No joke, gonna be sweet:
http://www.idwpublishing.com/solicit/april08/TF_Movie_Sequel_1A.jpg
The official continuation of the blockbuster TRANSFORMERS movie begins here! When MEGATRON falls in battle, STARSCREAM assumes the role of DECEPTICON leader on Earth. Mustering his surviving allies, he sets out to put his own plan in motion. But before he can do that, he’ll need to retrieve a fallen comrade, carry out a plan of revenge, and leave the Earth to meet up with a major player in the DECEPTICON army. Picking up where the film ended, “The Reign of Starscream” also reveals the fates of other surviving film characters, as co-writers Chris Ryall (Transformers Movie Prequel) and Chris Mowry present a tale of intrigue, betrayal, and dark ambition featuring both old and all-new TRANSFORMERS characters. Featuring art from fan-favorite illustrator Alex Milne (Transformers Movie Adaptation) and covers by Milne and Gabriel Rodriguez (Locke & Key).
I can't wait. I hope this really builds up the sequal for a StarScream lead...wouldn't mind seeing someone else in charge of the deciptcons...This rendition of Starscream (used in the movies) is pretty freaking awesome.

Is this gonna tie into TF2 in anyway, or will it be independant of the TF2 story to come? In other words could this be the TF2 prequel......

Think of it as an unofficial prequel for TF2. The writers said that it would connect the two movies together without having any impact on them both.

I have posted this before but nobody will discuss it.
This is probably stupid but I think I know why SS didn't get much screen time... He's huge, he is just as big as Megs if not bigger. I have group pic (that I can't seem to post right now) some of you may have seen, it has all the autobots(from the movie), barricade and Starscream, all of them in vehicle mode. Anyway starscream takes up almost as much space as the three bigger autobots all together do.
The only autobot that would even stand a chance against him would be OP and that just wouldn't look right with SS easily being twice the mass of OP. Even OP would have a hell of a time handeling him.
I'm not really going anywhere with this, I just wanted to get the idea out there and see what inteligent people might have to say about it. My point I guess is, how would they justify starscream not just destroying any autobot he went one on one with, when he is 2X their size

I think the reason we didn't get a lot of Starscream is because they were saving him for TF2 to get most screen time. Starscream is massive but that doesn't mean he can't have battles. Ratchet and Iron Hide did put up fight until SS took off for the Allspark. Starscream should be getting a good bit of screentime in TF2.

Here, I'm finally able to post it. This is a cool pick but its kinda weird, All the Autobots and Starscream. Why didn't they just put all the transformers in it. Any way you can see how big he is compared to all the autobots. I think we will see him battling a lot more in Tf2 but I don't see him getting in any one on one fights where its just him against one autobot unless there is a bigger autobot like Magnus. I could see Bumblebee charging up to him to fight and starscream just punting him away. My argument holds no merrit because there is no telling what will happen. Its purley for discussion that I bring this up

That's an awesome picture. The thing about Starscream, when he transforms is he gets wider not neccessarly taller as where Prime and the rest do. I can see Prime taking him on in a one and one fight. Can't see a TF like Jazz going against him, Jazz was so weak compared to Megatron.

Umm, guys, this sounds allot like the leaked script... Remember that? Starscream assuming command, putting his own plan into motion. Megatron will obviously be reserected by Soundwave, but I hope that Starscream doesn't get killed off when Megatron returns. They should never kill Starscream, Prime or Megatron is this series. The best 3 characters in the mythology.

Well maybe not now, but dying is a typical mythological habit in the franchise. Megatron wouldn't be Megatron without returning from the dead and reducing Starscream or Shockwave to slag to show them who's boss: and Prime is a self-sacrificing messiac figure.
AVEITWITHJAMON

Your theory is interesting, but I think Jazz would have been able to put up a fight, or at least would have been brace enough to stand and fight him. It seemed Starscream was afraid of Megatron, so Jazz wouldnt be afraid to face SS.
But seeing as Jazz has been confirmed as dead, there is only really Ultra Magnus who could stand up to Starscream, and that is one battle i would love to see.
I speak metaphorically. In most continuities, Shockwave fights to the last stand before the apocalypse (Unicron usually) comes. Starscream usually becomes a ghost or zombie.

No the main bad guy in Stormbringer is Bludgeon, the Soundwave Spotlight kind of connects the plot started in Shockwave Spotlight to the events of Stormbringer. The seeds of destruction Shockwave planted in Prehistoric Earth for the future is a great story and well written. It isn't greatly important to know what happens in Stormbringer as it's main plot is a stand alone to the Infultraion/Escalation/Devastation saga's but the events does connect the two and add some back story. I highly recommend reading it anyway.

