you are about to receive more information than you want:

technos japan released games for NES which, in america, included super dodge ball and river city ransom. these particular sprites are from RCR, but all the games had the same style.

so i take RCR sprites and edit them in a program called gamemaker. it's a program for making simple computer games, but it has an in-program paint-like program that is simple, but it allows you to edit pixel by pixel, making editting old 8-bit sprites really simple (GM can be downloaded at yoyogames.com for free)

i also animate them in gamemaker but fix the timing for the frames in ulead gif animator.

so, basically i'm editting river city ransom sprites.

which limits me because i can only have my characters do actions that were in the old kunio-kun games (named for the main character kunio) but that's cool cause i'm creative ^_^

so yeah, that's basically it. then i change the hair, and facial expression, add props and all that.

well i do have the sprite sheets. but i had never thought about editting sprites until i made this game for my friend. and then i thought it was fun.

since these sprites are so small, it's easier just to edit them in GM. photoshop for example, doesn't use solid single pixels. there's a lot more of a fine touch in photoshop. know what i mean? GM you can just like show this grid if you want and see each little pixel in the image and it's just easier on tiny images like this.

maybe editting like street fighter alpha sprites or something would be better in photoshop, but i'm really not that good, so i stick to really simple sprites. plus. i love the kunio-kun style. it's cute and badass at the same time.

LOL yeah, I think if I were to actually write anything, it would have to be a script since my grasp of the English language ain't "pretty" enough for prose.

My best friend writes really short vignettes, and I love them since she's got a Neil Gaiman-thing going on sometimes. It would be totally awesome if she could get them all together into a novel or even a short story, but they're just pieces that she doesn't know what to do with (or most likely doesn't have the time to figure it out). It's sad too since she's in law school and she might be in the wrong career. :csad: Ah, the pressures of being the daughter of conservative Asian parents. I'm glad my parents are letting me be the "failure" of the family. :oldrazz:

Yeah in this day and age of the Internet, you don't have to go pimping yourself out to publishers to actually get published. The science itself is important, but the details of what they're doing aren't.

I was actually pretty impressed with how The Fountain treated science. Some parts of it were obviously dramatized, but it made sense for the most part. I shouldn't have been surprised since Darren Aronofsky works with a former neuroscientist. :cwink:

Parts of it worked better in graphic novel format (they had to cut the film's budget so the big set pieces had to be cut back) but the film handled the climax better. The book made a few leaps of logic that didn't convince me.

It is a gorgeous movie. And the trailer for it is the only trailer so far to actually make me cry. :o
