Character you would like to play: Dr. Jonothan Crane/The Scarecrow

Powers: While the Scarecrow posesses no "superhuman" abilities, he is known for his superior intelligence, as well as his profound credentials as a chemist and psychiatrist. He garbs himself in a simple, burlap sack (which also acts as a gas mask, to keep him from being exposed to his own toxin), to conceal his identity ; which is also used to create even more fear into those he sprays with his Fear Toxin, a hallucinogin that causes panic and fear into those that are exposed to it -- which basically causes them to face their worst phobias. When fighting, he usually uses a sort of "dancing" style, with a mix of kung fu (crane style) and drunken boxing.

Hero, Villain, or Walking The Line?: Villain.

Basic history of the character: Ultimate Scarecrow, like his mainstream DC Universe counterpart, is a member of the fictional Gotham City's rogues gallery, and one of the deadliest foes of Batman. Like his predecessor, The Scarecrow began his life as the meek and timid Johnathan Crane, a young man obsessed with fears and phobias, aswell as their power and grip over the human mind. This unnatural fascination has grown into a murderous hobby, as Crane has created and perfected a panic inducing toxin that is able to render virtually anyone fear stricken, succumbed to their deepest psychiatric phobias. In this universe, Crane starts off as the head psychiatrist at the Arkham Rehabilitational Institute, while secretly performing experiments on his patients to test his toxins. He ends up becoming The Scarecrow, soon after, and coming into conflict with the recently emerged Batman, thusly becoming the first costumed villain Batman ever faces in this universe.

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:

1. It'll be my first character in the DC RPG's.

2. I watched Batman Begins last night (5th or 6th time, I believe), and couldn't resist.

3. Fear is the mind killer!

What do you plan on doing with this character as a person? (IE: How are you 'utlimizing' him or her?): He's already been ultimized, but I plan on portraying him as more of a threat to Batman physically and mentally. I also plan on having him construct more gadgetry (gas bombs, etc.), as well as develop a formidable fighting style.

Please provide two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG (as a player): I'm going to bring (hopefully) good interaction with everyone in this RPG. I'll also portray a good, ultimized Scarecrow ; though I'm not genuinely too experienced with playing him.

Character sample post (Three paragraphs and one line of dialogue, at minimum):

Crane winced slightly at the pain shooting through his arm, after the Bat had twisted it violently. Also, there was the bleeding from the gunshot wounds from Black Mask, that had to be tended to immediately. Basically, the only thing keeping him conscious at the moment was the exposure of his own toxin, which he had grown attuned to.

The sound of sirens approached from outside, and the footsteps of the small squad of police rushed upstairs, finding a now, unmasked Doctor Crane lying on the floor. He looked up to them.

"Th-th-Sc-sc-Scarecrow.....sc-scarecrow...", he whispered to them as they rolled him over.

"CALL THE PARAMEDICS!", one of the officers shouted.

"Don't worry Dr. Crane, we'll have you outta' here in no time.."

Crane couldn't help but to grin slightly as he was pulled onto a stiff-board, being carried down to the ambulance below. The Scarecrow would return...in time.

Superman's had a number of very public fights with supervillains. He and Blackrock were helping paramedics with injured power plant workers in season 2, which would have left dozens of eyewitnesses and undoubtedly plenty of news footage. Both his fights with Neutron and Blackrock were very urban and left a lot of property damage (Blackrock was even taunting Superman through every television and computer in Metropolis). Heck, even the opening of this season has Superman cooperating with, and having a heated discussion with the police after fighting Bloodsport at the very scene of a bank robbery where Bloodsport was firing at cops (where there would have been hundreds of news and amateur videos recording the scene from countless angles).

What more should I do to give the impression of Superman's existence being public? :huh:

Honestly, I didn't think about the police encounter because Batman's had a heated argument with Gotham's Mayor and still remained a mythic figure up until this season, when he had to step in to prevent the big attack by Two-Face and co. But regardless, it's your call on whether Supes is public or not, so I edited accordingly.

MB, I fear for this RPG. We keep talking and talking about how it'll level it out. "We're just going through a dry spell. It'll pass." But nothing changes. Sure, we get occasional bumps, but it's hardly anything consistent. I realize that by dropping characters and not posting, I'm not doing anything to help the problem. Powers: Hal possesses a Green Lantern ring, which he can use to fly and build various hard light constructs powered by his will.

