To be honest it wouldnt surprise me at all if they go undefeated. The team has very few weakness and you can bet theyll be fixed. Some will say loss of Stallworth is a downgrade but anybodys whose seen Chad Jackson in action knows its not.

We'll get younger at linebacker with Oscar Lua healthy, free agents and the draft. We'll get another corner to help asante, and meriweather starting to play like a probowler.

Not only that, theres only a handful of teams capible of beating the Patriots anyway. Had Josh McDaniels not lost sight of the gameplan we woulda won it last night too.

Maroney had bad 1st half in all the playoff games, he just turns it on the 2nd gets into groves. But alas he needs to be on the field to do that.

We'll be fine. But now we have a reason to really kick da **** outta people other than just wanting to do it.

Chad Jackson was active for two games the entire year without a catch, what makes you think he is even going to contribute? Jackson has done nothing to impress me, back in 2006, when he had about a dozen catches.

There is no way in hell the Patriots go undefeated again during the regular season. They had one chance to make history.

Well, a lot of people hate the Patriots.

I hate them incredibly, and after last night's game, it was amazing to watch people's reactions.

It's a big "F*** YOU" to the NFL, who I'm pretty sure wanted a 19-0 season, and another big "F U" to Goodell, who destroyed tapings, etc. I loved last night's game.

Karma exists.

I dont really care about what hes done, I just care about what hes capible. Boston Globe had an article on him bout a month ago where there nothing but praise from Blelichik and his appearent mentor, Randy Moss.

All I know hes a 6'1 muscled dude who runs a 4.3 and had the best hands of his class. His catches in 2006 were no joke watch em on NFL.com; their usually some acrobatic leap or some **** and if hes on one end of the field and Wlker and Moss on the other, CJac aint gonna get **** attention paid to him.

I doubt Moss will come back unless he (shockingly) doesn't want money to be part of the picture.

Moss yesterday after the game:

"I wont break mr. krafts bank, for anybody else I will. Mr. Kraft, Mr. Pioli- sign me!"

Worst case scenario is hes franchised. Hell be back.

I don't agree. They are still the best team, but they lost a fair game yesterday. I would still take the patriots over the giants if they played again next week, as i'm sure most people would. It obviously won't be a 12-14 point spread, but i still think they are the better team. Having said that, Giants did the very thing every other team has tried to do, and they were successful when it counted. Other than 72 dolphins, everyone loses a game. It is extremely unfortunate that it had to be at the SB's expense. But they are much better than the 72 dolphins, and are still better than the Giants.

These are the opinions of a redskins' fan who has no "investment" in either team.

Can the patriots redeem themselves if they do pull off a superbowl next season?

I don't think they can even if they are the superbowl champs next year with 18-1 or 17-2. Its unfortunate that anything short of a winning a superbowl is considered a failure, it seems like they have set the bar even higher to do it with a 19-0 season to fully redeem last night. Man, talk about setting the bar high.

All that matters is the SB, the Patiots had an 18-0 record and failed to win. The only game that matters and the only game people will even remember is the superbowl. The Patriots in the end, were over rated. 18-0 is impressive, but take into account all those close/lucky wins, it doesn't mean anything unless they soundly won every single game.

I said all season undefeated, while awesome, nasty, sick, great, ect. is really only a testement to the teams you play. Winning the super bowl is a testement to how good you are. Relax. If you read my quote earlier, i said Giants beat Patriots fair and square. They beat them, and they are the champs. No one is taking that away from them. But i still think that the patriots are the better team. Using your arguements, pats beat all those people also, and jacksonville, steelers, colts, chargers, and the giants, cowboys. Patroits didn't mess up. They lost a football game.

Here's a hypothetical: if the ravens would have won against the pats during their close game, would you consider them the better team? I wouldn't think so. I'm a redskins FAn to the bone, but if they won last night against the patriots, I'd be jumping up and down, but patriots would still be the better team.

And the universe has realigned itself once again!! the Dark side of the force has been turned back for a third time in as many years! Twice, by the Jedi brothers Manning. The sacred trophy is safe once more.

But seriously, was it not poetic justice? Plaxico made the prediction and he made the winning catch ....RIGHT OVER THE PATRIOT LOGO!

