if you were given control of the series what would you do?
what stories would you put in, what changes would you make, what characters would you add?

I'd adapt the story "nothing stops the Juggernaut"

I have an idea on how to end the Venom saga, but whatever Greg and his team choose to do, I wouldn't change it. They've proven themselves capable of writing intricate stories.

Yea and since we are so early in the series their is not much to judge the show on and what we have seen is good and from greg's past works we know he is a good guy to control the show. Yes there is some things like shocker/montana and if tombstone is really big man instead of foswell but those are minor things and what they are doing in the show works for them.

No changes so far and no more characters, we have gotten a huge variety of characters in this first season so far and they have been handled well. As for what stories I want to see in later seasons, definitely Stan Carter's conversion to the Sin=Eater and Jean's eventual death. But like I said it would be much later.

There are a few Ultimate Stories I'd like to see adapted. "Hollywood" comes to mind because it would be surreal to see sPidey watch people shoot a film about him (Raimi and Maguire could guest star as themselves!) and sPidey getting stranded in south America by Doc Ock and having to sneak his way back into the US was too great.

there is lots of stories from 616 and even ultimate that would be cool getting adapted in some form i just cant think of any good ones off the top of my heard currently.

yeah some stories from ultimate... "Hollywood" would rock, but changing it a little like a documental about Spidey, cameras chasing him, dunno...
and showing that Normal is the Goblin... lol

yea that take on hollywood ultimate story would be kinda cool, nice idea with documentary deal. I would be down with that.

Also, I'd replace Montana with Schulz if only to get the Enforcers back together.

if I had alittle say in the show I would have a GG vs HG ep like in TAS.

1. I dislike packing so many cameos and storylines in one episode. Sometimes Greg and his team make it work, other times it becomes bloated.

2. Total new design. I want realism. Not too detailed, but while I enjoy the fluidity of Spidey's movements I just feel if they made the show computer-animated it would enhance the experience even more. That's the one medium they have not taken the webhead in. They've done live-action, cartoons, cel-shading, but they haven't done a computer-animated show and I would've chosen to done that.

3. New voice-actors for MJ and Green Goblin. New costume for Electro. Would've made Captain Stacy look like and be the same age as James Cromwell from the film. Clancy Brown's Stacy looks like he could be in 40's with a penchant for dying his hair bleach blonde.

4. Kept Shocker as Herman Schulz.

I dunno, I LIKE that Aunt May and Captain Stacy aren't ancient anymore.

Heck, if I was in charge I'd have done a major change and recreate Jessica Drew as Jessica Parker, Ben and May's daughter and Peter's cousin. Blends Spider-Woman into the mythos more directly.

Plus it would add to Peter's guilt over Ben: not only did May lose her husband and Peter his uncle, but now Jessica doesn't have a father.

Actually to be honest we dont really know how old they are in the show since we dont have winkles on the character faces, same goes with toomes we only know he is old since norman said he was an old man, so its possible may and george stacy could be in 50s/60s.

Anwar
05-27-2008, 02:02 PM
Toomes does look older and more frail than either May or Stacy.

I'm guessing May is in her late 40s while Captain Stacy may be in his mid 40s.

Webhead2006
05-27-2008, 02:11 PM
well u got to remember how old was peter's parents then and who was older ben or peter's father and all that. So it would be better i think saying may/george ar around 50s.

Anwar
05-27-2008, 02:22 PM
Back in the 60s there was this fascination with giving comic chars really old parent figures, so for whatever reason they made Ben and May in their 60s when Peter was only a kid and explained that Ben was a lot older than Richard.

These days that fascination isn't as prevalent, so there's no reason Ben couldn't be only 1-2 years older then Richard which would make him and May in their 40s when Peter was a teenager.

This also makes it more tragic over what happened to Ben because he had like 50 years of life left in him, whereas if he was already ancient he was probably going to be dead in like 10 years or less.

I'm a little surprised the purists haven't jumped on me for suggesting the revamp of Spider-Woman as one of Peter's family...

I would first of all change Peter's design if possible, cause I just don't like this one but it doesn't bothers me enough. Second, I would have left Rhino for later seasons and worked in Mysterio. I would have given Eddie more emotional ties with Peter, concerning their past, rather than borrowing heavily from Ultimate. Another thing, if this doesn't happens in upcoming episodes, get Venom to beat the crap out of Black-Cat just like in the comics, I just don't like her.

Story-wise, I would try and adapt some events from recent comics than starting from the beginning in every incarnation. I would maybe perhaps devote a whole season to events pertaining to Civil War, I really liked it because it made sense that government is finally doing something about masked vigilantes, forcing them to register if they want to continue being heroes. Because to me personally, I don't know about others, I feel that this "Yay you saved us regardless of the damages to the City and possible loss of life," just doesn't works for me 'every time', comic or not, it just doesn't.

well currently for SSM looks like spidey is the only hero roaming the streets. So Civil war really wouldnt work for the show.

One thing I would make sure of....NO MORBIUS. The 90s series effectively killed any affection I had for that character.

Webhead2006

yea morbius blew in that show and really for a kids rated show with censorship vampires are hard to do.

Well I'm not watching the show because I hate the art direction so... Also I'd make Pete older.

Webhead2006

alot of people dont like the animation style but that is a stupid reason not to watch the show the writing, and action have been great so far in the series. An the point of the show is the early days of peter parker/spiderman after he got the spider bite. Which in the comics was 15/16 yrs old, and they decided to start off in highschool. Also Greg and the other producers have said each season will be the next school sesmter like this season is fall of junior yr, season 2 spring of junior yr, and they are hoping to get 5 seasons and go through rest of highschool career, and likely one season to be an all summer season. Then he said he hopes to do dtd films with a more mature setting and be in college once the series is over. So with the seasons going i see it like this s1-fall junior yr, s2-spring junior yr, s3-likely summer season, s4-fall senoir yr, and s5-spring of senior yr and high school graduation.

Well I don't think is a 'stupid' reason. I also hate retreading the same crap over and over again. I've watched Spider-man grow up how many times now?

I prefer to see Peter grow up instead of just having an older Peter right off the bat. It makes for more interesting stories.

And better development of his character. More than you could do if you started him out older.

Plus...it was kinda stupid to see a college-aged Peter Parker still live with his Aunt in TAS.
