I'll still hold off for more opinions - specifically those of the other two GM's since they, ultimately, will decide.

I'd rather it be done in UDC... but I think it could work just as well, here. I'm for it. It's far less of a departure than Dick Grayson skipping the Robin role.

"Gotham City Noir" RPG Application

Screenname: Eddie Brock Jr.

Gothamite you would like to portray: Jason Todd, the Red Hood

Class of society: (Choose one) Tough to say...he's part Guardian and part Rule Breaker - albeit more of the latter, I suppose.

Resume: (Brief character biography) Jason Todd is an orphan who has lived on the streets for most of his life. As such, he is just another witness to the devastating effects of Gotham's corruption. Now that he is coming of age, he has decided to take active part in fighting crime - in his own special way. Jason has learned that Gotham is a world of kill or be killed - or so he believes. He has no qualms about killing when he deems it necessary.

Factoids of interest: (Special attributes - IE: Weapons, attire... anything needed to be known) Jason wears a red mask over his face - hence the vigilante codename. He has taught himself how to use a variety of weapons - from firearms to knives.

Known associates: (NPC's needed to be attached to your character) None. Jason is a loner.

Three integral reasons behind choosing the character:
1. Jason is Batman - only a step further. He believes in lethal force, and his methods are not so...refined.
2. Perhaps some day Batman could try to reform Jason. He wouldn't succeed, of course, but it would be a chance to have Jason be a 'Robin' of sorts.
3. Like The Joker, Jason is an unrestrained killer. Unlike The Joker, Jason's kills have motive - and they work to 'enforce' the law.

Please provide a brief explaination behind your character's motivations (ex: What does he/she believe in? How does he/she connect with Gotham City? What grinds your character's gears?): Jason is rough around the edges after so many years of fending for himself. In his own twisted way, he feels responsible for protecting the people of Gotham - people who he does not trust or particularly like. Jason is unnecessarily aggressive and has tremendous difficulty relating to people.

File Headshot: (A picture if your character, if applicable)

Please provide a small sample post, in the format you plan to portray this identity, with three paragraphs at minimum:

"Let's see what you got," the first criminal orders. He gruffly grabs his associate's bag and spills its contents all over the street. It is a mixed collection of stolen objects - none really worth anything. "What the f**k is this s***?"

The second criminal shrugs. "It's a slow night," he responds sheepishly. His hands are buried in his pockets, and his entire posture radiates indifference.

The first criminal smacks his partner across the face. "Don't take that f**king tone with me," he barks. "You had one thing to do tonight, and you f**ked it up."

"Sorry," the second replies, his tone saturated with sarcasm.

The first one grabs him by the collar. "You better be f**king sorry. If I bring this s*** back to my boss, I'll get my f**king balls kicked in. We have f**king quotas to meet, you little s***," he reminds his associate sharply. He tosses the man to the ground while commanding, "You're going to f**king go back out there and get some good s***."

"No one's doing anything of the sort," I growl. I've been lurking in the shadows, watching the exchange silently.

The first criminal reaches for his gun. His partner is scurrying on the ground, asking, "Is that f**king Batman?!"

I scowl as I draw my knife. "Guess again."

God only knows the consequences of me picking up another character, but this is too good to pass up.

Screenname: Syn (Mercenary)

Gothamite you would like to portray: Garfield Lynns AKA Firefly

Class of society: (Choose one) Rule Breaker

Resume: (Brief character biography) Garfield was an orphan, along with his sister Amanda. They lived in an orphanage for most of their young life. Both children hated the parents coming to pick a child, because it only reminded them of the false hopes of a family. However, Garfield always took it much harder than Amanda, developing a hidden rage and anger within him.

Years later, when the two were eighteen, they went on and led seperate lives. Garfield went and pursued a life in visual effects, his mind always stuck on being a part of a fantasy he never had. He realized the dream by working on the sets of movies.

As his career as a visual effects artist progressed, Garfield suddenly found a peace he never had before. He found this peace in the soft embracing glow of the flames from the planned explosions on various sets. Watching the fires dance and flicker made him feel at peace, and gave him a conduit in which to channel his aggression. Garfield soon changed his occupation, and became a pyrotechnition on the sets of the films.

Garfield was happy for the first time in his life. He no longer had any stress, he worked in a nice enviroment, and his job was something that could help him relax. But as the years passed, Garfield soon found that his pyromaniniac obsession wanted more. The work on the sets didn't do it for him anymore, and Garfield soon began feeling the stress and anger of everyday life.

In an attempt to keep his obesssion, and continue his hobby, Garfield began starting small fires of his own. He started small, burning papers in metal containers or lighting small piles of leaves up. But once again, his obsession grew, and Garfield soon found himself fully delving into the world of a pyromaniac.

