Here is a version I just did,
Its his original Batsuit, but he spray painted it to look like this instead of all black.
http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f358/seanstarrunner/batsuit.jpg
I also did this trace, its the bat suit with the padded armor under it:
http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f358/seanstarrunner/Whathecouldlooklike.jpg
That way it could be like Nolan's realistic take while looking more like the comic, and without making the actor look silly.

That'd be cool. I hope they don't go with making Batman the ultra-realistic one he is in Batman Begins. In a solo movie, it works great, but he doesn't need to be insanely realistic in a JLA movie.

Probably something more like this.

I haven't really dug any of the manips of Welling as Supes, mainly because I hate the idea of him playing the guy. I mean, just the thought or possibility or eventual mass confusion about whether a JLA movie would share continuity with Smallville gives me a headache.
Also, his hair doesn't fit Superman. Nitpicking, I know, but it should be slicked back. :o

Agreed, and there's nothing wrong with nitpicking. My last manip had some problems with the neck line, but I was really surprised at how much more mature he looked with his hair slicked back. I'm trying to produce another one at the moment.

I love both characters equally and heroes fighting EACH OTHER is really friggin dumb not to mention overplayed, but I have to say the idea that Batman can beat Superman in a physical battle, let alone just walk up and kick him over after giving him some "Grr I'm dark and edgy" look just might be the greatest instance over compensation in the whole of modern history.
Still I'll give props for some really sharp editing there.

Dennis Haysbert (http://imdb.com/name/nm0371660/) as Darksied
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y138/artistsean/Darksied.jpg
The Process
This is sort of what the movies should do to make Darksied.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y138/artistsean/0000003577_20060919205520.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y138/artistsean/57559803.jpg

The movies should take an actor like Haysbert (apply the make up and prosthetics) and CG his face over the body double, in this case Kane. The body double would have the make up and costume deon too, I'm assuming. But for the close ups and dialogue and scenes where his face is visible just CG over the actor's face. (Like Gimmly in LOTR)
This is all doable in real life too without using a big completely CG character.
They could even use computers to make Darksied even larger, say a few feet taller, (like they did with the bad guy in 300).

Yeah, that would look silly in live action I think. You couldn't really see it in the manip of Haysbert I posted, but I used Darth Vader's legs for the lower half of his body.

I agree the a dress might not be as intimidating,
The point was to try to show that the studios could use Darkseid in a Superman or JLA film,
without making him a big CG creature like Hulk. and without making any big changes like giving him big (Mr. Freeze) armor or something.
(Same can be done with the Hulk, or any other big monsterous looking characters)
I was also trying to make him look as close to Jack Kirby's design as possible. (and Kirby's had a Roman toga type dress thing, even Timm's animated version had the dress thing.)

Seriously, I just don't have the time to do requests, I only do my manips when I've got some spare time up my sleeve so it can take me several months to finish one (I've only done 7 in about 20 months). To busy designing boring old business cards and flyers I'm afraid, somethings gotta pay the bills!
I'm pretty sure Warner can afford 35 an hour :D
and we all understand paying bills is more important than manips, tho paying bills sucks :( *wishes for the good old days when Mom and dad did that*

DISCLAIMER:
The Superman in mine is a manip of a manip by WILDE. How was it done? WILDE originally recoloured Aquaman's costume and gave it sleeves from the SR costume and a cape. I took it and recoloured it to give him more red, a connected cape, I gave it the "C" curl and a belt.pretty good:cwink:

heres a teaser of the wonder woman i did that will hopefully be in my JLA piece or just be a stand alone WW pic(im done with the image of WW just needs a background and all)
the suit is basically my own design which is a cross between the golden age wonder woman(notice the skirt and the sandals), present day WW and a greek warrior
and yes that is monica bellucci as WW

I'd like to see Monica (Dean or Belluchi) in the Alex Ross styled classic WW costume. But I've never been big on Wonder Woman having a sword and sheild. Yeah she's an Amazon but she's also someone who's in the ballpark of Superman in terms of power. She doesn't need them and she's not Xena.
Besides, I think there's something kinda cool about the woman who's so damn awesome all she needs is a bare hands and a rope at most to totally take evil down. I guess with Wonder Woman I look for something a bit different than just the warrior chick thing.

