I'd be nervous if I were a Jet fan... from Farve's own mouth... "there were times in practice where I was thinking if I actually made the right decision"... this guy is light years out of football shape both mentally and physically... this is going to be Vinny Testaverde all over again... the 05 Vinny... not the 1998...

Panthers first offense looked sharp in the first pre-season game. I hope Delhomme's arm can stay healthy through the season. DeAngelo Williams looked really good.

Yeah I read it... but why even throw that out there this early on like the second practice? Obviously it's going to come off a lot better than had it been week 4 with the Jets at 1-3 and Farve struggling... but even if you are a guy like Farve... you want to exude confidence. Joking time is over... he's got three weeks before it's the real deal. Had he signed with the team pre-camp and all it would have been fine. I mean he has the right mindset but you wonder how motivated a 38 year old guy who has had the kind of success he has had for all these years can be.

The Patriots will NOT win the Super Bowl. Here's why.
Since 1973, the loser of the previous Super Bowl has not gone on to win it the next season. The only time it has happened was Super Bowl V(Cowboys lost SB-V and won SB-VI) and Super Bowl VI(Dolphins lost SB-VI and won SB-VII).
Also, if history repeats itself, the Buccaneers will NOT win the Super Bowl. Of the 42 Super Bowls that have been played, no team has played in their own stadium.

Moss was a big factor in the Pat's performance last year. His re-signing with them ensures their capabilities and momentum from last year carry forward, but it does not bring new capabilities to their team that they did not already have as your post kind of makes it sound.

I was WAY OFF in my preseason picks last year so I'll hold off till like third week pre season once a guage the injuries and everything else... logic tells you the Cowboys and the Chargers but I don't see it happening... I see another suprise from at least one of the conferences. The Jets and Browns are the first teams that come to mind in the AFC... maybe the Bills, Titans, Texans, Denver in that second tier... but along with the big three, more than likely the Jags or Steelers will come out of the AFC. NFC I have no clue. Logic says Dallas but I can see Minesota, Seattle, GB, Washington, Philli... I think the GIants are obviously a playoff team and they can still win the division but I don't see them winning 2-3 games in the post season again.

Theyll lose to the Pats, but the Jets and Arizone are garbage, Favre doesnt change that.
Yeah okay... I can't notice Pat fan bias one bit... here is what you are telling me... the worst team IN FOOTBALL last season is going to be better than both the Cards and Jets the 1st month of the season... the logic is laughable.
We agree; they lose to San Diego and Houston.
Agreed
Theyll beat Oakland and St. Louis
MAYBE... but highly unlikely

Winnable... but at Buffalo and at NY in December for a team that went 1-15 last year? No chance. And find me one other poster that disgrees with my individual breakdown of the Dolphins schedule other than a few nitpicks and I'll stop talking.