Now, Garfield still works on the sets of the movies and films as a pyrotechnition. But now, he has a dirty secret. A deadly secret. One that he intends on keeping hidden from everyone for now. He knows his obsession will want more soon, and Garfield is more than willing to give into it, and feed the fire burning within him.

Factoids of interest: (Special attributes - IE: Weapons, attire... anything needed to be known) Wears flame retardent suit and mask ; carries flamethrower gun attached to tanks of hydrogen or other flamable gases on his body.

Known associates: (NPC's needed to be attached to your character) Sister: Amanda (Kelso) Lynns

Three integral reasons behind choosing the character: 1. 2. 3.

1. I couldn't resist this character for this RPG.

2. Taking a pretty decent villian who hasn't gotten his chance in the limelight in my opinion, and putting him in real life.

3. Pyromania. :pal:

Please provide a brief explaination behind your character's motivations (ex: What does he/she believe in? How does he/she connect with Gotham City? What grinds your character's gears?):

Garfield loves to watch things burn. He enjoyes the smell, the taste, the sight, the warm feeling of the fire, even the sound tantalizes him. His pyromania obsession is deeply routed in him, and it has consumed his life to a point where it is all he has. The only things that aggravates him is anyone or anything that gets in the way of his obsession. And he'll do anything to stop them.

File Headshot: (A picture if your character, if applicable):
Can't find any at this time.

Please provide a small sample post, in the format you plan to portray this identity, with three paragraphs at minimum:

Coming Soon

I walk onto the set slowly, carrying my briefcase loosely in my hand. The others are looking at me with an aggravated look. The actors sit in their chairs with the scripts inches from their face. As I walk past them, I see them shooting me angry glances as the lower their scripts. I suppose they earned the right to be mad. I'm an hour late. But at least it wasn't a waste.

"Lynns!" The director yells as he storms out from behind the set.

"Yes?" I respond calmly, hoping my non chalant attitude calms him down.

"Where have you been? It's nine o' five! We were scheduled for eight AM! Eight!" I stop where I stand, and wait for him to approach me. He stops about a foot in front of me, and gets his face right into mine. Stupid old man. He knows nothing of fun.

"I was running a little late." I say with a smile, tucking the pack of matches deeper into my jacket pocket. "Won't happen again."

"Erm." He says with a sigh. He backs up, and walks toward his chair by the cameras. "It's fine, Garfield. I guess it was a simple accident. Didn't mean to burn you like that."

"It's quite alright." I say with a cocky smirk. "I'm used to being put into the fire." Ha. If only he knew.

"Alright, Gar. Just get your stuff set up and ready. We're filming in twenty minutes! And I won't wait anymore."

"You got it boss. I'll be ready as fast as I can." I walk over to the pyrotechnics squad, the group of men I work with almost everyday. They all sit by the explosives, sitting silently, a look of boredom on their faces. The selfish fools. If only they knew what they use can really do. The power it has. The beautiful show they preform. I hate working with these ingrates. But you can't pick your co-workers. I reach back into my pocket, and my fingers feel the pack of matches. My fingers open the lid, and I caress the smooth wooden picks. At least I can pick my friends.
Ahem. ;)

I'm thinking about dropping Bane. I would have done if it was not for the fact the character I want to pick up is frowned upon. But, I'll give it a shot anywhoo. Could I be Dick Grayson, but instead of Robin, have him Nightwing straight away? And if Byrd doesn't want a partner yet, I could just have him helping out Bats from time to time. What do you think?

All I found about you denying a character to EBJ was Robin, not Nightwing. May I ask why no Nightwing? Even when you've seen my skills at rewriting history enough to know that I can make him a lot darker?

Gothamite you would like to portray: Renee Montoya

Class of society: (Choose one) Law Enforcer

Resume: (Brief character biography) Renee Montoya grew up in Gotham with her parents. Her parents moved from the Dominican Republic, and came to America searching for a better life. A few months after their citizenship in the US, Renee’s mother was pregnant with her, and the couple knew they would soon be a family.

Years later, time’s got difficult for Renee’s family. At age five, her dad was struggling to keep a job and get enough money to provide for their family. They moved to Gotham City and bought a cheap apartment. There, her father worked at a large factory doing manually labor. Despite their bad luck, the Montoya’s continued to keep their eyes on God, and kept their religious beliefs.

As the years progressed, Renee watched the crime around her grow. She knew drug addicts, watched drug deals take place. She witnessed various thefts and robberies, and she even came across many a murder scenes. All the violence made a need grow inside of her. She felt that she wanted to help her fellow man, and punish those who would hurt them. She acted on this desire, and began working and training to be a police officer. She is now an officer of the Gotham City Police Department.

