He was a great man. I still feel bad for his family. His daughter seems very intent on carrying his legacy, God Bless Her. Either way, still very tragic.

Year ago I stopped believeing in god. I mean how can Steve Irwin be dead. A man who dedicated his life to protecting "gods" creatures, but Bush is still alive. I miss ya Steve. I can't even watch your re-runs. But I still miss ya.

He had one of the most admirable ways of life of anbody in the public eye. He appreciated what he had, and lived life to the absolute fullest without fear even though he understood the fragility of life better than most of us.

R.I.P. His family are in my prayers.

his death was such a shock..

A shock? He worked with some of the most dangerous animals in the world. I'm amazed he made it that long without getting himself killed. He was a great man but it was no shock that he was killed.

Yeah, exactly what I was thinking, he pissed dangerous animals off for a living, sad yes, shocking no. I wouldn't even call it tragic because he died doing what he loved, pissing a dangerous animal off.

I was shocked.....many have said that he was not only the best at what he did, but one of the safest. He knew exactly what he was doing, how far to go etc.

I was shocked because I've swam with these animals before, and I would have never EVER thought of this happening. Stepping on them yes, but this was so weird.....just weird, and its sad because had he not pulled it out, he might would still be alive today. You aren't going to die from the poison. Usually if you step on one you soak your foot in warm water, nothing else and it neutralizes the poison. It just happened to hit the worst part of the heart, and he pulled it out. Yeah I was shocked that he died in this manner. Being crunched by a crocodile wouldn't have surprised me, but this was a shock.

The way it happened was certainly a shock, considering how many more vastly dangerous obstacles he overcame.

It was such a terrible shock (forgive me -- lack of a better word) to hear that he was dead. I still can't stand to watch old Crocodile Hunter reruns because it makes me too sad.

I know a lot of people decided to make fun of his death, which is a shame because he seemed like a decent guy. Death sucks imo and can't find much of a situation where I find it funny. Guess that's just me. Had a friend that died in a motorcycle accident, lost control of his bike and was ran over into pieces by a semi. I suppose my perspective was impacted by this.

I actually would've been the most surprised if he was killed by a croc. Irwin pretty much grew up around them, and no doubt knew them and their 'tells' better than any other species. If there was one animal that had the least chance of killing him, it was a croc.

His wife said she thought it would be at the jaws of the crocodile or something of that manner......the way he died was like me, as a teacher, getting killed by accidentally stabbing myself with a pencil.

In honor, we should all watch his movie, Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course. Ebert actually gave it a thumbs up.

I do a lesson in my classes where we watch Crocodile Hunter: CC, and the kids have to describe the movie using the Five Themes of Geograhy....

Location
Place
Movement
Regions
Human Environmental Interaction

They chart their examples, and then write a 5 paragraph critique of the moving using their information.

They love it!

Did they ever show the footage? Because it was recorded.

The south park appearance of dead steve irwin was amusing, and quite tasteful.

No, and it will never be shown..........his wife made that very clear, as well as the producer of the show they were filming at the time. No one will ever see the footage.

Tragic is when a little kid gets cancer, I bet if Steve could have chosen his death he would have wanted it that way (saving the animals that he loved).

Millions worldwide were stunned by the September death of Steve Irwin, TV's Crocodile Hunter, and were further shocked by the release of a videotaped message from Osama bin Laden, in which the al-Qaeda leader took responsibility for the Australian wildlife enthusiast's death.

"We have no compassion for those who exploit Allah's creation for their own gain and glory, and we will continue to strike with righteous barbs into the oppressors' hearts," bin Laden said. The videotape was released to the Australian Animal Planet channel on Sept. 7, five days after Irwin's death. "Praise be to Allah, who permitted the wronged to retaliate against the oppressor in kind!"

While Irwin's family has not commented on the statement, Australian Prime Minister John Howard denounced the act shortly after Irwin's funeral.

"Our nation has lost a wonderful man and a colorful native son," Howard told a grieving crowd of thousands in Sydney. "I urge President Bush to resume the hunt for this deranged madman bin Laden."

To prevent possible additional terrorist attacks on other daytime cable TV personalities, heavy security details have been placed around What Not To Wear's Stacy London, the Food Network's Paula Deen, the American Chopper guys, and Dog the Bounty Hunter

I thought you liked animals.

Hence accidently. I'm a vet tech, and part of my job is restraining animals when they're being given injections, and this cat had crapped all over it's cage and after I scruffed it, I had to press it against the floor of it's cage, which meant rubbing it into it's feces as it continued to fight me.

We gave it a bath after the alter.
