Well, the Red Wings showed their veteran experiance and schooled the younger Penguins...
Every playoff minute that all the Penguins played will be invaluable experience for those kids in the years that come...
If they can keep the payroll down and get guys like Crosby, Fleury, Staal, Malone & Dupuis to sign long-term deals that pays reasonably, they will be the dominant team in the East... I'd like to think they can do the same with Malkin & maybe Hossa, but the overseas players tend to go with the money, but I hope they prove me wrong... they could become as powerful as the Oilers of the 80's... and that's ^%$^ing scary... :wow:
Anyhoo, there will be things to discuss for the '08/'09 season... like who will coach the Sharks, Leafs & Lightning... draft picks coming up... free-agent market in July...
With last season just a few days ended, let's look onward and talk about the upcoming one.
Keep it clean...
Cheers...

It's cool that Fletcher is chasing after Ron Wilson to coach the Leafs, but you'd think they'd let the new GM do that... because maybe the new GM might not like Ron Wilson (unless you buy the "get Wilson to get Burke" theory)...
Seems like a mistake to me...

This year was one heck of a playoff series
Thrashers need a coach, some big ole d-men, and wise use of the #3 pick.

God, I hope that all the rumors of The Mullet coming to coach the Lightning are ********. :csad:
There so many better, more experienced coaches out there to choose from...why settle for Melrose?
Hell, I'd love to see the Bolts make a run at trying to talk Bowman or Burns back into the game. Both live in the area (Scotty in Sarasota, Burns in St. Pete), so they wouldn't have to worry about moving their family or what not.
Not to mention both are leagues above Melrose in terms of coaching skill. :o

