This year is unreal for boston....

#2 team in NCAA football.
Patriots are un-frickin-real
Red Sox in the World Series again, after coming back from 3-1.

All they need now is the NBA, NCAA Basketball, and Hockey.

the celtics dont dominate the NBA... i meant that as in the sports they arent dominating right now...

Steve Rogers
10-22-2007, 07:10 PM
With Garnett, Pierce and Allen, they just might dominate the NBA. Bruins are 5-2 right now, which isn't great, but it's great for the B's. It's also great to be from Mass. right now. I was just talking to a co worker about this this morning. This might (emphasis on might) be the best year for Boston sports in a looooooooooooooooong time.

yea, im from atlanta though, so im jealous of boston sports lol....my braves suck, my thrasher suck, my falcons suck, my hawks suck in the regular season but our 5-1 now preseason (which doesnt say much) but they are younger and getting better each season...

but Boston this year is unreal...if the celtics do what they talent says they can do, boston has potentially a superbowl champion, nba champion, bcs champion, world series champion, hell even throw the potential stanley cup in there.

i dont think ive ever seen one city dominate like this.

My sister was a HUGE Mets fan, and I remember the video she bought about the win afterwards that chronicled the whole season.

That phrase and "Swing and a miss. Swing and a miss. Struck him out, struck him out." after Jesse Orasco? through the final out are pretty much one of the most vivid sports announcing memories that I personally can recall.

Well he played some of 87 in Boston, and I believe he asked to be traded. He came back to Boston in 1990 though and was absolved of all his sins.

Yeah I feel sorry for him. I hope he didn't actually think he "sinned" and had to be forgiven for it. They still blew Game 7. Its the same thing with the whole Bartman situation with the Cubs. I don't call that game the "Bartman game" I call it the "Alex Gonzalez Game" because right after that incident a double play ball that would have ended the inning bounced to then SS Gonzalez and he bobbled it and everyone was safe. But no one remembers him.

He might be a douche, but he's a damn good coach...and before we go into "Spygate" or all that nonsense, all the teams in the NFL spy on the other team's while they are practicing. The Pats just got caught doing it, but to claim this makes them cheaters in relation to the rest of the league is ridiculous.

No offense, and not even speaking as a Red Sox fan, but the Yankees are going to suck for quite a while. Next year will most definitely be a rebuilding year, especially since they didn't pick up Santana and lost Joe Torre. Joe is the only reason that team did well. The Yankees will be lucky to make it into the playoffs next year, hell, they'd be lucky to be in third place in their division.

My advice to New Yorkers, put your faith in the Mets. That's the only shot in Baseball you got.

Doesn't matter what every other team is or isn't doing. The Patriots knowingly broke the rules to give them an unfair advantage over other teams. How is this not cheating?

Yes it does:huh: . Cheating is defined in relative terms. If all teams spy on other teams, which they do, then it's a level playing field. The Patriots aren't giving themselves some unfair advantage, in fact they'd be knowingly putting themselves at a disadvantage by not doing it. This would be like someone singling out Ronnie Coleman and saying "He's taking steroids, he's cheating in Bodybuilding" when the fact is every one he's competing against is taking them (and yes, we have laws against doing them).

Rules in sports are made to be broken and circumvented. In college Rugby they used to coach us in "dirty" playing techniques, in soccer in High School they used to show us how to foul someone without getting caught. All teams, coaches and managers understand that rules in sports only end up applying to those who get caught.

I don't think cheating should ever be perceived as "acceptable"; if this is the case, then sports will lose its appeal since victories will be seen as tainted and as a result of good cheating.

I've played Rugby, Soccer, and scored Vollyball, Basketball and Football games throughout my High School and College athletic careers. I've found in all those years, you can take steroids, tape practices and even play dirty, but at the end of the day the better team typically wins. Cheating ultimately does not help you much in an arena whose victor is largely determined by talent.

Buchholz is one of the highest rated prospects and proved he could pitch at the ML level last year in his appearences. Dice-K will have less pressure and will have 1 year of ML experience under his belt. If Beckett can have the bounce-back year he did in 07, Dice-K can have one as well. Not saying he wins 20 games, but he can be an effective #2.