:bh::bh:It's Time For Alex's Power Rankings!:bh::bh:
Moving On.....
1. Colts: Payton Manning, Wayn Harrison, Bob Sanders and his clones will have anoter good year. Perhaps to a Superbowl Berth
2. Patriots: They didn't really make goodmoves this off season. But they still have Welker, Moss and Brady so it's all good. Will just have to see if that defense can be god. seems a little iffy me-thinks.
3. Cowboys: Terrel Owens and his Quarterback Tony Romo should have another decent season. I wouldhave said different but Mee threatened to flay me alive if i didn't say positive stuff about the Cowgirls.
4. Chargers: Now that Norv Turner has got some experiance with the Chargers they might actually have a good start to the season. But LT and Rivers have to stay healthy and LT has to stop fighting for that 3 yards instead of going 30 yard rushes.
5. Steelers: They got there ass beat in January. Now there gonna come back and prove you wrong, Jerks.
6. Jaguars: They made some moves this off season. They gave the Pats a good fight in January. Expect them to do it again.
7. Giants: YOUR intergalactic champions of the universe New York Giants Will definatley Not Repeat. But if Eli Manning keeps his head on straight then they might have a good Playoff run.
8. Browns: All Hail Derek Anderson! With him starting full time him and Braylon Edwards back to continue to make amazing catches. They should have a potent offense. Defense....who knows....
9. Vikings: Purple Jesus takes the start, there QB is back to hopefully not screw up so they should have a playoff appearence.
10. Jets: With The Immortal Brett Farve starting this should be a very interesting season for the Jets. They could suck big time or Rock. I Can't decide which.....
11. Saints: Will they Come Stumbling in Or will they come Marching in? They had a bad start but a good ending....hopefully they'll get out of the gates fats.
12. Seahawks: With Alexander gone the pressure goes on Hassleback to carry the team to victory. I expect a Division Title at the most from them.
13. 49ers: They had soke hype last year but failed. Will Alex Smith finnaly be the QB San Fransiscoe Has Prayed for? We'll see. I expect at most a wild card appearence.
14. Packers: Will Aaron Rodgers be who we thought he was? we'll see.
15. Cardinals: Matt Leinaert better get his head of his ass. Or he's gonna get it me thinks. Will the cards make the playoffs? Maybe, with some luck.
16. Rams: Maybe, just maybe. They can actually be good....
17. Redskins: Losing Gibbs was hard. There Play will be poor this year. Playoffs, not gonna happen.
18. Bucceneers: I'd say if they maybe had offered more for Favre i'd rank em higher. But, they failed and there QB fiasco will continue.
19. Eagles: If they wore those ugly as sin uniform throwback it'd blind the oppenents and they'd win....sadly....I beleive Goodle has banned that Uniform and has had it shredded.
20. Raiders: There on the road to recovery. With Mcfadden and Russle they could have a good offense....yes....I just said that...
21. Lions: *Kitna* Were going 10-6. *Me* More like 6-10.
22. Bears: Wrecks Grossman is still the starter. If only Devin hester played every position....
23. Cheifs: Playoff appearence, very doubtful. i smell 5-11.
24. Broncos: Jay Cutler is the next Favre? Really? I say the next Rex Grossman. But with less Wrecks. They might make the playoffs. But I don't know what to see for the Broncos.
25. Texans: There the Texans. Nuff Said.
26. Bengals: With half of the roster in Jail they'll probably have to forfeit games due to failing o meet minimum roster requiments...
27. Panthers: I smell injuries. Vinny Testerverde will save them when they sign them again! Is he retired yet? Or is he still alive?
28. Titans: They aint proving me wrong. And plus Vince Young doesn't have the Power Ring.
29. Ravens: Mixed feeling on this one. But there probably gonna stink it up on the feild me thinks. Unless Kyle Boller saves them. (heh)
30. Falcons: Matt Ryan is Starting? There starting a rookie QB? Desperate Whores.
31. Bills: Marshawn Lynch is back as the starter. hoorah. They'll still be in the basement of the AFC East.
32. Dolphins: :dry::lmao::dry:
And in other news. Tom Brady announced that he is in fact an android made by skynet. which explains why he is so good, and so beutiful.

You see ESPN doesn't want to appease the actual football fans... they want to cater to the general casual audience so they pretty much beat the same stories throughout the broadcast. It was pretty much 90% Packers/Farve/Rogers and about 10% ocho cinco. I am absolutely disgusted with them. I'd take back Theisman and Maguire any day of the week... just get Kornheiser out of there.

I think Jets will definitely double their win total from last year, and have a chance to go either 9-7 or 10-6 (depending on how well Favre adjust to his new system). They do have 10 winnable games so if they win those games they will be in very good shape.