2008 All Free Agent Team
The following is TSN.ca's 23-man roster made up of the most intriguing players eligible this summer for unrestricted free agency. The market opens Tuesday, July 1 at Noon et/9am pt.
MARIAN HOSSA
2007-08 Team: Thrashers/Penguins
2007-08 Salary: $7 million
The Stats: 72 GP, 29 G, 66 PTS
Lowdown: After shaking his reputation as a bad playoff performer and helping lead the Penguins to the Cup final, Hossa will be commanding a huge pay raise.
MATS SUNDIN
2007-08 Team: Maple Leafs
2007-08 Salary: $5.5 million
The Stats: 74 GP, 32 G, 78 PTS
Lowdown: Sundin's future depends on where the Maple Leafs are headed and whether they'll bump up his salary from the $5.5 million he earned last season.
JAROMIR JAGR
2007-08 Team: Rangers
2007-08 Salary: $8.36 million
The Stats: 82 GP, 25 G, 71 PTS
Lowdown: Jagr has hinted at everything from retirement to playing in Russia, but a return to the NHL for another year will likely be with the Rangers.
KRISTIAN HUSELIUS
2007-08 Team: Flames
2007-08 Salary: $1.4 million
The Stats: 81 GP, 41 A, 66 PTS
Lowdown: With a lot of free agents to sign and limited cap space, Huselius could be the odd man out in Calgary. Teams would love him for secondary scoring.
DAYMOND LANGKOW
2007-08 Team: Flames
2007-08 Salary: $2.442 million
The Stats: 80 GP, 30 G, 65 PTS
Lowdown: Langkow has been a model of consistency and solid two-way play for the last two seasons. That being said, he's the top offseason priority in Calgary.
SEAN AVERY
2007-08 Team: Rangers
2007-08 Salary: $1.9 million
The Stats: 57 GP, 33 PTS, 154 PIM
Lowdown: Not only is the league's premier agitator, but he's also a great skater and a solid clutch scorer. He's a one-of-a-kind player in this year's market.
RYAN MALONE
2007-08 Team: Penguins
2007-08 Salary: $1.45 million
The Stats: 77 GP, 27 G, 6 GWG
Lowdown: A subject of trade rumours for a few seasons now, the ever-improving power forward elevated his stock significantly with Pittsburgh's Cup run.
VACLAV PROSPAL
2007-08 Team: Lightning/Flyers
2007-08 Salary: $1.9 million
The Stats: 80 GP, 33 G, 71 PTS
Lowdown: Prospal was one of the few bright spots with the Lightning this past season, and his consistency played a big part in Philly's playoff success.
MARKUS NASLUND
2007-08 Team: Canucks
2007-08 Salary: $6 million
The Stats: 82 GP, 30 A, 55 PTS
Lowdown: Naslund is clearly in the back-end of his career, but can still provide some offensive boost for less than the $6 million he earned this past season.
BRIAN ROLSTON
2007-08 Team: Wild
2007-08 Salary: $2.432 million
The Stats: 81 GP, 59 PTS, 8 GWG
Lowdown: Rolston has been the heart-and-soul of the Wild for three seasons, and the team is working hard to try to re-sign their on-ice leader.
PAVOL DEMITRA
2007-08 Team: Wild
2007-08 Salary: $4.5 million
The Stats: 68 GP, 39 A, 54 PTS
Lowdown: The sturggling Demitra was initially brought in to St. Paul as support for Marian Gaborik. If he goes, will Gaborik follow a year from now via free agency?
RADIM VRBATA
2007-08 Team: Coyotes
2007-08 Salary: $1.225 million
The Stats: 76 GP, 27 G, 56 PTS
Lowdown: After a career year in Phoenix, Vrbata can stay and grow with a young and exciting team, or go for a big pay day and play somewhere else.
MICHAEL RYDER
2007-08 Team: Canadiens
2007-08 Salary: $2.95 million
The Stats: 70 GP, 14 G, 31 PTS
Lowdown: Teams lining up for the Newfoundland native are betting he'll return to his 30-goal form from two seasons ago. The Habs won't likely be one of them.
BRIAN CAMPBELL
2007-08 Team: Sabres/Sharks
2007-08 Salary: $1.75 million
The Stats: 83 GP, 62 PTS, 33 PPP
Lowdown: Campbell's fluid skating, smart defensive game and power play expertise make him the top commodity on the blueline this summer.
WADE REDDEN
2007-08 Team: Senators
2007-08 Salary: $6.5 million
The Stats: 80 GP, 38 PTS, +11
Lowdown: The chances of Redden returning at an affordable price are slim - especially with the Big Three locked up and Meszaros and Vermette left to sign.
MARK STREIT
2007-08 Team: Canadiens
2007-08 Salary: $600,000
The Stats: 81 GP, 62 PTS, 34 PPP
Lowdown: He was a big reason why the Habs didn't miss Sheldon Souray on the power play, with lots of minutes logged on defence and at forward.
JOHN-MICHAEL LILES
2007-08 Team: Avalanche
2007-08 Salary: $1.4 million
The Stats: 81 GP, 32 PTS, 20 PPP
Lowdown: Liles hasn't put up very big numbers, but has great value for his solid puck movement and playing 'Top 4' minutes in every game.
MICHAL ROZSIVAL
2007-08 Team: Rangers
2007-08 Salary: $2.3 million
The Stats: 80 GP, 38 PTS, 2 SHG
Lowdown: With 18 power play points, Rozsival was the best of a Broadway defence corps that didn't provide a whole lot of offence from the point.
RON HAINSEY
2007-08 Team: Blue Jackets
2007-08 Salary: $900,000
The Stats: 78 GP, 32 PTS, 23 PPP
Lowdown: A former Montreal cast-off, Hainsey was a top defenceman who played more than 22 minutes a game for an underachieving Blue Jackets lineup.
BRAD STUART
2007-08 Team: Kings/Red Wings
2007-08 Salary: $3.5 million
The Stats: 72 GP, 23 PTS, -10
Lowdown: The Wings can't afford Stuart at $3.5 million for next season, but he has certainly made a case for staying with his impressive playoff outing.
CRISTOBAL HUET
2007-08 Team: Canadiens/Capitals
2007-08 Salary: $2.75 million
The Stats: 52 GP, 32 W, .920 SV%
Lowdown: After arriving from the Habs, the French netminder shone brightly for the Caps going 11-2 with a 1.63 GAA and .936 save percentage.
JOSE THEODORE
2007-08 Team: Avalanche
2007-08 Salary: $6 million
The Stats: 53 GP, 28 W, 2.44 GAA
Lowdown: Theodore showed shades of his glory days with Montreal, but it won't translate into anything close to the $16 million deal he got three years ago.
DAN ELLIS
2007-08 Team: Predators
2007-08 Salary: $500,000
The Stats: 44 GP, 23 W, .924 SV%
Lowdown: Chris Mason won Nashville's No. 1 job from Tomas Vokoun last year, and it was Ellis' turn this past season with a 2.34 GAA in just 44 games.

