Absolutely. I'm gonna try really hard to make up for what I didn't do with Red Hood and Aquaman, this time. I've been reading all of Ed Brubaker's run with Selina for the past weekend, so that definitely helped ease me into applying. :woot:

And regarding the Tommy Elliot thing, no need to worry, Cats. We picked and chose what continuity was for Season I during Season II, so Elliot being a doctor isn't really a big deal. J'onn could have easily taken the name and created a faux identity with it as it's basis only, rather than that Elliot being an actual person.

i really don't have the time to go back and read seasons 1 and 2, but i was wondering if anyone had done anything with the penguin yet?

Currently, Oswald is the Mayor of Gotham City, though he was just outed by Two-Face as The Penguin, who is a major drug dealer to the black market.

Bane stole Cobblepot's ledger a little while ago, which had names and numbers of all of the Penguin's underworld contacts. When I put him on hiatus, Bane had systematically taken out the pimps, pushers, and other street criminals from the dozens of smaller gangs to destabilize their organizations and their cash flow.

Well, the best advice I could give you is to write yourself a sample, to get a feel for if you'd enjoy writing the character. If you don't, it's not worth it. If you do, well... no one's going to stop you. If a controlling maniac like me can do it, then no one's going to lift a finger at the notion.

Personally, though, I've rather enjoyed reading the League posts this season. A strong foundation's being set up for the team - particularly now that JB, Spike, and Sensei have begun interacting.

I understand the appeal to want to play so many Gotham characters, because I know almost the entire RPG community are all huge Bat-fans. But there are so many other characters that are just as good that don't live in Gotham that we can bring into this universe.

I myself was thinking of picking up a Flash villain.

I know it's a huge frustration... to me aswell, given that I want to see the universe expand as far as the eye can see. But, again... no one should be forced to choose someone they don't want to play for the sake of that reason alone. Otherwise, we'd be setting up a rather crummy universe, given that everyone would be playing someone they don't want to play, and therefore, no real dedication would be made. At least with Bat-characters, apparently, some players are happy.

After I've done my arc with Two-Face, though, I'll gladly drop him for someone non-Batman oriented. I have quite a few in mind that have nothing to do with him.

Heh. You should've seen this place during Season I. Even people who had nothing to do with Batman spent half of their time in Gotham. It's specifically the reason I picked up Brainiac and Wonder Woman (aside from the fact that I also think they're criminally underrated characters who never get played)

I do love reading the Ultimate Gotham stuff, but I get how ya feel, BL. That's why us non-Gotham folks have gotta make our stuff just as entertaining.

At this point, I think nothing is canon. Most recently, Arthur Curry was aware of his abilities and lineage, but he hadn't gone to Atlantis yet. He was still living in Florida, surfing and acting like a normal twenty-something guy.

The latter caused Selina to grow up jaded against men - feeling that all men are inherently irresponsible, like her father was. Fortunately, Selina was removed from the situation by Ted Grant, better known as Wildcat. Ted acted like a stepfather - of sorts - giving Selina the attention and care that her biological parents neglected to give. Ted also trained Selina to defend herself. Selina used her abilities to participate in underground fighting rings - using the moniker 'The Cat' to honor Ted.

As she grew older, Selina drifted away from that lifestyle, but she remained a free spirit. Moving from place to place, never holding down a 'serious' job, Selina began a pursuit of fame and - more importantly - fortune. During the day, she pursed a career in acting and singing on stage, but at night, she learned the thrill of thievery. Eventually, Selina developed two dreams: to pull off the perfect heist and to make it on Broadway. A group of producers offered her the second. Unfortunately, they were only interested in her looks and 'favors.' Her one dream crushed, Selina focused her attention on the other. She was going to take what was rightfully hers.

Three Reasons Why You Have Chosen That Character:

1. Ultimate Catwoman has existed in a grand total of three posts, and one of them won't be in my continuity. Let's think about that for a moment. Three posts in as many seasons. Catwoman. A staple of the Batman universe. If there's ever been a character that needs to be played, it's her.

2. Hush, The Long Halloween, and Dark Victory. That's three reasons in one.

3. This is the perfect time to play Catwoman. Selina and Bruce haven't met yet. Catwoman is still walking the line. This is the point in her career when I'd most want to play her.

