Jessica Alba will be filmed in Oklahoma beginning March 23, a local casting director said Wednesday.

Scenes for "A Killer Inside Me" will be shot in Oklahoma City, Guthrie, Tulsa, Cordell and surrounding areas, said Chris Freihofer, who operates Freihofer Casting in Norman.

Freihofer will recruit local actors and extras for the film, which will be directed by Michael Winterbottom.

Jill Simpson, director of the Oklahoma Film and Music Office, declined to comment on the project, pending approval of the movie's producers.

The movie will be a crime thriller based on a 1952 novel by Jim Thompson, who was born in Anadarko in 1906. The storyline involves a likable rural deputy sheriff, portrayed by Affleck, who has the mind of a murderous psychopath.

Thompson also co-wrote the screenplays for two films by Stanley Kubrick, "The Killing" in 1956 and "Paths of Glory" in 1957. He died in 1977.

“Crips and Bloods: Made in America” tells the story of Los Angeles’ two most infamous African American gangs and includes the street-level testimony of contemporary and former gang members. According to the film’s website, it offers “a message of hope and a cautionary tale of redemption aimed at saving the lives of a new generation of kids, not just in South LA but anywhere in the world that gang violence exists.”

New Line celebrates 'Valentine's Day'



New Line is putting together an all-star cast for its latest romantic comedy, "Valentine's Day," to be directed by Garry Marshall.

Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Garner, Shirley MacLaine, Bradley Cooper and Ashton Kutcher are in final negotiations to star in the movie, which has five slightly interconnecting stories playing out during a Valentine's Day in Los Angeles.

A scorecard may be needed to keep track of the story lines:

-- Roberts is an army officer on leave from Iraq on a flight to L.A. Cooper, on the same flight, is a gay man whose lover is a closeted football player.

-- Kutcher is an owner of a flower shop who proposes to his girlfriend (Alba), only to realize he is in love with his close friend, played by Garner, who discovers her boyfriend is married.

-- MacLaine plays Roberts' mother, a happy retiree who reveals to her husband a long-ago affair.

-- Hathaway is an assistant working at the biggest talent agency in town and dating a mailroom assistant; Biel is a publicist unlucky in love (is there any other kind?) who has no date on Valentine's Day.

Major roles still to be cast are the gay football player, MacLaine's husband, the mailroom worker, a talent agent and a young boy looking to give his crush some flowers.

Mike Karz is producing along with Wayne Rice.

Sam Brown and Michael Disco are overseeing for the studio. Katherine Fugate wrote the initial draft, while Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein penned the latest.

New Line had success with its recent ensemble romance "He's Just Not That Into You," but "Valentine" is more ambitious in scope and cast. The project, which could be compared to "Love, Actually," has already upped the budget from its initial $25 million to the mid-$30 million-dollar range, though New Line would not comment on the dealmaking or the budget.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Simon Baker, star of the hit series "The Mentalist," is playing an attorney on the trail of a murderer in "The Killer Inside Me," Michael Winterbottom's adaptation of the Jim Thompson noir classic that stars Casey Affleck.

The story centers on a West Texas sheriff (Affleck) and his downward spiral from bored small-town cop to ruthless, sociopathic murderer. The cast includes Jessica Alba as a prostitute and Kate Hudson as the sheriff's schoolteacher girlfriend.

Baker plays a county attorney trying to expose the sheriff as the killer.

The adaptation was written by Robert Weinbach and John Curran, director of "We Don't Live Here Anymore" and "The Painted Veil."

Baker, a native of Australia, plays a private investigator with psychic abilities on CBS' "Mentalist," a breakout hit of the 2008-09 television season.

Filming for the movie “The Killer Inside Me”, in which Jessica stars, started filming in Oklahoma today. The cast and crew will spend about 3 weeks filming in Guthrie, OK and then move to other locations in OK, including Cordell, Enid, Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

"A lot of our locations are based in and around Guthrie, and then also there’s quite a lot of stuff in Oklahoma City as well,” said producer Andrew Eaton. "There are always little details of tiny little scenes in alleyways and things that are always the last ones to get nailed down.”

The first four days of shooting was down in New Mexico and is completed. Filming in Oklahoma is set to wrap up on June 26.

Lollogbrigida wore a caftan-inspired number of her own creation; Selma Blair was radiant in bedazzled bubble-gum pink Versace, and Chloë Sevingy went Grecian in a simple silvery Acne halter-necked shift that showed off, aptly, her bling. (She carried a tiny golden egg-shaped clutch, wrapped around her wrist with a teal tassel with room only for a lipstick.) Is it not enough that Jessica Alba has already played iconic comic book characters in “Fantastic Four” and “Sin City“? Apparently not, as rumors swirl today about her involvement with yet another paneled page property.

ICv2 is reporting that Alba has acquired the screen rights to a French comic book series titled “The Insiders.” The news originated from “various French language Websites,” which also pegs Alba’s “Sin City” director Robert Rodriguez as her partner in securing the comic’s film rights.

“The Insiders” first debuted in 2002 from Jean-Claude Bartoll and Renaud Garreta, yielding seven volumes of the series in France with an eighth scheduled for this October. In the same month, Americans will also see the first volume of “The Insiders” titled Chechen Guerilla — perhaps a move to familiarize stateside audiences with Alba’s upcoming character.

Should the rumors pan out, Alba would play Najah Cruz, a Columbian woman with “the weapons expertise and combat skills of a James Bond.” In the series, Cruz is tasked with infiltrating a crime syndicate on behalf of the United States government, where she ultimately works her way into becoming the lead criminal’s body guard.

Given the long delays in “Sin City 2” and reports that a “Fantastic Four” reboot is in the works sans the original cast, Alba could be without a comic book franchise to call her own — which is why turning to “The Insiders” could be a strong move for an actress looking to stick with the genre.

On top of that, Alba’s first high-profile gig came in the form of “Dark Angel,” a James Cameron-produced television series where she played a hard-as-nails soldier of the same ilk as Najah Cruz. Truly, starring in “The Insiders” would be a return to form for the young actress.

Apparently the new blond hair style is for the movie "Machete" which begins production this week.