God, I hope Smith is able to finally bring stability in the net for us. I've nearly forgotten what good goaltending looks like. :o
As for Torts, I guess with a new ownership group coming in, they wanted to go with their own guy.
Plus Torts did say after the season ended that maybe it was time for a new voice in the locker room. Course he did retract that statement quickly, it might have played a part in his firing.
Stamkos is definitely going to be our pick. Bolts are already starting to promote his coming.
I for one can't wait to see him in a Lightning sweater. Kid's got some serious skills.

Hossa has been quoted in the Pittsburgh post gazette that he would love to take less money to stay on a winning team. I really want to keep Malone. Though not as great as Kevin Stevens was,he still is the best power forward we've had since Kevin. Plus,he's a hometown kid. I'm assuming he'll wanna stay, but out of the two I'd try and keep Hossa. Sid needs that scoring winger on his line. If healthy,I do believe Sid will win another scoring title this coming year, especially if Hossa is on his line.

Ron Wilson is enroute to Toronto and will meet with Leafs interim GM Cliff Fletcher Monday night in Toronto. It is expected Wilson will sign a contract and officially become the new coach of the Maple Leafs with an announcement expected Tuesday.
Wilson and Fletcher verbally agreed to terms on a four-year contract over the weekend.
Maple Leafs interim general manager Cliff Fletcher told TSN on Sunday morning while they had a verbal agreement, the deal wasn't signed.
"It is not on paper and won't be until at least Tuesday," said Fletcher on Sunday. "There is no contract until it is signed."
The deal is believed to be in the neighborhood of $6.5 million.
Wilson, 53, has spent the last two decades behind the bench, compiling a record of 518-446-127 over his 1,091 games with the San Jose Sharks, Washington Capitals and Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. His career win totals rank third among active coaches, behind Bryan Murray and Mike Keenan. He was also an assistant coach with the Vancouver Canucks in 1991 and 1992 under head coach Pat Quinn.
He enjoyed a career season in 1997-98 as head coach of the U.S. National Team at the 1998 Nagano Olympics, and also led the Capitals to the Stanley Cup Final against the Detroit Red Wings. In 1996, he coached the U.S. to victory at the inaugural World Cup of Hockey.
Wilson, who was fired last month after the Sharks were eliminated from the playoffs by the Dallas Stars, spent five years in San Jose as head coach, leading them to four straight postseason berths and the Western Conference Final in 2004. He holds club coaching records for wins (206), winning percentage (.535) and postseason games coached (52), and the Sharks put together a 206-134-45 record in the regular season and a 28-24 playoff record.
The Maple Leafs are still in search for a general manager to eventually replace Cliff Fletcher, with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Richard Peddie and lawyer Gordon Kirke continuing to work to that end.
Wilson's relationship with Anaheim Ducks' GM Brian Burke adds intrigue to the speculation that the team may wait for Burke in an effort to hire him as general manager next summer. The former college teammates in Providence worked together in Vancouver when Burke was the assistant GM, and Burke is the also the godfather of Wilson's daughter.
Earlier this week, sources told TSN that Wilson was offered the position after meeting with the team on Tuesday. He then returned home to contemplate the offer.

What about Malkin in the future. They can sign Hossa for less for one year and hope they win next year. Otherwise Malkin will have 20 teams bidding for him as a RFA.
CTV has bought The Hockey Theme! I thought they would, CBC deserves to lose it if they thought nobody would buy it. But the CBC will have their contest and I'm sure CTV will update the theme a bit. And the CBC Sports guy said its a commercial for CBC essentially. But only for so long.

