Eli Manning, with his 'comical leadership skills', was just named Super Bowl MVP.

That coach who 'took all the fun out of football' for you, just helmed a team to a championship.

Piss off, Twin Boy.

Oh, Jesus Christ of Nazareth...
It had been so enjoyable without him. :(

It's going to be horrible hearing Giants fan till next year, still good job.
It can't be any worse than hearing most of the Patriots fans and hangers-on up to this point.

Patriots nearly perfect, but the Giants are Super Bowl champions

Associated Press

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Giants had the perfect answer for the suddenly imperfect Patriots: a big, bad defense and an improbable comeback led by their own Mr. Cool quarterback, Eli Manning (http://www.nfl.com/players/elimanning/profile?id=MAN473170).
In one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl history, New York shattered New England's unbeaten season 17-14 Sunday night as Manning hit Plaxico Burress (http://www.nfl.com/players/plaxicoburress/profile?id=BUR595691) on a 13-yard fade with 35 seconds left. It was the Giants' 11th straight victory on the road and the first time the Patriots tasted defeat in more than a year.
http://static.nfl.com/static/content/catch_all/nfl_image/e_manning_4_080203_IA.jpgElsa / Getty ImagesEli Manning celebrates after the Giants clinch a 17-14 win over the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII.
It was the most bitter of losses, too, because New England (18-1) was one play from winning and getting the ultimate revenge for being penalized for illegally taping opponents' defensive signals in the season-opener against the New York Jets (http://www.nfl.com/teams/newyorkjets/profile?team=NYJ).
But its defense couldn't stop a final, frantic 12-play, 83-yard drive that featured a spectacular leaping catch by David Tyree (http://www.nfl.com/players/davidtyree/profile?id=TYR159366), who had scored New York's first touchdown on the opening drive of the fourth quarter.
"It's the greatest feeling in professional sports," Burress said before bursting into tears.
The Patriots were done in not so much by the pressure of the first unbeaten season in 35 years as by the pressure of a smothering Giants pass rush. Tom Brady (http://www.nfl.com/players/tombrady/profile?id=BRA371156), the league's Most Valuable Player and winner of his first three Super Bowl, was sacked five times, hurried a dozen more and at one point wound up on his knees, his hands on his hips following one of many poor throws.
Hardly a familiar position for the record-setting quarterback. And a totally strange outcome for a team that seemed destined for historic glory.
Oddly, it was a loss to the Patriots that sparked New York's stunning run to its third Super Bowl and sixth NFL title. New England won 38-35 in Week 17 as the Patriots became the first team since the 1972 Miami Dolphins (http://www.nfl.com/teams/miamidolphins/profile?team=MIA) to go spotless through the regular season. But by playing hard in a meaningless game for them, the Giants (14-6) gained something of a swagger and Manning cast off older brother Peyton's shadow and found his footing.
Their growing confidence carried them through playoff victories at Tampa, Dallas and Green Bay, and then past the mightiest opponent of all.
Not that the Patriots were very mighty this day. They even conceded with 1 second on the clock as coach Bill Belichick ran across the field to shake the hand of jubilant Giants coach Tom Coughlin, then headed to the locker room, ignoring the final kneeldown.
Official site links ... http://www.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/NYG/NYG_logo-50x50.gifThe Giants had the perfectly game plan for defeating the Patriots as they sprung one of the greast upsets in NFL history, if not the greatest. Eli Manning was selected as Super Bowl XLII's MVP. More ... (http://giants.com/)

http://www.nfl.com/static/site/img/teams/NE/NE_logo-50x50.gifThe Patriots were nearly perfect, but their bid of perfection fell one game short as the New York Giants (http://www.nfl.com/teams/newyorkgiants/profile?team=NYG) prevailed in Super Bowl XLII. This was the first Super Bowl loss for Tom Brady. More ... (http://www.patriots.com/superbowl/xlii/)
That it was Manning taking that knee was stunning. Peyton's kid brother not only matched his sibling's achievement of last year with the Indianapolis Colts (http://www.nfl.com/teams/indianapoliscolts/profile?team=IND), but he showed the brilliant precision late in the game usually associated with, well, Brady.
Peyton Manning (http://www.nfl.com/players/peytonmanning/profile?id=MAN515097) was seen in a luxury box jumping up and pumping both fists when Burress, who didn't practice all week because of injuries, caught the winning score.
The upset also could be viewed as a source of revenge not only for the Giants, but for the other NFL teams over Spygate back in September. That cheating scandal made headlines again late in Super Bowl week, and could have placed an infinite cloud over New England's perfection.
The Giants became the first NFC wild card team to win a Super Bowl; four AFC teams have done it. They also are the second team in three years to play nothing but away games and come away with the big prize; Pittsburgh did after the 2005 season.

Dude, that's the best O-Line in football. The Giants defense just stepped it up and beat them tonight. And the Pats defense held NY to 17 points, which is damn good. I think you may be misplacing your blame.

Of course I'm ignorant - I'm not a Patriots fan, and I will never claim to be.

Second, as an Eagles fan, I will not outright compliment the Giants by complimenting their defense.

Thirdly, I'm just trying to say that it's petty to try to downsize Brady's achievements. He's the best around today, and he will go down in history as one of the best, period.

I'm not a Patriots fan. Hell - I outside of the post and off season - I don't closely follow the NFL, and yet I'm not going to make a statement like "Ben Watson is clearly a poor TE based on his performance tonight" - it would be ludicrous.