Basic history of the character: Hal Jordan suffered a tragic event when he learned of his father's death in a plane crash, but not only did this cause the young Harold to grieve, but it inspired him to become the best pilot in the Air Force until he disobeyed and beat up his commanding officer. He then found a job at Ferris Aircraft and moved up to test pilot, until he met the alien Abin Sur and was drafted into the intergalactic police force, the Green Lantern Corps. Now he is currently trapped in 'Earth 2' after a near fatal encounter with Despero, where he has rendevoused with Superman and Martian Manhunter after defeating his eveil doppleganger, the Impurity.

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:

1. After seeing MB and Sensei's Ultimate Hal, his character intrigues me moreso that regular Hal, and the chance to create a new Gren Lantern mythos is the chance of a lifetime.

2. This game is lacking some posting, so replacing Huntress with Hal might just get me and hopefully the game out of it's lag.

3. The Ultimate Justice League.

...and whether I like it or not, I'm part of the biggest interaglactic police force known to the cosmos...

As the ring glowed with a newfound rejuvenation, Hal summoned forth his uniform, which symbiotically covered his body thread by thread. It was then that an emerald mask covered his face, and a familiar aura lifted him from the ground and out into the night...

:"Jordan. Come in, Jordan.": his ring alerted him.

"What is it, Abin? More trouble on Xavin 4?"

:"No, Jordan, but there is a crisis on your homeworld towards the sea border. 23.7 miles north of your location.":

"Thanks for the info, Abin. I'm on it. Jordan out."

...and no matter how many brightest days and blackest nights I've had, nothing could've prepared me for this...

"You have got to be kidding me..."

Hal then followed the coordinates to the Coast City beach where a lone starfish limped across the sand.

"A starfish!? That's the threat!?!"

Then, right before his eyes, the starfish began to grow in size and one of the tentacles wrapped around Jordan's torso.

"Oh thanks for telling me that little tidbit now--OOOFF!!"

Like I was saying, my name is Hal Jordan, and in brightest day or blackest night, no evil's escaping my sight. And let those know that worship it's might, beware my power, the Green Lantern's light.

He was always the weakest link when compared to Batman and The Joker, but in the end, it just came down to a matter of wanting to explore other territories outside of the Ultimate Bat-mythos. Venom160's expressed an interest, so I'll leave him to apply for the reigns.

I'll throw up an app for a new character later. Probably a JSAer or a villain.

Sorry it took so long to finally get a Despero post up when you guys got us where we needed to be. This is why I was hoping to get this done months ago; I'm so busy now. :(

That said, I will probably have to drop Ultimate Aquaman after I establish him a little bit more. But at least him and Ultimate Atlantis are greatly established. If you check out the wiki page for Ultimate Aquaman and Ultimate Atlantis, there is a ton of information should anyone in the future want to pick him up. That was my main goal: to establish him with a firm foundation.

Basic history of the character: A crusading district attorney for the Gotham City justice system, Harvey "Apollo" Dent was horrifically scarred, both physically and mentally, when a mob attempt on his life ended up murdering his wife, Gilda, and burning half the side of his face. Unleashing a prolonged schitzophrenia, brought on by years of abuse by his mother at an early age, Harvey became a duality-obsessed murderer known as Two-Face. Tricking Batman into helping him find the killer of his wife, Harvey took his revenge, and renounced any sort of goodness left within him, becoming one of Batman's worst enemies.

2. I think I can add to the 'Ultimate DC Mythos' for the better, hopefully improving, individualizing, and setting apart the 'Ultimate' side from the traditional comics we often get barraged with no change.

3. I originally posted an application for Two-Face in the "World of Heroes" sign up, but have opted that I may want to shadow an established Role Player (Master Bruce) in order to get a hold of the ropes.

What do you plan on doing with this character as a person? (IE: How are you 'utlimizing' him or her?): Take the original Dick Grayson and, from his new origins being established now, into something less campy and more of his own character.

Please provide two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG (as a player): One of my future aspirations is to possibly be an author, so I plan on adding creative twists as a conflicted character that hopefully has some introspective actions. As I'll be 'shadowing' Master Bruce, you can also bet that his Batman will influence my Grayson, leading to an accurate display on what an ultimized Grayson would really be.