''Red Wings award Babcock with 3-year deal''
DETROIT (AP) — Mike Babcock is returning to the bench for the Detroit Red Wings. Babcock and the Stanley Cup-winning team agreed to a three-year contract, a person in the NHL told The Associated Press on Tuesday night.
The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the team planned an 11 a.m. Wednesday news conference to announce the deal. The Red Wings announced plans for a news conference, but didn't release details.

I don't think it's gonna be a bad signing. Melrose knows the game well. Tampa just might not have the players to reach the playoffs. They lost two key players in the last few years( Dave Andreychuk and Brad Richards.) If they can go out and get another key player, I think they can make a run through the playoffs.

The Leafs are desperate to get something for Sundin while they can. Now they gave the Rangers permission to speak with him.
As far as Melrose, it will be interesting to see what he can do. He has had a fairly successful track record in Jr's and the AHL with Championships. And this team shouldn't be that bad if they can get the goaltending straightened out. I mean they still have Vinny, Marty and now Stamkos. No way they finish last again.

Well, the Bolts' owners said they'd be aggressive in FA, and they're off to a good start.
I know a lot of the rumors floating around is that Malone will want a annual salary that's more than he's worth. But the Bolts must have an idea that they can sign him to a decent deal so close to the deadline if they're trading for his rights.
As for Roberts, I like the move. Granted he'll only be here for a season, but he'll bring some much needed leadership on and off the ice for this team. And his presence will only help the maturation process for Steven Stamkos.
So far Oren Koules and Co have not disappointed.

$7.4 million, only $400,000 more than last year. Lidstrom makes $7.45 million, they wouldn't let anyone get paid more than him. Zetterberg is a UFA next season so unless the salary cap jumps a fair bit they'll let Hossa go and put that $7.4 mill toward Zetterberg.
Sens should offer RFA Fleury a contract.
The best website to see how your team is doing with the cap. Chicago $12 million for two goalies? Khabibulin better be traded during the season to a team with goalie problems.

I was saying the Red Wings are the rich and they got richer.
Tallon said he was gonna go into the season with both Huet and Khabibulin as a tandem. Khabibulins contract will make him difficult to move right now. If they have anyone going to arbitration they still have the window to buy him out though.
Hossa will only be there for a year and chance at a ring, then you are correct they will sign Zetterberg to a big deal. Conklin was a good pick up for them as well. Provided Osgood doesn't turn back into the Ozzie of old.

Evgeni Malkin has cashed in on five-year contract extension with the Penguins worth $8.7 million per season.
The deal is exact same that Pittsburgh gave to fellow phenom Sidney Crosby last summer. Malkin enjoyed an outstanding year, amassing 106 points in the regular season (second in the NHL), while posting 22 points in 20 playoff games. I am reserving judgment until I see him play. Ribeiro was also a locker room cancer according to fans, but he worked out. With other outspoken guys around it may not be a problem, or it may serve as a way to motivate each other.
All I know is that other teams are really gonna hate Dallas next season with Avery, Morrow, and Ott (as most likely they'll all be on different lines), even the possibility of placing Barch on the 4th line is gonna make it hell for other teams.

I understand what you're saying, but the Stars have had Ott on the team for years, so I think it'll be less "cancerous" than most situations. However, anytime a very boisterous and outspoken player joins a team, there are always going to be confrontations.
I'm looking forward to seeing how other teams handle the Stars now. They'll be a ***** to play with Morrow, Ott, and Avery all on different lines, it'll be a constant barrage of hard-nosed playing.

To San Jose:
Dan Boyle
Brad Lukowich
To Tampa Bay:
Matthew Carle
Ty Wishart
1st Round Pick in 2009
4th Round Pick in 2010
Looks like a solid trade for Tampa Bay. San Jose gets immediate help, but we'll see how Boyle's defense liability is handled there. Carle and Wishart have plenty of time to develop and Carle is already pretty good at a young age. Add that 1st round pick and the 4th and Tampa is definitely ready for a good rebuild.

The New York Islanders have parted ways with head coach Ted Nolan.
Islanders general manager Garth Snow announced Monday that Nolan will not return next season. Nolan had one season remaining on his contract.
"Ted has helped us achieve some success over the last two seasons, however it has become clear that we have philosophical differences and have decided together to part ways," said Snow in a press release. "Since last season and continuing into the summer, I have realized we do not share the same philosophies. I would like to thank Ted for his two years with the team and wish him the best.
"I have a list of several qualified candidates. After a thorough process, we will hire the very best coach to lead the Islanders on the ice."
Nolan was 75-68-21 in two seasons on the Island. His career record as an NHL coach stands at 148-140-19-21.
"While I am disappointed I will not be coaching the Islanders next season, there have been philosophical differences and we've agreed it's a good time for me to move on," Nolan said in a statement. "I want to thank the Islanders organization for giving me a chance to coach in the NHL again. I have tremendous respect for what the team is trying to do and I wish them well."

The Chicago Blackhawks are naming legendary coach Scotty Bowman as a Senior Advisor, Hockey Operations on Thursday.
Ranking first among all NHL coaches in games coached (2,141), wins (1,244) and Stanley Cups (nine), Bowman is revered as an all-time great behind the bench.
Bowman, 75, was a head coach for thirty NHL seasons with the St. Louis Blues, Montreal Canadiens, Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings and has served as a consultant with the Red Wings since he retired after winning the 2002 Stanley Cup.
He'll join a talented young Blackhawks franchise that is led on the ice by reigning NHL Rookie of the Year Patrick Kane, as well as first-line centre Jonathan Toews, providing support to the front office team headed by President John McDonough and General Manager Dale Tallon.
Bowman's son Stan is an Assistant GM, Hockey Operations with the Blackhawks.
Suck on that Toronto.
The number of teams legitimately interested in the services of Mats Sundin has increased to six according to his agent JP Barry.
''The number has gone up, not gone down since July 1st,'' Barry told the Team 1040 Sports Radio station in Vancouver. ''The other three (teams) would like not to be discussed as much publicly because it just provides more scrutiny.''
Barry did admit that Detroit is not one of the teams interested.
''There are other teams that have said, 'We're that interested in a short-term, one to two year deal. We just want to let you know that if you give us some time, we'll make room'." Barry told the Team 1040. ''So I don't think the demand will slow down if he takes longer. I think there's enough teams out there interested in his services that it's kind of a unique situation.''
Barry also told the Team 1040 that Sundin might not be making any decisions by August 1st.
''He's still taking his time, and he hasn't given us an indication or not if he's going to keep playing or not. You know, when he was speaking in Sweden about August, unfortunately a lot of people picked up 1st of August. He meant August. He meant sometime in August he would definitely decide because he'll definitely be in training camp.''
So August 31st the way he's going....
The Edmonton Oilers have named Steve Tambellini as their new general manager, moving Kevin Lowe into the role of President of Hockey Operations for Rexall sports.
Tambellini, 50, has been part of the Vancouver Canucks hockey operations staff for the past 17 seasons and was most recently the Assistant General Manager and Vice-President of Hockey Operations.
Tambellini played 553 career NHL games between 1978-1979 and 1987-1988 with the New York Islanders, Colorado Rockies, New Jersey Devils, Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks.
Tambellini and Lowe have previously worked together as members of Team Canada's management team, helping lead Canada to success on the international stage.
As Director of Player Personnel, Tambellini helped put together the roster that won the gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah and he was also a member of the management team for Team Canada's gold medal triumph at the 2004 World Cup of Hockey. He also served as the General Manager of Team Canada at the 2003 and 2005 IIHF World Hockey Championships, winning the gold medal in Finland in 2003 and silver in 2005.
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Mike Gillis today issued the following statement on behalf of the club regarding Steve Tambellini:
"On behalf of the entire Canucks organization we would like to thank Steve for his many contributions to our club as a player and manager over nearly 20 years. Since his days as a player and continuing through his time spent in our front office, Steve was a committed member of our team and community.
This is an opportunity that Steve could not pass up and we are in full support of his decision to advance his career. We wish him, his wife Denise and their entire family the best of luck in the future."
Lowe has been Oilers GM since June 9, 2000, guiding the team to the 2006 Stanley Cup Final. The Oilers have missed the playoffs in the two seasons since, though there is a sense of optimism moving forward as the team has assembled a nucleus of young talent that should provide better results.
Kevin Prendergast, who has been the Oielrs' Vice-President of Hockey Operations, will move in as the new Assistant General Manager, and will continue to be responsible for overseeing both the team's pro and amateur scouting operations.
Didn't see that coming. Interesting to see the Canucks do with their "former agent" GM and how they let their assistant go to a divisional rival.