Sometimes, you need a good fight, y'know? There's something liberating about a fight. And while I could pick a fight with a security guard at some penthouse somewhere, there are too many variables. Besides, there's no guarantee he'll even be worth the time. Now, Batman? He's worth the time. But he's about as elusive as...well...I am. What to do, then?

Fight Club hit closer to home than you might have thought. It takes some searching, but one can find underground fighting rings - if one feels so inclined. I should know. I spent a majority of my high school career searching out these places. Once you've found a couple, you know exactly what to look for. From there, it's quite simple, really.

So that brings me to where I am now. And where I am now is in a sports bra and sweatpants, with my hair pulled back and my knuckles taped. Where I am now is a damp, dirty basement filled with bloody, sweaty men. Where I am now is home to me. And nothing makes you feel like home quite like cracking someone's nose with your fist. Of course, some people need...persuading.

"'Ey, chica, the beauty parlor is that way," the Hispanic calls out condescending, pointing to the staircase. He earns a few dumb chuckles from some of his meathead counterparts.

Putting my hands on my hips and cocking my head to the side, I reply, "Hey, if you're scared, that's fine."

"I ain't scared," he swears as he sticks out his chin. He glances out of the corner of his eyes at his buddies. "I just don't want you to break a nail." More ignorant laughter.

"I stay here long enough, and I'll break something," I admit. Folding my arms, I arch an eyebrow and ask, "So which limb do you care about least?"

Orin of Atlantis; Aquaman

Basic History Of The Character:
The original Atlanteans are long dead. When they disobeyed their God Poseidon, his punishment was bringing the Great Flood upon them. Once the cradle of civilization, the Golden Age of Atlantis died beneath the waves.

Atlantis was then populated by marine life who, due to centuries of us poluting the waters, were mutated. One mutation was humanoid and highly evolved, and this spread, creating Atlanteans as they are now. They found Atlantis, and mastered the ancient technologies there. Life in Atlantis was akin to that of barbaric tribes.

One of the Atlanteans whom called himself Kordax, brought the Atlanteans together. Uniting the savage tribes into one brought harmony amongst the diverse Atlanteans, but not to the Gods of the Sea. The sea nymphs acted as spies for Poseidon, taking a closer look at what had become of the lost civilization now that it had started to sprout and prosper once more.

Ideologies such as science, magic, and religion had truly began to improve within the colonies of Atlantis, starting with the new capital which was in Poseidon's name: Poseidonis. However, the Old God of the Sea did not take this news well, for the religions were starting to diversify and spread. The Gods whom which the Ancient Atlanteans used to worship, were now almost forgotten.

And so, Poseidon punished the Atlanteans once more. He rampaged through the city of Poseidonis, claiming their leader: the blonde haired Kordax. On that day, he laid a curse upon Kordax and all of his bloodline which would be distinguishable by their blonde hair. That very same day, Kordax was slain. Taken to the center of the city, tied up to one of the pillars, through Poseidon's demands the creatures of the sea ate at his flesh until Kordax died. All who witnessed this horrid day, forgot the ideologies Kordax and his campaign had brought forth. For they feared of his same punishment.

The curse became widely referred to as the Curse of Kordax. So feared, that the wife of Kordax--Cora--was forced to flee to the city. Little did the inhabitants of Poseidonis know however, Kordax's son laid in her womb. Scared and unsure who to turn to, Cora turned to the ancient aquatic titan Tethys. Tethys creates a pact with Cora, claiming that the creatures of the sea will forever guide and protect her family, as the titans touched the belly of Cora. A blue glow emanated afterwards, and Cora could feel something different: she was starting to feel hope for the survival of her son.

Cora dies giving birth to Kordax's son, his heir, Orin as was the price of making the deal with Tethys. But just as the titan Tethys promised her, the very ocean protected Orin as the baby grew up. When Orin grew to manhood, word spread across the waters about an Atlantean with blonde hair.

Orin travelled to Atlantis, finding the city of Poseidonis. He was not met with open arms, as the people immediately tried to kill him: for fear of what him and the Curse of Kordax would bring upon them. Upon his arrival a large Kraken attacked the city, and the citizens blamed Orin's arrival for their misfortune. However, this thought quickly faded away when Orin slained the Kraken with his bare hands.

