What's so special about soundwave?

he and blaster are just about the same. he's also an "uncharismatic bore" (constructicons), unlike blaster who has a hip personality, almost like jazz in the first movie. why is it that a lot of people want to see him in the sequel? how come there's no clamor for blaster?

I cant speek for the world but for me and all the kids when and where I grew up [Brooklyn NYC] Soundwave was loved because he appared to be a BOOM BOX and he was a BAD ASS. I know the toy was designed adter a walkman but on the Toon he was pretty large and could play music and carried tapes with him.In the minds of us iner city kids he resembled the guy walking down the box with a boom box in his hand.An other reason is cause the bad guys are always cooler then the good guys.The Decepticons even had a gang in Brooknyl NY name them-selfs after the Cartoon badguys.And the voice was just so kool.

Soundwave is needed just due to the fact that hes Megatrons right hand man. Not only that, but the voice is awesome and who doesn't love a guy who throws tapes out his stomach to kill things.

I don't think Bay hates Frank Welker. I recall in a recent interview where he was asked why he didn't get cast Welker was because he felt his Megatron voice didn't fit the movie portrayal, and he felt it would be disrespectul to Welker to ask him to change his voice.

But Frank Welker should still voice Soundwave in the sequel. He was such a big part of the cartoon that it would seem wrong for him not to have role in the films.

If for any reason he was unavailable, then my number one alternative would Michael Ironside.

Personally, aside from his voice and the fact that he fired other Transformer cassettes from his chest, I always liked him because he was one of the few original Transformers who was completely loyal to Megatron.

I think a big part of Soundwave's appeal came from his voice and the minions aspect. Those were things that made him unique. Personally, I hope he is introduced in TF2. He should've been in the first movie, but that didn't work out.

kaser beak, ravage, rumble and that other one are all fairly cool characters themselves, and soundwave is obedient and has that killer voice as well...

I really don't think they would make such a creative issue about Soundwave and then give him a bit role. If he's going to be in the movie, he'll be significant either in his physical actions or verbally (which I think a plot-driven sequel will lean towards).

They almost did........Frenzy and Black out were both Named Soundwave at one point or an other durring the script writting faze.

Soundwave is cool because:
-He is a spy
-He is very cold, unemotional.
-He is always on task. Perfectly loyal to Megatron. Never any drama with him. You know Soundwave is always there and always waiting to kick ass and never anything else.
-He is tough. One of the longest living decepticons of the original show. He never died in the U.S. In Japan he didnt die until some time after the events of hte U.S. show, but even then, his minions rebuilt him.
-He has a unique voice.
-He has his minions. They arent just guys who hang out with him. They are stored within him. When Soundwave needs their service, he ejects them out of him. Soundwave has his own personal ass kicking group. They can also act as his own personal spy/recon team because of their small human size.
-He had a cool head design, lacking real eyes or a mouth, leaving it totally lacking in any sort of human looking emotion, making him feel mysterious.
-He is always by Megatron's side and is his favorite warrior. Always accompanying him almost like his personal body guard. Being Megatrons personal body guard is a pretty badass job.

I guess that wouldn't be too bad. But also, if they decide to not put Soundwave in this one I wouldn't mind seeing Ravage. (once again, I go to the toys) There's a series called Transformers Alternators, and they made one for Ravage, he transformed from a black Jaguar into the panther looking thing with the rockets on his hind legs.

There were 2 Ravage's in the Alternaters line...they called one Battle Ravege and the other Ravage.....one was as you mention the other was a black repaint/remold of Alternators Tracks Corvette Z06, Convertible with a new head in robot mode.Yes it had a standing robot mode not a animal looking mode.

Well, that's one thing the Bay movie got right, which I liked.



Soundwave... I'd like to see him in because he's a robo-narc and narcs make for plot twists... maybe. Mainly he's just one of the most classic Decepticons, right after Megatron and Starscream, in my opinion.

I like the surveillance van idea. I saw a picture of a toy that had him with a guitar that turned into laserbeak. Although I liked the design I did'nt think a big electric guitar fitted soundwaves character (may be an idea for Blaster though)as his alt.mode was more for recording purposes than because of his love of music.

No I'm not including the Autobot cassets.In the U.S. G1 Decepticon cassets released alone there were

His voice was one of the big things I liked about him. It would be kind of cool to see him kind of like Blackout or Barricade in that he holds smaller Decepticons, but he has more places to hold them. Beyond the chest, y'know?

That would make him unique for the film, though I don't know what he'd change into.