I don't think anyone worth responding to is going to downsize Brady's achievements. He is one of the best ever - he will be seen as among the best ever, forever.

I want to congratulate the Giants. Their front 4 played lights out and Brady was rushed the entire game. I think the front four was the key to the game but the Giants coverage in the secondary was impressive. I think the Giants were able to stop the rush and force the Patriots to pass which allowed them to tee off on the Patriots weakened offensive line. Heck of a defensive game plan.

The Patriots defense played pretty damn well the entire game, however they made some mistakes in the secondary and missed tackles definately hurt them. Samuel missed and interception on the sideline that was a big key, Hobbs blew the coverage on Burress on the game winning TD, up to three Patriots missing the sack on Manning on the game winning drive. These old men certainly looked old.

The Patriots offense was off key all night long up what seemed to be the game winning drive. The star of the offense all night was Wes Welker and Kevin Faulk made some key plays out of the backfield. Tom Brady was not Tom Brady. It was a valiant effort, but he was misfiring all night long. You can certainly credit the Giants defense with making Brady miss. Where the heck was Muroney all night? He had a kick return and then disappeared into the Giants front seven.

Now for the Giants offense, they showed up when it counted. Eli Manning looked Bradyesque on both TD drives. They made more big plays than the Patriots. They didn't abandon the run and complimented the run with the pass when applicable. Kudos to Manning who I have been killing all year long on the boards and otherwise. He was the Giant's "Giant Killer". I am thoroughly impressed with him now.

To me this tarnishes the Patriots season. Sure they wen't 18-0 going into the Superbowl, sure they shattered records. I understand that Brady broke the record for most touchdowns thrown in a single season. I understand Moss broke the recored for most touchdowns receiving in a single season. None of that matters though because they lost the Superbowl. That is how I feel, and I know that is how they feel. They will now be considered by some, including me, the 2nd best team of the 2007 season. The best team in the league being the Super Bowl Champions...New York Giants.

Congrats to the fans on the boards and the fans abroad. The Giants earned and and you fans deserve it.

Well said, I couldn't agree with you more...the only thing I would point out is the Giant's OL which did a tremendous job in giving Manning time to make those plays....

I mean I like the guts of Manning to be able to control the presser with only 3 minutes to go. The kid is really strong... but at the same time I'm like: Kiddo U choose the wrong Super bowl to play superman! Almost everybody wanted to be part of history and you ruin it! Now most will not remember you as a champion but rather as the guy who ruined the Patriots record! :cmad::cmad::cmad:

I do have a question for Patriot fans, where do they go from here? I mean obviously they will make the Playoffs next year but will the sting of this year stay with the team for years to come?

Also they did a statistic of the last 7 Superbowls and the 6 of the last 7 losing teams failed to make the playoffs the next year.

Peyton Manning looked Bradyesque on both TD drives. They made more big plays than the Patriots. They didn't abandon the run and complimented the run with the pass when applicable. Kudos to Manning who I have been killing all year long on the boards and otherwise. He was the Giant's "Giant Killer". I am thoroughly impressed with him now.

I would imagine the coaching staff and the players that remain will use this as motivation as they did last season's loss to the Colts. Of course it stings but eventually they will take some positives out of it.

It was almost a once in a lifetime opportunity for the Pats to go undefeated. I think it'd be hard especially next year for them to go undefeated.

So them coming back stronger after being this dominant? I just think this is a mark on the reputation.

Here's something that hasn't been brought up: They did the Madden simulation this year (which hasn't been wrong for 5 years on the victor) and it came up with the Patriots. So not only was the Patriots' perfect season denied, but that Madden simulation is back to being just a game of Madden.

Being stronger means winning the Super Bowl. That is the ultimate goal for any team. Obviously going undefeated during the regular season means nothing in my opinion. Sure it's a great accomplisment but they didn't finish the job.

Well the Patriots is not my team it s just the record that put me into it. And I doubt they gonna be as good as this year. that year was a gift from the sky ...or a joke from Hell I don't really know. But In my mind the patriots were a stronger team than the Giants the only thing making the difference was the presser.

I think what killed the patriots was the record nothing else! If The patriots had lost in the regular season I'll bet you anything they would win 1000 - 3 against the Giants.

I consider this is karma for everything that's been rumored about the Pats...

From spygate, to the (supposed) taping of the Rams walkthrough, to even when they were running up the scores on already beaten opponents, all the way to their classless head coach.

Congrats G-men, you did us all proud.

And with that, I am out.

We've had a lot of laughs tonight folks, but there's one important issue we need to talk about.

Killing strippers.

Strippers are women who take their clothes off for money, and if you pay them the right amount, may even have sex with you. There's no need to kill them. They're already dead on the inside.

Goodnight everyone!

(Translation: Thanks for participating in the pool)

He won a Superbowl. Does that make him "elite?" Not quite. He still has some stuff to prove. I personally don't think he deserved MVP. I think either a defensive player (as it was an incredibly defensive game) or Tyree should've gotten it. Granted, Tyree didn't have that impressive of stats, but he made the two catches that mattered, especially since neither were exactly pretty passes.

i agree with this, Eli threw himself into legend with that play, he may not be an elite QB yet but that play is an all time SB classic.

The announcer said it would have been a 49 Yarder so they were closer.

I disagree Matt.

I think Eli more than deserved it however if there was a way to make the defensive line all MVPs I would concede it, however if they only choose one player it had to be Eli Manning.