I'm hoping that Megatron doesn't kill Starscream, assuming that he takes over leadership of the Decepticons. The reason being that we would never really get to see the relationship between those two on screen, aside from their brief exchange in TF1. I'd rather Megatron just beat the crap out SS to the point of near death or Starscream manages gets away again.
The Megatron/Starscream/Soundwave dynamic needs to be preserved in the film franchise.

They didn't cause Megatron would have been CG trickery and Brawl is a trick (the tank was a prop from another movie and fake to boot). Then you have Blackout who'd be around 33% larger than Starscream.
The MH-53J is much bigger than an F-22 Raptor. In fact you could probably fit Bumble bee and Jazz in alt mode inside Blackout in alt mode.
Compare.
F-22
Length: 18.90 metres
Width: 13.56 m
Height: 5.08 m
MH-53J
Length: 28 m
Rotor diameter: 21.9 m (the actual width would be prolly a third of the rotor diameter)
Height: 7.6 m

The first issue came out yesterday! You can find it in your local comic shop.
It didn't break a whole lot of new ground, but gave the events of the first comic series and the movie from Starscreams perspective. This helped tied up many lose ends including what happened to Barricade, the whole Mars thing, and some time issues.
Solid art, and story, but like I said it didn't move forward much.
New Characters introduced: Prowl, Arcee, and a Decepticon called Deathbomb or something, but he is in critical condition after being bombed in space
So get ready to see at least the first two in the new movie!

Missing from the end battel? Well, in the comic they have the freeway scene in one panel, right before Optimus & Bonecrusher duke it out. Well, Ironhide run Barricade into a concrete post/barrier on the freeway, he smacks head on into it .... but he is not out for the count that. Is that what you meant?
I have a question ... in the beginning of the comic, when the 'Cons land on Earth, they shoot it out with someone. It looks like they are fighting amongst themselves and SS says that they lost one of their own ... who was it they lost? I cannot tell who it is by the looks of the panel.

The first issue follows the story of the film from Starscream's perspective, with him organizing his team to follow Megatron to Earth. During the battle in Mission City, Starscream is enraged by Megatron's uncaring attitude towards the death of his comrades. Following his leader's death, Starscream meets with a wounded Barricade (whom Ironhide caused to crash into a barrier and thus miss the battle) and is told the dead Frenzy had important files on Sam Witwicky and the All Spark. Starscream tells Barricade to carry on his role as his spy on Earth, while he flies to the Hoover Dam to recover Frenzy.
In the second issue, Starscream retrieves Frenzy but is injured, and he is forced to return to Mars in F-22 Raptor form. He explains to Thundercracker he likes his Earth form though, admitting he admires the humans for killing Megatron and destroying the All Spark. The two Seekers decide to return to Cybertron, using Frenzy's data to recreate the All Spark. They begin transmitting the data to Cybertron, and prepare to enter a Space Bridge. Starscream is confident with Optimus Prime on Earth, no one can stop his conquest of their home planet, unaware an Autobot team (consisting of Arcee, Cliffjumper, Air Raid, Camshaft, Smokescreen and Cosmos) are about to attack.
The third issue opens with the Autobots being engaged by a swarm of drones. They easily rip through them, even killing Hardtop, but are put on the defensive as Thundercracker arrives, killing several of them. Arcee, furious at history repeating itself as her colleagues fall, manages to badly wound him, but it is too late: a recharged Starscream arrives and kills all but her. The Decepticons return to Cybertron, with Ramjet having prepared things for his new lord. The data transmitted has been used, and a new All Spark is now under construction.
The series is consistent with Target Corporation's second prequel comic to the film with Wreckage being killed by humans upon arriving on Earth. However, the third issue refers to the torture of Bumblebee's squad (including Arcee) by Megatron, an event which took place in the first issue of the original prequel series, which seemingly takes place in a different continuity. The Transformers use spaceships, the absence of which in the film is explained by the Decepticons parking theirs (the Nemesis) on Mars before flying as protoforms to Earth

I finished this today.
Review: Not bad, but not good. You can skip it without missing really anything needed for any movie. The overall series is muddled. They introduce a lot of new characters, but it is hard to tell who is who and what is what. Same problem with the aciton, something blows up, but you can't really make it out, so you end up not caring.
The most interesting thing about this series is Starscream's motives. You end up rooting for him. He is trying to end the war, unify a race, and help heal his homeworld. All good things in my book. Everyone else in these books just ends up mucking things up for him.
Overall: 4/10 Not worth buying, but maybe going to a Barnes and Noble and flipping thru the TPB when it comes out.
