Haha, really? How? You even figured the clone thingy?
Though my problem is that I was paying too much attention on understanding them- they were always whispering, damn. I'm so used at Spanish translators, they scream and overexaggerate their voices lol
lol I love Spanish dubs. They sound like everything means the world is gonna end in seconds. Even a "Buenos Dias" sounds like the most dramatic line ever :p (of course I'm generalising, mostly for Mexican soap-operas. It might not be like that in Spain.)
yeah I figured the clones a little later, but still before it was clearly revealed. I just linked the hats in the beginning of the movie to the scene where David Bowie kinda explains the machine.

OMG Hugh was Gaston?? He's perfect for the role lmao. Not muscular enough though :oldrazz:
Hugh was padded for the role. If you go into the fan site Jackman's Landing at the link below, you can see what Hugh looked like as Gaston. And I also have the Australia cast recording - Hugh was a stitch!!!
http://www.jackmanslanding.com/gallery/film-stage-tv
He's told a great story a few times about one specific show - he was having headaches and someone told him he was dehydrated and to dring a lot of water. Well he was onstage and let's just say he drank a little TOO MUCH water LOL. He was singing a song where the last note was very high ("Meeeeeee!!!!!!") and as he told the story, you use the same muscles to sing as you do for the other thing. So his choice was not to sing the note or just "go for it." And he was wearing red tights! So he sang the note, looked down, and ... nothing! He was so glad that apparently nothing happened - until he went backstage and someone pointed out that his red tights were soaking wet. Oh live theater!!!!

I think they all are...trust me, I was in the 3rd row on Saturday. :oldrazz: Actually, the guy I saw also played the same role in Oklahoma on Broadway a few years ago.
I've heard that story the water overdose too. He's also tossing Belle all over the stage during that song, I don't know how he made it as long as he did!
I do have to admit, my favorite Gaston is still my friend's little boy (who was at the show with us). He got picked to play him at one of the stage shows in Disney World. And he has a big crush on Belle, so there wasn't a lot of acting involved. Hugh is a close second. :cwink:

Here's a FABULOUS interview of Hugh on YouTube from 1996 when he was just about to do Sunset Blvd. in Australia - it has clips from Beauty & the Beast in it! Plus clips of Sunset Blvd., and Hugh's dad is interviewed also. Plus clips of Hugh walking on Broadway in NYC, sounding like not believing he's there. If he only knew then what 8 years would bring.....

It's also worth pointing out that The Fountain is finally out on DVD today! :woot:
I´ve just watched it on DVD...that´s the fifth, but not the last time!:woot:
I love this movie so, so much...
I also noticed, and I don´t know if I´m crazy, but maybe you could help me here, danoyse. At Izzy´s funeral, when Tommy is leaving, I don´t remember Ellen Burstyn going after him. In the trailer certainly there was that scene when he says to her "Death is a disease, and I´ll find the cure", but that was never in the theatrical release! Or maybe I saw a different version of the film here?

I've seen it 6 times now...twice since getting the DVD on Tuesday! :woot:
I think you might have seen a different version of the film. That scene at the funeral was in the US release, but I remember reading an interview with Darren Aronofsky that that scene wasn't in the earlier cut of the film. I think he even said it was Hugh who convinced him to put that scene back in after seeing it in the trailer.

Oh, it all makes sense now! And I agree with Hugh, I liked to see the scene in the film, it showed how much he refused to accept death (in general, not only Izzy´s) as part of the natural circle.
I also loved the scene that was left out and is included in the extras. I thought it was a better introduction of Tom the astronaut. By the way, I loved the extras, and I didn´t miss Darren doing a talk over. I don´t believe The Fountain has to be explained, it only has to be felt.

