On Feb. 2, 2008, the Boston Herald reported that a member of the New England Patriots’ video staff taped the St. Louis Rams’ walkthrough on the day before Super Bowl XXXVI. While the Boston Herald based its Feb. 2, 2008, report on sources that it believed to be credible, we now know that this report was false, and that no tape of the walkthrough ever existed.
Prior to the publication of its Feb. 2, 2008, article, the Boston Herald neither possessed nor viewed a tape of the Rams’ walkthrough before Super Bowl XXXVI, nor did we speak to anyone who had. We should not have published the allegation in the absence of firmer verification.
The Boston Herald regrets the damage done to the team by publication of the allegation, and sincerely apologizes to its readers and to the New England Patriots’ owners, players, employees and fans for our error.
thank god. Boston herald sucks monkey balls.

In regard to the Walsh tapes..
According to the AP’s Rachel Cohen, “the most scandalous part of the tapes shown before Goodell's news conference had nothing to do with stealing signals - it was several minutes of close-ups of San Diego Chargers cheerleaders performing during a 2002 game.”

I just ordered this:
But you can put a variety of different logos, helmets, etc. on various places, chest, back and arm.
And of course you can do it by team.

FALCONS SIGN RYAN
Posted by Mike Florio on May 20, 2008, 3:52 p.m.
So much for those concerns that agent Tom Condon would take full advantage of the fact that the Falcons desperately needed quarterback Matt Ryan, the No. 3 overall pick in the draft, under contract ASAFP.
The Falcons have announced that Ryan has agreed to terms.
Adam Schefter reports that the six-year package is worth a total of $72 million, with $34.75 million in guaranteed money. Jake Long, the No. 1 overall pick, signed only a five-year deal, but likewise received only $30 million guaranteed.
Ryan is the second first-round pick to sign, and the fifth total draft pick under contract. The Dolphins signed three late-rounders on Monday.

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Chargers have made inquiries to the Dolphins regarding Jason Taylor.
We're not quite sure where he'd fit with Shaun Phillips and Shawne Merriman already at OLB, but GM A.J. Smith can never have too many good players. The teams also have a history of dealing (i.e. Chris Chambers, Cleo Lemon, and A.J. Feeley). The Dolphins' asking price around the draft was a second-round pick. San Diego would probably be an ideal landing spot in Taylor's mind. May. 22 - 7:14 pm et

Broncos released RB Travis Henry.
"Although Travis has the ability to be one of the top running backs in the NFL," coach Mike Shanahan said in a pointed statement, "We did not feel his commitment to the Broncos was enough to warrant a spot on this football team." We suspect Shanahan is referring to Henry's conditioning, which potentially led to his hamstring strain. Henry, 29, has played a full season just once in his career and is one missed or failed drug test away from a one-year suspension. The Broncos are smart to move on. Henry will likely have to take a deal for around the minimum to catch on elsewhere.

The Baltimore Sun reports that Jonathan Ogden is expected to announce his retirement in the coming week.
The first ballot Hall of Famer has reportedly let people around him know he's retiring, but hasn't told Ravens coach John Harbaugh. The Ravens may still try to change Ogden's mind, but otherwise have decent options in Jared Gaither or Adam Terry.

RAIDERS INK McFADDEN
Weeks before the opening of training camp, three of the top five picks in the NFL draft are already under contract.
On Thursday night, the Raiders quietly announced on their web site that running back Darren McFadden, the No. 4 overall pick, agreed to terms. A press conference will be aired on Raiders.com at 2:00 p.m. EDT.
Various media reports indicate that it is a six-year, $60 million deal, with $26 million in guaranteed money.
We look forward to breaking down the terms (yeah, we’re football contract geeks, and proud of it . . . sort of), since the early opt-out from the Collective Bargaining Agreement prevents salary from being guaranteed in the sixth year of 2008 rookie deals, which in turn limits the amount of actual guarantees that the top sixteen players in the draft could receive on a six-year deal.
Because of the rookie pool that caps the total money that can be paid by a team to its first-year players and the rule that limits the annual growth of rookie salary to 25 percent of the first-year salary, most of the top players have been receiving their guaranteed money in the form of a first-year roster bonus and minimum salary, with guaranteed salaries and/or guaranteed roster bonuses in all future years of the deal.
For McFadden and any of the other players taken in the top 16 of the draft, any six-year deal necessarily will be unable to include guaranteed salary in the sixth year, due to the early opt-out.

Erie County District Attorney Frank Clark now believes Bills' RB Marshawn Lynch was driving the vehicle involved in last week's alleged hit-and-run accident.

BENSON BUSTED AGAIN
Bears running back Cedric Benson has been arrested. Again.
This time, Benson was busted for driving while intoxicated in Austin. He was stopped for a traffic violation and refused to submit to breath or blood testing.
When Benson was arrested for drunk boating and resisting arrest in May, Benson professed his innocence. Witnesses claimed that Benson had been roughed up by police, who ultimately give him a face full of pepper spray.
This time around, no additional information has been reported as to whether there are any such side issues.
Regardless, the Bears have to be getting tired of this routine. The fourth overall pick in the 2005 draft is becoming far more trouble than he ever was worth.
And remember this — the Bears dumped defensive tackle Tank Johnson last year after Johnson was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Though Johnson presumably was on a last-chance arrangement with the team after being incarcerated earlier in the year on a probation violation, Benson could be in a similar predicament with the team if he has been told in the wake of his May arrest that his next arrest will be his last one as a member of the Chicago Bears.

The Gap is Gone:
Report: Michael Strahan retires after SB win
FoxSports.com's Jay Glazer reports that Michael Strahan has decided to retire.
"It's time. I'm done," Strahan said, who wanted to let teammates know before minicamp. While Strahan will be remembered for his record 22.5 sack season and his big mouth, he's a Hall-of-Famer because he was also consistently strong against the run. Strahan is fifth-all time in sacks and could enter the Hall with buddy Brett Favre and Warren Sapp in five years. The Giants pass rush will suffer, but they are well equipped to move Justin Tuck outside and use Mathias Kiwanuka more as a pass rusher. Jun. 9 - 11:26 am et