From that day forth, Orin was a hero among the Atlantean people. However, that isn't to say that everyone was thrilled. Some still remain loyal to Poseidon and the other Gods of the Sea and most importantly...Poseidon's decree about the descendants of Kordax.

Three Reasons Why You Have Chosen That Character:

1. Ever since my portrayal of the Aquatic Ace in the fifth Season of the DC RPG, naturally I fell in love with the character. He is easily one of my top five favorite superheroes.

2. He has a rough history in the Ultimate DC RPG. And when I say this, I mean really rough. Constantly introduced with different writers and constantly changed. This will be the last retcon the Marine Marvel will need.

3. I have an idea for an Aquaman Movie and since obviously I will never type up a script for one or have it appear on the screens...perhaps I can reveal my idea through this RPG. I have a feeling it will be well received. The origin will be different than the movie idea I had, but not arc/plot I have planned.

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character As A Person (IE: How are you 'utlimizing' him or her?):
I am going to embrace the mythological and old folklore traits of the King of the Seven Seas and his realm. There will be a small reflection of one of Peter David's work with the Gods of the Ocean in my portrayal, but in my own way.

I can bring the character a stable, strong, foundation. Hopefully if I do not stick with the character, what I have done will stir enough interest for others to attempt to portray him.

Orin awakes his slumber, and in the process awakes his two 'guests' as he sits up on the edge of the bed. A woman's hand lays upon his shoulder, another wrapping around, locked on his arm. Orin found himself much more welcomed once he slayed the sea monster.

"Don't go, darling. The tides haven't even changed yet."

"Yes. Come back to bed."

Orin grunts as he pulls away from the two women, getting up from the bed. He walks up to the window, staring at the underwater city around him. The building was airtight, preventing the outside water from rushing in. It was the design of every building in Poseidonis.

But while it had become a comfort to some Atlanteans to remain dry if they wish, it would never be something Orin could get used to. He grew up with the waves of the ocean, swimming and playing as far as the eye could see. The entire ocean was to himself it seemed.

"Love?"

"Will you two shut up? I do not even know your names, yet you talk to me with such words of infactuation and you speak of myself as though I am your one, true, love."

Orin turns around, looking at the two women. There is sadness in their eyes, but Orin knows not to think of it much. They were simply 'loose' women who slept with the hero who killed the Kraken. They did not care for love, only for that fact.

Orin walks back over to the bed, and two women smile. However, their mood soon shifts as they see him begin to put his clothes and armor-scaled shirt and gauntlets back on. He doesn't even look back as he exits the bedroom, wishing to leave without interruption.

Yeah, seconded. Since I returned I noticed it spike back up. (Don't take that like it's cause of me this is moving :dry:) I mean, this thing is just a slower paced RPG. It's always been at this kind of pace.

This RPG has lasted for years, far before we even got a section for the RPG's themselves. That itself is testament to an immunity from dropping off the page. It's only when the players lose confidence that it becomes slower paced or going by a crawl. And I have a message for those players: Don't lose hope, because this won't die. Period.

Even if I'm the only one posting in it by the end of the year, I've got enough stuff planned for my characters to take it into the next few seasons. And it's going to reach that point.

Character You Would Like To Play: Barabra Gordon a.k.a. Batgirl

Basic History Of The Character: Barabra Gordon is the daughter of Jim Gordon, Gotham PD. Currently studying at Gotham University, she lives in student dorms but regularly pops home for a hot cooked meal. With a scholarship from the Luthorcorp Grant for Gifted Students she studies Criminal Psychology and Computer Programming.

She has always been a straight A student, and as well as being highly intelligent she is very athletic, being a member of Gymnastic and Martial Arts societies. Some have called her an overachiever and it has been suggested her constant need for achievement stems from trying to win the approval of her father, who as a devoted officer obsessed with his job didn't have much time for his family.

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character As A Person (IE: How are you 'utlimizing' him or her?): I'm going to start from the ground up with her, from student to (unwanted?) sidekick. I'm going to confront her juvinile hero-worship of Batman in a realistic way, and also bring her into her own as a hero.

