I am so damn excited about the prospect of a G.I. Joe movie it's not even funny! What i'm not excited about is the countless ways Hollywood can **** this movie up like you wouldn't believe....

Now, you would THINK that G.I. Joe battling Cobra would have...oh I dont know, one of the most important villains in the G.I. Joe mythos right?

Could I be wrong? Are they making Destro the main focal point for villainy in this flick? If so can't say I'm overly impressed. Nor do I think the legions of G.I. Joe fans would be so impressed.

That's like not having Megatron in the Transformers movie! :cmad:

Somone, anyone confirm that one of the coolest toys and characters in G.I.Joe will be in the damn movie!

I'm getting the vibe that he will be a behind-the-scenes puppet master. Meaning we will never really see him, but we will feel his presence. Then in the end he will make a cameo for the sequel. Sort of like a "If you want something done right! .. :cmad:"

But yeah, so far it is pretty much hinted from script reviews that he is in there. ... A little.

Dog Lips you are the man, thanks for the response! I am SOOO not impressed with CC being an Emperor Palp type character..I guess it's kinda cool, I mean if they did a Matrix or POTC thing where the sequel came out like next year...but ive already waited long enough for a G.I.Joe movie I wanna see Cobra Commander in action with is badass silver face plate Battle Helment! :cmad:

Cobra Commander just doesn't seem like the type to step back and let Destro do his handiwork. He's an ego maniac bent on world domination and he is called Cobra COMMANDER so why not let him oh I don't know COMMAND

I hope he's in the movie.

True, but it's one of those things where you better hope there is a sequel... If not fans of the character will get snubbed. I'm sure that's the studios hope, with all the emphasis put on franchises these days, but you never know.

Yes he is, but he's not really the Cobra Commander we know and love.

I hope he's just not a behind the scenes kinda guy...

I was hoping to see the Cobra hierarchy and it's various branches in work:

Cobra Commander and the Crimson Guard
Destro and M.A.R.S. (Military Armarments Research Syndicate)
Zartan and the Dreadnoks.

I hope he's not just walking around.

So CC will be like Dr. Claw from Inspector Gadget? That makes me sad.

Well, if he acted as he did on the show, that would just be....yipes. A tad too foppish and crybaby-like. Sigma Six is an example of how I would like him to be portrayed, but his take is the only one. The rest of that show I hate.

Really? What is he going to be like? Please tell me that he covers his face - he HAS to do that at least!

Hes in the film, I think its going to be a spoiler...or TRY to be...but eventually it will get out. Go back and read the casting rumors...its in there.

...Joseph Gordon Levitt?

...Joseph Gordon Levitt?

Possibly. There's no official news confirming he is Cobra Commander, just rumors. He's the only one out of the cast who's character hasn't been named yet. I think that's why some believe he's playing Cobra Commander.

For all I know, Joseph Gordon-Levitt isn't even in the movie.

If he is going to play Cobra Commander, I think we are likely to see a sort of "Rise of Cobra" storyline. Honestly, I can't wait!

I heard one rumor of that little geek as CC, that makes no sense. Why have such a good cast then screw up one of the best villians ever!:cmad:

It pisses me off that I can probably beat up movie CC. And I can't beat up anyone. :csad:

CC is supposed to be a lightweight anyway, and hopefully he'll wear a mask.

DOG LIPS
02-20-2008, 08:52 PM
Doubt it. They wouldn't cast a young pretty boy then keep him under a hood or silver mask the whole time. But eh, I have no idea so I'll wait and see when we get some pics or more info.

Jamie Madrox

If he is indeed Duke's best friend at some point, then there's most likely going to be some scenes of him without the mask showing his friendship with Duke.

So we probably will see what Cobra Commander looks like before the mask.

The "Palpatine" references may be a close idea. He may be CC the whole time, running around unmasked with the Joes the whole movie as a seemingly good guy, but also in the dark barking orders at Destro in the hood/mask. Then of course a big moronic reveal at the end. Dun dun duuuuunnnnn!

Eehhh... hopefully when he's in costume standing next to other characters he doesn't come off ridiculous looking like Dark Helmet. Maybe he should only be in shots by himself... and maybe give him a stool to stand on or something.

How ironic:

The September 16, 2005 draft by David Elliot and Paul Lovett went like this:

"At the opening we meet DUKE and REX as 14-year-old best friends and army brats getting into trouble together [...] the Joes carry out the mission and something goes horribly wrong. Rex is horribly scarred as a result and I mean bad. He makes a recovery at a hospital and then disappears. Apparently, the Baroness was sneaking into his hospital room and shooting up Rex with steroids to speed his recovery. The six Joes track Rex down to Paraguay and they go after him. Destro is injecting a testosterone/growth hormone gene doping cocktail into Rex made by a DR. BENDER in turn making Rex into a chemically enhanced super soldier. The roids are also screwing with Rex’s head. Rex is reborn as Cobra. Destro wants Cobra to lead his army of super soldiers. The super soldiers are the best mercenaries from around the world that are also being injected with the same juice as Rex is. So basically that is what G.I. JOE is about - Duke and the Joes must stop Destro, Cobra and the chemically enhanced super soldiers.

What is cool is that there is no big Macguffin weapon of mass destruction that the Joes must stop like in the James Bond films. Cobra and the super soldiers are the weapons. Like the Baroness explains, in society’s relentless quest for more technologically advanced weapons, people seem to have forgotten the greatest weapon ever made: the human body."

Indeed. No arguements there. He's just... tiny.
"Awe, look it's baby Cobra Commander! He's so adorable! Look at him playing 'take over the world'. So naive and full of silly dreams. It's sooo cute!" I can imagine Destro patting him on the head - "Good job sport!". :oldrazz:

That sounds too much like Batman and Robin

Cobra Commander has always been skinny.

Cobra Commander has always been skinny.

He was slender, yes, but he wasn't a twig. I've never seen him portrayed with the body of an adolescent.

I have no probs with Levitt as an actor but come on. He is
listed as 5'10" wich means he should weigh at least 165. He looks like no more than a buck and a quarter. That woman in the backround looks like she could whup his ass.

You're over exaggerating his body size. He's the perfect size. Plus, I'm sure he's going to bulk up somewhat for the film since he's supposed to be in the military.