Factoids of interest: (Special attributes - IE: Weapons, attire... anything needed to be known): Renee Montoya is a lesbian. She has kept her sexual preference a secret since she discovered that she was one. Now she struggles as an adult to keep her life as a lesbian a secret from her life as a Police officer, fearing it would affect the way she is seen by her peers, and inhibiting her skills as a law enforcer. She is also afraid of what her parents would think or say.

Known associates: (NPC's needed to be attached to your character): Any of her future significant others whenever she gets one. ;) :)

Three integral reasons behind choosing the character: 1. 2. 3.

We need law enforcers here. Batman can’t do it all. (Or can he?)

Renee Montoya has always been an interesting character to me. A female officer often more competent than some of the males is pretty appealing.

Renee has a secret that she tries to keep secret. I hope to make her life a parallel to Batman’s, in that they both keep their other lives private. Please provide a brief explanation behind your character's motivations (ex: What does he/she believe in? How does he/she connect with Gotham City? What grinds your character's gears?): Renee is motivated by her desire to see the lawbreakers punished. She is tired of watching others get hurt because of the careless and insensitive actions of others. She also fights for equality and tolerance, whatever it may be about.

Renee Montoya walks through the Police Department, and toward the office of Police Commissioner James Gordon briskly, her jacket flowing behind her from the wind. As she makes her way to Gordon’s office, one of the police officers stops her. She grabs Renee’s arm tightly, and pulls back on her arm.

“Renee, what’s wrong?” She asks compassionately.

“Don’t get in my way right now, Sharon.” She responds coldly.

“Hey, don’t vent on me.” Sharon says in an aggravated tone. She looks into Renee’s eyes, and notices the strange tone in her voice. Sharon calms herself down, and releases Renee’s arm from her grip. “Something’s bothering you, Renee. I can just tell.” She begins patting her arm compassionately, a look of concern on her face. “Tell me what’s bothering you.”

“It’s…St. Alexander’s Church.” She says with a sigh.

“What about it?”

“That’s the church my parents and I always went to when I was growing up.” Renee sighs, and stares blankly at nothing, her mind going wild with her thoughts. “Some lunatic with a sick pyromania obsession burnt it to the ground. Three dead, eighteen injured.”

“My God.” Sharon says as she takes a deep breath. “I’m so sorry.”

“Don’t be sorry for me.” She says in a hostile tone, her hand balled in a fist. “Feel sorry for the guy who did it. ‘Cause when I find him, I’ll be sure that he pays.”

"Gotham City Noir" RPG Application

Screenname: Eddie Brock Jr.

Gothamite you would like to portray: Lieutenant Gordon

Class of society: (Choose one) Law Enforcer

Resume: (Brief character biography) Enrolling in the Gotham City Police Department nearly 20 years ago, Officer Jim Gordon was subjected to one of the city's most haneous crimes, when a little boy by the name of Bruce Wayne was brought in after watching his parents murdered infront of him. Trying to console the young man the best that he could, the incident left him scarred, seeing the hatred for criminals in the boy's eyes. Tranferring to Chicago, his hometown, Gordon and his wife resided there until Jim realized that most of that city's crime originated from Gotham. Transferring back to his old position, this time as Sargeant, it soon became evident that Gotham's police force had become maliciously corrupt. Without hope and without an ally, Gordon kept mum on this until finally, he was given the most unlikely of allies: A dark, and grim figure of the night to which Gothamites called The Batman. Seeing new hope in this vigilante, Gordon has maintained a secret allieance with him in order to rid the force, and the city, of it's evil.

Factoids of interest: (Special attributes - IE: Weapons, attire... anything needed to be known) As a police officer, Gordon carries a standard issue pistol.

Known associates: (NPC's needed to be attached to your character) His wife, Barbara Kean; his son, James Jr.; his daughter, Barbara

Three integral reasons behind choosing the character: 1. Gordon is the second most influential force for good in Gotham.
2. His Batman Begins counterpart is brilliant - which isn't saying much, because all of his incarnations are awesome.
3. I wanted to enforce the law with my second character. Gordon does that better than Jason Todd.

Please provide a brief explaination behind your character's motivations (ex: What does he/she believe in? How does he/she connect with Gotham City? What grinds your character's gears?): Gordon believes in Gotham City. He fights against corruption. His views often put him at odds with the dirty cops in the GCPD. He closely trusts Batman.

I arrive at the scene, and I must say that I'm not looking forward to it. The Joker has striked again, and he has slipped through our grasp. I'm determined to catch that psychopath - even if it means a little help from our resident vigilante.