I think the chickens came home to roost in that last 2-minute drive by the Giants. Eli and crew are not an offensive powerhouse by any stretch. But the Pat D really looked like they ran out of gas. 18 games straight....never resting your defensive starters....those "old" starters like "Senior Seau", Brusci.... even when they had 52-point leads. Never letting up.....trying to prove a point. Humiliating their opponents when they could....I think that Pats D just got tired. It's not like the Giants are dazzling by any means.

About the first part, i do agree that people hate them because of how good they are. They never trash-talked or anything. They were the MOST humble team i've ever seen. Spygate is a bad situation, but the players are as humble as you get. PEople hate them cause they are good, not because they are jerks.

I don't really agree with this part because, its' a competition, and these guys lost. End of story. Giants shouldn't feel pity and let them win because he was about to retire. If he had the intention of retiring, then he should, if it wasn't enough and he wants a ring, then he should stay. But you can't feel sorry for them. Its their job. They get paid, LOTS and LOTS of money. About the rookies, are you kidding?? To reach the big game is a HUGE accomplishment for them so early in their career, most veterans don't even get to experience it, i highly doubt it would be an unbearable emotion weight. You can't have your cake and eat it too. They're rookies, they'll get over it.

He cheated! Plain and simple. There was not this swell of pass coaches saying they did the same thing as you seem to have imagined. He cheated. He KNEW he was cheating. He did it anyway.

He runs up the score on team - putting his players in unnecessary risk.

But again - last night was further example of his complete lack of class. You DO NOT LEAVE THE GAME BEFORE ITS OVER. Moss was bashed for it years ago - but this is even worse than Randy Moss. A COACH IS SUPPOSE TO KNOW BETTER.

I don't hate them just because they were undefeated. That doesn't matter, really.

I was rooting for the rams that year. However, you can use the same argument here versus that. Giants ruined a "bigger" dynasty, but they won the football game when it mattered, just like the 2001 pats (this is assuming they didn't cheat). I really don't see Brady as being arrogant, i sorry. Brady and Moss are really humble, considering who they are. He was not scoffing at plaxico's guarantee win, but how he gave both teams a low score, considering it was 38-35 last time. He would have prefered 45-42 against them. Also, come on, you're telling me brady was the more arrogant one, even though it was in response to plaxico's guarantee win?

Excel

The dynasty didnt get ruined. 3 Super Bowl titles in 4 years, and undefeated regular season 3 seasons later?

If Brady wins another super bowl or 2 this will just turn into another accolade of his, that he all went 16-0.

Stallworth has an option for like 10 million next season the Pats obviously wont pick up because its 10 million bucks and that would make him a free agent...and its forgone conclusion by most that Moss is coming back...so I dont see the point of that post...

Nothing is a forgone conclusion. IF Moss comes back - your post is valid. If its not - the Patriots NEED to worry about WR since Wes Walker is not a Number 1.

Its easy to figure out how hell get playing time. Stallworth is gone and Gaffney is more than likely too. Kelly Washingtons the only guy infront of him and seeing as Jackson had all the physical tools I dont see why he wont get a shot.

This is his 2nd season; he was banging up all last year and tore his ACL against the colts last AFC Championship game.

Wide reciever is the last thing the Patriots need help at and this kid has all the physical tools to preform, thats all. I dont see Kelley Washington going over him, or any other guy they sign.

They might cut him too though, and restock themselves with free agents as they did this year, or they might draft one. Even if he does get more playing time I am not sure why you think this guy is all that good. You know how many guys there have been who looked good in a combine and at the college level who deflated on the big stage. I find it hilarious that people are hoping that the Patriots cheated. This rumor has been floating around for months and months and nothing has come of it. The commisioner of the NFL has said there is no evidence of cheating on the tapes he went through, granted not from 2001. However, some of you are getting hopeful based off one employees word, that is not enough evidence. If they did and real evidence comes out, then it's a disgrace. Until then.

As a Patriot fan I was pissed that there was cheating involved during the Jets game and the Patriots organization and Belichick deserved what they got. That being said they went 18-0 and lost by 3 points in the Super Bowl which just shows me that the team and their coach are just that damn good. Good is the key word though, the great team of the 2007 season is the NYG. The Patriots are #2 despite all the records, hoopla, and fanfare.