Right, well so far Dick isn't a Robin or Nightwing or sidekick of any type. His father's a member of the Untouchables (Gordon's personal squad of detectives) and is currently working with Batman to take down a mobster. Which means that he's being NPC'ed by MB. Which means Dick may not be available for some time. And I know that there's been a bit of interest in picking him up so far, so we'll have to turn to out glorious GM for revelations on that front. Spike is the only one who's played him. If I remember correctly, he came into Gotham discreetly and started taking control of some of the mob, with Bird, Zombie, and Trogg at his side. He's been studying Batman from afar, and just as recently as earlier this season, deduced that Bruce Wayne and Batman were the same man.

He doesn't use venom or have enhanced strength, he's ridiculously huge by his own making. I'd say he's pretty much Batman if he were evil.

I'd really like to get a move on it seeing as how all of their doubles have been encountered and defeated so far except for Superiorman. Don't want the guys to have to wait on us after they've approached Superiorman.

Also, for those who care, I added the last bit I think I will add to the page for Ultimate Atlantis (http://superherohyperpg.wetpaint.com/page/Atlantis). I tried to leave behind a good, somewhat detailed (but not so down to the point that it doesn't allow for self interpretation or creative imagination) description of the main locations and tribes to spark interest when I have to depart from the character.

I would like to keep on using The Atom and Giganta. I have been watching this thread off and on for about a month now, and it's a slower pace RPG which fits my schedule. That also means this will be the ONLY RPG I am in, because I have only really time for one.

I have a couple of ways to explain the absences of my characters. Giganta was off training at Luthor's request becaue she still needed some refinement in-order for him to use her effectively, and the Atom she began questioning herself and needed to come to grips with her powers.

But from what he could tell as he tried to feel the directiion the van was going, this wasn't the station. Also the fact that it was quite obviously a warehouse. The deputy grinned.

"So it seems we have the answer to the Question at long last!" he shouted. No one laughed. He frowned, and kicked out at the chair that Vic was sat on, knocking him onto the floor. He put his foot on the man's neck.

"You're a pain in the ass," he growled. Vic smiled, though the corrupt man couldn't see it through the mask.

Character You Would Like To Play: Slade Wilson/Deathstroke The Terminator

Basic History Of The Character:
Born in Texas and something of a trouble maker, Slade Wilson dropped out of school and joined the army at age 18. He became one of the most respected combatants in the military because of his skills. He's a meathuman, born with an enhanced healing factor as well as enhanced strength and agility. He signed up for a program to advance his mental capacity. It worked, and then some. Slade uses about 96% of his brain potential which makes him pretty much a genius, he's also been seen to have limited telekenisis. After uncovering a plot to copy his own DNA and mass produce super soldiers, Slade killed his superior officers and dissapeared. The next time anyone would see him would be Bruce Wayne, who trained with him along side Henri Ducard. Slade soon left Ducard after Bruce left. Both of them well trained, but both taking diffrent paths. While Bruce optioned to help the world through Batman, Slade optioned to help his wallet by becoming a mercenary.

His physical powers are all him, it's the goverment that messed with his head. He's as smart as his Earth 1 counter part. His telekenisis isn't powerful enough to say slam Superman up against the wall, but he can pick up and throw objects with his mind. Oh yeah, Slade also has both eyes, I'll pick the right time for him to lose his eye if at all.

The figure of Superman starts to walk towards Speedy, it changes shape as it walks.

"What do you think, Speedy? Do you want good ole GA to have some fun with?"

I turn away and head towards where I have Kid Flash held up.

"Oh, god. No...NO!"

I hear Speedy's clothes tear and her grunts to fight the Green Arrow hologram.

"Well, we'll let them have their fun, now I can have ours."

Kid Flash lays on the hard concrete, stripped down to nothing but his boxer shorts and unable to move.

"See, your speed is what makes you so deadly. But..."

I tap the clamp on the back of his neck.

"You apply pressure to the nerve bundle on your brain stem and you're nothing but a vegetable."

I pick him up a start to wrap barb wire around his whole body.

"Another thing you have going for you is your speed. You're not just fst with your legs, everything on you is fast. Including your ability to heal, but like everything else, it can be turned around to hurt you. Take this as an example."

I tie the barb wire tight and hook up a loop of barb wire around a hook attatched to a pulley. Speedy screams in the next room and a small chill runs down my spine.

"NO!! GOD!! GOD!!!"

"God won't help you here, whore! Now take it!!!"

I look over at Kid Flash and shurg my shoulders.

"What can I say? He's commited to his job."

I grab the pulley rope and start to lift Kid Flash into the air, the barb wire cuts into his body and blood starts to drip onto the floor.

"That's got to hurt. But what I have in store will hurt worse."