"Oh dear God," I gasp aloud as I look at the carnage. I've seen a lot in this job, but The Joker's madness may top it all. The mutilated body lays in the corner, drenched in blood. A sick smile is carved into his cheeks.

"What was he looking for?" I ask a fellow officer.

"It looks like he was chasing someone."

"Gotham City Noir" RPG Application

Screenname: Master Bruce

Gothamite you would like to portray: Jason Todd, The Red Hood

Class of society: Rule Breaker

Resume: (Brief character biography) Abandoned on the streets as a boy, Jason Todd was left to fend for himself in the harsh slums of Gotham City. Witnessing firsthand how crime and corruption could tear people apart, Jason grew a harsh resentment towards the criminal element, seeing them as a force needed to be eliminated by any means nessecary. Eventually rescued off of the streets by only one of a few Gotham Police Officers who would care enough to do so, Jason was put into a shelter until he would eventually escape. During this, he ran into a mugger as he fled the crime scene, and murdered him. Taking the mugger's wallet and indentification, he tracked down the criminals home, and stole the money nessecary into buying his way into a rufitible application to enroll in the Gotham Police academy. But it wasn't enough. It wasn't a big enough lesson to teach to the criminal fraternity. He needed to become something more... their executioner, of sorts. Inspired by the rumored exploits of the Batman, once getting onto the force as a lesser ranked beat officer, Jason secretly stole from Gotham Central's confiscated weapons files, tracked down hundreds of unused firearms, and built up a big enough arsenal to create his own vigilante identity: The Red Hood.

Factoids of interest: (Special attributes - IE: Weapons, attire... anything needed to be known) Jason's costume includes a leather jacket lined with kevlar joints, a fireproof undergarb, steel-lined combat boots with hidden soles for weapons storage, and his hood is uplinked to the Gotham PD Police Band. All of Jason's weapons, such as razors, guns, missiles, and vehicles, are from once reigning mobsters brought down by either the force, or The Batman, in an ironic twist of fate. His dagger is the only weapon originating from his past, as he used it to kill the mugger that he eventually went onto take his life over.

Known associates: (NPC's needed to be attached to your character) Gotham beat cops, Helena Bertinelli (someone he recently met on one of his first cases), and various Gotham mobsters.

Three integral reasons behind choosing the character:

1. I see this particular version of Jason, aswell as the current version in the comics, to be exactly what Batman would be, if he hadn't been brought up with a certain moral ambiguity.
2. I wanted to play him in Ultimate DC for the longest time, but I already have two (and technically three, now) characters tied to the Bat-mythos. It'd be a waste to focus entirely on that side of the RPG, there, so I'm going to leave it to someone else.
3. I think while his intentions, and more notably his actions, are less than noble, Jason walks a thin line between good and evil. And to date, I don't think I've ever played anyone like that. It could be a fun challenge.

Please provide a brief explaination behind your character's motivations (ex: What does he/she believe in? How does he/she connect with Gotham City? What grinds your character's gears?): I think that's been explained, but essentially, Jason is a borderline psychotic. His time on the streets and his hatred for criminals have fashioned him into a merciless warrior, and he's willing to do what he feels is nessecary to eliminate the criminal element in Gotham. If that calls for a few casualties, in Todd's mind, so be it.

Please provide a small sample post, in the format you plan to portray this identity, with three paragraphs at minimum:

There was a certain charm to it. A certain, immistakeable thrill and rush of adreneline that came out of even the simplest blow, and the easiest kill. It was as if with each and every piece of scum that fell to his feet, and with every breath of their wasted lives sacrificed, he breathed new again. A rebirth, of sorts, from a man who had been left with nothing... but had gained almost everything he could ever want. And this? Well, this was one of life's greatest gifts that he had earned for himself.

The kill.

His arm flung forward, as his finger rested upon the knife's jagged blade. He was in the middle of random gunfire, having interrupted a smuggling operation that had just began for the evening. The perps had hoped to duck under the cover of the night's fog over the docks, and get the various crates of heroin, meth, and cocaine down to the Narrows before sunrise. This was all information he had collected from the beginning, as he had heard from an interrogated informant.

That was what bothered him the most, before he had taken to this life. The irony of being able to protect and serve, but never to cross 'that line' without probable cause. When the reality was, probable cause rested a living, breathing example: Gotham City. It was being bled dry by corruption, murderers, and every piece of filth the world had to offer, all assembled in one place. Right in one area. All ripe for the picking.