When I am watching a player perform on the field, a coach call plays on the sideline, or even an actor or actress in a movie, all I know and care about is their performance. I don't care if they are smoking beans or smuggling illegal fireworks into their town. I care about what happens between the lines. It doesn't matter to me if Belichick is a horrible interview or if he is mean to reporters. I care about what he does on the field. I respect Bill Belichick as a coach, but not as a man. I don't have to though. He is not my dad or my brother, nor is he my friend. He is a coach. So him taping another team, that upsets me. The walking of the field early thing, not so much, the Rams did it in 2001. Not a big deal. Him not wanting to be the coach of the Jets, that is a personal decision. Coach. Not man.

That Santa thing really needs to die already....it's not even entirely true.

If McNabb leaves it won't be anything us fans ever did...the guy has been injury 3 of the last 4 seasons. He is injury prone of late. We HAD to draft a future QB because at this rate he might not have to much left.
McNabb has gone on record that he wants to stay, and likely will unless the Eagles are blown away by some offer. The Eagles will never trade him to Chicago....they'll send him to the AFC if anywhere.

A mixture of pride and joy - and, let's face it, a day off work and school - sent New York Giants fans flocking to lower Manhattan on Tuesday for a ticker-tape parade to honor the Super Bowl heroes.

Nick Mascarelli, 12, a seventh-grader from Staten Island, arrived early for the midday parade with his mother, twin brother and friends. "It's great not going to school," conceded Nick, his face painted half red and half blue.

The parade will begin at the tip of lower Manhattan in Battery Park and proceed north on Broadway, going past the financial district and the site of the World Trade Center before finishing at City Hall Park. The stretch is known as the "Canyon of Heroes."

As the team assembled at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., for the bus ride into Manhattan, many players carried video cameras to record personal images of the parade, which was expected to draw upwards of 1 million fans.

"I still can't believe it," defensive end Michael Strahan said. "I'm still in some kind of shock."

The Giants last won the Super Bowl in 1991, and the last New York team to win a championship in any of the four major sports was the New York Yankees in 2000.

The Giants will be showered with some 50 tons of confetti, and Bloomberg will give team officials the key to the city after the parade.

All the while, New Yorkers will be casting their ballots for president. New York and the 23 other Super Tuesday states are holding primaries that could collectively seal the fates of the Democratic and Republican presidential candidates.

Just south of City Hall, politics and the parade crossed paths as signs for Democratic candidate Barack Obama were surrounded by fans wearing Giants red, white and blue.

The city had tons of shredded paper on hand for the parade, but some fans came prepared with toilet paper. An hour before the parade, several street lamps along Broadway were covered in streams of white tissue.

Justice Rodriguez, 11, of Brooklyn, was up at 3 a.m. with his father and half-dozen friends to secure a spot along Broadway complete with chairs, food and a camcorder.

"I want to see Eli Manning," said the boy, who wore a Manning No. 10 shirt over a puffy down jacket.

"It's exciting for him," said Justice's father, Juan Rodriguez, who took the day off from his car wash job. "You never know when they'll win again."

I am a huge Washington Redskins fan and I think in 2008 they will be alot better, with everything they went through this year and the distractions and injuries and the death of Sean Taylor I am surprised they made the playoffs.

But with Campbell & McIntosh back and healthy it will be a fun and improving year for the Skins... They could even post 10, maybe 11 wins

One thing that always bothers me is how the so called experts always dump on the NFC East and say what a weak division it is, funny thing is it's not. They play some rough and tough football and great defense. And 3 of the 4 NFC teams made the playoffs. One had the best record in the NFC (Cowboys) and the other won the Superbowl (Giants)