He´s fantastic in The Fountain. I still feel a bit angry that his performance wasn´t recognized with an award (or at least a nomination), it´s WAY better than the Leo Di Caprio´s ones. :cmad:

Do you have the Region 2 dvd? I heard they have better extras. All we had was an hour-long series of behind-the-scenes clips, going back to the original movie getting scrapped in 2002. We didn't have any deleted scenes or anything else. :csad:

What exactly is the story of The fountain??
The Fountain is very open to interpretation. Actually, it's completely open to interpretation. :oldrazz:
Basically, Hugh plays a guy who lives for hundreds of years after having found the cure to aging and death, but he's alone because his wife had died centuries ago. She keeps appearing and tries to get him to join her, and he keeps reliving things he messed up about their last day together. To join her, he finally has to accept death as a part of life and let himself finally die.
I could get into more detail, but I'm seeing POTC3 in 3 hours, so I don't have time to go into it all. :oldrazz:

"Open to interpretation" is correct since a lot of people think the "future" portion of the movie is not literal - it's Tommy in the present trying to come to terms with Izzy's book - and some think the future is really the present and he's reliving the past. There's no right or wrong conclusion - everyone must draw their own.

And that drives me crazy because the future scenes are so totally real. It makes no sense for it not to be, and defeats the whole purpose of the story.
I could go on about this all day. I won't, but I could. :oldrazz:

You didn´t get the "Life in a Spaceship" scene? That´s weird. But then I didn´t get the "Death is a disease, and I´ll find the cure" scene in the theaters as well! :cwink:
That "Life..." is quite a long scene, it shows Tom planting some mushrooms, and then drinking a tea made from them. That´s the only deleted scene on the DVD. After that, there was the documentary with behind the scene clips.
Me too. I loved Leo in The Departed (and I'm sooo not a Leo fan), but watching The Fountain again this week (twice!), it's just so wrong he wasn't recognized for it. :cmad:
Leo is a good actor, but he´s also a Hollywood darling, so it means that people expect him to be nominated. Hugh´s work in The Fountain was so much better that it wasn´t even a dispute. The movie was too controversial, but that´s not a excuse for not recognizing Hugh´s efforts... :csad:

In case anyone hasn't ventured over to the "Wolverine" forum, Hugh said in a recent interview for Australian "Who" magazine that he thinks "Wolverine" will start filming at the end of the year (after he's done with "Australia"). He has been seen going to the gym every day in Bowen, Australia where he's filming - there's an audio interview with him in the gym here (http://camlaird.blogspot.com/2007/06/hugh-jackman-speaks-with-brisbanes-nova.html). Also, the two directors have been mentioned for "Wolverine" - DJ Caruso ("Disturbia", "The Salton Sea") and Len Wiseman (the "Underworld" movies).

Just make sure you watch the very first episode - that's the only one Hugh is in so far. He's not the star of the show - Lloyd Owen is. Hugh is one of the producers of the show with his company. He's supposed to have occasional guest-starring appearances but how he's going to film those with his schedule I have no clue.

Down Under's Greatest Contributions to Film
From Australia to (New) Zealand, Premiere celebrates great people, places, and things that come from a land Down Under.
Hugh Jackman
Who is he? Australian-born actor who made leaping from complete unknown to leading man seem easier than slicing a hot adamantium claw through butter.
His contribution: When Bryan Singer tapped Jackman to play mutant badass (and fan favorite) Wolverine in X-Men, the biggest subsequent surprise wasn't that a complete unknown got the marquee role, but that this seemingly gruff Aussie was actually a song and dance man. Jackman's versatility saw him hop from action flick to romantic comedy to Broadway — and it looked more and more like Singer didn't so much create a star as open a floodgate. Jackman continues to prove he's anything but one-note, as his resume piles up with intriguing and far-from-ordinary roles in films like The Fountain and The Prestige.