Ten NFL Predictions You Can Take to the Bank
Counting down the 10 predictions you need to know heading into the 2008 NFL Season.
10. The Green Bay Packers will win the NFC North with a 10-6 record,
Sure, their Hall of Fame quarterback is gone and the Packers have zero NFL starts combined between their three quarterbacks. But don’t forget that Green Bay has one of the youngest and best defenses in the league along with young studs at the skill positions (Ryan Grant at RB and Greg Jennings at WR).
With five games against the Lions, Bears, and Falcons, the Packers will be halfway to a 10-win season and division title before you know it.
9. The New York Giants will finish last in the NFC East.
Every team in the NFC East got better except the defending Super Bowl Champs. Don’t harp too long on their late season run from last year, as thrilling as it was. The only threat on offense is Plaxico Burress.
Besides, the recent trend has seen teams struggle the following year after winning the NFC (Bears, Seahawks, Eagles, Panthers). The Giants won’t be any different.
8. The New Orleans Saints will have the most prolific offense in the NFL while finishing 12-4, tops in the NFC.
Adding Jeremy Shockey will prove to be more valuable to the Saints offense than drafting Reggie Bush. Giving Brees another target, similar to Antonio Gates, will make the Saints offense difficult to stop.
Brees had a rating of 100 or better in seven of the last 12 games last season. Expect that trend to continue.
7. Braylon Edwards will lead the NFL in touchdowns, not Randy Moss or LT.
Because of the surreal performance put on by Randy Moss last season (23 touchdowns), people forget that Edwards put on a show of his own with 16 touchdown grabs.
Only LaDainian Tomlinson (18) stood between Edwards and Moss. Expect Edwards to get close to 20 again this year, as he has quickly become the best young receiver in the NFL.
6. The Minnesota Vikings will not make the playoffs.
You read correctly. The most important position in the game is quarterback. I understand that they have Adrian Peterson and a nasty defense. I understand that they have a beastly offensive line. And yes, I know that Trent Dilfer led a similar team to a Super Bowl with the Ravens.
But here’s a news flash. Tarvaris Jackson isn’t even in the same league as Dilfer. Nine touchdowns and 12 interceptions in a season aren’t going to get it done. Sorry.
5. The Cowboys will have a better team but finish with a worse record than last season.
Dallas will have a better running game, a better defense, and a better special teams unit. But don’t expect 13 or 14 wins. They play in the brutal NFC East and have to play at Green Bay, at Cleveland, and at Pittsburgh.
That’s a tough schedule for anyone. Expect 11 or 12 wins. However, they will end the playoff-winless streak this season and at the end of the day, that’s more important.
4. Larry Johnson will have another terrible year.
The Chiefs’ quarterbacks don’t scare anybody. Herm Edwards likes to run his running backs into the ground. The Chief’s offensive line is among the worst in the league. Larry Johnson had a significant foot injury last year. If all that is not a recipe for a bad season, I don’t know what is.
3. Drew Brees will be the league’s MVP.
He will throw for 26-28 touchdowns, seven-10 interceptions, complete over 65 percent of his passes, amass about 4,000 yards, and have a rating above 100 by the end of the season en route to winning the MVP award. He's had similar numbers before.
2. The Dallas Cowboys will not represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. New Orleans will.
If predictions No. 8 and No. 3 on this list are not enough, here is one more for you. New Orleans will have the advantage of playing at home in the Superdome come playoff time. Why? Because they'll have the best record in the NFC.
The Cowboys were ranked 14th on a list of strength of schedules while the Saints were ranked 28th. Remember how loud it got there when the Saints played their first game back after Katrina? Expect something similar if Dallas comes to town for the NFC Championship game.
1. The New England Patriots will not represent the AFC in the Super Bowl; San Diego will.
Two simple reasons: the Pats didn’t get better in the offseason. And, the Chargers are a better team when healthy. You’ll see.
Bonus: The Madden Curse will strike again, as Brett Favre will not throw more than 20 touchdowns and will miss the playoffs, and then retire...temporarily.

pretty much every offseason the Panthers or the Saints are picked to win the South...even though the Saints' defense got worse each year and the Panthers offense can't stay healthy and really hasn't proved it has the depth to stay competitive and they lost most of their D-line. Though the saints will have a good offense I don't see them doing anymore than fighting for 2nd place with Carolina....I see the Bucs winning the South again and breaking the First to Worst trend with their top 5 defense and an upgraded O-line that will help their offense be more effective than last year.

JOHNSON WANTS TO BE OCHO CINCO, LEGALLY
Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson was fined $5,000 for wearing “Ocho Cinco” on the back of his jersey before a game in 2006.
To avoid getting fined, Johnson hasn’t done it since then. But Johnson now has a plan for how he can get away with having “Ocho Cinco” spelled out over the “85″ on his back.
We’ve learned that Johnson has taken the first steps in the state of Florida toward legally changing his last name to Ocho Cinco.
Seriously.
If Johnson follows through on this, his actual, legal name will be Chad Ocho Cinco, and the NFL would then (we assume) allow him to put his new last name on the back of his jersey.
From a business standpoint, this might be Chad’s way of picking up some of the extra cash that he wants to make but that the team has said it won’t give him. The jersey would instantly become one of the NFL’s top sellers, and NFL players get a cut of all sales of their jerseys.
In recent interviews, including one on ESPN Monday night, Johnson has made veiled references about future plans that he has said will change the way fans think about him. This is a strange one, to say the least.

