Yeah, ditto. I didn't know that he was going to do three different accents in The Fountain. This movie is starting to interest me more and more.

Hugh is pretty good with accents (one of these days he'll do a movie with his own!) but it never even dawned on me that there would be different accents in this movie - I just assumed they would be American accents throughout. I guess Spanish accents may be used for the past sequences and I'm sure American will be the present, but I wonder what the future would be!
Spanish? this is going to be funny!!!!!

Spanish? this is going to be funny!!!!!
I'm only assuming some kind of Spanish dialect since in the past portion of the movie he's a Spanish conquistador and Rachel is the queen of Spain.
i cant wait to see the fountain, not keen on hugh being bald though...

From the AICN set report:
http://www.aint-it-cool-news.com/display.cgi?id=19803
Once Aronofsky and I went back down the ladder to the stage floor, we were joined by Hugh Jackman. If you remember Brad Pitt’s wild-man look he was cultivating for the film, that’s pretty much the exact opposite of what Jackman looks like in the space sequences. He’s gaunt, so thin that he almost doesn’t look like himself. It’s not quite as drastic as Christian Bale’s physical change in THE MACHINIST, but it’s shocking. If anything, it’s moreso because Jackman shaved his head completely.
”Oh my god,” I said. “When did you do that?”
Jackman chuckled as he ran his hand over his skin-smooth cranium. “About four days ago,” he said. “What do you think of it?”
Aronofsky mentioned how much he liked the look, and Jackman looked relieved. “Darren got lucky. I was bald once before, back when I was in school. Everyone called me ‘Peahead,’ so I’m just glad this worked out.”
If this film’s going to be a challenge for Rachel Weisz, it’s going to be a defining moment for Jackman. So far, we’ve only seen a little bit of what he’s capable of as an actor. I’m a fan of his X-MEN work, but let’s face it... genetics dealt him a kind hand. He gives the best squint since the young Clint Eastwood as Wolverine, and it would be hard not to seem like a badass when you’ve got adamantium claws. Films like SWORDFISH and KATE & LEOPOLD reveal an amiable leading man, but they haven’t pushed him at all. Here, he’s going to have to play physical and emotional extremes that any actor would find taxing.

I don't think I want to know why he was compelled to shave his head back in school.
He even had a dialect coach for "The Boy From Oz," I found this in my playbill from "Avenue Q" (which is freakin' hilarious, btw):
"Hugh Jackman's Tony-winning skills as singer/dancer/charmer are so conspicuous in "The Boy From Oz" that you may have missed some acting subtleties--i.e., you'd think that, being an Aussie, he wouldn't need special coaching to play one, but you'd be wrong. Hugh hired accent specialist Stephen Gabis to help him nail Peter Allen's Americanized Australian. Very hard r's, I've been told."

Oh, Rod has so many issues... :)
For those who don't know, "Avenue Q" is a musical that's kind of a spoof of "Sesame Street" with adult puppets. It's HILARIOUS, and just wrong on so many levels (their version of Cookie Monster has an internet porn addiction).
Rod was the Republican investment banker who spends most of the show insisting he's not gay, and his best friend Nicky (no relation to Bert and Ernie at all!) keeps trying to out him in front of all of their friends.
So they did a ton of promo stuff before the Tonys that Rod had a crush on Hugh. They even had an "interview" at Playbill.com where Rod said he'd seen "The Boy From Oz" more than 500 times.
See?
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/JenM512/rod.jpg
I remember after Rod kissed him at the Tonys, Rod ran off the stage yelling "I DID IT! YES! YES!!!"

Yep, the blue guy is Rod, the guy playing Rod is John Tartaglia, who was also nominated for a Best Actor Tony award that year. (Guess who won?) :)
The brunette puppet is the hopelessly single Kate Monster, and the blonde puppet Hugh is kissing is Lucy The ****.
Actually, I just realized that in Rod and Nicky's first song, Rod is trying to tune out Nicky by reading his book ("Broadway Musicals of the 1940s") out loud. So as Nicky is singing, Rod is yelling "High Button Shoes!! Pal Joey!!"
And the big rumor right now is that Hugh might be coming back to Broadway next year in a revival of "Pal Joey." I'll bet Rod has his tickets already.

