Maroni throws antacid into Dent's face. Anatcid is a base. :wow:

Antacid also doesn't burn your skin. It was clearly a wrongly marked bottle.

Lol, you do realize that what he throw on Dent's face wasn't his real medicine, right? He put acid into his medicine bottle. After what that stuff did to his face, I can't imagne they'd sell that stuff for human consumption.

Good choice.

We've probably lost a great choice for Angel (if there were ever an X-Men reboot), but he's a damn fine actor to play Harvey Dent.

I did not know such a little bottle could contain such a giant fountain of acid as depicted in that comic.

Eckhart would've made a horrible Angel. :o

He's naturally (I'm assuming) blonde, has the look of a millionaire playboy, is pretty suave and if you've seen Thank You for Smoking can be cocky and over-his-head. Aaron's a great actor and could play him well.

That's why I said a reboot. Every character would be restarted in a sense, which could allow Angel to be much older as he should.

I just relish at how Nolan will pull off Two-Face ... I mean, if he draws inspiration from THE LONG HALLOWEEN, which he already has in a way and we all know he will more for the third installment, and with Eckhart in the role ... I mean, man, I am looking forward to Nolan's portrayal of The Joker immensely, but something tells me he is going to absolutely NAIL Two-Face, and not in that way. ;)

Two-Face is one of the most complex, introverted, well-developed of Batman's Rogue Gallery and if Nolan develops Dent's relationship with Bruce/Batman like we all know he will, and nails Dent's crusader purpose ... I think we're all in for one hellueva characterization of one of Batman's most iconic baddies.

And with The Joker ... damn, we're in good hands.

What I especially like about Eckhart as Dent (aside from the fact that he's a good actor), is that he's also good looking. I'm hoping he shows some sense of slight vanity, so that when his face is taken from him, it's all the more painful - physically and mentally. And we, the audience, have to feel that pain.

I've ALWAYS confused Thomas Jane to Aaron Eckhart. For the longest time I was convinced that Thomas Jane starred in the Core. :)

Oh, and I don't know how to feel about this casting choice. On the one hand I'm glad we FINALLY know. On the other hand most of Eckhart's roles have been, well, pretty wimpy. :) The traditional good guy. In Neil LaBute's In the Company Of Men, Eckhart played a very sleazy businessman taking advantage of a trusting blind secretary, and forcing his naive associate to go along with it. THAT character was definitely not a nice guy. Even in The Black Dahlia, a very disappointing movie, he played a conflicted cop, shades of grey, not just a traditional good guy, and was the best thing in it. I have no doubts he can pull it off.

I can dig this casting.

He has a sort of "righteous indignation" look behind him, so when he's in pursuit for criminals as Harvey Dent it will be believable plus he's a solid actor.

It's going to be ineresting to see his transformation into 2 face. I wonder has he ever protrayed anyone physchotic?

I've never seen In the company of men but... I can't believe my main complaint about Aaron Eckhart is "he's too much of a nice guy". :)

On the other hand, he seems very intelligent so hopefully he'll have a good raport with the fanbase. I prefer him over Edward Norton or Jamie Foxx anyway. I was really not seeing Foxx in the role.

Arkard

The only way to see Jamie Foxx as Harey Dent is to undergo a long and costly process, consisting mostly of every-month lobotomies, while listening to pop music, finishing with a healthy diet of pure industrial lead.

Jamie Foxx is an awesome actor look at Collateral, Miami Vice, Ray, and Dreamgirls in all four he plays 4 distinctly different characters, so please don't belittle him due to this own personal likes and dislikes. As for Edward Norton he rocks too but I don't see him in this type of role.

Im not as jazzed as i would be if it was PHEONIX DAMMIT or NORTON DAMMIT or even DAMON DAMMIT but Aaron Eckhart is a good settle.

I'm confused though. Since Damon is closer to Bale's age, I was assuming that Dent and Wayne would be old friends from princeton(just a feeling i had) but now they went with someone who looks considerably older than Bale. I wonder if they are tweaking Dents story now that Eckhart is cast?

The movie is so deep now

Maggie Gyllenhaal easily replaces the weakest link from BB, and now there with Dent solidified with a great talent, there is no reason I can't hail this movie my most anticipated movie for 2008, and probably tied, or a little behind AWE for most anticipated movie period

This is great news. Now has anyone heard if they still plan on having the Penguin and is Hoffman still up for it?

i hope not penguin here, with two villiams is enough, ir it would be in danger to become a batman and robin/spiderman 3 carnaval
with two main villians is enough

Very pleased about this casting. MaggieG too if true. Y'know if RachelD's screentime is indeed short and her dress/style/hair's the same as BB a lot of folk who aint hardcore won't notice the change.
Gonna have to get ahold of some Ekhart movies, only saw a little of 'In the company of men' when it was on tv, he played bad well from what i saw. They've got a great big face to experiment with the two-face make-up, the guy was born for this, and as HDent he's big enough to stand toe to toe with Batman in an argument.