not in terms of championships, but both Charles Barkeley and Allen Iverson have done better with teams they went to after leaving Philly....Reggie White left the Eagles and went to the Packers
Reggie White:
Reggie White wasn'y driven out of town, he was beloved. We didn't have the money to sign White. Christ he's the only Eagle to have there own shrine at the new staduim. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/12398/reg.jpg
Iverson
Allen Iverson had nothing but off the court problems. Many around the NBA believed we held onto him to long. He quit on Mo Cheeks last year. The simple fact is Iverson didn't make anyone around him better. The fans knew he played his heart out, which is why he was always cheered. Every interview Iverson does, all he says is how much he loves the Philly fans.
Barkley
Barkely wanted out of Philly because management didn't make the team better. He wasn't driven out at all. Also I think people forget the amount of trouble Barkely got into with the fights and spitting on people but anyway, heres an article:
"Barkley spent eight seasons in Philadelphia, but the team's best showing during his tenure was in his first year, when the Sixers went 58-24 in the regular season and advanced all the way to the 1985 Eastern Conference Finals, where they lost to the Boston Celtics in five games. After several disappointing early-round playoff defeats, the Sixers failed to make the postseason in 1991–92 and Barkley wanted out of the City of Brotherly Love.

Barkley's time in Philly brought headlines and headaches. The incidents were many, such as the infamous spitting incident during a game against the New Jersey Nets where Barkley's expectorant, aimed at a heckler, landed on a young girl at the Meadowlands Arena."

Police have also found no connection between Grant and a pregnant woman who was shot and killed during the fight. Grant sustained only minor injuries and should be ready for the Saints' offseason conditioning program.

I didn't know it was possible to get stabbed in the neck and only sustain minor injuries. Was the knife or whatever made by Nerf?

Anyway, I'm glad it's not serious for him. The news about the woman is terrible.

Hahaha I almost forgot this...

When Plaxico caught the game-winner, I jumped up from the couch and screamed, "YEEESSS PLAXICO!!! OH MY GOD!!!". The family where I was watching the game at had a dog who was pretty spunky.

The dog went "RUF RUF RUFFF :cmad:" at me, and started to hump my leg.

That was funny.

No, no. Charles Grant's skin is nearly impervious to most commonly known metals and alloys. He was stabbed full force and barely sustained a scratch. That's how damn tough his skin is, son!

There's no way he shouldn't be near the league lead in sacks. Slacker.