I wish some stuff would come out in American magazines already! The new Entertainment Weekly has Superman on the cover - it doesn't say "Summer Preview Issue" on it so maybe they are saving that for X-3 (she says hopefully) - X-3 has GOT to get its own cover!
seems like they are doing a lot more worldwide promotion this time around than in america, probably because americans are much more aware of the xmen so it doesnt need as much promotion

Possibly Hugh's next project after he completes his BFO arena tour (I read Lee hopes to film in late fall):
Spike Lee interview:
http://www.wanadoo.co.uk/entertainment/film/spike_lee_interview.htm
What's next for you?
Spike Lee: I'm hopefully doing a film called Save Us, Joe Louis. It's about [boxers] Joe Louis and Max Schmeling. Terrence Howard, the recent Academy Award nominee, is going to play Joe Louis and Hugh Jackman is going to play Max Schmeling and it's going to be an epic – bigger than Malcolm X. Hitler, Goebbels, Sugar Ray Robinson, Mussolini, all these people.<<<
Some of you may remember Hugh was supposed to film a movie called "Good" last year starring Jason Isaacs but it was postponed. Sounds like Hugh might be out of it if I read this correctly - Jason Isaacs gave an interview at the 2006 Sony Ericsson Empire Awards on March 12. I'm not quite sure when this movie will film since I thought I read that Jason is doing a TV mini-series from April-August and Hugh is doing BFO through mid-September. But maybe Hugh dropped out because of the Spike Lee movie (if true) since that would be more commercial and epic and both characters (Schmeling and John Halder in "Good") were Germans during the Hitler era.
http://www.empireonline.com/interviews_and_events/interview.asp?IID=484
>>So is Good finally happening?
Yes, Good is back on. Last year we had the actor, a fantastic actor, but we didn’t quite have all the money. We had almost every piece but literally the bit that funded the mobile phones until the giant cheque arrived, but then it all collapsed because Hugh (Jackman) had to go off and do X-Men 3 and I had a shoot as well. This week we’ve got all the money. We haven’t as yet got the actor but there are a number of people who want to do it. <<

Wolverine has a chance of being recasted down the line for X-Men sequels but the Wolverine spinoff is definitely Jackman.
The character is close to his heart though, wolverine launched his hollywood movie career. He owes a lot to him and i dont think he would let the role go that easily :)

He has said that he doesn't wanna play the character forever and his contracts are up after Wolverine. And I think he respects the character enough not to continue it forever because Logan isn't supposed to age like everyone else remember? I love Hugh but if recasting has to happen I can accept it.

Kutcher admits he was "wicked" and "evil" when he picked on the X-MEN star - because Jackman really thought he'd wrecked the RUSH HOUR director's multi-million dollar home. The Punk'd presenter explains, "We do some nasty stuff. This year we blew up somebody's house... We got Hugh Jackman this year... We blew up Brett Ratner's house and made him feel like it was his fault, so it's sorta hard."

It hasn't aired yet - and I agree it will probably be closer to X3 since Brett is also involved. And what I'd like to know is - how do you convince someone that they blew up someone's house?????????? And my bet for Hugh's reaction - he will probably feel really bad and apologize profusely, offer to buy him another one, and then when he finds out it was a joke will think it was the greatest joke of all time.

This is about The Prestige (which wrapped on Saturday). Check out this location story and the picture that goes with it - this sounds magnificent. I think Hugh, David Bowie and Andy Serkis were the only actors there since Hugh's character is the one that goes to Colorado Springs to visit Nikola Tesla (Bowie). Since Hugh is now finished with this movie, and I don't think he has anything else planned until rehearsals start for his arena tour, maybe we'll start seeing and hearing more from him re X-3.