So it was that, of course, that made slicing his knife's blade through the first one's throat all the more enjoyable. He lived for this. This was what he wanted to do with the rest of his life. And no one... nothing would stop him. Batman? That guy was an amatuer compared to what he'd make himself to be. Criminals would soon fear another name. A name of which would echo all across this desolate wastleland, when he finally put a bullet through the last one's skull. That name?

"Red Hood."

It was as if with each and every piece of scum that fell to his feet, and with every breath of their wasted lives sacrificed, he breathed new again. An amendment to the five families:
FBI FILES - THE FIVE FAMILIES OF GOTHAM CITY

- The Falcone family
Currently in disarray, the Falcone family was originally headed up by Carmine "The Roman" Falcone. It seems that the vigilante Batman has a personal vendetta against this family, having worked hard to break up the organisation, even before the death of Carmine. Alberto Falcone, the Roman's son, recently returned. What role he will play is uncertain.

- The Maroni family
Succeeding his father Luigi "Big Lou" Maroni, Salvatore Maroni runs a tight ship. With the Falcone family out of the works for a while and the Zucco family just up and running, Maroni is undoubtedly the most powerful mob boss in Gotham. The other families are just too minor to resist. Maybe we could guide the Bat to Maroni. Sal seems to like the high life.

-> Off-shoot: The Zucco crew
Headed up by Tony Zucco, currently spending time in jail on a weapons charge. Expected to be out in a few months. Originally a member of Maroni's family but was able to convince a few members of the broken Falcone family to join his side. His right-hand man Edward Skeevers runs things in Zucco's place. The anomisity between Maroni and Zucco has simmered to a truce, but one that could break at any time.

- The Bertinelli family
Influential family, but without a lot of resources. The head of the family, Guido Bertinelli is showing some striking resemblances to Tony Soprano. Talks a big game, and is very personal about his honour. We've got multiple tabs on them. If we ever plan to take him down, we'll need some leverage to convince some of Guido's family to flip. He has a daughter, Helena Rosa Bertinelli, who might be useful in that capacity. The family has close ties to the Inzerillo's.

- The Inzerillo family
The family with the least public exposure. Jack Inzerillo has made sure that his family stays out of the limelight, thereby avoiding the GCPD and Gotham's vigilantes. Sources in both the GCPD and the criminal circuit say there's a Detective with ties to the family: Detective Sergeant Vincent Del Arrazio. He's a cousin to Jack. He could be useful; he's worked with us before.

- The Moxon family
This family's business has been slow for a while now, but the return of Lew Moxon, the boss, chances are that is about to change. Rumours are abound about the potential succesor to the aging mob boss. Moxon has relatively legit ambitions, having a failed career in politics and spending some time amongst the rich and famous of Gotham before going into exile.

If you ask me, I think she should come back and get Deathstroke out of this murderous rut he's been in. I think he's been out of character for sometime. In the series he had, I found that he was more than a ruthless killer. He had a soul, and I got the feeling maybe he'd become a "walking the line" type of guy. "Gotham City Noir" RPG Application

Screenname: Cyrusbales

Gothamite you would like to portray: Pamela Isley

Class of society: (Choose one) Rule Breaker*

Resume: (Brief character biography) A selfish woman, who’s personality seeks after it’s own goals, as the expense of everyone else around her. She is very much a loner, BUT uses many people through her skills of seduction and physical attributes. She is nicknamed ‘Poison Ivy’, because it’s said that any man who gets involved with her is as good as dead and will wind up nothing more than cold dead decoration for the morgue.

Factoids of interest: (Special attributes - IE: Weapons, attire... anything needed to be known) Ridiculously sexy, *she has not been linked directly to any crime, and as such, she is not a wanted criminal, yet her involvement in many criminal acts seems apparent, yet how and why is far beyond the grasp of many. She has an excellent knowledge of poison’s and their application, although this is hardly ever put to use, if ever.

Known associates: (NPC's needed to be attached to your character) As they become needed, they will be properly introduced via the IC thread, however, her story is often told from a first person perspective of a character who appears to be retelling poison ivy’s story from a future perspective, see sample for reference.

Three integral reasons behind choosing the character:
1. She is the most suited character to a Noir RPG
2. She is an often underrated and poorly used character, who’s potential is amazing
3. I’ve always wanted to be a woman? No wait, I mean……L

Please provide a brief explaination behind your character's motivations (ex: What does he/she believe in? How does he/she connect with Gotham City? What grinds your character's gears?): Gotham city is an industrial city, that involves the top of society owning most of the city’s assets and money. Pamela wants to obtain this level of money and status to use for ends which are as of yet undetermined, due to her unwillingness to confide or even consult others, her true ambitions remain unknown.