Character Sample Post (Three Paragraphs And One Line Of Dialogue, At Minimum):
Barbara sat listlessly, running her hands over the stainless steel rims of the wheelchair, feeling the rough tread of the tires and gently moving them back and forth. It bumps into the whitewashed wall behind her, leaving little dints and black marks.

"Barbara Gordon?" A nurse appears with a clipboard in her arms and speaks her name into the air.

She stood quickly; the nurse noticed her and returned through the door she came from, holding it open for Barbara to follow. The wheelchair rocked gently behind her in the hospital hallway.

"Dr. Blake will be with you in a moment, you can wait in his room."

She knows the way and passes the nurse with minimal acknowledgement. The room is musty with old books and men's cologne, and she sits on the edge of the couch. It's not like a doctors office, starched white and sterile smelling. The plush leather chair and the book lined walls make it seem like a room in fancy house.

Dr. Blake hurries into the room, his arms full of papers. He barely seems to notice Barbara perched on the edge of his couch when he sits behind his desks, the papers scattering across it's surface as he drops them carelessly.

"So Barbara, how have you been this month then?" He only looks up at her as he finishes speaking, his bright eyes never still behind his spectacles.

"I've been good. Keeping myself busy mostly. Handed in my term paper early and the team have a gymnastics contest coming up so I've been scripting most of the routine. I think we have a shot at winning, too. So that's good." She fidgets while she speaks, perched delicately on the edge of the seat.

"That's all good Barbara. And what about your father? Will he be attending this competition?"

"Mmhhm...He’s busy. Crime doesn't sleep and all that. He doesn't care about some stupid competition..."

"We've discussed this before, haven't we Barbara?" The way he keeps repeating her name grates her nerves. "You can't project feelings into other people. Have you asked him if he would like to come?"

The discussion continues for another hour, her allotted time to talk about her insignificant problems. When she leaves she feels the same as before, incomplete.

Basic History Of The Character: Doused with an experimental chemical in a gang war he was caught up in, high school student Virgil Ovid Hawkins gained a variety of electromagnetic powers. By day, he's just a nerdy teenager who only has a handful of friends like Richie Foley, Rick Stone, Frieda Goren and Larry Wade, and constantly bullied by Francis Stone. But at night, he becomes the costumed crusader that fights crime in the city of Dakota known as Static.

Three Reasons Why You Have Chosen That Character:

1. Static is a cool character, and I like his stories alot. After watching the entire TV series, I got into the old books from the 90's, and he is now one of my favorite characters to read.

2. With the recent announcement that Static and the city of Dakota are now joining the DC Universe (and he's joining the Teen Titans), I saw ample oppurtunity to play Static in an RPG, moreso World of Heroes, but being that I play two characters that I love in that RPG, Master Bruce suggested I apply to play Static here, so not only can I portray him, but put my own spin on his universe.

3. Ultimate Teen Titans?

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character As A Person (IE: How are you 'utlimizing' him or her?): I guess instead of portraying him exactly like his comics or TV counterparts, I'm instead going to amalgating both aspects into one portrayal. For instance, not only is he going to be retaining his friends from the comics like Rick Stone and Frieda goren, but also his friend from the show, Richie Foley. And like the comics, Virgil will be more of an avid comic nerd than less like his TV Show version.

I'm sitting on a chair in Alfred Sanders home, staring at the door of his apartment waiting for him to come home. The revolver in my hand is cold. I can feel it beneath my gloves, the deep groves of the handle, the finely smoothed metal of the barrel. It all feels so familiar to me. Too familiar.

I'm so tired of this game. Cat and mouse. To be honest, it bores me. I get a call, I meet the contractor. We make a deal, I stalk target. Days later, I shoot target, go back to contractor, get money, and the process starts all over again. How repetitive.

Where is the adventure in this life? Where did it go? Did it dissapear, or is it me who's changed? Has it really been that long? Have I really become that out of touch with things? Or is it that I've become more desensitized to a point where even murder doesn't keep my attention?