Very, very nice work.
First off, Monica Bellucci IS Wonder Woman...damn she looks great. Forget her actual age, she looks great. WW is timeless looking and that's Monica!!
I am really impressed with the costume design. I like the look of her 'breast/chest' plate and I love the 'battle' skirt. WW should wear a skirt in the movie. The costume is unique and I like it. She looks like she is ready for battle, but I wouldn't want her actual costume throughout the movie to have the sword or shield...she doesn't need it. If Sups and Bats can go into battle without weapons, so can WW (she is equally as powerful, if not more so).
BobJM
10-14-2007, 04:49 PM
Batboy, I love the costume. I would like to see the "W" though, but I love how you've interpreted the costume and the classic sandals look.
Don't like Monica Belucci in the role. I have another Monica in mind...

10-14-2007, 06:04 PM
thanks guys and Monica Bellucci IS WW
lol i know which monica your thinking of, shes by far the best choice in terms of age range, but Bellucci is and will always be my WW
as for the ''W'', i tried to add it some how, but that didnt work
and phoenixflight, thanks, and ya, i agree, she doesnt need the shield and sword, but ive always liked it when she has it. it gives her more of the ''greek warrior'' look, and she does use it sometimes. she cant always use her lasso lol
i also have one without the shield and sword which i made before that one, just to make it look more ''full'' i added the shield and sword

That Hawkgirl is pretty smokin' though. I loved her in the JL and JL:U series. Only problem with the former is how rarely she actually took off her mask. I think having two women rather than all the men and Wonder Woman helps balance out the dynamic.

Ares23

Im not saying Monica is not beauty, she is, Im just dont see her as WW, she looks more the "bad lady" face, and talking about incarnations its seams that Monica Dean is the inspiration for Terry Dodson to draw Wondy!
batboy99
10-15-2007, 07:27 PM
bad girl? yeahno. monica dean IS WW as far as im conerned, but bellucci would have been one of the best choices if she was younger

He's probably not going to be Superman.
Apparently he wasn't testing for that part.
The whole "scoop" about him, DJ Cotrona and Minka Kelly being all set for Supes, Bats and WW respectively was apparently misinformation, and started with emijayne over at countingdown.com.
Emijayne was wrong about this and admitted to it a couple of posts later. But I guess the damage was already done.
Anyhoo, she's not sure what parts they tested for, but they're definitely NOT gonna be the big three. (That is as of 17-Oct-07, 10:00 am EST) ;)
I think it'sa safe bet that Porter tested for Flash

Here are some of the JLA members in costumes I'd like to see them in:
Batman should look more like the comic, although I know its hard to do that and not make him look silly.
So I think they should have body armor like in Begins but cover that with gray spandex like material (stretched over the armor, with it sort of visible throught the spandex). Maybe even have a few scenes where his costume gets torn or really ripped up and you can see the armor under the suit.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y138/artistsean/thebatsuit.jpg
Or maybe even make it a blackish blue, that shines blue to be like that comic book outfit:
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y138/artistsean/batmannewsuitwithbluecopy.jpg
Wonder Woman doesn't need much changing, just make her costume look more like Roman armor, maybe even have her use Roman and Greek type weapons (designed to look that time period too):
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y138/artistsean/costumingcopy.jpg
Green Lantern should look like his classic costume, a sort of space cop uniform. It should look alien and out there, sort of futuristic but also seemless and no wrinkles because its his second skin (made from his imagination.)

Is this a manip of a Ross pic or a legit one? Because if the movies just had to go the armored skirt route I could totally dig this design as an alternative to the classic suit. It's got all the right elements with just a little tweaking.
Wow, thanks. Its actually a manipulation of an Alex Ross Wonder Woman. I just added the dress, the brest plate, and made her wrist bands bigger. Glad you liked it. It is how I think she should look for the movie, more like armor or armor inspired.
Here is the actual Alex Ross picture:

I am glad you liked tha idea, I had forgotten about that cover though. What I was thinking of when I mentioned that was the Jim Lee Batman sketches he did for Wizard (while working on Hush). (Jim Lee was talking about how Batman must use armor and he was showing how it would look.)
I was also thinking how cool it would look to show something like this, and see the armor revealed under the rips.

a) change that hair
b) eat something!
i know! her bangs drive me crazy, i just want too brush them out of her face!
her body is very nice, but i'm shorter than her & i look like i could kick her butt, so not ww material!
Wonder Woman doesn't need much changing, just make her costume look more like Roman armor, maybe even have her use Roman and Greek type weapons (designed to look that time period too):

While I don't entirely agree about the armored thing, as I said your concept is one I could totally live with. Well done!
On your Batman. I've had the same feeling about using the blue. Though I think you would need to use one even darker than what you have in your manips. My idea was to get as far away from the rubber/armor thing as possible (at least out on the outside. Your internal armor idea I can see) and model the costume after what artist Dave Mazzuchelli did in Year One complete with the white eye slits which is something I really want them to have the guts to do on film. I to advocated using a very dark blue for it. Another idea I had about it was to use black but to backlight it in blue whenever possible. Kind of like how in T2 for nearly any scene at night there is always that cold blue lighting going on.