Slightly off-topic, but does anyone notice a resemblance of Aaron Eckhart to Sean Bean? They could play fraternal twins, IMO...

If I did an X-Men reboot, I'd consider Sean Bean as a Magneto candidate...and yes, in some pictures Bean and Eckhart have slight similarities.

Just heard about the news and I am definitely very pleased about this. So pleased that I almost jumped out of the window to do somersaults. Eckhart is a great choice. I can almost easily see him in the part. Had different actor choices in my mind before I saw the news though, but he's not a bad consolation prize. I don't think there's anyone I'd be happier to see fill the role than him. Also ecstatic to see that Freeman will be returning. The cast is nearly set.

Okay, boys and girls, been out of the loop for a while so what's this about Maggie Gyllenhall being cast?

Eckheart certainly looks the part, but I've only seen him in Paycheck playing generic friend turned bad guy and wasn't moved. What's he like?

On the one hand, you praise pop culture's current IT boy with Foxx and denounce current sultry IT girl with Jolie? Way to destroy your credibility with one sentence.

As for Eckhart...he's a fantastic choice. He's a great actor. He can take his cocky character from In the Company of Men and just build upon that.

har har at least i have some god damn humility i know my opinion doesnt matter but it is just that... MY OPINION

i said i think eckhart is a fine actor i just do not dig him as dent

there is such a thing as being a good actor and sucking in the role

look at tommy lee jones in the same role

i know it wont be that campy and it probably wasnt jones's fault at all but just an example

so yeah eckhart good actor but bad cast in my opinion

is he better than jamie foxx or josh lucas MY GOD YES!

just not anything like i imagined

so lay off being a dick...

Too right. I'm looking foward to posting in that thread when it happens.

God created the Universe from the little divot he carved out of Eckhart's chin.

How is that possible, you ask, since the Universe clearly pre-dates Eckhart's chin? The answer is that God is Michael Caine, and therefore is all-powerful.

Also, Eckhart's chin existed before time began. It simply took a few billion years for God to see fit to unveil it.

:D

Oh, God, where is Norm? NORM!!! Get your ass to the Hype! and start that thread...

It seems to me to be a casting out of desperation with filming jus around the corner eckhart is certainly not the first choice for dent. the casting is solid but nothing more eckhart doesnt have the x factor as an actor he reminds me of thomas jane (the guy in punisher) good looking, a decent actor but not a great one he has been mentioned here but not seroiusly considered among the more talented actors mentioned in the early days of casting spectulation (Washinton, terrence howard, ed norton, viggo morteson, etc) I am personally dissappointed with the casting but ill keep an open mind till after the movie.

My personal choice for Dent/2Face was Liev Schreiber, he looks like the character drawings in "The Long Halloween" to me (he doesn't look like Dent exactly, but something about him makes me think about the drawings in that novel)
I think Eckhart should be able to pull off an excellent job of playing Dent/Two-Face. He's a good actor, and he has a "dark comic movie" look (if that makes any sense) Either way, we have some casting news, so I'm happy about that. Honestly, I'm kind of shocked at how EARLY in the process the film is...and fans are going kwazy about it.... we still have more than a year's waiting time. I'm not knocking anyone for it... hell, I'm a fan myself, and I love the creative side of the movie-making process. I bet Nolan didn't count on leaving such an impact on the "Bat-Community" (or can I say Bat-munity?)... :)

Foxx would have been a horrible choice. I was actually glad Damon turned it down...he has become a bit to overexposed IMO. He is in too many films and he practically acts the same way. Norton would have been cool though....but Eckhart has more of the physical features of Dent. I'm sure Eckhart will surprise us. He was good in Suspect Zero, Black Dahlia, The Core, Erin Brokovich

Gilda could always just be a "blink and you'll miss it" cameo like Gordon's wife and kid in BB.

