"They give you deadlines for a reason. So you know how long you have NOT to do it."

As long as everyone gets their posts up before Monday, that's all the matters.

...And as long as your posts don't suck. :oldrazz:
That doesn't really matter to you...you judges have become the teachers grading papers.

I'm not going to be able to make that. I've been working over 60 hours this past week, and I was under the impression that we had more time for this, so I haven't even started yet. It'd probably be best for my team if you reassigned this week's scenario to someone else and gave them a little extension to make up for the lost time.

Hmm... I'll have to see what the other Judges think. It would be kind of unfair to have one team take so much extra time and get the benefit of seeing what everyone else has done already. I don't know why you got the impression that you had more time... I thought it was quite clear. Sorry dude.

After a quick chat with a fellow Judge, we have decided that the best thing for Team Six would be to have a Reserve Player write their post. So, if any of the Reserve Players are having a boring Sunday, and feel like they can put up the entire post by midnight, please do!

Otherwise Team Six, you're screwed for the first week. :csad:

First Reserve Player to state that they are up to the challenge in this thread will get to play.

TheCorpulent1

UPDATE!

I've spoken to nearly all the Judges. Damn it's hard to decide...

One thing we have agreed on: We're giving BL until noon tomorrow! At that time, if he has not posted, his team will be out of luck.

This also means that a player from the Reserve List may post for Team Six by that time as well. Just remember, you must announce that you've decided to do the job in this thread. First one to do so gets the position. That should also prevent us from having more than one person working on a post (however unlikely that may be).

I couldn't be more happy with the posts we recieved. Seriously. They really floored me. Good job all of you! We'll see you tomorrow at noon.

Look for a new Initial Scenario at that time too! :word:

And it's a good thing too that my school got a delay today, or I never would of got it up before noon, since I get out at 12:30. And thanks for the extension judges. If it weren't for it, my team would've got no points, since I was at the hospital well past 2am. I also thank you guys for the support you guys are giving me about my situation with my mom. It really makes me feel better. Well, of to school. See you all at 12:30.:woot::up:

Okay guys... I know I'm being extremely lax with the rules but I'm going to go ahead and grant Team Six another extension. If someone on that team, or a Reserve Player, can have a post up by 7PM it will be considered for judging.
I only do this because I have an exam 'till 6 so I can't possibly get the Initital Scenario up before then. Also, none of my fellow Judges seem to be online, so we might as well wait until 7 tonight.
Sorry for the delay to everyone who's been waiting patiently. This will be the absolute FINAL extension.

Alright guys, Week 1 is now over. Sorry Team Six... take comfort in the fact that it's not too late to catch up. It's only been a week! Here are my picks...

WINNER (2 points): Spidey's Super-Fan
A long read, but definitely worth it. Very creative in terms of his use of the main character. Allowed him to have second thoughts without making him a victim. Plot was structured creatively and was very interesting. Well thought out with a clear, organized format. Narration and dialogue were awesome. You can tell alot of work went into this. Very impressive. Great job!

RUNNER-UP (1 point): Mr. Marko
Another great read. I enjoyed his take on the policeman. The background that was provided really made me feel for the guy who would get caught in the middle of all this. Mikey's motives were clear and the supporting cast was fleshed out enough to feel real, without being distracting. Nice epilogue too!

Byrd's Picks: Week 1

Before we begin. I'm going to say this, good job to EBJ, Marko, and BL. You all did well and brought quality to this week's post. That being said, for me it came down to Harl and SSF.

Harl: Your hiest was excellently done. Giving all the members of the crew skills, names and personalities. It had a Ocean's Eleven feel to it (not because of a guy named Danny Ocean, but the hiest was to be done as quickly and quietly as possible.) Your Mikey was probably my favorite, that scene with his pregnant girlfriend and the track marks on her arm blew me away. I also enjoyed how it played out. Once things went to ****, it went to **** quickly. The ending was pretty good overall, it left the door wide open. Damn good post.