It only takes a minute for it to happen, his super healing kicks in and the skin starts to grow over and around the barb wire. It only takes a whole minute for every inch of barb wire to be covered up by the healing skin.

"Now the fun begins..."

I lift him down and lay him on the floor, I grab a hold of a small sliver of barb wire and pull as hard as I can, the wire tears his flesh and skin apart as it violently leaves his body. He winces in pain and I can see tears running down his cheek. The chunks of flesh and blood start to pool on the floor as I wrap the barb wire around his body again.

"Ready for another go?"

I take off my mask and wipe my brow, it's been a few hours since I started my torture session with Kid Flash. In the other room Speedy's voice is hoarse and tired from her hours of screaming and fighting.

Kid Flash finally passes out from the pain and I walk into the other room. Light is in the middle of having Batman and Robin have their way with Speedy.

"Alright, that's enough."

"No. I'm just getting started with her..."

I place my hand firmly on his shoulder and look him in the eyes.

"I said that's enough. We've had our fun with them, now it's time to go after someone else."

I hold up Kid Flash's Titans communicator and look at Light.

"Time to send out an emergency bulletin to our next target."

I pull out a tape recorder and hold it to the commincator as I press a button labled "SG"

"Hello?"

I press play on the tape recorder and Kid Flash's voice comes out.

"Kara."

"Bart?"

"Help."

I stop the tape recorder and shut off the communicator.

"Now we can have some real fun."

Character you would like to play: Ultimate Sinestro

Powers: Bestowed upon Sinestro is the intergalactic power ring worn by The Green Lantern Corps, considered to be the most powerful weapon in the universe. The ring allows mere thought to become reality in the form of any type of weapon, defensive shields, auras providing oxygen in even the deepest of space, aswell as a powerful energy of it's own. The ring also provides the capabilities of flight.

The ring is powered by pure willpower and imagination, and must be consistently charged with a designated Power Battery, transmitting energy from the Central Power Battery of Oa, the ring's planet of origin.

Hero, Villain, or Walking The Line?: For now, I'm just going to say 'Hero'. Though obviously, that's subject to change.

Basic history of the character: Born on the slave planet of Korugar, Sinestro and his people faced hardships across their entire world. They were overruled by fascist regime working for the intergalactic terrorist Imperiex, forcing many of Sinestro's own family into poverty and slavery. Young Sinestro would eventually grow to be apart of the rebellion, but his efforts were futile and short lived. That is, until the arrival of a Green Lantern Corpsman.

Fighting the rulers of Korugar under the designation of intergalactic peace, the Corpsman would sacrifice his own life to imprison the powerful leaders. Once the Corpsman's body was destroyed, Sinestro picked up the fallen ring... and was instantly chosen. Sinestro was to be The Green Lantern of his sector, trained by The Guardians of The Universe to become the first subject of the Ion power source. But Sinestro unexpectedly became one of the finest Green Lantern Corps in the universe before the Ion battery could be completed, eventually being offered his own rank as instructor to the Black Ops division.

Recently, once the Black Ops division disbanded, he has returned to active duty as Green Lantern of Korugar. But as his sector becomes increasingly controlled, The Guardians have a new task that awaits for him: The periled Earth, who's protector has mysteriously gone missing.

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:

1. Sinestro is a particularly tragic character because he was once everything that his rivals, Hal Jordan and the subsequent GL's, turned out to be. Add to the fact that he wields one of the most powerful weapons on his finger, and you've got a potentially huge threat to contend with.

2. In the past two years, I've really immersed myself into The Green Lantern mythology, quickly becoming a fan. And after playing, and burning out with Hal, I want to try and offer something else from the Ultimate GLC.

3. There were only a few DC characters that I felt comfortable with adding to my already hectic character list across the boards. But Sinestro's story is an exception, and one that I'm really excited to tell.

What do you plan on doing with this character as a person? (IE: How are you 'ultimizing' him or her?): Sinestro is generally portrayed as a pompous, arrogant, and deceitful person even before he's disgraced and turned into a villain. To me, that's not particularly interesting character, not to mention one worthy of a Green Lantern ring. So for this Sinestro, I want to try and present someone who is inherently good. Someone who actually is a real hero, and truly does believe in the system he works for. It makes his story all the more grand, as he slowly descends into the man he's fated to become.

Please provide two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG (as a player): I'm known for not being the most reliable poster on the boards, but I can say that this RPG is definitely where most of my focus is lent to. And with everything that's coming on the horizon, I expect to be spending alot of my time on the boards in this game, helping in any way I can to enrich it's quality.