Long but interesting article about the shoot in Bowen. There's also a slideshow attached to this. Another article said Hugh's son Oscar has been helping bake pies at the bakery, and today there was another article that Oscar fell out of a tree and broke his arm!
http://www.smh.com.au/news/film/bowenwood-keeps-its-cool-as-stars-shine/2007/06/22/1182019360528.html?page=fullpage#contentSwap1
Sometimes it's hard not to gawk and squawk, though the denizens of Bowen are no more inclined to wet themselves in the presence of celebrity than, say, the sophisticates of Bondi or Darlinghurst, where Hugh Jackman's presence in the gym or bakery might also have the hoi polloi diving for their phone cameras. Jackman is the town's new favourite son, a superstar Everyman. On this morning, as he does most days, he's popped post-workout into Jochheim's Bakery, where he knows all the staff by name. "I'm grabbing my coffee, then taking my son to school, then I'm off to work," he tells the girls behind the counter, as if he were off to do daily grind as a bank manager.
And this is what they all love about Hugh. He really is Mr Nice Guy - friendly, approachable, family man. "He's just gorgeous," sighs one local woman, who has responded to the whisper that blew along the main street when Jackman arrived at the bakery but who is resisting the urge to gawk or squawk too loudly.

You better believe it - it's been described "Gone With the Wind" meets "The African Queen" and is a big budget sweeping epic. It's a Fox movie, and Hugh has said Tom Rothman told him "Hugh, this is your Casablanca." Hope it lives up to the hype! My guess is late 2008 for release.

I saw it too! Loved it! The audience I was in laughed also at the Wolverine line! And they applauded when the movie was over.
FYI - the blonde in the movie with the Aussie accent is Rachael Taylor, who's apppearing with Hugh in THE TOURIST.
Hubby watched TRANSFORMERS when it was on TV xxxxxx years ago. I was passing two younger guys in my office last week and they were talking about TRANSFORMERS and I started singing the theme song as I passed them. The stopped talking and just looked at me with their mouths open! Then I started naming some of the Transformers and they couldn't believe it!
BTW - Hugh had off from filming AUSTRALIA last week (Nicole was filming in Darwin). He was spotted last week at Morongo Casino in LA filming for VIVA LAUGHLIN - beard and all! Will Nicky be bearded at some point? He will be back filming in Darwin on Monday. He was in Sydney on Saturday with the family - Oscar got his hair cut!

James Marsden ("Cyclops") is in the new HAIRSPRAY movie and was interviewed recently. Hugh was mentioned.
http://www.moviesonline.ca/movienews_12430.html
MoviesOnline: We were just joking about Hugh Jackman sings and you… X-men the musical?
JAMES MARSDEN: I’m sort of like his echo, sort of following his path. It’s certainly worked for him. We joke about it all the time. There are more people in that cast that have actually very nice voices. Patrick Stewart has a beautiful singing voice, Halle can sing, Allen Cumming in the second movie, so we really could have done it. I tell people that "Hairspray” is really… It’s "X-Men” just instead of retractable claws and laser beams, it’s mashed potato and the Twist for people who are different, the freaks and they sort of become the heroes in the movie. It’s the same thing.
MoviesOnline: Have you talked to Hugh Jackman at all since he’s such a Broadway guy himself since you’ve done this?
JAMES MARSDEN: Oh, he was thrilled when he heard that I was doing this because we would sit in the makeup trailer during "X-Men” and we’d sing like…we have children that are the same age so we would sing like the theme song from "Elmo” and harmonize and "Bear in the Big Blue House,” you know. He was always like, "Mate, you’ve got to do some sort of musical. Mate, you’re dying to do it, obviously you’ve got to do it. You’ve got the chops.” So, he was very nice. At one point he mentioned to me before he did "Boy From Oz” about seeing if I’d be interested in playing his lover or boyfriend in that and I don’t remember why that didn’t happen. I think it was because I was doing something or I don’t know what it was but I would love to do something with him actually. He’s just like the nicest man in the world.
MoviesOnline: He hasn’t talked to you about "Viva Laughlin,” his new TV series.
JAMES MARSDEN: No he hasn’t. No. That got picked up right? No, I haven’t seen it.