Why do people want his hair dyed? It's not really a big requirement.

newwaveboy87

not necessarily. he could just have one of the characters, probably Dent or Dawes say that some of the characters had been captured. it'd take less time away from the plot than actually having to show Scarecrow in a gratuitous cameo that has no purpose.

because people want the character to look exactly like the comic counterparts. duh.

even though Pfeiffer as Kyle and Basinger as Vale both being blonde while their characters had black and red hair didn't affect the movies at all. neither did Jean's constantly changing red colored hair in the X-Men movies. or Franco and Dafoe having brunette hair instead of auburn in the Spidey films. or Molina's dark brown almost black instead of brown.

and Lucius is slightly older than he is in the comics and animated series.

there's really no point in dying his hair. it's not important to the character. it's pretty rare that something like that is. the ones that come to mind have it in a strange color...like Polaris, Storm, Psylocke, Joker, Ivy (when she has the vine hair), Rogue, Livewire, and so on.

A quote from Mr. Eckhart himself:

Eckhart Confirms Dent Role
Author: Jett (http://www.superherohype.com/forums/bio_jett.html)
Saturday, February 17, 2007 - 5:00 PM CENTRAL TIME: Aaron Eckhart himself has confirmed that he is indeed Harvey Dent, allegedly:
“I've been reading the site for a long time and have wanted to write something, but I've never been lucky enough to actually have any news. As you might have guessed, I'm now writing because I do.
If you're looking for confirmation, Mr. Eckhart recently was the special guest at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for region eight. Almost at the very beginning of his presentation, he specifically stated that he was cast as ‘Harvey Dent/Two-Face.’ He has a ‘strong sense of where he wants to go’ with the character, he says, and he doesn't really see himself as a villain. He wants the audience to understand why it is that he does what he does.
It sounded great to me. I made sure to shoot this off to you at BOF the first chance I got, since it's obviously relevant. Anyway, keep up the great work on the site!”
Thanks to "The Dark Knight Also Acts" for the info...

The quotes sound great, if they´re true. Anyway, the HP and Variety reports pretty much made his casting official. "In final talks" is Hollywood slang for "he´s got the part, they´re just sorting out contract details, schedule, etc."

Scully? I see her more as Sarah Essen but it would be good casting. She's a good actress.

Batman/Bruce
Alfred

Lucius Fox
The Joker
DA Harvey Dent
A.DA Rachel Dawes
Black Mask (maybe)

Maybe Scarecrow??

Middle of the road choice. Neither good nor bad. Indifferent.

I know i wanted Phoenix more than anyone, as i think he is the best choice and a FAR better one than Eckhart.

However, i will back Eckhart and reserve judgement until i see the film. Which 2 yrs away :csad:

I like the quote that eckhart sees dent/twoface not as a villain i want to be sympathetic to his condition and angry at his acts of violene in equal measures its an amazing balancing act, probably more so then the joker performance but i still cant see eckhart pulling it off acting wise.

Agree completley Damiean, Harvey has charisma and lot's of it. Then when he get's scarred he has to be a very a dark, ambiguous character. Judging from Eckharts look and body of work, he just doesn't have what it takes to do Harvey Dent full justice. He will be solid, imo, but not reach the characters potential. Phoenix can do all this with his eyes closed, as we see in all his work, especially Walk the Line.

We will see in 2008 though i guess.

but despite him acting like himself...there's still something about him that makes you accept that he's actually the character he's playing. just like former Batman, George Clooney. he got a bad rep for Batman, but he continues to prove himself to be a talented actor despite injecting his personality into every role he plays.

DeNiro, Freeman, Walkan, Pacino, and Nicholson have only turned into variations of the same character since the mid-to-late 80s when they got too old and replaced by the new crop. if you go before that you'll see a rich tapestry of performances from each of them.

It's good to have Eckhart confirmed for Dent. I actually just saw Breach and that film finally convinced me that Phillipe could've been an incredible Harvey Dent (the trailer for Fracture also made Gosling out to be another solid "What If?"), but I digress.

It's nice to be able to put aside the casting of the character we KNEW was going to show up and start focusing on the casting of characters who we probably don't even KNOW are in this thing!

Like alot of other people, I had my favourites concerning this particular role, but I have to say that when the news broke that Aaron was cast as Dent, I wasnt initially scratching my head like I was with the Ledger as The Joker announcement. But ultimately, I feel that both will be great in their respective roles. I have very little doubt that they won't be. With Nolan's direction, no worries as far as I am concerned.

Norton as Riddler is a fantastic casting choice. Glad Foxx isn't anywhere near Dent.

they could make Norton Mr. Freeze...

and yes, they could make Mr Freeze fir into a storyline...

he could be a crazy Dr. who cryogenically freezes people and uses them for experiments to save his wife...

creating an ad lib with the actual storyline....