"This council shall now come to order!"

There was a panic in the air of the planet Oa. And it did not go unrecognized. For days at a time, the subject would come up frequently between training sessions and off hours, even during patrols. The Green Lantern Corps were forged of the galaxy's bravest, indeed... but one thing that men without fear could almost universally fear was a threat they did not know.

And almost prophetically, that day had finally come.

"Lanterns of Oa, you have all been called here for a matter of grave urgency. Many of you remain aware of it still, but the subject has reached even our cabinet. And believe me when I say that The Guardians of The Universe do not take such matters lightly."

The Guardian speaking was Ganthet, perhaps the most respected member of the council of Oa. Whenever he would speak, no Corpsman in the universe would hesitate to listen. That is why, when they heard the distinct worry in his voice, it surprised many of the Green Lanterns in attendance. But unlike many of his peers and fellow Guardians, Ganthet was not afraid to feel. Lest show that he was capable.

"But for those who remain unaware, we shall provide you with enlightenment.", He continued, as a screen behind him formed, showing a distant planet that many did not even recognize. "What you see before you, my Corpsmen, is the designated Sector 2814. The planet Earth, of the Milky Way Galaxy. Though few of our officers have originated from such a place, in recent times, it has become a planet of great concern. The crime that plagues it's many forms of life has become exponential, so much so that we have been forced to assigned... no, entrusted many Corpsmen to it's protection."

Gathet held out his palm, as it began to glow with emerald energy. Before long, several faces began to pop up in the form of three-demensional file photographs.

"These are are the current Green Lanterns of Sector 2814. Guy Gardner, of the Black Ops division. John Stewart, a graduating trainee to be assigned to this designation soon. Kyle Rayner, current torchbearer of the Ion battery. And until most recently..."

The image faded, replaced by a new one. A face many of the Corps had come to recognize in recent months. "Harold Jordan, successor to the late Abin Sur."

Jordan's image quickly faded, as Ganthet stepped forth infront of the legions of galactic species that wielded the legendary ring of power.

"Many of you are aware of Jordan's promise. He was an officer that garnered many friends, aswell as the recommendations that led to his promotion. And while he was a sufficient warrior, it has become apparent that something grave has happened to Harold Jordan."

Many murmurs came from the crowd, to which Ganthet held up a hand, instructing their silence.

"There is much to be learned about his disappearance, but until then, Earth is left defenseless. Guy Gardner was recently stripped of his position and demoted for insubordination, while Kyle Rayner's position cannot be designation to one galaxy alone. And John Stewart is, of course, very skilled, but lacks the knowledge necessary to patrol his own Sector."

"So, whuh? Ya gonna stick some sorry poozer in Jordan's place 'til he turns up?", a ghastly being known as Kilowog asked.

"If he turns up.", the notoriously hotheaded Isamot Kol offered, with a hint of disgust. "Humans. I always knew we were wrong to trust them..."

"Perhaps that's a decision best left for The Guardians, Kol."

The lizard-like being turned, angry, only for his swelling temper to die down once he saw the Corpsman behind him. Sinestro of Korugar stared him down, both angered and disappointed, as his once-pupil quietly turned back around. Isamot Kol would gladly pick a fight with any Lantern in his sector... but he knew better than to challenge an officer with such skill as Sinestro. Ganthet nodded in approval of Sinestro's defense, before continuing.

"I know that there is much concern for the situation at hand. Some of you feel that the Corps as a whole are being targeted. But let me assure you... until such evidence presents itself, it is only Sector 2814's Lantern that remain in clear danger."

Ganthet looked up, as did the other Lanterns, as the ensignia of all Green Lantern Corps began to glow brightly. From the center of the plaque, a small object began to form from the energy. Until finally, a small ring was produced, glowing with life and floating directly into Ganthet's palm.

"This is why, my Lanterns, you have been called upon. Whosoever accepts the responsibility of this ring, in this chamber, shall also accept the responsibility of protecting Earth. It is unusual of us to request an outsider of the designated sector to assume this role, but Lantern Jordan, wherever he may be, must be succeeded."

Many murmurs came from the audience, as almost all of the officers began debating amongst themselves as to whether or not they could assume such a task. But only one stepped forward, clearly ready to take upon the challenge without regret or hesitation. Almost no one was surprised, as Ganthet smiled, seeing Sinestro float out from within the crowd and land before him.