AHOY: Hugh Jackman on set at Darwin's Stokes Hill Wharf yesterday. Picture: JUSTIN SANSON
Hollywood heart-throb gets nod of approval
KASEY BRUNT
11Jul07
HUNDREDS of female fans undressed Hollywood heart throb Hugh Jackman with their prying eyes yesterday.
The actor mingled with fans in between filming scenes for Baz Luhrmann's Australia at Darwin's Stoke Hill Wharf.
And many girls were there for one thing only _ to get a glimpse of one of the most famous bums in Hollywood.
"I stood behind him for 10 minutes and the entire time I was checking out his bum," one female fan said.
Another fan said: "I didn't know where to look first. At his bum or his pecs."
Jackman seemed unaware of the attention from the girls as he signed autographs.
"I love Darwin, it's awesome," he told the Northern Territory News.
Most of Jackman's scenes were shot on board the Anniki clipper on the harbour.
"I've been on that boat far too long," he said.
Kurt Ramjan, 13, scored an autograph from the star after waiting more than five hours.
"We have been waiting since 9.30am," Kurt, from Darwin, said.
"He high-fived me."
Visitors to the wharf watched as Luhrmann directed Jackman and hundreds of extras, including local children, during the last day of filming.
Machines blew smoke over the harbour as Luhrmann filmed scenes of post-bombing Darwin.
Filming ended last night, with the crew working throught the night to pack up the set.

What movie are those cowboy pics for?
An EXCELLENT fan site - it's not a "cowboy" movie - Hugh just plays an Australia drover and pretty much the whole cast is Australian, including the director Baz Luhrmann. They run into the bombing by the Japanese of Darwin Australia during WWII on a cattle drive - the synopsis:
http://www.australiamovie.net
Australia is the story of Lady Sarah Ashley (Nicole Kidman), an English, aristocratic woman who leaves England to follow her husband to Australia. He is in Australia with the intention of selling his cattle station the size of Belgium. However, Lady Ashley believes he is having an affair and travels out there to confront him. The property is in the north of Australia, and she embarks on an African Queen type journey, accompanied by a rough, hewn cattle drover (Hugh Jackman). Ultimately, Lady Ashley finds herself inheriting the cattle station and, in order to save it, she and the drover must undertake an epic cattle drive to Darwin. In the course of that journey, she falls in love with the drover, and the Australian landscape, and realises that her life is not over, and there’s always a new life to be had. The title Australia is intended to sum up the story of her life - her journey, the landscape, and the people she meets - all of which transform her life forever.

A Wobble, but the Wiggles still Rule
Emily Dunn Entertainment Writer
July 18, 2007
IT HAS been a bumpy road for the Wiggles, but the group famous for its fruit salad and hot potatoes has retained the title of Australia's richest entertainers, topping BRW's annual Top 50 Entertainers list for the third time running.
Late last year the group hired Sam Moran as the new yellow Wiggle, replacing the founding member Greg Page, who was ill. But sold-out tours in the United States along with album and merchandise sales helped the group match their 2005 earnings of $50 million.
Box office takings and concert ticket sales around the world helped increase the total income for Australia's actors, musicians and entertainers by 15.1 per cent to $393.1 million, but entertainment exporters such as the Wiggles may struggle as the rising Australian dollar cuts into earnings.
The Top 50 Entertainers list, now in its 11th year, hits news stands tomorrow and shows the cut-off for Australia's richest entertainers has increased from $1 million - a position held last year by the Australian Idol winner Anthony Callea - to $1.1 million, a spot now shared by the actor Radha Mitchell and the author Tim Winton.
Nicole Kidman holds the honour of Hollywood's best-paid actress, commanding $18 million per role and moving from third into second place in the list after her earnings increased from $22.3 million in 2005 to $35 million. Her country crooner husband Keith Urban also had a bumper year. His earnings increased from $20 million to $26 million.
After disappointing earnings in 2005 Russell Crowe's income dropped from $27 million to $5 million in last year's list, but the Cinderella Man has climbed back into the top 10 this year, making an estimated $15 million. But Hugh Jackman remains Australia's highest-paid male star at $30 million, a $10 million jump on the previous year.
Kylie Minogue's Showgirl tour helped her climb from sixth place last year - when she raked in $19 million - to fourth this year, with an estimated $27 million.
The list also includes some staggering debuts, including the television producer turned The Secret guru Rhonda Byrne, who appears for the first time on the list with an estimated $14 million, thanks to sky-rocketing sales of her self-help DVDs following an appearance on Oprah in March last year.
AC/DC remain Australia's highest-earning rockers but others also enjoyed a profitable year with the musicians Bernard Fanning, Rogue Traders and Wolfmother making the list for the first time thanks to strong album and concert ticket sales.
TOP ENTERTAINERS
1. The Wiggles $50 million
2. Nicole Kidman $35 million
3. Hugh Jackman $30 million

