Who is saying that mass murders are actually mass in of them self? Not everyone reported actually does anything just has suspicious activity. It would probably discourage kids from displaying signs of their frustration. Also from my experience it is mostly a cry for help and gets treated very seriously.
Also I should have said probably and it wouldn't have gotten you in such an argumentative mood; though I think you are just combing everything I say with a fine tooth come and getting ready to pounce.
I was wrong and based an assumption off ignorance; though I am not writing a thesis or turning this in so (shrug) oh well.
No, I was just wondering how you know that there are a small minority of well-educated students out there who want to, like, just kill everyone in sight.
Nothing more, nothing less.

well we all have our assumptions right?
i mean i can honestly say theres gonna be another case of a husband whos gonna kill his wife for whatever reason this year, is that a safe assumption
it happens pretty much all the time, a sad truth
Mr. Superhero
03-02-2008, 07:32 AM
Well why is it so absurd to believe?
Because it's pretty unheard of. Teenagers don't think like that -- it wouldn't even cross as well-educated students mind, and the figures back this up.
It's like comparing a small minority of students to Patrick Bateman...

Well I have gotten that far but learned to manage it. I just have different outlets to vent my frustration. Drawing, paint ball and video games to just name a few. Is it really hard to believe that I think like that just don't act on it? And not all murderers consider it; could be an act of passion. Who knows what their mind state is at the time but it certainly isn't pre-meditative.

Anyone can create a conceptual murder in their mind -- it's not unusual. When we are angry at someone, we often think: "Oh, why can't he just die?"
Even I have had that feeling, but according to CaptainClown, if you provided him with a gun at THE WRONG TIME, then he would CONSIDER using it. He would let his fantasies of murder play into his decision.
Kind of creepy.

You wouldn't consider it? There is no skin head or gang member around where you live terrorizing your neighborhood? You never specified who I would consider killing. If you said my next door neighbor then no I wouldn't consider it. Now if you said the 18th street gang, then yes I would consider it.

I don't think I can sympathize because there is nothing about what he did that should be praised. I could empathize with him though because I could try and put myself in his shoes. Well, it's not hard to relate to for someone like you, because you also shed the same fantasies as he had. If someone handed you a gun, then you would be faced with the same temptations that he faced.
Yeah, he was angry; yeah, he had something of a mental problem; but that doesn't make the act relatable. Because he could have done other things to vent his anger, but he chose to kill people, which is something that is completely unrelatable, except for you, of coarse.

No, I just can't grasp the idea of how someone can "relate" to such an incident. It's totally unrelatable and represents nothing but more evil. Yet, here you are, issuing how relatable the matter is, because he had a little brain fart.
The guy was a complete and utter f*****g idiot. How is that relatable? Please, explain.
dude, havn't you ever hated some one? wanted to beat the hell out of a person? None of us are innocent and while i'm sure no one would agree that the shootings were something to be admired, surly you can feel sorry for a guy and wonder what drove him from those lesser feelings we all share to something as extreme as murder.

I can't really feel sorry for a guy like that, and I can't understand why he did it, then again I didn't live his life, neither did any other person.

Happy Race Day, everybody!
So I know I'm waaaaay late on this, but I saw the discussion about school shootings earlier and thought I'd post this.
http://www.wtopnews.com/index.php?nid=600&sid=1355701
"Members of Students for Concealed Carry on Campus will join two General Assembly legislators Monday for a news conference.Delegate Robert G. Marshall, R-Manassas, and Delegate C. Todd Gilbert, R-Woodstock, have introduced bills that would allow faculty, staff and students to carry concealed handguns on college campuses with a valid Virginia concealed-carry permit."
Check out the link if you'd like to read the whole story. There are also several articles on this issue here:

God effin' damn I leave for 7 hours to continue fighting my cold with sleep and I miss an exciting debate! Bugger.
I gave up with the last 3 pages though, so I shall drag up old posts instead. :oldrazz:
well we all have our assumptions right?
i mean i can honestly say theres gonna be another case of a husband whos gonna kill his wife for whatever reason this year, is that a safe assumption
it happens pretty much all the time, a sad truth
It does happen, but at least it wasn't random. Domestic violence is an example of a severe lack of anger management and a slight instance of psychopath.
im going to have to take captains side on this, i feel its totally normal for everyone, of all demographics to have the thoughts or fantasies of murder, its whether we choose to act on those thoughts that is the deciding factor for people.
Is it? Have we surveyed the general population on this?
I fantasize about hurting people sometimes, but emotionally or mentally, not by brute force. I've never fantasized about killing people. Ever. Although, I do fantasize about getting close to it with murderers, rapists, and abusers.
I guess my main question to CC is, do you have control over your fantasies because you know you'll face legal consequences, or because you know it's wrong to actually hurt people?
I hear you keep a picture of him in your wallet, and a poster in your bedroom.
enough of this talk of murder, here's a cute cat