"When I was given my ring, I swore to uphold all that is required of The Guardians. This time shall be no exception,", Sinestro began, before removing his own ring and placing it into Ganthet's other hand. "I accept the responsibility for Sector 2814."

"You are a most worthy candidate, Sin'estro of Korugar.", Ganthet praised, before his ring evaporated, making way for the new one. "If you are content with this decision, then speak the oath."

Sinestro held out his hand, as Ganthet gave him the ring. And without thought to the matter, he placed it on his finger, and raised it to the power battery that slowly glowed into existence.

"In brightest day, in blackest night...no evil shall escape my sight," He began, as his attire was overtaken with the ensemble green uniform of the Green Lanterns. "Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power..."

Well.... my idea was along the lines of:

Vril Dox being a human who works for the government and is bonded to a piece of alien tech they are investigating, making him a Brainiac, enhanced with 2.0 software.
He's still loyal to the boys at the pentagon, but endowed with an incredible capacity for thought and stratagem. The government tasks him with using this new ability to create a government agency that can monitor and counter perceived threats to the free world.
Logistical Enforcement & Geographical Isolation of Opposing Nations. L.E.G.I.O.N., a group designed to keep America American, the free world free, and keep the majority (non powered) safe. Think McCarthyism meets Ultimates meets Squadron Supreme.

I know that doesn't change the fact its early, but if you guys could keep me in mind for later on if you want an arc like this... I'm seeing the group as being along the lines of hunting down people with powers, but through a misunderstanding of the tech interface in Vril's head. So he sees it as doing the right thing.

Also my annacronym sucks. But it fits the word. Stupid words having specific letters in them. Bah.

I like that idea for the Legion. It'd ultimately be up to Andy C. for whether or not you could use Brainiac 2, since he created Brainiac 1, but otherwise it's a sound concept for the team, at least.

Next season, I want you to bring this up again for review. It's far too early right now, like Andy noted, but The JLA should hopefully be established in next season's time.

If you've got any suggestions for any one I could have a crack at, I'd be glad to hear it. Everyone I think of just seems a bit convoluted and hard to make ultimate. I.e. Booster Gold.

I've got an idea for ultimate dick grayson, which skips him being robin and kind of cuts Bruce out of his life with Batman being a mild inspiration to him in Bludhaven. So Ultimate Nightwing. I just can't' think of why he would call himself Nightwing with no outside influence like Superman to suggest it. *shrug* That again, would also depend on whoever is playing Batman not caring that I've pretty much ripped Dick Grayson out of their control. Then again, given the Ultimate tone, they might appreciate it :p

But me and a player that's taking up Grayson are going in a different direction with it (keeping Robin, but making him different), and hopefully, it'll start to pan out by next season.

Now, obviously some of those are out of the question (Booster and Legion), and other people are playing the main focus of two others (GL & GA), but basically if anyone has a suggestion from any of those books (maybe a side kick, or a hero that appeared some of the time) that would be possible for me to take on and flesh out into a solo character, I'd love to hear it.

I'm sure anyone from the GA books would be appreciated by Byrd. He's only established Ollie and the three kids (Conner, Mia, and Roy) so far.

For Green Lantern, obviously Hal and Sinestro are taken. I'd ask Blacklight about any other Corpsman (as I did with Sinestro), but all of the main Earth ones (Alan, John, Kyle, and Guy) have at least been referenced at one point or another. John is a trainee, Kyle is Ion for the moment, Alan used to be Sentiniel instead of Green Lantern - but retired, and Guy was taken where you left off of him and made into a member of the Black Ops division of Oa. They disbanded, leaving Guy in limbo for the moment.

All other Corps are pretty much blank on the slate.

The Justice Society's a bit complicated to explain. They were a team, but disbanded in the 70's, and only recently did Jay Garrick and Alan Scott try to reform it. Ted Grant, who helped train Bruce Wayne, was also a former member along with the current Black Canary's mother.

GA I'd probably want to be one of the Kids, but not sure. Ultimate Roy perhaps...

What characters do you speak of exactly? In my opinion, the fact that this RPG is called Ultimate DC, a variety of changes from Mainstream DC should be made to emphasize that. So for all you know, one of those players may be playable, you just gotta take a wide turn perhaps. The only one you've revealed interest for, is Dick Grayson but obviously there is a problem there you know of. But you have the right idea/formula; just apply it to someone else if need be.

Heck, Aquaman had been a cluster-f*** since the start of this game, and when I finally established him and gave him foundation (giving him the last retcon he should ever need) I made him EXTREMELY different to his Mainstream DC counterpart. The only true similarities are his powers.

