Did you ever run away from home as a child? And did you ever come back? I did it a couple times, but ended up coming back because, well....I knew I wouldn't be able to manage. I remember seeing some stories on MSNBC about teenage runaways that were leaving on the streets of Seattle, having to fight for food, becoming heroin addicts, getting propositoned for sex by random pervs. Craziness. If your home life was seriously ****ed, i could see it, but most times it's never as bad as they assume it is.

A few times.
The first was when I was really little, I had my little panda bear and I think I told who ever found me that I was going to go find my Mom. I was living with my Dad, grandmother, two aunts and my sister (pretty big house). I was barefoot and it was early in the morning. I'm pretty sure I was going in the wrong direction, my mom was in Michigan, I believe. I was in Maryland.
Next, a couple of classmates showed up out of the blue at my front door and invited me to skip town with them, me; like a sucker, went along. I think my Dad found us or something.
Later, my Dad had wailed on me, he's pretty big dude, over some stupid stuff so I left the house. He called my Grandmother and my aunt, I ended up going back but they were pretty freaked.
Now for my next disappearance...it will be grand.

I lived a block down from a park. I would ride my bike there and chill with my friends for the day.

Nope, I was never that dumb. Though on several occasions I thought about beating myself up so the social workers would take me away. Never did it though.

That would have been good, peddling your ass for a loaf of bread would have been good too.

My bestest buddy ran away from home... sort of. She still keeps in touch with her family and whatnot but she moved cities when she was like, 13, crazy. She's really super independent and responsible but still fun to be around. I wonder how different she'd be if she kept to her suburban life.

I packed a bag and a box of granola bars and started walking towads the mall on the other side of the city where I lived......my plan was to hide in the bathrooom and live in the mall......I was about 10 or 11 at the time.......when I realized that I really had no clue how to actually get there it was pretty dark and somebody from a convenience store I went into gave me a ride to the nearest police station......they called my parents to come get me......
