I've been in love with Sienna Miller since Keen Eddie. What Jude Law did to her was terrible. She needs to meet nice, stable guys like us and not pretentious pretty boy actors.

I think she would've made a better Zarana actually.

Baroness is not a hard role to play or cast. Just about anyone can play this character. Look at Olivia Munn on attack of the show. Good God was she ever hot as Baroness.

Despite her frequency in the tabloid news, Sienna is a beautiful actress (love her in Casonova with Heath Ledger), and actually has some acting chops. I think she's a great cast and I look forward to see her in slinky body suits. :)

I would have rather have somebody older as Baroness, such as Monica Belucci (even though I am no big fan of her). Maybe Caterina Murino? Miller is a bit young still for the role. But then again, the casting in general seems quite young.

Sienna was interviewed at the Baftas the other night and she was talking about all the training she was going through for the GI Joe movie. She is doing Martial Arts, Weapons Training, ect.

Her characters got a lot of action apperantly.

Of course, although I dont believe it to be the case here, it really wouldnt surprise me if they do decide to go with a blonde Baroness. I never thought there would be a blonde Daisy Duke, but it happened. Plus theres the whole Cathy Lee Crosby casting with Woman Woman (which basically reflected the de-powered years, but had nothing to do with anything remotely 'classic' about the character).

Hollywood can make some very peculiar decisons sometimes to say the very least.

I'm going to guess that she was dateing Rex a.k.a. Cobra Commander and that this is where he "dies" and this is where she turns to Destro and M.A.R.S. and will create a love triangle with Baroness/Destro/CC throughout the 3 flicks.

I'm baseing this on 2 things.

1)Duke is also in this scene (ala the pics of hi mwe have seen take place during the funural scene)

2) It's the stupid predictable direction that hollywood movies go so it really isn't that far of a stretch to assume this. And lets be honest, they have already made more then enough mistakes with this flick so far so hey whats stoping them from doing this one?

Well she only joined Destro and Cobra originally because her brother was killed in Southeast Asia by Snake-Eyes. They just made her brother relevant to their story in the movie version. That isn't how you do her right. Movie makers know that characters need depth in order for a movie to be good, you don't just throw them into the middle of it with no story about them. And do you even know why she is bad? Because her brother got killed by Snake-Eyes in the comics. It's the same ****, she's been a sympathetic bad guy since the beginning.

Depth? Depth dosent come from trying to make a villain sympathetic. We also don't need EVERY bad guy tied to the frigging heroes.

Secondly yes that is how you do her. Have it open with Baronness gunning down a ton of army guys. There, sets up shes bad and all that good news. Then when the joes are being debriefed on what happend we get the background on the character.

Hawk: "Anastasia DeCobry a.k.a. The Baroness....yadda yadda" takes 2 seconds to fill in the audience about her or Destro or Zartan etc.

Then again Im sure you loved the FF movies and spider-man 3.

This is why you sit behind your computer and people who know what they're doing make the movies. I never saw the Fantastic Four movies because they're ****ing gay. I didn't care for Spider-Man 3 either. Speaking of Spider-Man, you notice that they don't start off as villains. They have reasons why they become bad guys. Doc Ock makes his tentacles to help with his experiment, it goes wrong, his wife dies, they take control of him etc. They didn't start the movie with a guy roaming the streets of New York who has 4 metal tentacles that calls himself Doctor Octopus. Had they done that it would have been a stupid move.

And I know that about Baroness' origin. She's still a sympathetic villain.

Regardless, I think the Baroness picture proves to the naysayers that at least from the looks department, Sienna Miller had been a pretty spot on choice. She seems to carry the look well and with the addition of the glasses, really does resemble the Baroness.

Has it not occurred to you that the Selene costume from Underworld was indeed copied from Baroness'? Baroness is a character that was invented in the 80's. That leather form fitting suit is her trademark. Selene is a new character. I think it's safe to assume who copied from who, no matter which movie came out first.

Yes, but even if they just happen to design the Selene outfit without any influence of the Baroness' in mind, you can't say that the film makers of GI:Joe copied from 'Underworld'. Joe came first. I really liked her in this. Thought her performance was pretty good, thought she embodied the character well enough, and she managed to sort of have chemistry with Tatum even though he had none with her. I'm actually glad they didn't have her use the accent. That might have been one too many for this movie. :).

Her action stuff was great, and it was a joy to watch her use her weaponry.

She married into her title and wealth rather than being born into it, which wasn't the case in the comics.

Anyway, I can certainly sympathize with the disappointment people have with Baroness being a victim rather than a true force of evil, however I think it would be a bad idea to backpedal on it. Obviously they're going to have her nanites get reactivated at some point in the sequel, and if done correctly I think it could work well, but I think that if their intention was that she should be a tragic/sympathetic character, they should stick to their guns rather than waffling, because if they did make her turn truly evil, it would hurt the story. I think it's better to just accept that this is a different spin on the character rather than trying to shoe-horn her into the mold of the original, since doing the latter would overstep the boundaries of suspension of disbelief.

"She's not the real Baroness" would feel like a total cop-out, and besides, I liked Miller as Baroness (even though in some ways she was a departure from the original). Like I said, they made the choice to change her, and as such they should stick to their guns or they risk making a big mess of things.

I think that the best way to do it would be to have her nanites get reactivated in the last act of the second movie as a game changer, setting her up to be bad in the third movie and for Duke to want to rescue her again. It would give the story some unfinished business to take care of between the second and third movie and keep the fans happy.

Also, I like the idea of Baroness escaping rather than being busted out by Cobra. It could offer a great action scene and show off just how bad ass she is. :word:

Yup it would be best to do that. I hope someone involved in the movie is online looking at our requests. It's the best possible way. To the filmmakers, don't compromise and have her early. Ignore the fan complaints and do what's best. It'll work out better at the end of the movie. Then in the third we can have more Baroness badassery.

It would be like ESB. She needs to be saved from Duke Hell, maybe if they make a third, she dies becoming a tragic character. Even if he wanted her good, she could never be good permanantly.

The whole Baroness going good was also the one thing that bothered me, it made me really dislike the ending, which was unfortunate since I loved everything else.

I think in the sequel they should make her evil again, but not due to mind control (though I'm sure they probably will). I think hey should exploit her love for Rex, as a way to get her to the dark side again. Have Rex fill her head with lies, or make her see things the way he does. That way I think it would feel natural, it's plausible and doesn't feel forced like if they use the nanites yet again.

She's confused, she loves her brother so much, that she in a way follows him out of love, even though she knows it'll take her the wrong way, and maybe in this she finds pleasure too, cause being an evil b*tch sounds like so much fun. She can always have one or two good-girl flashes, since she wouldn't be under the mind control, and she still loves Duke, but she would still be predominantly evil.