SSF: You did something nobody else did, you took Mikey and made him the ringleader. He was still the youngest, but unlike the rest he wasn't roped into it. It was all his idea and his grand plan. Your Mikey wasn't as sympathetic as the others, and that helped you in my eyes. Way to think out of the box with that. Your post setup as awesome, the way the story skipped around and fed you little pieces of a grander story. You story had a feel of the movie Inside Man, due to the fact that it was very slight of hand/ You get us thinking about the money and then, you show the big plan, revenge. I also liked how you twisted your goals, a teammate was injured, but Mikey did it. Someone recognized him...well his twin brother. Excellent work.

That being said, SSF you are my winner (2) and Harl is my runner up (1)

WINNER: 2 Points - Harlekin

Though I greatly enjoyed reviewing all of the entries, no one got more what I envisioned when we were planning the initial sceneario better than Harl. His Mikey was a sympathetic, humanistic regular joe who got caught in the wrong crowd at the wrong time, for clearly all the wrong reasons. The scene where Mikey's girlfriend argued with him over their unborn baby to get a fix was both powerful and shocking to read. And while his story didn't end clearly, it ended with something much more clever, in my eyes. Harl left it open to interpretation. Did Mikey get shot? Did he plead to the officer not to take him in? Did he run? We'll never know. And I'd rather not, because it'd ruin the posts quality and mystique. Well done, Harl.

RUNNER-UP: 1 Point - Spidey's Super Fan

Even if I liked Harl's better for his powerful characterization, I'd say this was the most well crafted of the bunch, in terms of mere story. His Mikey isn't as sympathetic, but that just goes to show you that not everyone's innocent. Skipping back and forth between before and after the robbery, SSF gives us what feels like a greatly concieved crime mystery from the getgo, throwing in twists and turns as the reader goes through it. His Mikey is a hateful guy, and willing to go through with the robbery. But not because of money, but, rather, because of the simple need to be somebody more. And once more, his ending twist of the brother being arrested for the crime instead was, to put it mildly, excellent stuff. SSF, in my eyes, has turned from a great writer to one of the greatest on this board, with that post. Just absolutely well done.

Pink font of Judgment! I admit that as a judges I was the *last* to read all of them. So I am sorry for the delay. :)

I have to say that all of them were fantastic reads, and honestly, if this keeps up I might actually be able to cut out 'book buying' in my monthly budget. ^_^

I'll be breaking my review up in two segments. Preliminary: concerning the writing, style, plot etc and then a view over of the conditions since I need a list of those things.
______________________________________________

That said, on to the favorite two:

SSF

Preliminary
This was the most unique take of the scenario out of all the other ones written. The introduction and conclusion were fantastic displays of very well done writing and I was left green with envy (which doesn't happen often). The body also left little to be desired, it's hard to bounce back and forth in time and still keep it cohesive in terms of readers understanding where they are in time. It was a bit confusing in some places and I got tired of reading the headings and figuring out where we were, but it was very well done and well written. I liked how you had Mikey as the controller in the situation, and not as the controlled. Unless it was the psychological sense of him being controlled by revenge, moving on...Your take on the scenario was the most creative and out of the box, very plot driven and well thought out, the writing was done wonderfully and flowed smoothly through out even with the time breaks. Altogether it shows you put time and effort into it.

Conditions:
(2 of 4)

One of Mikey's accomplices is severely wounded. He is told to leave any injured parties behind. Does he do as he is told, or is he willing to risk his own life for another?

This condition could be said to be met in the Thug wanting out. However for me at least that didn't seem a 'do as you're told or risk his life' situation, unless Feature was using that last sentence as an example, therefore this condition being met was questionable for me.

But since it wasn't clarified totally by Feature as to if the question in the condition is to factor into the way the condition(s) are met I'll consider the condition fufilled.

One of the customers in the bank at the time of the heist recognizes Mikey. They know eachother from somewhere. Mikey realizes that this person could incriminate him. How does he handle this problem?

This one was also 'iffy' for me as Feature said "They know each other." The black man knew of Sam Sullivan, but Mikey did not know the man. I'll count it as a condition filled, but it's still questionable for me. See above for the issue about clarification. :yay:

At some point during the heist, police surround the bank, effectively sealing all known exits. How do Mikey and his accomplices deal with this?
Not done.