A little magic recently made its way into Marble and Redstone.
Last weekend, Touchstone Pictures was on location in the Crystal River Valley shooting scenes for the film "The Prestige." The $40-million movie, about turn-of-the-century rival magicians, starring Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Scarlett Johansson and David Bowie, is set in London and Colorado Springs. The Colorado scenes were filmed at the Redstone Castle and along the road toward Marble Friday and Saturday.
"There were a lot of electricians and carpenters - probably about 110 people involved. It was a big deal in Marble. I went up there," said Joyce Illian, a clerk at the Redstone General Store, where many of the film's crew came in daily for coffee breaks. "They used the area near the Nordic Ski Center for the train station. And they used the castle as the hotel where one of the magicians who traveled to Colorado Springs was visiting for an experimental lab with Nikola Tesla, who was a rival of Thomas Edison's."
Jackman was reportedly the only lead actor on location this weekend. Although he can't boast any celebrity spottings, Glenwood Springs resident Joe Llewellyn, who drove a dump truck filled with snow in case the set needed it, said he heard Jackman was filming.
"I was told he was there, and he was the second big actor in the movie," said Llewellyn, a Sunlight Mountain Resort ski patroller. "We were going to haul snow if they needed snow, but it turned out they didn't even need any. They manufactured snow."
Being on a movie set was the first Hollywood experience for Llewellyn.
"I'd never seen a film guy on a boom filming like that from above before," said Llewellyn, who helped build the roads leading up to the coal mines in Redstone before retiring. "They had a railroad car mounted on the back of the truck and they used that to show a train pulling away. They had a stage coach there, and they hauled horses all the way from California."
Llewellyn worked all day during the film crew's 12-hour shoot Saturday, waiting to deliver snow. He said he heard the footage shot would probably be brief.
"They said 45 seconds is all it would be in the movie," Llewellyn said. "I also heard they had some black hats and black cats that they turned loose at the castle and filmed."
A third-generation, lifelong resident of Glenwood, Llewellyn said he isn't the only member of his family to see the magic of Hollywood come to the area.
"When they were making 'The Great K&A Train Robbery,' Tom Mix was here," he said. "That was my mom's era - she got to see him."

Don't know if Brett makes an appearance or not. I had been corresponding with one of the crew members on The Prestige and that's how I first found out Hugh had been "Punk'd" - he told me before it hit the news and he said Hugh was telling them all about it on the set that Monday morning. But he wouldn't give me any details! He just said "watch for it." And he wouldn't give me ANY details about The Prestige - just a few non-spoilerish stuff - Christian Bale's last day was the week before Hugh, Piper Perabo plays Hugh's wife, not Christian's according to IMDB and he said she's "breathtaking", David Bowie is "quiet", Michael Caine and Scarlett Johansson filmed for about a month, he told me they would be filming in Colorado for four days at the beginning of April - stuff like that. No spoilers! :(
I'll check my tape tonight to see if there's anything on Hugh.

"What a face" is right! Someone called it "priceless" and I think that about covers it. I think the set-up has something to do with a barbecue because after the house blew up (or whatever they did), someone said to him "if we can save the facade of this house it will be a miracle" and then someone else just starts screaming at Hugh "shrimp on the barbie, and you can't even light a f***ng barbecue right!!!!!" and Hugh is just standing there looking STUNNED.

That's HORRIBLE!! I can't wait to see it! ;)
I did see a practical joke played on Hugh the last time I saw "The Boy From Oz":
During the nightclub scene in Act 2 (after he brought Elvis Costello, who was in the audience that night, up on stage to play with the band), he brought an intern, Amy, out on stage. Apparently they had made a bet over the summer Olympics, and Amy had lost. So, as part of the bet, she now had to eat half a jar of Vegemite on stage.
Hugh (in character), explained to us non-Aussies that Vegemite is "the most despicable stuff on earth."
So Amy came out onstage, a stagehand walked out with the Vegemite on a tray (with a little Australian flag sticking out of it)...and a bucket for her to puke into if she needed it. She didn't want to do it, but she finally did...then grabbed the bucket and ran off stage with it. Poor kid!!!
At which point, Hugh...after mimicking Amy's spitting into the bucket went looking for Elvis Costello's mom, who was also in the audience. "Aren't you glad you decided to see our show tonight? Broadway used to be so refined...now it's turned into Fear Factor!"
Anyway...they got back into the scripted part of the show. But during the scene where Peter Allen is meeting his agent for the first time, Michael Mulheren, who played the agent, suddenly took out his own Vegemite jar, and started eating from it right there in front of Hugh.
He never said his next line...the whole show just stopped, and everyone could see he was practically doubled over trying not to laugh. Jarrod Emmick, who played Peter's boyfriend Greg, patted him on the shoulder and when Hugh turned around, he was totally in tears trying not to laugh.
Meanwhile, Michael is still eating this stuff (which looked awful), shrugged like it wasn't bad at all...and then offered it to Hugh, who finally just doubled over laughing. The whole audience applauded...it was hysterical!!
Even Jarrod cracked up and had to walk away trying to say his next line. Finally Hugh just said "There's something WRONG with you!" to Michael, and they continued the scene.
Granted...no houses blew up, but it was still pretty funny! :)

That's what was so great about this show - you never knew what "Peter" was going to do! Hugh was so great with those unscripted moments.
BTW - I think the intern Amy is the niece of Kevin the stagedoor bodyguard, and I think she also interned on X3 (not exactly sure what her job was) if it's the same person that was mentioned on a message board.

Someone said that this is a dead Wolverine. Well if he were dead...his claws would of retracted. In X2 when he gets shot in the head...his claws retract. Same thing if he is knocked unconscious. So this is not a dead Wolverine.

Hugh and Deb do a lot for charity. You should have been at the stage door after every BFO show. :) He must have the patience of a saint, and there are so many wonderful stories about how he treated the mobs of fans there when it was absolutely crazy. They even had to have mounted policeman at times for crowd control.

And someone mentioned Wolverine during the actual BFO show and Hugh as Peter Allen said something like "he's a really handsome guy isn't he?" Hugh was great with the ad-libs during BFO - there's a part in the show where he stops the show and does "schtick" with the audience so he has to go with the flow - you try doing that eight times a week. The show had a website and message board and every day people would come on the message board and report what happened at the show the day before.
I have never met him even though I saw BFO four times - I'm not one to do the stage door/autograph thing. But I have read lots of stories from people who have and they are just glowing. There's a story where he was signing autographs at the stage door and there's a hotel across the street and some people were hanging out shouting "Wolverine!!!" and he gave them a thumbs up.
That was me! Not shouting "WOLVERINE!!", but I was across the street right near the guys who were shouting it. One guy even yelled "CYCLOPS!!" which made my sister crack up. But yeah...he cheered right back, and did it again from the car when he left.
It was hysterical (especially since I'm a total geek as well as a theater snob), but I was definitely impressed...most actors who do action movies usually get pretty cranky when someone brings those roles up when they're doing theater (and I can't really blame them), but he seemed like a pretty good sport about it. :)
And someone mentioned Wolverine during the actual BFO show and Hugh as Peter Allen said something like "he's a really handsome guy isn't he?"
That was me too! Not the one who mentioned Wolverine during the show, but I was in the audience that night. The guy mentioned something about X-Men, he repeated it back, and the audience just went crazy. And he never moved...he just said back to the guy "There's a CUTE guy in that." And the audience went beserk.
What impressed me about THAT was this guy had totally showed up late on purpose. Hugh/Peter would totally make a spectacle whenever someone walked in late--and it became such a popular part of the show that sometimes people walked in late on purpose just to get him to stop. This guy was a total show-off, I couldn't stand him!
So Hugh just wouldn't leave him alone for the rest of show, it was awesome. He made the guy (Hayes) get up and dance with him during Act 2. Hayes didn't want to do it...so Hugh kept saying "Hayes!" and gesturing up to the stage, then again, "Hayes!" while the guy was shaking his head, finally..."HAYES!!" sounding very Wolverine-like. Hayes almost ran up to the stage.
Hayes couldn't dance--so first the band did a Springsteen song and they did this pogo-thing. So then he tried to teach him to lap-dance. Hayes went into this god-awful thing where he was jumping on one foot with his hand on his head. Hugh/Peter stopped the band and yelled "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!"
So then he really had to give him dance lessons again--it was this whole "pretend your driving" thing. I remember he said "No, you're not Eminem, put your arm down!"
Finally he told the audience to give Hayes a round of applause, then imitated this guy in the front row pumping his arm in the air "No, he wasn't THAT good, cut that out."
It was awesome. :)