Basic history of the character: The Creeper Ultimized: Jack Ryder had been working for a tabloid newspaper when he began covering the story of a man named Hannibal Lecter (hey, it's fantasy). Dr. Lecter had escaped Federal custody and was on the run from the FBI. Ryder felt that this subject would make his career if he could track him down for an interview...and he was right; be careful what you wish for.

After Ryder had asserted that Dr. Lecter was a practicing homosexual he drew the doctors' attention, which was his goal. What he hadn't considered was that Lecter might consider HIM to be an interesting interview...from a clinical standpoint. 'What would make a man strive to have his name forever connected to a cannibalistic serial-killer?' became the question.

Ryder had tracked Lecter to the jungles of Brazil. Lecter hadn't tried TOO hard to cover his tracks at this point...the US had no authority, nor extradition treaties, in this country. So, Ryder took the bait and began asking around about the Good Doctor.

One evening over dinner, a man joined him at his table. Lecter. Ryder found himself unable to move. His food had been drugged with a paralytic agent that left him unable to move...yet fully aware. He thus became a 'patient-study' subject for Lecter.

The Good Doctor studied his subject for nearly a full year, eventually deciding the world was a far more interesting place with Ryder and his 'sensationalistic' views a part of it. Besides, after all the psychotropic drugs Lecter had used on him, Ryder had become something of a disciple of Lecter's.

One morning Ryder awoke feeling perfectly normal. Lecter was gone, leaving only a jade talisman in Ryder's pocket...a talisman that curiously resembled a peyote button.....

The interesting ones...the REAL psycho's...were allowed to continue operating; the 'businessmen' who did things merely for money and prestige were not so lucky. Nick was a businessman.

"C'mon Ryder," he cried, "we can work something out!!"

"Ryder's stepped out," came the reply. "I'm the Creeper, and this interview is OVER."

"HAHAHAhahahahahahah!!!"

Nick Catalfamo's screams echoed into the night. His corpse was found three days later with a fork and steak knife shoved in each ear. His brain had gone missing.

I'm working on an application for the Martian Manhunter, what should I know?

He has the same set of powers, though he resides in Florida as a detective, and instead of cookies, he has an affinity for liquor. The Government (specifically, Manchester Black) figured him out to be a martian, and has blackmailed him into becoming an agent for their bureau by saying that they have proof that there is still life on Mars. Up until this season, he was recruiting other metahumans for a team that was going to end up being The Justice League. He had already recruited Flash and was on his way to seek out Superman.

Well, that sort of took a turn when he was sought out by Despero as one of the more powerful beings on the planet. He was sent to Earth-2, where he and the rest of the JLA are currently stuck until they figure out a way home. He defeated his own evil counterpart, a White Martian, and joined Superman and Green Lantern into finding the others.

Now, they're in Earth-2's Gotham, fighting a futuristic police force so they can save Batman from his counterpart.

So, yeah. Fun all around! :yay:

And to answer your question Harley, no, it's not too late to apply for other characters. But I think you need to cut back on using so many characters in the first place. Applying for another one is fine, and I'm cool with that, but NPCing so many others is beginning to become a bit of a problem. Other players still need the chance to introduce these characters as PC's.

For the record, I didn't have a problem with Black Canary or Batgirl because, technically, they had already been used and established. So using them is, while cautionary, still not against the rules. It's the others aside from Zatanna that I'm talking about.

Basic history of the character: Originally she was a Japanese woman who gained her powers from the gene bomb from the Invasion! crossover, but for obvious reasons, that origin has to be scrapped. So this Quiz will be a Japanese mutant.

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:

1. She is a genuinely original and interesting character with limitless possibilities.

2. Grant Morrison is, like all British writers, god.

3. Who doesn't love the Brotherhood of Dada?

What do you plan on doing with this character as a person? (IE: How are you 'utlimizing' him or her?): Hopefully offseting her ridiculous number of powers, I'm going to give her more phobias than just germaphobia. She'll also be afraid of Michael Jackson songs, Edgar Allan poetry, and maybe some more phobias that come up along the way. She was not very expanded to begin with (no real name,) so the ultimitization will be admittedly minor. Also, making her a solo character instead of part of a team should be interesting.

Please provide two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG (as a player): As soon as I enter a room, there are sure to be adverbs, semicolons, and parentheses galore (my english teachers hated me.) Perhaps more reasonably, I can bring RPGing experience.