File Headshot: (A picture if your character, if applicable)

Please provide a small sample post, in the format you plan to portray this identity, with three paragraphs at minimum:

It always starts with a dame, and what a dame. They used to call her ‘Poison’, I never did figure that out until now, ‘till all the pieces finally came together. I guess the whole thing started at the beginning of the new year, my office has just opened for business and she was the first person who walked in, and as soon as I saw her, I didn’t’ care if she was the last person to walk through those doors.

She was dressed in a dark green dress that somehow managed to shimmer in the dim light of the smoky room. Her legs were smooth and seemed to reach up from the floor all the way to heaven, full red locks swayed past her shoulders and down her back with every step she took towards my desk. Leaning in, emerald eyes captured my gaze as my mouth went dry just at the sight of her beauty.

“I need a man. For a job.”

For a job.”

I would’ve answered straight away but something was stopping me, her voice was so luscious and velvety that it’s sound almost caressed my ears. And the scent, it was how you’d imagine angels to smell, a little like sweet honeysuckle.

How could I have known that murder could sometimes smell like honeysuckle?

To repost, since it hasn't been edited in, the amendment to the Five Families:

-> Off-shoot: The Zucco crew

"Gotham City Noir" RPG Application

Screenname: raindog13

Gothamite you would like to portray: Jonathan Crane/ The Scarecrow

Class of society: (Choose one) Rule Breaker

Resume: Jonathan Crane is mentally deranged psychiatrist that specializes in psychopharmacology. Crane used his patients as guinea pigs, exposing them to a hallucinogenic drug known as the "fear toxin." This drug causes the victim to see his or her worst fears come to life and is capable of inducing panic attacks and quite literally scaring them to death. Crane takes a perverse delight in seeing others in this horrified state. After Ra’s al Ghul’s plot to unleash the toxin onto the entire city was foiled by Batman, Crane went into hiding in the Narrows.

Factoids of interest: (Special attributes - IE: Weapons, attire... anything needed to be known)
There are several dispensers of this fear gas hidden on his person. His scarecrow mask also doubles as a gas mask to avoid exposure to his own toxin. Although the toxin is his primary weapon of choice, he occasionally wields sickles and scythes both to use as melee weapons and to enhance his appearance when one is exposed to the drug.

Known associates: (NPC's needed to be attached to your character) None, other than the occasional hired goons.

Three integral reasons behind choosing the character:
1. He’s one of my favorite Batman villains
2. I liked his portrayal in BB
3. I was going for either him or the Mad Hatter. I decided to with Scarecrow (being the cooler of the two) for now and hopefully pick up Hatter as a 2nd character later on.

Please provide a brief explaination behind your character's motivations (ex: What does he/she believe in? How does he/she connect with Gotham City? What grinds your character's gears?): Crane has an obsession with fear. He exposes people to the fear toxin both because he sees it as a form of research and because he takes great pleasure in the anguish of others. He aspires to send the entire city into massive panic, much like he tried to do with Ra’s al Ghul.

Please provide a small sample post, in the format you plan to portray this identity, with three paragraphs at minimum:
The Narrows. Home of Gotham’s worst. One of its newest residents was a Dr. Jonathan Crane. After a humiliating defeat at the hands (or rather the taser) of Rachel Dawes, Crane had retreated into these slums to avoid apprehension by the police...or the Batman. And now, he has become just another one of "Gotham’s Most Wanted."
Crane sat in the dimly lit abandoned warehouse in Gotham’s east end. This is where he spent his days and nights now. Alone, in the dark, in some grimy, roach-infested warehouse. And how did he spend his days and nights? Preparing. After getting so close last time, Crane was now determined to do what he’s dreamt of doing for so long. He would spread panic and horror throughout Gotham and watch the city tear itself apart. And now he toiled day and night making more and more batches of his precious fear toxin.
Crane poured some chemicals into a beaker. This was his newest batch. Much more potent than previous samples. He began stirring the liquid with a glass rod.
"The cock doth crow, to let you know, if you be wise..." he sang to himself in a hushed voice. He turned his attention to a homeless man lying on the ground nearby. Crane found in incapacitated on the streets earlier and brought him into the warehouse. He poured the chemicals in the beaker into a special dispenser that would release the liquid as a gas. He pulled his burlap mask over his face and approached the man.
"...’Tis time to rise!" he shouted. The man began to stir. As he slowly rose, Crane blasted him in the face with a dose of the fear toxin. The vagrant looked baffled but his look of confusion slowly turned into a look of sheer horror. Crane grinned underneath his mask.

