There should be a thread to list toy sightings, reviews and discussion pertaining only to the figures. THIS is that thread. If you have some of the figures, post pics or something, dang.

Which are you going to get?
I'm going to get Black Suit Spiderman if I can find him, regular red and blue Spiderman and probably Venom, and any of the other villains that look good.

I checked my Target and all they had were the sad remains of some old hammer-fist Sandmans from Spiderman 3, so I bought Spiderman 3 for the Wii cause I had a boner for buying something Spiderman related. If they ever put out the good versions of the Venom and Ock figures, I'll get both of them.

You know, when action figures stepped up from the $5 range to the $7-8 that came with an incredible increase in articulation and detail. Whats the excuse for these being $10? Man, if I gotta get a job to buy all these toys I might as well just use the money to buy sex from girls..

I kinda feel the same way. The Spider-man figures(red/blue and black suit)look alright, but Ock and Venom need alot of work. I saw Venom at Toy R' Us today and he looks much better on the back of the package. He has alot more teeth and his suit is black, but the toy itself has a blue appearance to it and the mouth doesn't look as impressive.

Does anyone else hope that weel get a new Mysterio figure and at last perhaps a Hammerhead figure ?
Hammerhead could have been made for the 90's show but nope he never made it.
He had a few eps but Spot had one and he was produced.

I'm contractually obligated to get the Lizard of course. :)
I notice that Venom has four fingers on each hand and two toes on each foot, which makes me wonder if Lizzy will be given his correct number of 5 fingers and 5 toes. Hopefully the toy will look much better than the Killer Croc figure from The Batman (http://www.mwctoys.com/REVIEW_022006a.htm).

I GOT ALL OF SERIES 1 YESTERDAY,:D:up: DOC OCK AND VENOM LOOK OK, BUT THE PROTOTYPES ON THE BACK OF THE PACKAGE LOOK BETTER!!!:o I THINK THERE ARE AT LEAST TWO REASONS WHY THEY WENT WITH THE FINAL LOOK, 1) PARENTS WILL BE BUYING THESE FOR SMALL CHILDREN SO THEY GAVE THE FIGURES KID FRIENDLY FACES:rolleyes: AND 2)THE FACES THEY HAVE(AT LEAST DOC OCK'S ANYWAYS) LOOKS MORE LIKE THE WAY HE LOOKS ON THE SHOW THEN THE PROTOTYPE!!!;) I CAN'T WAIT FOR SATURDAY!!!:applaud

Sometimes I wish they would release the villans from the first episodes in the first wave of figures. These figures look good next to my X-Men Evolution stuff. They don't look to bad with my "The Batman" stuff also considering most of "The Batman" stuff is out of scale anyway so it wont really matter. I have always supported "The Batman" from the start and I plan to do the same with The Spectacular Spider-Man.

Actually, you'd be surprised. Even though they were terribly out of scale with Toy Biz's releases (which was just a marketing move, IMO), the Spidey 3 toys offered better articulation for a lower price. The Spectacular toys are made for youngsters and slapped with a price tag for parents who don't care to pay $10 for one figure if it means keeping little Billy from throwing a tantrum on TRU's floor.

I just picked up Venom and regular red/blue Spider-man at my local Sacramento Target. They had one of each figure, tho. Doc Ock (looked lame), Black Spidey (wrong costume - no webbing like the cartoon has), "parachute" Spidey w/ Peter head (lame), Spidey with web (I got this one) and Venom (metallic blue shimmer and odd "missing tooth" grin).
EXPENSIVE tho. $10.
Articulation on Venom is HORRIBLE. Barely a cut above a McFarlane toy. Shoulders move, legs move at the him, head spins, and waist has "super punch" action. Toy looks beautiful tho (I'm a HUGE Venom fan, so I'm quite biased)
Articulation on Spidey is much better, but no ankle or wrist movement (limits spidey-type poses TREMENDOUSLY) and head only moves side-to-side, so no looking up or down (again major limits w/ posing)
Major plus for me: This is the first time (outside the Marvel Select Diamond series) that Venom and Spidey are properly to scale. Venom is HUGE.

I thought I'd bump this thread.
Anyway I bought two of these figures, Spider-Man and Doc Ock. Their not that bad, not a lot of articulation, but great quality and detail. Their really solid figures and absolutely no painting mistakes. One of Doc Ocks tentacles is broken though, it's just hanging by a thread, but a bit of super glue can fix that problem!
But overall I'd give them a B+

The Sandman one is the only one that looks must-have. Nothing exaggerated, nothing out-of-character.
That Spider-Armor figure...it's just one step above the "Ninja Clan Spider-Man" figure with sword-swinging action, one step below the "Mutated Werewolf/Weregorilla Spider-Man" figure with glow in the dark ass-cheeks.

I don't think that chest piece comes off, I've seen it done with other Spidey figures. Probably best ot buy the regular Spidey or the zipline Spidey with the Peter Parker head, since they are both the same sculpts.

The Target by my house has put all of the figures from the show on clearance. I don't know if they're doing a recall because of the vast difference between some of the figures and their actual appearances on the show or what. They sell for $9.99 and they were on clearance for $6.38 so I picked up a few for a friend of mine.
I hope they release a better Venom, Ock, and Symbiote Spidey because those look NOTHING like they do in the show.

0neDisturbedSOB
05-07-2008, 01:05 PM
Yeah man I totally agree. Paying $9.99 for those things is WAY too much for me on principal alone. It wasn't too long ago when they were $6.99 which to me is fairly reasonable, but $9.99 is a rip off. I shelled out $30+ to get the 3 different armors for the Iron Man figures to collect, but still that was too much.
Not to mention the quality of figures has gone WAY down too.
I'd pay $9.99 for a McFarlane figure, but not for one of the Spider-Man ones. Especially when they're not even accurate to the show.
Spider-ManHero12
05-07-2008, 02:35 PM
I do agree that $9.99 is too much. A few years ago, figures were about $6.00.
0neDisturbedSOB
05-07-2008, 02:44 PM
$5.99 is a fair price for an action figure. Especially one that looks nothing like the character in the show. $9.99 is just asking for your line to end up in the clearance bin.
I wonder if they'll re-do the series 1 figures and make them look more like they do in the show? Spider-Man was the only one that was accurate.

Going out today to buy whatever figure I can from the show. I shelled out twenty dollars for The Dark Knight action figures. Why not this?

Clearance? so soon? That's odd.
well most kids if given the choice between a figure that looks like it could be a real person, and one that looks like a super stylized person will usually take the normal one

If they weren't $9.99 I'd pick up a Spidey because I like the style of the show, and at least that figure resembles his animated counterpart, but like I said before, $9.99 is just ridiculous for a figure like that.
I'm hoping they re-do the first series so they're accurate.

Not sure who it was but someboy complained about how in the S-M movie trilogy series the blac suit spidey figure with the wall ahnging web was all black instead of half black half red like the picturehttp://images.entertainmentearth.com//AUTOIMAGES/HMV69414Alg.jpg
well fear no more because my prediction came true, there are 2 different versions : one that is all black and one that is half black half red(I wen to Target recently and i saw the figure. and i don't think it is an exclusive since it didn't have the Target sticker on it)
anyways for whoever wondered about that i though i would just share the good news.

They don't look like that in his final design. The toys were probably based on earlier revisions of the designs.

Got Sandman in the mail today. Awesome figure. In my opinion this is the best Spidey toyline. So what are your guesses for the 16 scheduled toys for this year? Currently I have them all except for the gray Armor Spidey.
1. Spidey
2. Unmasked Spidey
3. Venom
4. Ock
5. GG
6. Grey Armor Spidey
7. Black Suity Spidey
That leaves us with nine more toys. I hope we get Black Cat, Rhino, Lizard, Shocker, Electro, and Vulture this year. That's six toys there. We'll probably get 3 more Spidey's.

I'm gonna pick up a basic Spidey soon cause I realized I haven't bought a Spider-Man figure in a long, long time and the ones hanging from my ceiling are getting lonely. I actually kind of prefer the Venom that's out now over the one on the back of the box. The one on the box looks like a reject from Spawn. The Sandman and GG are awesome too. I'll definitely get a GG when it comes out and have him chasing Spidey across my ceiling.