5. Keith Urban $26 million
6. AC/DC $18 million

Although he admires Jackman hugely, Bertram sends up such comparisons in his own song, I Want To Be Hugh Jackman, which featured in his successful one-man show in Sydney's Kings Cross.
The song finishes: "I've just realised that if I was Hugh Jackman, I'd never have time with Deborra-Lee, because I'd be off filming classics like X-Men 3. But one thing is clear, I would live in fear, because everyone would want to have sex with me. So to hell with being Hugh, I want to be me."
Last year Bertram got to meet Jackman, when he talked to students of WAAPA. "I was wearing a shirt my brother made me, which said 'Hugh Jackman thinks he looks like me'," says Bertram. "I stood up to ask him a question, and halfway through Hugh Jackman looked at me strangely, and then nearly fell off his seat laughing."

Brett Ratner is directing a new biopic movie about PLAYBOY founder Hugh Hefner. Oliver Stone originally was attached to this and it was originally a movie musical, but now it's a straight movie. Guess who's mentioned as the possible star - Hugh had mentioned this on his last appearance on THE VIEW - one of the gals made some sort of joke about Hefner I think and Hugh responded (paraphrasing) "actually there is a movie musical in the works about him" and last year when he was on Leno promoting X-Men he was telling a story and he mentioned that he had just had lunch with Oliver Stone, so I bet you it was about this project, so this may not seem so far-fetched.
http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117969376.html?categoryId=13&cs=1
Ratner has two biopics lined up. Deep in development is a passion project on the life of Hugh Hefner.
"Hefner is an iconic symbol, like Che Guevara," Ratner says. "He had a great influence on the sexual revolution and the culture." Ratner thinks either Johnny Depp or Hugh Jackman would make a great Hef.

The Bourne Identity, the first of the Bourne books, was published in 1980. Windsor-Smith's Weapon X wasn't published until 1992. That said, the Bourne books are very different from the Bourne movies (or at least the last two movies anyway).

Hollywood golden couple Hugh Jackman and wife Deborah-lee Furness headed the galaxy of stars at the Red Ball fundraising gala at the Docklands last night.
They were joined by Sigrid Thornton, Daniel MacPherson, Patti and Lauren Newton, Matt Welsh, David Boon, Dean Jones and Steve and Terry Bracks. The charity funds will help give hope to people with leukaemia and other life-threatening cancers.

The hair and the beard is the "look" for AUSTRALIA, which he's in the middle of filming. Word is he flew on Saturday from Kununurra in the Outback to Melbourne - almost a 7 hr. flight - went to rehearsals, and then the show that night. He probably has to fly back on Sunday. It was reported that he only got about four hours of sleeps and he was pretty exhausted but still put on a great show, although not as "enthusiastically" as he normally does. There's a very funny report from a volunteer here - always carry your IPod with Hugh songs LOL!