Gothamite you would like to portray: Waylon Jones AKA Killer Croc

Class of society: (Choose one) Rule Breaker

Resume: (Brief character biography) Waylon Jones was a young boy growing up in the Narrows of Gotham. He soon developed a condition that turned his body more and more like a reptile. His parents soon discovered it was exposure to dangerous chemicals in their home and food which caused his condition. Waylon was mocked and made fun of in school as his condition worsened.

Waylon ran away from home at age 17, not being able to take the harassment anymore. By this point, his condition was almost at its peak, and Waylon looked like a true human mutation. Waylon found solice in the sewers. There he was not the loser, the freak, the outcast. He was the top of the food chain. As the years past, Waylon's time alone gave him time to think about all that had been done to him. He soon rationailized that he was different, and this difference about him should be used for him, not against. He has recently chosen to use his powers for personal gain, to terrorize humanity, and do whatever he pleases where ever he pleases.

Factoids of interest: (Special attributes - IE: Weapons, attire... anything needed to be known) Enhanced strength, senses, agility, reflexes, durability and stamina. He has large claws and sharp teeth. He seems to possess a healing factor, crocodile like tendencies, scales, and power.

Known associates: (NPC's needed to be attached to your character) None.

Three integral reasons behind choosing the character:

1. Killer Croc is an interesting character. He's conflicted with his intelect and instinct.

2. Some variations show him as a ruthless intelligent man, others show him as a crazy monstser. I hope to put him at a level that is believable and permanent.

The sewers of Gotham. A place more feared to tread than the streets above. Many rumors come about from the odd occurances in the earth beneath the city. Some say ghosts haunt the endless pipes, the souls of those long killed. Others say the rats in the sewers have become so aggressive, they would eat you alive upon entrance. But the most believed and popular reason is that monsters live there. Monsters of all kind that are hideous, ghastly, and ruthless.

The streets of Gotham are silent in this section of the city. The steam billows up from the ground as the sky suddenly opens up above. Within moments, the buildings below are barraded with heavy drops of water. The rain falls so thicky that fish could walk on the land.

A manwhole begins to stir, the metal covering coming up and dropping back down. After a few moments, the metal covering moves up, and is pushed over onto the water filled street. The metal scraping against the hard ground makes a loud noise, scaring the rats of the streets into hiding. A strange figure emerges from the manwhole, coming up from the ground and onto the surface. It wears tattered and stained clothes, barely enough to cover its figure.

The strange creature looks up at the sky, staring blankly and quietly. The rain falls on its face, and the drops fall down its cold scaly skin. Suddenly, the creature hears a noise, and quickly turns around. It sees a small boy standing on the otherside of the street, staring at him in fear. The creatures orange eyes glow in the darkness as it stares back. The small boy shivers in fear, his mind telling him to run, but his body paralyzed in fear.

"Who are you...m-mister?" The boy calls out, attempting to do something other than stand. The creature continues to stare back, its eyes failing to blink. The boy continues to shake, panic welling up inside him. Tears begin to slowly fall down his face as he thinks about his parents, and how he wishes he could run back inside to them.

"M-mister?" He calls out again. Suddenly, the creature moves, and begins to walk toward the alley. Just before it dissapears into the dark back path, it turns back to the boy.

"Get...inside kid." It says with a hiss. "Monsters roam these streets."

I... really can't accept this, as it is.

Truthfully, I really liked your application and particularly your sample, but you've got it down to the point that he has enhanced strength, senses, and the like, whereas a simple skin condition could've been passed. And we just had this talk with Byrd, with the whole no-powers realism route. (A talk of which he weaseled out of by calling my mother a protestant whore.)

Sorry, man, but Croc's powers can't be used here.

Ok, I completely understand that I am being the biggest pain in the ass about this. I think this one is final, so I am dropping Firefly and picking up someone else in return.

Screenname: Syn (Mercenary)

Factoids of interest: (Special attributes - IE: Weapons, attire... anything needed to be known) Waylon has a strange skin condition, giving him the appearance of scales and discolored skin. The condition has also turned his pupils red, distorting his face and features.

After he went into seclusion, he began physically training himself, aspiring to improve his physical power. Due to the condition, Waylon's nails have thickened and grown to a point where they are like sharp talons. The disease has also caused his body to increase in it's size, making him larger than an average human being, and truly turning him into a "freak."

3. Being one of Batman's more aggressive foes should prove fun.

Please provide a brief explaination behind your character's motivations (ex: What does he/she believe in? How does he/she connect with Gotham City? What grinds your character's gears?):
Waylon wants to be left alone to do what he pleases. At times, he sees his condition as a gift, but more than not, he sees himself as a monster, and desperately wants to return to normal.