Early Mock

http://nfldraft.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=763411

1. Miami (1-15)
The Pick: Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
The buzz: The Dolphins need a tough, talented leader to get them back to the playoffs. Bill Parcells will not hesitate to select a player like Ryan, who has proven skills and the intangibles necessary to play the game's most important position.
2. St. Louis (3-13)
The Pick: Chris Long, DE, Virginia
The buzz: The Rams will focus on both lines early in the draft, and Long would give them an impact defender and the ability to have a flexible front line.
x - 3. Atlanta (4-12)
The Pick: Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
The buzz: The Falcons must totally rebuild on each side of the ball, and Dorsey could be the safest selection of the entire draft.
x - 4. Oakland (4-12)
The Pick: Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas*
The buzz: Al Davis rarely passes on a star-caliber prospect despite bigger needs in other areas..
x - 5. Kansas City (4-12)
The Pick: Jake Long, OT, Michigan
The buzz: The Chiefs' once-great offensive line has struggled in recent seasons. Long would be a fine addition for a revamped unit.
6. N.Y. Jets (4-12)
The Pick: Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC
The buzz: The Jets want to add a playmaker on their front line, and Ellis has been outstanding for USC.
7. New England (From San Francisco (5-11))
The Pick: Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio State*
The buzz: The Patriots are looking for a young impact defender to add to their aging linebacker unit.
8. Baltimore (5-11)
The Pick: Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville
The buzz: The Ravens want one of the top two quarterbacks and may have to settle for Brohm at this spot.
9. Cincinnati (7-9)
The Pick: Kenny Phillips, FS, Miami*
The buzz: The Bengals defense gives up too many big passes, and Marvin Lewis needs a playmaker at free safety.
10. New Orleans (7-9)
The Pick: Keith Rivers, LB, USC
The buzz: The Saints defense is not at a playoff-caliber level, and Rivers would quickly help revamp this struggling unit.
11. Buffalo (7-9)
The Pick: Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma*
The buzz: The Bills wants to find a playmaker opposite Lee Evans so their young passers will have more than one option.
12. Denver (7-9)
The Pick: Reggie Smith, CB, Oklahoma*
The buzz: The Broncos secondary lacks talent and depth. Denver needs to address this unit early and often this April.
13. Carolina (7-9)
The Pick: Ryan Clady, OT, Boise St.*
The buzz: The Panthers offensive line would benefit from a top-flight tackle, especially on the left side.
14. Chicago (7-9)
The Pick: Calais Campbell, DE, Miami*
The buzz: The Bears are looking for help on both lines, though their free agency moves will dictate early draft selections.
15. Detroit (7-9)
The Pick: Gosder Cherilus, OT, Boston College
The buzz: The Lions must improve their pass protection in order to be considered legitimate playoff contenders.
16. Arizona (8-8)
The Pick: Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas*
The buzz: The Cardinals secondary needs another top cover man. Talib has the versatility to help in other areas as well.
17. Minnesota (8-8)
The Pick: DeSean Jackson, WR, California*
The buzz: The Vikings are looking for playmakers at wideout and in the return game, and Jackson could possibly fill both roles.
18. Houston (8-8)
The Pick: Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois*
The buzz: The Texans are looking to add a young feature back to give some balance to this offensive unit.
19. Philadelphia (8-8)
The Pick: Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida*
The buzz: The Eagles want pass rushers to solidify their front seven on defense. Harvey has proven effective against top-flight competition in the Southeastern Conference.
20. Tampa Bay (9-7)
The Pick: Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona
The buzz: The Buccaneers are looking to rebuild a playoff-caliber defense, especially at cornerback.
21. Washington (9-7)
The Pick: Quentin Groves, DE, Auburn
The buzz: The Redskins are hoping to draft into the strong defensive end class to find an impact pass rusher for their front four.
22. Dallas (from Cleveland (10-6))
The Pick: Mike Jenkins, CB, South Florida
The buzz: The Cowboys have big problems at receiver and cornerback that could be addressed with two first-round selections.
23. Pittsburgh (10-6)
The Pick: Jeff Otah, OT, Pittsburgh
The buzz: The Steelers will address their offensive line in this draft, and Otah is a tackle who carries a first-round grade.
24. Tennessee (10-6)
The Pick: Lawrence Jackson, DE, Southern Cal
The buzz: The Titans could face big defensive line losses in free agency. That makes this position a top priority in the draft.
25. Seattle (10-6)
The Pick: Jonathan Stewart, RB, Oregon*
The buzz: The Seahawks are searching for a young feature back because Shaun Alexander's production has slipped over recent seasons.
26. Jacksonville (11-5)
The Pick: Andre' Woodson, QB, Kentucky
The buzz: The Jaguars are looking to the future at this position, and they like a few prospects in this draft class.
27. San Diego (11-5)
The Pick: Kentwan Balmer, DT, North Carolina
The buzz: The Chargers could surprise here with a fast-rising prospect that fits well into their front three
28. Dallas (13-3)
The Pick: Mario Manningham, WR, Michigan*
The buzz: The Cowboys' receiving corps is thin and aging, and this position should be addressed early this April - possibly with more than one prospect.
29. San Francisco (From Indianapolis (13-3))
The Pick: James Hardy, WR, Indiana*
The buzz: The 49ers have neglected their weak receiving corps long enough. San Francisco needs another playmaker to help Alex Smith realize his potential.
30. Green Bay (13-3)
The Pick: Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas*
The buzz: The Packers will look to address their backfield early in this deep class. Jones would give them an impact weapon in several roles.
31. New England (16-0)
The Pick: Pick forfeited.
The Buzz: No first-round pick because of NFL sanctions following "Spygate" controversy.
32. NY Giants (10-6)
The Pick: Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy State
The buzz: The Big Blue defense is in search of another top-flight cover man opposite last year's top pick, Aaron Ross. McKelvin is also a dangerous return man.

Report: Williams heading to Jacksonville

Jacksonville radio station 1010XL is reporting that Gregg Williams has been hired by the Jaguars as defensive coordinator.

The decision isn't expected to be announced for another day, but the Jags have found a quality (though likely pricey) replacement for MIke Smith, who is now in Atlanta. Williams was once thought to be the favorite for the head coaching job in Washington, but the Redskins decided to pursue other options. Feb. 5 - 2:53 pm et