As I think to myself, my concentration is suddenly broken by the sound of the lock on the door opening. I watch the handle turn intently, my attention finally focused. As the door slowly opens, I watch Mr. Sanders walk in the door. He's talking on his cell phone. How typical. He doesn't even notice me. I guess it's as good a time to do it as any. Just wait for him to close that door.

"Hello, Al." I say in a calm voice. "Why don't you have a seat?"

"W-Who are you?" He stammers, his phone dropping from his hand and falling to the ground. As his phone impacts the hard wood floors, it breaks into three large pieces. I smile beneath my mask and look up at him, waving my gun back and forth in front of him like a finger.

"Now, look at what you've done. I'll bet that was an important call."

"What do you want?" He asks as his body shakes.

"The same thing everyone in this world wants." I respond vaguely. "Money. And like most people, I'll do anything for it. Even murder."

"Hm. Congradulations. Someone give this man a prize. Was it the fact that I'm wearing a mask alone in your house waiting for you to return? Or possibly the gun with a silencer attachment in my hand?"

"Alright." I respond in a monotone. "Turn around and put your hands on your head. I'll tell you." The man complies without a complaint. He turns his back to me, and stares up at the ceiling, his hands gripping at the hair on his head. Poor guy. I almost feel bad for doing this.

"Well...who hired you?"

"Sorry, Al." I say raising the pistol, aiming the site at his heart. "Assassin's honor." I pull the trigger slowly, the loud click of the barrel shifting rings out loud for a second. Like the calm before the storm, I could sense a moment of pure silence, and then, BANG. The bullet fires from the gun and rips through his body. It penetrates the skin on his back, and makes its way through his torso until it reaches his heart. He drops to the ground like a sack of bricks.The bullet perfectly lodged itself in the upper cavity, and ripped through the inner walls. How do I know this? Because I planned it like that. And I never miss.

The beeping grew louder and more frantic as he slammed his foot down on the brake, the car coming to a grinding halt as if some invisible force was yanking it back. Gripping the door, Grant swung it open as hard as he could and stumbled out of the car in a hurry. Sweat dripped down his face as his bare feet touched the rough sand. The car wouldn't survive.

I pick a piece of lent off my blue vest as I walk down the aisles towards the counter. A man is standing there tapping his fingers against the glass case.

"Can I help you, sir?"

The man nods as I walk behind the counter.

"Yeah, I wanna buy a shotgun."

"You know there's a three day waiting period?"

"Shoot. Not in Texas."

"Well, this is California. Can I ask what you'll be needing it for?"

"I'm going to Arizona in two days. I'm going deer hunting."

My eyes light up, the small spark that's almost dormant ignites again.

"Could I interest you in purchasing a compound bow?"

"A bow and arrow? I'm killing serious game, not some little rabbit."

"With all due respect, sir. In the right hands, a bow and arrow is just as deadly, if not more, than any gun. Let me show you..."

I start to reach for the compound bow I keep under the counter when I hear it.

My hands stop, my eyes dart up to see my boss standing down the aisle.

A couple of things:

I'm in the process of trying to write up a summary of the history of the UDCU, for the front page. Everything essential before the game's timeline is figured out, but it's going to take alot of time to recap alot of the major beats from Seasons I and II, and probably twice that in simplifying it all. That's where I wouldn't mind some help. Any volunteers would be greatly appreciated.

I may also add a dead list and/or a character guide, for characters unretconned, linking to their first IC-post appearances or applications. The dead list wouldn't be very big at first, but I'm sure it could be useful in future seasons. The character guide, of course, would be more of a tool for people looking to see what's been done with a certain character, and how they've been ultimized.

Every character and every post on that list is in-continuity, so if you remember an earlier poster playing a certain character, that could be because their work was retconned. I'm also getting an NPC list up for it, for characters like Captain Cold and Connor Hawke - people who could be playable, but were introduced as NPC's and have never been actually played.

Characters currently being played will not be added until dropped. Characters picked up are subject to be removed. If I've missed a character so far, tell me, so I can add them. Unless you've played Aquaman before trusty, in which case your work isn't canonical. :o

It wouldn't be hard to say there are traces of opium and meth within the toxin, to weaken the nervous system (no pun intended). Maybe all of that testing got some of those substances into Crane's system.
