I know a guy that was about to close on one of the destroyed lofts that you saw on the news. Luckily, he hadn't closed yet and ended up getting a different loft in the same building for much less than the purchase price of his original one.

I also have a friend that lives right near the CNN Center and took some pictures of the damage early Saturday morning. Downtown Atlanta was an f-ing mess. We're lucky more people weren't injured/killed.

Naw man. I'm right at the Lawrenceville/Suwanee border. I mean, the roads didn't freeze or anything, but the temperature got below freezing (28 I believe) and messed up the plants. Oh, well. My fault for not covering them.

And I read about the softball-sized (3-1/2") hail. Hope your car was parked under something.

Yeah, next time a tornado comes, I'll make sure I'm in a retail store. May as well score some free swag for your troubles, right?

C. Lee came in here and dropped some knowledge on us.

In accordance with his statements - which were meant to be obvious and read between the lines - I bring a debate to the courts that has yet to be discussed.

More of a discussion, really.

Earlier in the week, Mrvlknight21 sent me an email stating the uplifting qualities of Batman and his quest against crime. The email was linked with an article from a fitness magazine. The article was written on the stance that Batman gives hope to all reader - on the form of fitness. One man - a human being - can make a difference in himself and the people around him. He is not a god; he is not an alien with unearthly powers; he was not granted a magic gift that wields him powers from the cosmos.

He trains daily. He pushes his mind, body, and soul to the limits. He sets goals and obtains them. He refuses to quit, even in the face of adversity. He is a man - like you and me.

So does Batman give you hope? Tell us your stories. Step outside of the 'box' that C. Lee so gracefully spoke of, speak not of "hey, dude, what's up, boobies, and random thoughts that make no benefit."

Discuss, if you will, of the adversities you face and how the idea that is Batman has helped you.

I'll go first.

Beside the fact that Bruce pushes himself to the limit and is that of an Olympic athlete, he also pushes his mind to the limit. In short, the idea that is Batman is one of the many driving forces behind me returning to college and not leaving with anything less than a Masters Degree.

What say you?

I like the idea that one man can make a difference, no matter how small it may be. I mean, Batman IS a very well-known figure in Gotham, but he's fighting an almost useless war against crime. It'll surely never end, but he still does it.

I believe it's inspirational in the sense that he becomes one of the greatest heroes in his world of aliens and superpowers even though he has no super powers. He strives to be greater than all of them, and succeeds.

And if you take that and apply that to life, you can do the same. No, there are no aliens or superpowers in our world, but there are people that always seem to have more than you. And if you vow to overcome that and be better than them one day (in the same way Batman does), it can be achieved. It can be inspirational in that sense.

Stormy, I like where you're going. Batman has always been an inspiration to me, in the way that he fights for what he believes in, maximizes his resources and struggles with his own demons, but always overcomes them.

Bruce Wayne could easily live the playboy life, spend his loot, drive his fancy cars, and bed a different beautiful woman every day of the week. He chooses instead to fight for his city, for the citizens of Gotham. I'd like to think I'd do the same in his situation...

How does this affect us as humans? Of course, none of us are billionaires - but we could loosely spend our lives.

I could spend hours, days, weeks, and months on anything and everything Jason - applying this to my life - I give back.

I could easily throw it away. My determination, through the idea that is Batman, helps theses causes.

Obviously, Bruce's gift is much more than financial. He gives of his time, his energy, his spirit, his physical and mental well-being. That's one of the great lessons learned in the pew on Sunday morning. How to give of one's self completely.

Just a busy little bee. Fired a guy at work, so I've been pulling double duty. Going back to school in the summer, so I've been doing lots of reading and writing (Journalism/Sports Communication major) in preparation for my triumphant return to Academia. And it's election season, so I've been reading a lot and frequently discussing politics.

Combine work, school (preparation), girlfriend, housework, and my fantasy baseball and NASCAR leagues, and I feel like I have about 5 full-time jobs. Like Damon Wayans's Jamaican character on In Living Color.

Warren Buffet is a penny-pinching old coot, but only of himself. He lives in the same tiny house he's always lived in, and drives the same old car he's always driven. And I don't think he's giving huge amounts of money to his children's inheritances either. I think that's really cool. :word:

Bill Gates splurges on things, sure, but he's given SO much money to various causes that I really can't hate on him or Micro$oft.

Compared to that, and a lot of other people, I don't do a lot of humanitarian work at all. I sponsor a little girl in the Philippines through a charity though, and I am aware of current events around the world. So I guess that's a start.

Not everyone can do hardcore humanitarian work, but everyone can do a little bit.

Word. But I'm working to change that. Got a new band, pumped out two new songs, both own, and I'm gonna do it this time. Wish me luck.

I wish you much luck.

My friend's band is almost on the verge of being signed, but their drummer totally kicks much ass (toured as En Vogue's drummer in Europe) and has other offers, and if they lose him, they lose a big piece of the band. Kinda sucks, but them's the breaks, I guess.

Ok guys gather round, I was trying to say it like Bat was makin it up about being the lead guitarist.......it was a joke, but then I put the "or maybe not" at the end, thus adding more sarcasm.

Baically it was a very sarcastic and back-handed compliment.

If you want an un-inspected male groupie, then by-all-means dont let me get in your way, I'm just saying I aint checking any dudes so you'll be putting your life into your own hands.

Speaking of groupies in general here, do some people automatically see a male groupie as a bit of a stalker? Especially if the object of his fascination is female?

But there have been lots of extremely bothersome female stalkers, so this is just a stereotype. "Male = potentially more dangerous when obsessed", basically. Meh.

Obsessed women can be very, very scary. Like at conventions.

Also, are guys really so weirded out when they have man groupies? :yay: Is this a big deal, a comfort issue or something?

It's fascinating how much media coverage the two get. Wow. At least in the States (not NEARLY so much in Europe, they hardly report on them). If only the media backed out a little, the girls wouldn't be in the spotlight so much and hopefully there would be less creepy stalkers (and I mean real stalkers here, not nice fans).

But that would only happen in a perfect world, eh? I have such crazy ideas! :cwink:
