It really bothers me that when a white entertainer gets in trouble with the law, (see Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan) they're disgraced & lambasted, but when a black entertainer does it (see Lil' Kim, R. Kelly) their popularity seems to skyrocket. I know the real reason; ours is a culture that glorifies crime. We bandy about words like "thug", "hustler" & "pimp" like they're badges of honor. But at the same time we regard those among us who seek to better ourselves through hard work and education as skind of traitors.
It's sick.

Agree Mr. Wallace! It disgust me at what goes on in the black community and what we classify as "heroes". R.Kelly is caught on tape messing underage girls, even married Aaliyah when she was 15 but yet he's still considered a hero! Oprah, as much as I can't really relate to her, well........I won't get started on my opinion about gangsta rap and the ignorant people who find ways to justify it when those same rappers won't even live in the neighborhoods they claim to "rep".

Yeah, O.J did but we cheered when he got off because we considered it pay back for a justice system that had been sssssoooo wrong to us, for ssssooo long.
R Kelly's case is the most bothersome to me. He hasn't even gone to trial yet and it's been at least 4 years since this 'pedophile', that has thousands of legally aged woman begging to suck him off at every show he performs at, decided to seduce a child. Sick.

Yeah, serously, when is this overrated bastard getting his day in court? You'd think the Honkie-controlled court system would have kept a tight leash around his ass and give him the prison sentence he, quite frankly, deserves.
The conspiracy-theorist in me thinks it might be a plot by The Man to keep him around so as to further the bad stereotype of the black community. But, like I said, conspiracy theory, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. :ninja:

Yeah, Polanski was f**ked up. I mean, I love Chinatown as much as the next man, but that doesn't excuse what he did.
I will say this, however: There's more evidence against R. Kelly then for Polanski.
Polanski only has one credible witness to the whole affair, R. Kelly was recorded on film doing it, doing everything from showing his social security card while pissing in the girls mouth, to identifying birthmarks whilest eating her ass. :o

Their is a difference between scarface and those other italian crime flicks you mentioned. Scarface(a cuban) like many young black males grew up in a single parent household,couldnt stay out of trouble, and just wanted some respect. Im going to try and explain this to you, because your post make me want to punch the screen. Rappers are like wrestlers. **cue the violins** Eventually, we're gonna have to let that "single parent household" s**t go. How come all of my cousins raised solely by their mothers managed to stay outta trouble? You can talk about his hundred million dollar empire all you want. He's never gonna be Sean Combs, he's never gonna be Jay-Z, and I'm sure they still have plenty of old white me they've gotta answer to, so don't gimme this crap like 50 is in COMPLETE control of that so-called empire. Not to mention the fact that the man's an idiot. This is a man who commented on Nas and why he isn't popular anymore, saying that it's because . . . .HE READS TOO MUCH!! Are you freakin' kidding me??!? Now his idiocy is trinkling down to some of the most respected of hip-hop vets;
Mobb Deep should NOT have had to sign up with G-Unit, and what was part of their signing deal, oh, they got sports cars. No cash bonus, no controlling intrest in their music or anything like that, just some sports cars.
M.O.P. Should NOT have had to sign up with G-Unit, not to mention any integrity they had after coming out with "Ante Up", a song which seemed to attack rappers with mentalities similar to 50 and the rest of his crew.
LL Cool J. should NOT have to be signing up with G-Unit! Hell, if you can't even do an album without a dozen guest spots, you shouldn't still be rapping. He's more than proven himself a legend in the game, and shouldn't have to be begging anyone to give him exposure or promotion.
What's worse, what have any of these guys put out of merit SINCE signing up with G-Unit. The label's becoming a black hole for long-established artists who should know better.

I didnt say it was a good excuse. Many young black males can look up to Tony Montana, they cant relate to Henry Hill. What makes 50 cent a coon? G-Unit Records' parent company is Universal Music Group. Don't be fooled by 50 owning his own label. Every rapper with a major record deal is working for a white man.

Money is nothing without intelligence and desire to be totally self-reliant. There's a big difference between being rich and being "wealthy". A lot of these "rich" rappers still rely on major, white-owned, distribution companies to get their music to mainstream audiences. If they really wanted to, they could have been established their own distribution companies, and business would come to them.
This is america and it's damn near impossible not to work for a white man. So your going to have to let that go.
So there's no point in making an effort. Gotcha.:whatever:

My point is, these were once individuals who would never have anything to do with 50's ass. five years ago. They wouldn't need him. The fact that they've been duped into believing that he can revitalize their careers is bothersome to me.

I do agree, to an extent, that once a person reaches a level of fame and monetary net worth, race doesn't even factor into it.
R. Kelly and Michael Jackson, two black men ( I don't care what he's done to himself, for the sake of this argument, Michael still black!) both accused of missing around with children. Arguable, there's more damning evidence in the case of R. Kelly, but it's Michael who goes to trial quick, and the trial was over and done with and R. Kelly's STILL waiting to go to trial. I think in the case of Michael Jackson, he's a confused man who the public just don't understand anymore. The plastic surgeries and overall eccentric behavior just got to people. As soon as they found an opening to exploit, they went for it. The man's essentially been programmed to be a performer since he was five years old. He never had a chance to develop like a normal child, and this is the product of a two-parent family with almost a dozen siblings.

Okay, I need to say something about this. The whole "he never had a childhood" thing is bull. Michael has 8 siblings. Michael and LaToya are the only two kids who came out wrong, and LaToya's more famous for a failed psychic network than anything. Janet grew up in the spotlight from a younger age than Michael (her brothers were already famous when she was growing up, and she started touring with them as soon as she was old enough to remember a song and a joke), and the only embarrassing thing she's done is accidentally flash a titty.

Okay-let's be real about this. Michael was accused of SAME SEX molestation, which our society frowns upon far more severely. Yes he was tried & acquitted, because it was a flimsy case. He was facing 10-count them-10 charges & the prosecution couldn't make one stick. But society has shunned him & labeled him a monster. But R. Kelly continues to climb the charts, even w/many people whose children are in the same age range as the girl he supposedly peed on.

 Sometimes I can really understand why people look at us funny becuase whenever I look at BET(which I don't anymore), I just get this bad feeling in my stomach. As a people, we are lost and like 2Pac said "they say it ain't no hope for the youth, and the truth is it ain't no hope for the future!". Sad statement but when you look at BET, 2Pac was definetly speaking a prophetic line. Whenever we start to look in the mirror and get over these dumb ass "ghetto laws" that really support criminals in the hood like, no snitching and support your local rap star even though he's telling Scarface fantasies and glorifying violence and sex, we are basically giving our people over to the system. Lil Wayne just got busted after a concert in New York for gun possession. And shoot, every other time Busta Rhymes is out, it seems like he's getting pinched for gun possession.

Singer R Kelly to be tried for child pornography
CHICAGO (Reuters) - Grammy Award-winning R&B singer R Kelly will go on trial September 17 on child pornography charges, five years after the accusations were first made, prosecutors said on Wednesday.
Kelly, 40, whose real name is Robert Kelly, faces up to 15 years in jail if convicted of videotaping himself having sex with an underage girl. Prosecutors have said the girl could have been as young as 13, but defense attorneys have disputed her age and whether Kelly is on the tape. The underground videotape was widely circulated.
Kelly pleaded not guilty to the charges and in the interim has released hit songs, gone on tours, and released a DVD set of "hip-hopera" skits.
Cook County Judge Vincent Gaughan said jury selection would begin September 17.
The trial was delayed, in part, by arguments over when the video was made. It was also pushed back because the judge fell and broke bones and needed to recuperate.

Black america does not care about goodfellas, godfather, and carlito's way. Why would we look up to a bunch of fat white racist criminals? I am assuming all of your friends are white? Try talking to young blacks instead of making blanket statements. Most of them are just trying to make money. And what planet do you live on? The only white celebrity to get in any significant amount of trouble was paris hilton. All of the other whites just skated off into the sunset. What about OJ? He was found innocent and people still treat him like a criminal. And then whites complain about the duke lacross case. You can bash blacks all you want, but when your gone they still call you a ******. Believe me I know.

While most of us are out here trying to do our thing and live a good life and not have people look at us a certain way, there's always that percentage that **** everything up for the rest of us therefore making us all look bad.

It's sick.

My point is, if the ones who are doing it would stop & exercise some common freakin' sense, we wouldn't have this problem. And it's not just the thugs who are the problem. It's the "TINO"s (Thugs In Name Only) who pull us down as well. The ones who just think it's cool to live that way. I don't know. Maybe if somebody stopped for a minute & said "you know, 'C-Murder' & 'Scarface' aren't good stage names; they perpetuate stereotypes". Or "Maybe I won't go see this movie called 'Hustle And Flow'." I agree with some of your points, but i think saying Hustle and Flow is positive is similar to how many of us turn a blind eye to other ignorances in our community, like R Kelly having sex with underage girls for ex. He's selling more records now than he did before that **** happened. Hustle and Flow was clearly glorifying the pimp game, and degarding woman, no matter how ya look at it.
Good post bro! I hate it how the black community use these movies and just............I don't know man. We are just f-ed up as a people! There are times when I look in the mirror and proud that I'm black. But then there times I walk down the street and wish I didn't have a black cell in my body cuase of the things I see our people doing and glorifying!
I seen this video with this guy talking about the truth about hip hop, the force behind it and just the music that we target at our kids! B2K, at the time, was targeted at teen age minorities, and when I actually just listened to the lyrics.............Wow! and I'm not just being crazy or whatever, but we have really been desensitized to a lot of things! Things that don't bother us anymore, they should!

Does anyone have any love for Al Sharpton, or Jesse Jackson?
What about Minister Farrakhan? Farakhan says alot of good things, but by every definition of the word, some of the things he says is dictionary definition racism.
I think alot of these so called black leaders paint us, as a race, into a corner, where if you don't agree with them your considered an Uncle Tom or a sell out.
Anyone else agree?

I don't mind Jesse Jackson, but the others seem to want black people to come out ahead of white people instead of being equals with white people. That's why Martin Luther King was a great man. He wanted everyone to be equal.

Sad? Meaning sad that you feel sorry for me or sad that's it reality? Explain please. The situation is sad as in unpleasant. It is sad that you are caught up in it. I remeber seeing an interview with some black celebrity (I can't remember who he was) that said something similar. He was saying that a lot of the negitive sterotypes towards blacks come from blacks themselves and that he was called an "Uncle Tom" for being literate and well spoken. Like I said, I don't mean any disrespect, but I think it is sad that sometimes you feel like you wish you weren't black. I myself have never felt that I wish I wasn't white, but when white people do ignorant and racist things I do like to try and seperate myself from them. Maybe what's really sad is that in all cases, it's the negative sterotypes that get through. If a black man robs a liqour store, people go, "that figures." If a black man becomes mayor people go, "now there's something you don't see every day."

Yeah it's like I get a bad rap becuase I try to do something with my life. Don't get me wrong, there are ALOT of black people who are successful and are doing their own thing, but there are..............so many negative things! The thing that just bothers me is how we justify crimes and crazy things into a black white issue. I'm still bothered about how R.Kelly was caught ON TAPE with a underaged black girl and not only not in jail, but received awards and is selling more records now than he ever did!
And don't get me started on rap music!

Exactly, but it seems like no one pays attention to them. They only pay attention to the ones who end up on Cops. And the real funny thing is, there are far more white criminals in the world, and yet old white women don't clutch there purse when they see a young urban white male walk towards them. What is it Chris Rock says in Dogma? "A black man can steal your stereo, but he can't be your Savior."

Agreed! People act like Cosby was lying when he was saying that the american black culture is more concerned about gold teeth and hoes than they were about education. You can look at BET and see that. I know he has to feel embarassed when he marched in the 60s and now to see us today. Thing is, a lot of black people feel this way, but they won't speak up about it. How is JayZ a hero and uses the same language that Imus used. Don't get me wrong, Imus was wrong as hell to say what he said, but it's the same thing that these rappers is saying. Actually what he said was a lot more tamer than what they say. I know I'm speaking ebonics but I'm tired from shooting ball. :o

This is why a lot of whites feel that 'the old days'( as political incorrect as it is to say it out loud) where the better days; the days when we had to sit at the back of the bus, couldn't vote, etc. Cause all this black on black crime, etc in somes eyes, wouldn't be happening:csad:

It's a backlash. The country overcompensated for all the **** that happened to black people years ago, and now we all feel that we're owed everything and everyone has to walk on egg shells with us. The whole thing kind of backfired on them to be honest. It's similar to the women's movement to be honest. A male can't do **** to a female without a giant thing blown out of proportion.

Wow! That's so true! I think it's just that now adays EVERYONE is so politically correct now! I remember you use to say fagg0t, not even meaning gay but just...........to say it. Now if you say it, you are viewed as a nazi or something to that nature. Times have really changed. :csad:
There will always be those that think society is changing for the worst, and "don't ya remember the good old days?".....no, I don't remember the good old days when there was no prejudice, no race wars, the names have changed, but the issues are still the same....

Define "The Church".
Can I do it just once?.....lol
The church as an established religion....I'm not talking of a certain religion, nor do I believe that "all" churches do this as individual churches.....but the church "established religions" have moved religion far from a "relationship with God, Christ, Muhammad, whoever" and have turned it into a business to make money. 70's, 80's, what brought this to our attention were the TV evangelists, you had individual churches that fell under this category, but you didn't have the mega-churches on the street corner that you have now....the established religions, (churches) from what I see today, are more about increasing the size of the membership (which increases the size of the intake of money) and less about what they were supposed to do in the early history. We have again repeated history, Martin Luther during the Reformation realized that the church was more about power than it was giving, taking care of the poor, taking care of the family etc......and spoke out against it........we have come full circle once again......and I'm not seeing many speaking out in the manner that he did......
My opinion has nothing to do with believing in God or not....I happen to believe in God, Christ, etc.....if others don't, thats ok.......
I do no believe that what we are calling, "the church" today, is what Christ spoke of when he spoke of the "the church" in the Bible......

Will you get off my big mulatto cock you potato eating bastard. Get a life and stop following me around. And once again I ask where are all of these black youth gangsters you guys speak of. Most black youth do not idolize gangsters and thieves. You cant blame us because white youth with no cultural identity hijacked our culture and act like idiots. If you coons would leave the skate park and talk to black people you would see how coonish you sound. Being successful does not mean "acting white". People of color built empires while whites were still living in mud huts, eating each other. Who cares if they wear baggy clothes as long as they get it done in school. So please coons, and racists quit pulling our *****.
Wow your ignorance is frightening.

You take coonery to new levels. Roman polansky has won an oscar since his child rape charges. Mark Furhman the racist corrupt cop who admitted to planting evidence and beating suspects has become a hero to white america. Who loves goodfellas, godfather, and all of those other guido crime flicks? It is not black america. Who cares what white people of all people think about anything. How does what another man does affect you? Does white america apoligize to asia because millions of white men travel over there every year for the sole purpose of ****ing chidlren? The answer is of course NO! If white america has never apoligized for the genocide, slavery, and all around depravity than why on earth do you feel the need to apoligize for another man's behavior?
Furman a hero to white America??? STFU you fracking moron I do not speak for black people as a white person, do not presume to speak for white people as a black person in fact you are so ignorant you probably shouldn't speak at all dumbass kid.