Pennington getting most reps
The evidence that Chad Pennington is in fact the starting quarterback for the Dolphins continues to show itself during team practices. John Beck and Josh McCown continue to be bystanders during practice, according to the Orlando Sun-Sentinal. "What I have seen is, I've seen between spring and now, about over 500 throws," Tony Sparano told the paper. "I've seen an awful lot of them. I'm starting to get a pretty good picture one way or the other. I need to see, certainly more Chad Pennington."
Our View: Sparano seems to be playing off Pennington's current status. Coaches in the league knows what they have with Pennington, and a team isn't going to sit their starter on the sidelines during the heat of training camp to evaluate a backup. Pennington is the 'Phins starter Week 1 barring an injury.

Rex was a monster at Florida. However, Tebow is NOT the guy you want. Stafford from Georgia, Bradford from OKlahomah, even Painter at Purdue will be a lot better in the pros then Tebow.
That said, you also need a wr, and possibly rb depending on how Forte goes.
I personally wouldn't mind seeing the Bears draft Cullen Harper in the second, the fact that Stafford's never even completed 60% of his passes is slightly off putting.

John Beck-QB-Dolphins Aug. 14 - 11:40 am et
The Dolphins have been attempting to trade John Beck recently, and profootballtalk.com got an "unconfirmed tip" that Beck has been cut.
The Palm Beach Post reported that Beck practiced earlier Thursday, so he obviously was a member of the team then, and this report may be jumping the gun. Either way, it's clear the Parcells regime has little use for Beck, who turns 27 next week. He'll get a second chance, but his "prospect" status has dimmed considerably.

You should never remember the season to season records of preseason, unless your a hopless stat person, but if the COLTS keep some of these guys on the precut rosters man were going to be loaded. Then too we can't keep all of the guys who've had some good auditions, and that speaks to some of the guys other teams might get. We gota #3 QB-a big white dude who can run, but I don't think throws very well. I think he could start on another team, Hope we keep Quinn Gray-I think by the time he sees andy PT behind #18 he'll be too old, but the COLTS D seems pretty deep, I hope some of these cats make it.
The guy to watch is Mike Hart. Set Mich records and will surley make the team. We also go Dominik (sp) DUI Rhodes back from Oaktown. We could have a 3 RB tandey here...
reminds me of a song WHEN THE AFC SOUTH IS IN THE HOUSE/ OMG DANGA!!!

Well this is my first season with NFL network and I am enjoying these re-runs of preseason games... watching my Cowboys and they do not look impressive the least bit. The defense is stock piled with names but it still stinks... what's new? I never get crazy when it comes to preseason but I am looking at 10-6 or 11-5 if they are healthy. Probably the favored/trendy pick to get out of the NFC this year but I think we'll start off really slow. Probably going to get blown out in Clevland week one but it doesn't really matter if we start off slow. You'd prefer to get the division title and the bye and everything but I am hoping the team plays their best football in December for a change like a San Diego/Giants last year or Pittsburg when they won their Superbowl. It's a long season and homefield advantage is irrelevant these days with the exception of Foxboro.

As a Cowboys fan myself, I got bored with the game and ended up watching Michael Phelps make history in the Olympics.
But I am going to be cautious heading into the season.

Chad Johnson left Sunday night's preseason game against the Lions with a shoulder injury. The Bengals initially called him "questionable" to return.
However, it's unlikely they'll risk putting him back in because of the game's lack of importance. He left the field hunched over in pain and doctors tended to Chad's left shoulder on the sideline. We'll keep you updated.

Patriots looked freaking awful tonight. And I know it's preseason and what not but when the Bucs offense is looking like the second coming of the Montana/Bill Walsh 49er teams you know you are in trouble. I don't know how much production they can get out of those aging linbackers this year. You got aging safeties and a second year player who hasn't proven himself. Seymour or someone on that D-line is almost never 100% healthy in crunch time and their corner situation is a flat out joke. They'll be competitive as long as Brady, Welker, Moss are healthy but it's not like I am giving much insight on their team's prospects by saying that.

I went to a Thrashers game back in December, they were playing the Bruins, and during intermission they listed the top ten worst things a Boston fan could hear. #1 was Tom Brady suffers serious leg injury, could be career-threatening.
