Take control of your own destiny and join us in JUNE! NOT MARCH. That really sucks culo.

Universal Pictures has moved the release date of its hotly anticipated fantasy-action-thriller "Wanted" (http://www.latinoreview.com/films/wanted-619) from spring to summer. The film will now be released on Friday, June 27, rather than its former release date of March 28.

The film stars James McAvoy (Atonement), Morgan Freeman (The Bucket List), Common (American Gangster) and Angelina Jolie (Mr. & Mrs. Smith) as members of a secret society that carries out the orders of fate itself. It is the first English-language film directed by Russian visual pioneer Timur Bekmambetov, creator of the Night Watch series—the most successful film franchise in his country’s history. Based upon Mark Millar’s explosive graphic novel series, the film is produced by Marc Platt (Legally Blonde), Jason Netter (Painkiller Jane), Jim Lemley (Invincible) and Iain Smith (Children of Men).

In making the date-change announcement, Nikki Rocco, Universal Pictures’ President of Distribution, stated, “After an early look at Wanted, we are certain that it fulfills its promise as a stunning, committed, thrilling, eye-popping vision that introduces a bold new narrative. We believe it can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the event titles of the summer and will give audiences a chance to discover a fresh new alternative. We are excited to date the film on June 27.”

Wanted (http://www.latinoreview.com/films/wanted-619) tells the tale of one apathetic nobody’s transformation into an unparalleled enforcer of justice. In 2008, the world will be introduced to a hero (http://www.latinoreview.com/news/wait-3-more-months-for-wanted-3446#) for a new generation: Wesley Gibson.

25-year-old Wes (James McAvoy) was the most disaffected, cube-dwelling drone the planet had ever known. His boss chewed him out hourly, his girlfriend ignored him routinely and his life plodded on interminably. Everyone was certain this disengaged slacker would amount to nothing. There was little else for Wes to do but wile away the days and die in his slow, clock-punching rut.

Until he met a woman named Fox (Angelina Jolie).

After his estranged father is murdered, the deadly sexy Fox recruits Wes into the Fraternity, a secret society that trains Wes to avenge his dad’s death by unlocking his dormant powers. As she teaches him how to develop lightning-quick reflexes and phenomenal agility, Wes discovers this team lives by an ancient, unbreakable code: carry out the death orders given by fate itself.

With wickedly brilliant tutors—including the Fraternity’s enigmatic leader, Sloan (Morgan Freeman)—Wes grows to enjoy all the strength he ever wanted. But, slowly, he begins to realize there is more to his dangerous associates than meets the eye. And as he wavers between newfound heroism and vengeance, Wes will come to learn what no one could ever teach him: he alone controls his destiny.

And the decent of Tom Cruise continues. Movies aren't afraid to move and take him head on. Valkyrie opens the same day. It looks like the loon Cruise has taken Bryan Singer down with him. After the dud known as Superman Returns, Bryan really didn't need this headache.

The article on the front page says that March 28 was too crowed well June 27 is just as crowded. Possibly even worse. We got this, Valkyrie, and Wall-E.

TC last movie lions for lambs didn't do well the same thing could happen with Valkyrie, and Wall-e even though is a pixar film is rumored to have very few words in it. Wanted just might win for being a mindless action flick.

Its Iron man and Hulk coming out in March. Maybe the better comic book movies scared it away?

It still sounds dangerous to me. Not to mention the next massive movie lurking the next week. I think Will Smith's superhero movie "Hancock" comes out the following weekend, Hellboy 2 after that, and The Dark Knight after that. There are going to be alot of superhero/comic book movies this summer. I'll watch them but I hope people don't start to become allergic to them because of overkill.

Cruise' movie Valkyrie shouldn't even be in a summer spot, it's better suited to November. I think the type of movie it is dictates that YJ1, nothing to do with Cruise. As for Wall E, you can never discount Pixar but obviously Wanted has impressed the studio.

So....WINO is moving to summer? Good....it can get lost amidst the blockbusters and whither away.

Wanted will not be a headache for either Valkyrie or Wall-E. Valkyrie is a war epic and Wall-E a Pixar film (and a damn good-looking one, too). Wanted is a film that the vast majority of the audience will have no clue about--probably even after they've seen the trailers. Not a good sign for this film.

Right on.

And the fact that 75% of movie goers will look at it and think "Another Matrix" doesn't help, either.

Whatever the reason, Valkyrie just got bullied back to October. It's worth noting that once any Cruise vehicle used to stake out a date, everyone would steer clear. Now, he's damaged goods and everyone knows it. Good for Wanted.

My thoughts exactly. They are REALLY trying to sell this to every crowd out there. It would be so delightful if it were to bomb!:oldrazz:
