25th Anniversary GI JOES figures

Just want to know who else have been collecting the new figures that celebrate the 25th anniversary of GI JOES from Hasbro. My bro & I both collect them, and so far I have Storm Shadow (my fave), Cobra Commander, and Flint (soon). I won't collect that many figures but they are pretty awesome.

Is anybody else having a tough time with their stiff joints? I read that if you dip the part of the joint on the figure that's stiff into a cup of hot (not boiling) water it loosens them up.

Personally I don't wanna risk it.

That can work. Heating up plastic allows a bit of flex, but you cant over heat it. I havent had that bad of a time with the tight joints. After you get the initial "snap", they move fine.

You should still be able to find wave 3 at retail. 1&2 may be a little harder or impossible to find. The newer waves, 4&5 are hitting now. Ive also been able to find the 5 packs at TRUs. There are 2 waves of comic 2 packs also hitting the shelves currently.

Big Bad Toy Store is a place where alot of collectors get their figs, if you dont want to hunt.

Theyve been using the same molds for years until this wave. If you look at the many different series of Joes that have been put out over the years, alot of them are the same molds, just repainted or with new head sculpts. The purpose of the 25th line was to give us updated sculpts with the vintage feel.

I just picked up the Armored CC and a CG today at WM. I was out "hunting" today and Joe is out in all the stores in full force. Problem is, they dont stay on the pegs long. However I must say the stores have been pretty good at keeping up with the demand.

Recently i've been stocking up on the 2 packs. I now have ripper/torch, catp. ace/wild weasel, xamot/tomax, and scarred cobra office versus iron grenadier(i think that's the one). I also got the new cobra infantryman. I"m still trying to find sg. flash, armored cobra commander, Iron grenadier destro, snowjob, and torpedo.

The scarred Cobra officer comes with an unmasked Crimson Guardsman.
Its been announced that there is going to be another comic 2 pack that includes an Iron Grenadier and Destro, so if I dont find the single, Ill just get the Destro with the 2 pack. In my area the 2 packs seem to be moving real slow as opposed to the single figs which seem to go pretty quickly.

Over the last two weeks I've picked up 4 two packs and 6 single packs. And I've only saw four other single figures I didn't get. But in my area the 2 packs also out number the single packs. Last weekend alone I would say the 2 packs out numbered the single figures 3-1, if not more.

Our stores up here in canada just get in 2 cases of figs so it kinda sucks.
In good news, hasbro is rushing wave 6 out here with the american cards instead of the crappy canadian ones.

I've been going to various Targets, Walmarts, K-Marts and they always have tons of Stalkers and Buzzers, I don't know how the they sell the other figures out so quickly.

Toys R'Us seems to never have any of the single figures, I always see either the Cobra or Joe 5-packs, the only time I saw any was during Christmas shopping.

Guess I spoke too soon, since I posted I couldn't find anything, I seem to be on a roll. I've picked up the twins, Serpentor, Duke, Roadblock, and Destro. Wish I could afford more, but 3 kids eat up alot of income. Luckily, my 5 yr old saw the few I got and is now an official Joeite! I can't wait to get him over to my mom's and show him the Defiant. Yep we can get them there. And we have some many stalkers where I live it's not even funny. But I haven't seen a Firefly yet at all and he is one of my favorite Cobra's he's on par with Zartan at the very top in my opinion. Though I haven't seen a Zartan either.

Sorry but just needed to rant here. I have a friend who works part time security at one of the local Walmarts who called me last night to let me know there was a shipment of GI Joes on the floor. Well I was asleep when he called and got the message this morning when I got up for school. So I got dressed nice and quick to run to the store and when i get there there's a couple scarlets and a couple of the scarlet hawk 2 packs and nothing else. I call him up, cause I know he's not in bed yet, to ask him about it and apparently the local comic shop owner and one of the guys he's with showed up and didn't even wait for them to be shelved and just started grabbing the Joes from the boxes. They've done this crap before they stockpile and after a few months they mark them up and sell them in their store. One of the guys once actually tried to take a Hush Series Riddler from my younger bro when he got it off the shelf, he physically tried to take it from him. It does explain partially why I've been having trouble getting my hands on some of the Joes I've been wanting. I don't have the time to sit in Walmart at 1 in the morning waiting on shipments so looks like I'll just have to keep trying and hope.

What a difference regional distribution makes! I thought the entire Canadian market had limited access to 25th anniversary Joes, then I pay a visit to Vancouver and I'm swimming with them! Still no Firefly (will have to resort to e-bay for that one) but this week alone I've spent the food budget and picked up Lady Jaye, the double-knife Snake Eyes, a couple of Vipers, Wild Bill, Spirit, the Crimson Twins, the AWE Striker and the HISS Tank!

As far as I could tell around here neither of our targets got them at all I was checking everyday for 2 months in there now I just go if I'm near by and have some free time. Though today I did get the new Firefly and Storm Shadow 2 pack, at Toys r Us, which was cool it was the one I was really wanting then I looked at the other side of the aisle and they had 2 full shelves of three packs.

I got the Firefly Storm Shadow pack and indeed the goggles do come off as well as the vest. Be careful though his backpack his a tiny little flashlight and multitool in it. I almost lost them when I pulled him out, as the backpack got stuck and popped open.

I was at TRUs today and they just did their Fall reset. Joe had a pretty big section, about 6 feet. They had the new comic 2 packs, inclsuding the Nemesis Enforcer / Falcon 2 pack. Man, was I disappointed. Neesis Enforcer, now named Nemesis Immortal, looked like crap. Very cheap looking and wings still arent big enough! Falcom also had a terrible face sculpt. I was soo looking forward to this set to. :(

I bought my Barbeque at Target. Ive found him a couple of times since then. Cant seem to track down a B.A.T. though.

I also found the Falcon/Nemisis pack at TRU in North Olmsted, OH yesterday. Besides the bad sculpts, Falcon has an empty leg holster but no gun to go in it! Add to that the Wings and tentacles are shown in the comic on his back at the same time, but the figure is like the orginal in that only one can be on at a time. Lot of potential, but I say poor execution. To top it off, this wave ships with no Doc stickers, so I am still one short to order my extra.

So far I have 48 of the 25th Anniversary. I really like what I'm seeing, but I have a few complaints.

The joints do get stuck sometimes and I worry about breaking them, but since I don't play with them and I just want to pose them on a shelf that's not a huge deal. My biggest complaint is the large amount of Duke, Snake Eyes, and Storm Shadow. I understand why, it's the same reason there is dozens of Spider-Man or Wolvine for every 1 "unloved" character... still, when there are so many awesome Joes that came out in the past 25 years, I really want to see more variety. Plus, there's still uniforms of Snake Eyes, Duke, and what not that they haven't even done, really.

But, I do love what I've seen so far. Plus, the articulation on these rock. You can get some crazy poses with them.

That's a good question, and it would be sad if that's happening. However, considering how much they're pushing the "25th anniversary" logo (which is meaningless to children) and the fact there's close to zero above-the-line marketing on these toys (which I'm loving, BTW), it seems to me their primary target market is adult and young adult collectors, with a secondary market being children/parents via the point-and-grunt and pricing strategy.

For me, they stay stocked, but it's with figures from two or three waves back. Stuff I bought months ago. You'd think TRU would realize, "hey, nerds will buy these figures the day they come out, maybe we should be up to date with what we got". But no. They fail. TRU used to be the best, the greatest, now I get better luck at WalMarts and KMarts. Fail.

I picked up the Firebat today, not because I like it (unless a vehicle can carry more than one figure for a ride, it's not worth getting IMO) but the price was too good to pass up.

Is it ethical to take advantage when an independent comic book store clearly has something mispriced? The Firebat was only 14$ (Canadian) when all the rest of the vehicles were 24$.

Customize, my friend. A couple of Gundam pens can work wonders. Color in Serpentor's eyes black; it's f'in wild.

That's what I do with a lot of the "doubles" I'm getting as part of two-packs and group sets; a little shave here and there, some drawn in tattoos (heads and face too!) and some spot painting and you've got brand new characters. I'm totally turning the second Major Bludd I'm getting as part of the desert troopers set tomorrow into a total freak.

Okay, okay, I realize that for customization effort, this one is an epic fail, but I've been wanting to do this ever since I saw the new HISS tank on the web.