THE highly-classified details of the APEC leaders' uniform for the traditional final photo has been one of the most closely guarded summit secrets - but now the colours of the costume can be revealed as red, yellow, blue and green.
And actor Hugh Jackman will host the gala dinner tonight where leaders will sit down to a feast of tuna, yabbies and caviar, all sipped with Australian wines.
* He may be doing a play in Sydney next year.

They're STILL trying to revive the western?
It's not a western - it's set in Australia prior to WWII and Hugh plays an Australia drover/stockman who helps an English aristocrat save her cattle ranch and in the process, they run in to the bombing of Darwin by the Japanese in WWII. It's being described as a romantic action/adventure. It has nothing to do with the American western - some of it is based on a part of Australian history that hasn't been told and about people in Australia that most don't know about (stockman, Aborgines, the beautiful and harsh western Australian landscape) and almost 100% of the cast and crew is Australian (Hugh, Nicole Kidman, Baz Luhrmann the director, David Wenham, Bryan Brown and a host of others).
If you want to talk about reviving the western, mention "3:10 to Yuma" or "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford."

I wonder - when Oscar broke his arm/hand/wrist (never really clear what it was) in Bowen in June when he fell out of a tree if he was wearing crocs then also! I don't think I've ever seen him in sneakers. At least it hasn't deterred him from climbing! But this time daddy is there to watch (Hugh was on the AUSTRALIA set the last time when Oscar fell and broke whatever it was).

He's going to have facial hair for at least another four months since he's going right from AUSTRALIA to WOLVERINE. The last time we saw him clean-shaven was at the Oscars in February - although we have seen him clean-shaven in pictures of him as "Nicky Fontana" in "Viva Laughlin!" which premieres on CBS on Oct. 18. He filmed that episode in March, but in the second episode, Nicky has a beard! Anyway, he needs the beard for his role in AUSTRALIA, and by the time he shaves the facial hair off and we see his clean-shaven mug again, it will be almost a full year with the facial hair.
And it sounds like Hugh's son is going to have a cameo in AUSTRALIA (love the way the girls are staring LOL):

Hugh Jackman makes a splash at Bondi
October 01, 2007 12:00am
AT first glance, he could have been just another father enjoying Sydney's stunning long weekend weather at Bondi Beach.
But Hugh Jackman didn't manage to go unnoticed for long as he read a book to son Oscar on the sand yesterday. The Hollywood star braved the chilly Bondi surf with his boy, making trips into the water with his son by his side.
Oscar, who is reported to have played a cameo in his father's new film Australia, then lay next to his dad as he read a novel. The seven-year-old had a body board with him for a typical day at the beach.
Jackman cut a fine figure as he strode out of the waves with his buffed chest, drawing the attention of women on the beach. Only the interest from the ladies, who called out to friends about his presence, set him apart from the rest of the dads.
The actor has often been spotted enjoying Sydney's beaches with Oscar and daughter Ava.
Jackman will finish filming Australia with Nicole Kidman within weeks and is then due to star in Wolverine.

He's so busy with filming Australia that he most likely just enjoyed a quiet family get together.

Well, I watched Viva Laughlin last night. Jackman did have a supporting part in the first show. He played a wealthy casino owner and I just didn't really like the part. He just played the part of a rich jerk/playboy. He played the part well, cause he made me really dislike that guy......lol.
There were songs in the show which the actors sang to (but the original singer was singing also). So like Viva Las Vegas was playing with Elvis and the actor was singing along to the music walking here or there and throwing in a few dance steps. I just figure, if the show has to do with music also, then why not let the actors sing themselves with just the music. It was very hard to hear them over Elvis.....
I was watching this show and just thinking to myself "It's too bad that Jackman put money into this... I don't think it's gonna be signed for a whole season."
I'm not sure how many shows they have filmed already, but as I said, if they're not already signed for a whole season....... then I believe this might run 3-5 shows and then disappear from the air waves. I don't even think a different channel will pick it up...... but that's just my opinion.