Please provide a small sample post, in the format you plan to portray this identity, with three paragraphs at minimum:

Yeah, I got to say thanks for not approving me the first time. "Depowering" croc, so to speak, makes the character much more interesting and challenging to play. With an unknown disease only causing him to become hideous, instead of giving him powers, there can be more to him. I will definently use this to the character's benefit.

Posting this for the the third time, hoping MB will finally see it:

-> Off-shoot: The Zucco crew

I just got The Batman Series I, and I was watching the episode "The Man who would be Bat" and came up with an awesome origin that would fit Nolan's "No Powers or magical serums" rule for Man-Bat. So hear me out:
"Gotham City Noir" RPG Application

Screenname: Climperoonie

Gothamite you would like to portray: Dr. Kirk Langstrom, AKA Man Bat.

Class of society:Rule Breaker

Resume: Kirk Langstrom was a worker at Wayne Industries who studied Bats. He was fascinated with the Batman, but thought his idea of using fear for good was wrong. So he decided he would show Batman how a rule bat works. He built a suit that looks like a monstrous bat, with a Jet-Pack built into the suit's back. On his first night out as the Man Bat, his Jet-Pack fail, making the interior of the costume heat and meld with Langstrom's body. Langstrom managed to rapair the pack, but was trapped as the Man-Bat.

Factoids of interest: Man-Bat has a costume that looks like a giant humaniod bat-thing. He can flie due to his suit, but if his pack is damaged, he can use the hand-glider style wings attached to his arms to float to safety. His costume is also permanately attached to his body.

Known associates: None

Three integral reasons behind choosing the character:
1. I need a new character because I need to be in this pwnage RPG.
2. I thought this would be a suitable way to portray Man-Bat in the Nolan-verse
3. Batman will have a sort of evil twin if this gets approved.

Please provide a brief explaination behind your character's motivations: Batman is using his fear in the wrong way, according to Langstrom, so he wants to show Batman how it's done.

Please provide a small sample post, in the format you plan to portray this identity, with three paragraphs at minimum:
"Well, well, well, Batman certainly has been busy over these few months." I say as I look through my newspaper clippings of the Bat. He's so fascinating. What sort of a man would dress as a Bat? I knew it was the same kind as me. And I'll prove that to Gotham soon. I sit in my small lab at Wayne Industries. I tinker with my pride and joy, well, the torso of it, anyway. I'm developing a costume to show Bats how you're meant to use fear. You're not meant to use it for good, fear is a bad emotion, to be used for bad things. Not arresting criminals. I finish it, and place it down with the rest of the suit. I fit it onto a chair, and then connect the legs to it. I place the arms on, too. I then pull torn pants over the legs, for added effect.

"Time to test you out, my little beauty." I smile, admiring my handiwork. I should have been an inventor. I check the arms and legs are properly connected before stepping into the suit through a hatch in the back. I get my fingers and feet into the suit properly, then close the hatch. I walk over to a table, where the mask for the suit sits. Freaky little bastard. I pick it up and pull it over my head, making sure to lock that onto the rest of the suit. I smash the window and then leap onto the ledge. I built in a device so I just need to thrust my arms back while in mid-air for the Jet-pack in my suit to activate, and then it will atomaticly turn off when my feet touch the ground. An interactive suit. Told you I should have been an inventor.

I leap off of the ledge, and thrust my arms back. My pack activates. I fly along, and land on a building top. But it doesn't turn off. Instead, it just heats up and heats up and heats up. I feel the plastic melding with my skin. It's so hot. I try to remove my helmet. I can't. I'm stuck. I'm stuck as this bat-thing. I'm stuck as this Man-Bat.

I don't know how I can bring myself to post as Mistah J right now. The inspiration behind it was robbed of his youth. :csad:

Try.

That sounds a little cold, I know, but the Joker is ultimately more than the actors who've portrayed him. And I know this is basically hell for the Joker players, but try to move on from it.

What about the poor person who was crushed during the production?

What I'd suggest for EBJ is to re-read The Killing Joke, Arkham Asylum, Long Halloween, and other comics featuring the character to a large degree, to get a feel of the character that inspired Ledger's performance, rather than letting the performance itself be the sole inspiration. Honor the memory of Ledger by taking in a character he clearly understood, enjoyed, and found fascinating.

Oh, I doubt that it will affect my ability to perform - what I said yesterday was a comment made in a moment of shock and grief. However, I feel weird because I want to honor him (officially) IC, but The Joker isn't the type of character who lends himself to such a thing. It would be strange to add at the bottom of a Joker post:

DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF HEATH LEDGER.

In any case, I will move on - and I will continue to draw upon what we've seen (and what we still have left to see) of Heath's performance. His interpretation will live on - if only with me.