Pretty funny things happened when I was there too but not as wild as those! The funniest was when he picked on someone and asked him who he was there with and he pointed out another guy and "Peter" said "are you a couple?" and it turns out they were. I forget the rest of the schtick, but "Peter" got one of them to wave and he waved like royalty (you know how they do that hand-wave thing) and "Peter" said something along those lines, and the guy actually answered "that's because I'm a royal queen." Well, Peter practically fell on the floor laughing. He also got the couple to dance in the aisle! Hugh got the people he picked on to say and do the darndest things!
He told two great stories on Regis & Kelly - there was a rather large woman in the front row dancing and "Peter" said something to her like "oh, you like to dance? Well, dahling, whatever you take off I'll take off" not thinking she would - and Hugh said she actually took her top off! He said he was shocked and the orchestra stopped reading the NY Times  and he said "believe me, she had a lot to cover!" Apparently she had a camisole on underneath. Another time a couple got engaged at the show - the guy sent a note backstage telling Hugh he wanted to propose during the show so "Peter" picked on the guy and told the audience he wanted to do something special to his girlfriend and he proposed right there in the audience.
This is why so many fans went back time and again - not just for his unbelievable performance but to see what would happen at every show.
Wow. I'm now tempted to go to his show when he comes here.

That's right, you live in Australia! You MUST go! Although not quite sure if it will be the same as Broadway since that was an intimate theater and the Australia shows are arena shows that hold thousands of people. There are quite a few "Ozalots" traveling to the other side of the world just to see him perform! Unfortunately for me, the 24-hr. flight and my bank account couldn't take it. :) I am SURE we will get many reports - most of the fans that are going are attending more than one show.

Ok, I know this is a stupid question. I watched the video really fast this morning before I got ready to go to work and I didn't really pay attention to any of the dialogue, just the interviews. I didn't think you could make out anything else but now it seems you can since people are reporting on stuff (like this Wolverine line). I can't watch it again until I get home from work so my question is - can you really understand things other than the interviews? And where in the video is the Wolverine line? Damn, I hate when I'm rushed!

Yeah, for some reason I ended up going on nights when he certainly seemed to be hitting the caffiene before the show. :p
I wasn't even supposed to be there the night of the whole Hayes thing--some friends wound up with an extra ticket at the last minute and they called me at work and invited me.
But the last time I went, a glass broke during the little boy's song, and a few minutes later, when a stagehand ran out with a broom to try and clean it up, Hugh stopped the show, introduced Ian the stagehand to the audience, and finally took the broom from him and starting cleaning the stage himself.
THEN...and this was the coolest of all, Elvis Costello was in the audience that night. During the nightclub scene, he got Elvis to come up on stage and play a song with the band. It was SO awesome!
Elvis played "Pump It Up," and Hugh was dancing around like a lunatic for the whole thing. He also had a stagehand run out on stage and take a Polaroid of the whole thing, and by the end of it was doing the "not worthy!" bow in front of Elvis. I was up in the balcony seats---everyone was standing and cheering. It was great!
After Elvis went back to his seat (and how cool is Elvis Costello to come up on stage??)...Hugh said "Elvis, you made my year!!" and the apologized to the audience since we now had to listen to him for the next hour.
I swear, I've been going to B'way shows since I was 5, and I'd never seen such total craziness happen onstage. It was awesome. I've seen a lot of movie stars on stage...but he's just total blast to watch. :)