Unbeknownst to the criminals, one of the customers in the bank at the time of the heist is a plainclothes cop. What, if anything, does he do to diffuse the situation? How does this relate to Mikey?

Not done.

Up next:

Mr. Mirko/Marko
(whatever :oldrazz: )

Preliminary
What really stood out to me in this one was the immense amount of well done characterization. You managed to create tension in the scenario that for me no one else did by making you care about both sides of the story though Mikey and Mick. I also liked the role reversal of Mikey and Kaci. In most of the ones written it often had Mikey doing it because of his somewhat weaker girlfriend. This time Kaci was the stronger one, pulling Mikey along with her. The plot was up front and straight forward, and the ending sold me on it, because I love happy endings, I also liked how tied up it was. Bad guy got judgement, good guy got to live and be with his very sexy wife. You portrayed Mikey so well, I wanted to be his girlfriend and lead him gently to the way of righteousness. You captured his turmoil perfectly and played it for all to see.
However your writing was a bit weak in some parts and seemed a bit rushed. The actions sequences seemed awkward and there were a little to many *'s were used for my taste. The suspense of disbelief was in there with the cell phone jammer, but then I know little of robbing banks, perhaps they are used more often than I know... :cwink:

Ah, technicalities. Technically a plainclothes cop is someone on the job, Mick in this case was basically an innocent bystander that happened to be a police officer and took charge of the situation. But I'll give it to ya :cwink:

SO! Without further ado.....

Mr. Mirko - 2
I settled on you because I am so going to be the female, chick-flick judge tonight. I liked the finality, the happy ending and the character appealed so much to me as a person. You also were the only poster to not make the girlfriend a weak character, which really set the tone for your entire write-up.

Sadly that means....

SSF - 1
I opted to give you second because ultimately I liked the characterization and feelings that went into Mirko's. Your plot, writing and story were well executed, but I never 'felt' the character come through.

But there is good news...

Ya'll will continue to get better and make it harder for me to chose.

Everyone is asked to keep in mind that Team Six has a vacant spot in their roster. I am almost tempted to find that animated GIF of Willy Wonka. :(

This week are finals for me, so maybe after next I will become involved. That's partially one of the reasons I left out when I said to take me off the reserve list.

Oh no you don't, nobody outcrazies Ofelia.

I'm not one for correcting spelling, but having a semi-complicated name to spell (Francoise), I feel for her.

Ophelia. lol

No hard feelings. n.n But names are personal.

Some people do spell it with an "f" though. I've seen both. Perhaps hers was with "ph" in the play, but whatever.

lol My handle is fine, but my first given name (Francoise) has literally a one letter difference between it's male and female forms, and most people who try to spell it ALWAYS forget it (especially if not from where I hail), and they tend to horribly mispell it anyway.

Well you've obviously never tried to spell wieg's username before. It took me like 274324398279 times to spell it as wiegeabo. :woot:

Not that it's totally related, but it took me weeks to understand "trusty" when I first heard it, since I figured it was some akward meaning for "trust", like to a group or something.

Nope, nothing complex. My brother got involved with these forums before me, and when I saw him on it often eventually I got interested enough through the BB movie forums and I got stuck deciding on a name. I chose the side-kick part because this is a site about superheroes and I put trusty in front as an adjective.

lol It was complicated to someone who was only learning English. XD

I picked my name, because when I was remaking this name (as I forgot the password to an old name) I was sporting this white leather dress with a back lace up and all this, and someone said I looked like a sexual Mistress, so I went with that, because "Gluon" just sounded funny on it's own.

Gluon comes from my physics background. o.o

They're incredible. I saw them last december and it was the best concert I'm going to see. It was the perfect blend of everything coming together. The show was in hawaii for the last leg of the vertigo tour. Originally, it was scheduled to be in Tokyo, but the edge's daughter got cancer, so they had to take a break of about 8 months in the middle of the tour, and, instead of Tokyo, they scheduled the last date to be in honolulu.

Worth every penny.