Character sample post (Three paragraphs and one line of dialogue, at minimum): The Quiz looks at her surroundings. The **** of Gotham frightens her. She can almost fell it seep into her lungs. If not for her gas mask, she would go mad. If not for her gown that putrid mess would touch her. She shudders at the thought and continues walking, clinging to her gown.

A man nearby her sneezes. He thinks, "I would really like to listen to that Michael Jackson song..."

Before he can finish his thought, he spontaneously combusts.

The Quiz couldn't resist. No one expects the power to spontaneously combust...

No one.

She wonders if a date might take her mind off her surroundings. From around the wing Mercutio appears.

"If love be rough with you, be rough with love!" Mercutio yells to the world, without caring at all of it.


"Ooh... Mercutio! If only you weren't so... dirty." with a wave of her hand Mercutio vanishes. It dawns on her that all the world is her oyster. If only she weren't so afraid of it.

Powers: Super strength, blue plasma bolts, speed, flight and gloves grant blue force fields. Trained at martial arts and fencing.

Basic history of the character:

Lana's birth town was Smallville, but at the age of one, Lana was moved to Gotham with her mother and father. Lana grew up with childhood friend Rachel Dawes. Her father was a successful businessman at Queen Industries, earning lots of money. Lana had intense fencing and martial arts training at her boarding school.
The money he got and the experiments at Queen Industries soon went to her father's head and he became sick in the head. He tried to murder Lana and her mother but failed, thus being arrested. Lana used Robert Queen's "Prometheus" technology, which harnesses alien DNA to give an individual super-human abilities, on herself, so she could steal money and give to her Mother.

But she soon realized what she was doing wrong, after she gained thousands of Dollars and moved to Metropolis. She now works at the Daily Planet. She has recently gained the alias Nightwing.

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:

1. She's a cool character

2. I love how she's portrayed in comics and Smallville.

3. I think she needs more attention in the UDC

Lana Lang sat down onto her small chair, facing her desk. She carefully shifted aside a stack of papers and observed her computer screen. Lana typed away, until, she found what she was looking for.
"What!? 'Mysterious acts in Metropolis at Night re-occur'....wow, the Daily Star really does need a new writer" Lana muttered to herself. In the corner of her eye, Lana could see someone in the dark shadows. Lana thought she was meant to be alone. It's after closing time at the Daily Planet and Perry only allowed Lana to stay behind. Who could it be? Lana slowly got up, she turned herself around. Glaring at Lana, was a female, slender figure.


Lana decided to make the first move. She lunged forward, hands first. Lana and the dark figure slammed to the floor.
"Reveal yourself" Lana growled. Lana felt her hands round the person's neck. She suddenly felt a fool of herself. What if this person was the cleaner? Or another worker who Perry said they could stay behind? Lana climbed off the figure and leaned against the desk, cracking a nervous laugh.

[SIZE=2]The figure slowly got up, still in the shadows. Lana switched on a lamp which was placed on a nearby desk. The figure stepped forward. Lana tried to see who it was, considering half there face was in the shadows. Lana could make out the figure was a female person.

A chuckle was heard, a joyful one, not a sinister one. Lana seemed confused, she stepped forward, she felt like blasting the female with her powers....but that would expose her.

Rachel Dawes slowly walked towards Lana, grinning.

I'd be all for having Lana Lang show up. But there are a couple of very big continuity gaps, with Luthor in particular.

Lex in UDC continuity is in the same age range as Clark and Lana, so it'd be pretty difficult for her father to be part of a corporation that Lex didn't even own yet. Also, Luthor didn't have access to any kind of alien tech (let alone alien DNA) until the arrival of Brainiac, well after Superman's in-costume debut.

And I know the name Nightwing was originally lifted from the Superman mythos, but that's just begging for trouble from all the folks who are waiting for Dick Grayson to be introduced.

Cool concept, though you might want to scrunch the timeline a little bit--like, into a few months instead of years. From what I can remember, in this continuity there hadn't been any public superhumans before Superman, and that was only a year or two ago game-wise.

No, it's your bad. If you hadn't made Flash first, no one would have any reason to ignore it. :o

Also, I'm dropping Sinestro for the moment. I'm intent to take the character back up for his specific purpose in an arc that's coming up later down the line, but right now, it seems pointless for me to have him if I'm not going to post. And I just don't have the time for what his story requires. I may take up a different character in his place for the moment, but I'm not entirely sure who it would be.
