View Full Version : 2007 Hype! Sports Awards - Voting done by PM
Hello, my fellow sports fanatics!
Welcome to the 2007 Hype! Sports Awards Extravaganza!
In this thread I will name certain categories that you can send me votes for via PM. We're voting for the funniest, dumbest, etc. events and posters that participate regularly in the SHH! Sports threads (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and NCAA Football/Basketball).
But I do need someone's help: I am looking for a person good with Photoshop, so someone can make basic but funny trophies for the awards.
Here are the categories: Votes are due to me by December 21.
1. Best Overall Sports Poster
2. Funniest Sports Poster
3. Most Intelligent Sports Poster
4. Dumbest Sports Poster
5. Sports Newbie of the Year
6. Funniest Sports Thread
7. Dumbest Sports Thread
8. Best Sports Team of 2007
9. Worst Sports Team of 2007
10. Most Improved Sports Poster
11. Hype! Sports Lifetime Achievement (vote for someone who's been around a long time, that's contributed a ton to the sports threads)
12. Most Hated Sports Team of 2007
13. Most Loved Sports Team of 2007
In this thread, you can discuss certain awards, but just don't give out your own ballot and winners.
Pittsburgh Pirates are the worst sports team of 2007. Hell, they are the worst sports team of the past two decades. Vote them or die :cmad:

Why do I get the feeling people will vote Yankees as Worst Sports Team because they are the Yankees. It should be like the Cubs for a 99 year drought or like Tampa Bay for having the most loses last year.

I don't think either of those teams should be voted as worst team of 07'. If I understand it correctly, it is for the team that has done the worst this year, not overall. Like the Dolphins.

Anyone who is a rational thinking human being can see that the whole "spygate" incident has had no effect on how good the team is playing. It doesn't help the offensive line be as good as they are, it doesn't help Moss catch a football in between his elbow and the side of his chest in between two defenders, etc, etc, etc.

Same with me for the Colts. Even though they are huge rival of the Patriots I love to watch them play. They are exciting. Same goes for the Rams in the late 90's early 2000's. Nothing wrong with appreciating an exciting team.
The Yankees are the biggest and oldest rival of the Boston Red Sox, however I can't help but appreciate them. Jeter a phenomenal baseball player and Rivera is the best closer I have ever seen play.

No, I don't see anything wrong with appreciating an exciting team that makes watching them play such a fun thing to do. Sometimes it gets on my nerves when I show appreciation for a team that's playing well and I am immediately labeled "a bandwagoner".

I played soccer for years as a kid. My dad is from Greece right off the boat. He played soccer until his mid 50's and coached my teams up until high school. We enjoy watching his club team play as well as watching MLS together. We basically watch whatever soccer might be on, whether it be English Premier or Women's NCAA. That being said, the soccer threads on The Hype are pretty lame for the most part.

What's your Dad's club? In the Greek league? I don't think I've ever seen any Greek teams play unless it's their national team playing in the WC or Euro tournament. I believe they were Euro 2004 tournament. But then again, I am getting old and going senile... my memory isn't as sharp as it was 10 years ago... :(