It's been confirmed now by AICN:
Here's some interesting talk regarding the recent JUSTICE LEAGUE casting session...
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. We know that a bunch of young actors recently read for roles in George Miller's upcoming epic JUSTICE LEAGUE. Those actors included Adam Brody, Joseph Cross (RUNNING WITH SCISSORS), Michael Angarano (SKY HIGH), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (GRINDHOUSE)and Teresa Palmer (WOLF CREEK).
The young ages of those being read did not go unnoticed by the geek community.
I've since spoken with a source buried deep in the production who shed some light on this casting session.
This source said that all those people above (and many more) were only reading for two characters: The Flash and Wonder Woman. The source assured me that the casting is skewing very young only for The Flash because he's the youngest member of the Justice League. And Wonder Woman is a goddess that doesn't age, so it's understandable she'd be cast young.

Making a character ageless is a tricky thing. What happens a few years down the line when they start looking older? This would limit the number of films right?

What if there's not a sequel?
Besides, it'll be easier to make a woman look younger for longer if she's reasonably young to begin with.

I guess it would depend on how well they age in the first place. I never really noticed a change in Adrian Paul as Duncan McLeod until around the end of the series. Though really, I think cutting the ponytail did more to make him look older than even gaining a couple pounds.

I get that they need to cast fairly young in order so that they can ensure they're "sequel proofed" so to speak, but, and I know it's been said a million times before, she's called Wonder Woman for a reason.

Simple. "Age" her up from the beginning, and then use less effects as you progress through the films. :yay:
In the unlikely event that this JL film produces solo flicks, who's to say they won't go down the Batman/Superman path with WW - different actress, different continuity, no connection whatsoever to JL, whoever gets the role might just as likely not be guaranteed to continue the role in an individual aspect, wouldn't surprise me in the least, in fact it would be better if they didn't have the same continuity.

Yes and no. If you look at the comics Superman has more or less show that he can and will age but very slowly. Kingdom Come is a good example because while Diana looks basically the same Superman's features are weathered and has the grey/white temples in his hair.
Based on that I don't think it would be as big a deal in casting because being agressively youthful is not something that's built into the concept the way it is for Wonder Woman who is created by magic or Wally who archetypically is supposed to be a young guy. If it's Barry however then I kind of wonder why casting young is such a priority unless their "Barry" is a blending of the characters.

as much as i am a fan of Kingdom Come, it is a bad example to use as a basis for Kal-El's aging process. truthfully speaking, Kal-El's invulnerability comes from our yellow sun, so if you follow it logically, the only time Kal-El would age is when our sun starts turning red (or during those times that he is in an environment with no yellow sun). i know what post crisis writers did with trying to depower him and all the BS, but since they're sticking to the yellow sun invulnerability canon as well it kinda makes their stories contradictory (on a side note: Superman's powers and abilities has been revamped so often since post crisis its as if nothing changed :p)
oh and fyi, i remember reading an interview about Alex Ross on why he made Superman greying, and his reason was more figurative that literal, he wanted to portray that Superman has "lived life" and wizened from the last time he was active.
Based on that I don't think it would be as big a deal in casting because being agressively youthful is not something that's built into the concept the way it is for Wonder Woman who is created by magic or Wally who archetypically is supposed to be a young guy. guess you dont know much about WW huh? ;)
WW's aging process has been even less consistent than Superman. there has been numerous discussions on her mortality/ immortality, but for all her history one things for sure: she does age. she can get hurt and she can get killed. she's essentially human but with special gifts from the gods (invulnerability, flight, strength, wisdom et al), which makes her almost equal to Superman. contrary to what you read from random articles on the internet, she is not an ageless goddes that never changes (she's not even a goddess anymore!).
as to how fast WW ages its still up for debate. during Pre-Crisis the canon was that whenever she's not on Paradise Island she begins to age. in Post-Crisis it was never made clear just how fast she ages when she's in Man's World, however there are several stories that mentions that she doesnt stay ageless.
hope that clears things up for y'all ;)

As far as J'onn is concerned, I think there can be a lot more freedom with the costume design than the other characters. He is less iconic than Superman or Batman or really any of them. As long as he has the red crossing straps on his chest, I would be happy.

blue underwear and

I think it just would end up looking silly unless they do something to make it work