There's a picture of the guys in Nicky's (Hugh's character) office. While I was watching last night I cracked up laughing! I believe on the corner of the desk is a Hugh Jackman Bobblehead (maybe it's supposed to be his character from the show).
I started laughing and my dh is like what? I said..... look..... right...... there! I think that's a HJ bobblehead. I think he think's I'm crazy lol.

I saw it - I thought it was okay. Thought Hugh was the best part of the whole thing. That being said, the ratings apparently were not great and I don't expect them to be any better on Sunday in it's regular slot - doesn't sound like it will be long for this world. I think they ordered 13 episodes but that doesn't mean they will all air. I think the next episode Hugh appears in (with a beard apparently because he was filming AUSTRALIA when he made his appearance) is the fourth one.

Actually Hugh just signed some kind of deal with CBS to do stuff for television - not sure in what capacity, so we may be seeing more stuff from his production company.
He performed at a benefit last night called "A Fine Romance" where stars of stage and screen past and present performed - reports were that he arrived from Australia at 1:00, rehearsed, performed, and then was back on a plane by 11:30!!! He also said at the benefit that AUSTRALIA was a day ahead of schedule and there was another story today that filming is going to last until the end of next month!!!!

CBS cancels 'Viva Laughlin'
Network axes show after two episodes
By MICHAEL SCHNEIDER
'Viva Laughlin'
CBS is singing the blues over “Viva Laughlin,” which has been officially canceled after just two episodes.
Emmy winner “The Amazing Race” will take “Laughlin’s” place in the Sunday 8 p.m. slot - where the reality show resided last year - effective Nov. 4. A repeat “CSI” will run in the time period next week.
“Laughlin” becomes this season’s first scripted series casualty. Eye initially had high hopes for “Laughlin,” starting with the imprint of exec producer Hugh Jackman. Show was based on the hit BBC series “Viva Blackpool,” about a gambler who opens a casino but winds up in the middle of a murder investigation. The series repped part of the net’s attempt to create some buzz with shows that weren’t CBS’ normal fare. In this case, “Laughlin” included characters that sang (and sometime danced) along to hit songs to advance the plot.
But critics were generally unimpressed with “Laughlin,” and viewers mostly stayed away. Show tanked in its premiere Sunday night airing, averaging just a 1.2 rating and 3 share among adults 18-49. That came after a disappointing Thursday night bow in the post-”CSI” time slot.
In the end, even the net appeared to distance itself from the show, mostly stripping promos of any mention of the sing-along gimmick.
Jackman, John Palermo, Bob Lowry, Paul Telegdy and Peter Bowker exec produced “Viva Laughlin,” which came from BBC Worldwide Prods., Sony Pictures TV and CBS Paramount Network TV. Lloyd Owen, Madchen Amick, Carter Jenkins, D.B. Woodside and Eric Winter starred in the show.
Eye is still determining what to do with the remaining episodes of “Viva Laughlin,” such as streaming them online or placing them on a cable outlet.Source:http://www.variety.com/VR1117974484.html

Honestly...I finally watched it last night and I was fast-forwarding through parts of it. Hugh was great, but he was the only part of the show worth watching.
But the rest of it...meh. I thought the whole 18-year-old daughter dating the 42-year-old teacher was creepy. The cop was conducting the dumbest line of questioning on the other guy's wife I've ever seen. It just wasn't great.
It's too bad. Oh well, hopefully they'll move on to a better show.

I mean, of course we know it wasn't all his fault, but he was the biggest name involved and I saw many reviews making fun of him, as if he was the one who should take all the blame. Even the Australian papers are doing it. And we know how the media people can be mean, and I'm sure they won't let him forget "his" failure for a long time to come.

