Talk about the largely mysterious man behind Destro's mask, and the character himself here.

any pics for this guy... anyone know anything?

The script review seems to point that his mask will end up a cameo. Probably be like Doom in FF. :down:cmad:

i dunno DL.. it would be kinda cool.. if this flick.. was a backstory on Destro's origins.... and he gets more powerful in the sequel

Why Destro seems to be the central character of this movie, is beyond me.

It's so weird that I can't find a pic of this guy..

I found Dave Murray the jazz musician...and actor Dave Murray (the "Where Are You" Thug from Batman Begins). So is this DAVE the same thug from BB?

Nice button?
Like....I was gonna post another "mocking" pic, of like a guy in a suit or something. But it is so plain that I can't even think of something that is about as plain as this, while putting a humorous spin on it. Why even bother release a picture of someone before they are what we wanna see?

Bug-Eyed Earl

I knew he was going to have the medallion from the action figure- glad they made it small. It might have looked too garish otherwise.

Very creative. Are you saying this isn't what you expected

I honestly thought we were all expecting Destro in a black business suit, I know I was - and I'm not disappointed. I was assuming they'd give him a red tie as sort of a refrence to his big red collar, but it really isn't that big of a deal. The tie pin is a nice tribute to his medallion.

Overall, I'd say Destro is the only one who has met my expectations.

wasn't it said in the script review that he gets the mask later on? I think they're going for the movie Doc Doom angle.

Destro without mask =/= Destro. It's like Vader without his black armor is just Anakin Skywalker.

I always imagined Destro to wear a black suit and a red shirt with pimpin collars and gold chain to match his costume.

Here's hoping there isn't a scene of a whiny Destro complaining about sand.

If they don't think they can handle having Destro with a mask, then there is no point of having Destro in the first place.

What's the point of having Destro only getting his mask at the end of movie? Why can't they give him the mask early and then explain his origin via flashback or whatnots?

Side note...

My issue is why release a pic of Destro, and he doesn't have his trademark Drestro attire aka his mask, on?

It's like releasing a pic of Snakes Eyes without his ninja gear.

I cant believe that some people are okay with this.

Destro without his mask is like...well...Dr Doom without his mask...Im sure we all loved how in Fantastic 4 2 Doom went most of the film without a mask. Of course, some would say "is the mask all there is to Dr Doom?" and well, no...but without it hes not Doom...or Destro.

CEREBRAL....

Yea...i gotta wait til i see this guy in the mask to make a comment. I just dont get the "destro" feel with this actor all. Shoot i thought they would of had an actor with muscle, not this skinny old lookin' dude (side note: i do realize the comic book influence here as well)

Exactly. Destro's whole appearance is defined by his silver mask, like Dr. Doom and Vader have with their masks. By taking away the mask, you are also taking away the essence of Destro.

Isn't it obvious? Make a fantasy film where such things are plausible and fit the world in which it exists. I really don't understand why theses studios get the rights to such fantasy driven properties and then hack and slash them to death, take alot of the fun out of the property, just to pidgeon-hole the whole thing into a real world type of setting.

Just let it be what it was intended to be, pure fantasy. If it's done well enough people will turn out in droves to see it.

As for Destro, it would've been nice to see him with the mask during the film. I guess the studio is taking a wait and see approach with this film. Even so, the portrayal probably won't be the Destro everyone is hoping for.

Oh well. My hopes and enthusiam for this film are dwindling fast.

I also don't understand the decision to cast an old and apparently slight man for Destro; I thought the actor from The Mummy is an excellent choice, but he is cast for another role. I seriously didn't get a Destro vibe from this picture.

Don't talk smack about Dr. Who, alright! Christopher Eccleston has time and again proved he can be a scary badass when he wants to be.

He may be a good Dr. Who, but that doesn't mean he will become a good Destro. We might be dealing with a square peg and circle hole here...

Watch Gone in 60 seconds or 28 days later. Where Christopher Eccleston plays the bad guy in both. In 28 days later especailly he's quite creepy. But for a more Destro mode check out Elizabeth where he plays the underhanded scheemer, Thomas Howard, 4th Duke of Norfolk.

I liked Christoper Eccleston is Heroes, Shallow Graves and The Others too.
His a lot better actor than the dude in The Mummy movies who hardly even has any lines in the movie and when he does they aren't even in English. A guy whos other credits include the lame Darkman sequels and a henchman in a Van Damme flick.

David Murray was cast first. But he couldn't get a work permit so they re-cast Chris Eccelston as Destro.