Oh, you should...Broadway shows (most of them) are really great. :)
"The Boy From Oz" was actually ripped to shreds by the critics. I didn't read most of the reviews, since the Yankees were in the playoffs at the time and I hadn't realized the show had opened...but I do remember the NY Times commenting that Hugh's shoulders must be killing him to "have to carry this whole show night after night."
In fact, when I saw it the first time, we got our tickets at the half-price ticket booth in Times Square.
It's a good show. Not the greatest I've ever seen...but far from the worst, either. The performances were just fantastic all around, and it was a lot of fun to watch. My only memory of Peter Allen before I saw the show was this flop musical he did back in 80s, and now I can say I have a whole new appreciation for the guy. :)
And it totally defied the critics...within a few months, it was totally selling out every night, and you definitely couldn't half-price tickets anymore!

Well other shows like Rent I have heard about and was just never interested. I even heard a song from Rent and I thought it was just irritating.
OK, hold on..."Rent" is one of my favorite shows. I've seen it on Broadway, on tour in Chicago, and in London. Unfortunately, they completely saturate the airwaves with "Seasons of Love" so much that even I'm sick of hearing it. Seriously...the music in that is great, and the stage version is better than the movie (although I liked the movie too).
Musicals can be tough because it is weird to see people constantly bursting into song...but if the music is good, you can enjoy the show. I love all kinds of music, so I really enjoy it.
Also, not everything is a musical. I've seen Ralph Fiennes in "Hamlet," I saw Phillip Seymour Hoffman in an Off-Bway play, and next month I'm seeing Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in "The Odd Couple," which I can't wait for.

I remember one of the stories where Richard Roxburgh, who played Dracula in Van Helsing, was in the audience right around the time the movie premiered, and Hugh/Peter picked on him! I can't remember the whole story right now but as usual it was a riot.
And how about the stories to that last show when he called Barbara Walters and Matt Damon onstage and he and Matt gave Barbara a lapdance? Tickets for that last show were being scalped for thousands of dollars if you can believe it and were going for a mint from brokers and on E-bay.
Hugh is such a trouper - he never missed a performance, he did the show being exhausted, sick with colds (a couple of times on stage he said "the meds have kicked in") and from I think April through September with a stress fracture in his foot where he wasn't able to do his high-kick clicking of his heels that he does at one point during the first 10 mins. of the show. But he did it on closing night and the audience ate it up!

I'm not sure if I'm really buying into the idea of a Massive Braveheart/Lord of the Rings final battle..
it just seems too blunt for an X-Men film. I mean X-men was always epic in the sense that the characters actions were so important to the universe and through their actions the fate of the universe was decided bla bla blah, not necessary about harnessing armies of troops to decide the fate of the universe for them.
Anyway, thats a badly written exposition of my thoughts but the long and short of it is, for me, a braveheart style battle doesnt really feel right.
Im learning to accept the idea of Wolvie become a 'leader' even the comic fan part of me screams "No! Thats an abomination of the character and the team!" but the movie fan part of me is starting to say "You know, that does sort of make sense given the previous films".

Sometimes, like in the mansion attack scene, they use both like this picture shows
http://www.jackmanslanding.com/gallery/film-stage-tv/images/x-men-2/fox5.jpg
They use stubby claws so that no one gets hurt during the fight scenes and then they just extend them with CGI afterwards. The prosthetics are moulded to the shape of hughs hand for example: http://www.jackmanslanding.com/gallery/film-stage-tv/images/x-men-2/slide03.jpg
on the end of those claws in hughs palm there is a bar that they are attatched to so all he has to do is clench them in a fist and they just stay there.
EDIT: Speaking of hugh getting hurt, i found this before on IMDB in the trivia for x men 1:
Hugh Jackman got his testicles caught in his harness after a 6 foot jump off the set's Statue of Liberty
ouch
So people have an idea of what your refferring to,

The coming attraction of Hugh getting "punk'd" was on an Elijah Wood board since he was also featured in the same preview. Hugh is at the end.

Live theater is just awesome.
You ssaw Ralph Fiennes in Hamlet??!!!!!!! I hate you:mad:
yes i a am an envious little thing......:(