I don't think anyone had high hopes for the show. It wasn't heavily promoted, and I didn't see any of the shows stars promoting it anywhere. I've seen some ads for it around the city, but that was really it.
If there was a lot of hype and it died (like Studio 60 or The Nine last year), that would be bad. But there was almost no hype, it only ran for 2 episodes, clearly not a lot of people saw it, and it will probably be forgotten quickly enough.
He really needs a better show...this one wasn't very good at all.

Jackman Disappointed TV Show Was Axed
SYDNEY, Australia (AP) -- Hugh Jackman's wife and business partner says the couple are disappointed their "Viva Laughlin" TV series has been canceled.
CBS axed the show in the U.S. after airing only two episodes because of low ratings. Australia's Nine Network pulled it after a single airing.
"We are obviously very disappointed, but you have to take risks in this business," Deborra-Lee Furness said Wednesday in Sydney.
The offbeat song-and-dance drama, based on the British miniseries "Viva Blackpool," drew largely poor reviews in the U.S.
"Viva Laughlin" was the first project for Jackman's Australian production company, Seed, which he owns with Furness.
"Doing a drama that is a musical is going to be a huge risk," Furness said. "If I'm going to fail, I want to fail spectacularly, and it seems like we did."
Furness described her 39-year-old husband, who had a minor role in the show, as "fabulous."
"He did it for fun," she said.
Jackman is the star of the "X-Men" films.
That was great.

Finally a US release date for THE TOURIST - only now it's called THE LIST - there was a name change.
April 25, 2008.

I don't get it...if Hugh's movie was the first one to be produced, why should it change its name instead of Clooney's film? Just because it's George Clooney he has privileges? :cmad:
I prefer "The Tourist"...it sounds intriguing, dangerous. "The List" is too bland a name... :csad:

I think it's because Clooney's movie is based on a book by the same name. "The List" is the name of the sex club that Wyatt (Hugh) introduces Jonathan (Ewan McGregor) to, so it's appropriate to the movie. I think "The List" is kinda mysterious too - people may be asking "what is this list????"

Yeah, I'm assuming George probably has a lot more pull than Hugh. :cwink:
Glad to hear it's being released, finally!! They were filming that right near my office about this time last year. :woot:

Probably because Clooney's THE TOURIST will be based on a book with the exact same name. I know to each his own, but I like THE LIST better anyway since it refers to the name of the sex club LOL - don't have a clue what THE TOURIST refers to (touring sex clubs???).

I think "The Tourist" has to do with exploring new territories, adventures that may turn into dangerous ones. The tourist never belongs, he's just passing through. I guess the title refers to Ewan's character and his discovery of the sex clubs. Maybe "The List" is more comprehensive, but I like "The Tourist" more...

Okay................. so I am officially now considered obsessed with Hugh Jackman.
The Hype News will be doing a story on posters obsessed with celebrities, and I was also sent a questionairre.
I'm just wondering exactly what they're gonna put in that report. :p
Maybe they'll post the quick poem I was asked to make up about my celeb.
Course it's not ALL true, I've only had 3 dreams in the 3 months I've been obsessed with Hugh, not one everynight, but oh well.
So, before it gets posted on the news.......... here's my poem:
Hugh, Hugh, the hottest man,
I just might be his #1 fan,
His lips look soft, his eyes so deep,
I dream of him often as I sleep.
A hug within his muscular arms,
A smile given to me with all his charms:
Two of the things I wish for if we ever meet
because he's a gentleman and will be sweet.
Hope y'all had a good laugh :D

yeah......... if Hugh saw it, he'd figure I was some crazy girl that was obsessed with his muscles and only saw him as a hunk of meat.
Little would he know I'm pretty normal and am married with kids and really admire him for his GREAT acting. I mean, wow, his acting in The Fountain was AWESOME!! Weird movie, but GREAT acting
Then again, he'll never see my poem........ and I'm sure the people that work for him (press secretaries or whatever they're called) don't hang around on this site or thread lol!!
But, man I would still love to meet him one day :)