Well if you were in a 6 team league for over 40 years I would hope you would win a few Cups. But its been over 40 years since the Leafs last won or even appeared in the Finals. At least I was alive and got to see my team in the Finals, you have to watch it in brief clips showing the glory years.

http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/17685-Source-Senators-defenseman-Andrej-Meszaros-signs-offer-sheet-with-another-team.html
Hours after Ottawa GM Bryan Murray held a news conference to announce the team was at a contractual impasse with restricted free agent defenseman Andrej Meszaros, The Hockey News has learned from a source close to the negotiations that Meszaros has agreed to a multi-year offer sheet with an average salary in excess of $5 million per season.
The team that has agreed to terms with the 22-year-old has yet to be confirmed.
When contacted by The Hockey News, Murray wouldn't confirm the report.
"I’ve heard rumors that that’s happening, but there’s no confirmation of that at this point," said Murray.

It is ridiculous what some of these D are getting just cause they can make an outlet pass and move the puck. I mean $5 million for Meszaros is worse than the Bruins throwing 3.5 million plus at Dennis Wideman. These salarys are gonna get ridiculous fast.
Before it was everyone wanted size and it killed the NHL, speed which is the true thing that makes the sport exciting went the way of the Dodo. You had to prove you could play if you where under 6 feet and you had to prove you couldn't play if you where 6 foot plus. Now GM's are gonna shoot themsleves in the foot with all this throwing $$$ at players that are young and show "potential". Whatever happened to earning your pay check.

SENATORS TRADE MESZAROS TO TAMPA BAY
NHL
TSN.ca
The Ottawa Senators finally resolved their contract dispute with defenceman Andrej Meszaros on Friday, trading the restricted free agent to the ever-changing Tampa Bay Lightning.
In exchange, the Senators received defencemen Filip Kuba and Alexandre Picard and a first round pick the Lightning previously acquired from the San Jose Sharks. Sources add that Meszaros is expected to sign a six-year contract with the Lightning averaging $4 million a season.
Meszaros, 22, played in all 82 games for the Senators last season, recording nine goals and 27 assists. In 246 career games with Ottawa, he had 26 goals and 84 assists. He was Ottawa's first-round pick (23rd overall) in the 2004 NHL Draft.
Meszaros and the Senators were locked in contract talks all summer. Reports indicated that Meszaros was seeking a deal worth $4.5 million a year, while the team was offering closer to $3.5 million.
"We've tried to make presentations with a variety of offers and terms, but they've been rejected at this point and time," general manager Bryan Murray told reporters on Thursday. "So there's nothing more. We're some distance apart."
The trading of Meszaros leaves Chris Phillips and Anton Volchenkov as the only two regular defencemen from last season's opening night lineup. The team parted ways with Wade Redden, Luke Richardson and Mike Commodore via free agency and traded blueliner Joe Corvo midway through the season.
Kuba, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound native of the Czech Republic, skated in 75 games with Tampa last season, scoring six goals and 31 points. In 531 NHL games with the Lightning and Minnesota Wild, the veteran blueliner has 55 goals and 207 points. He was also a member of the Czech team that won the bronze medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino.
Picard, drafted in the third round by the Philadelphia Flyers in 2003, had six points in 20 games with Tampa last season. In 92 NHL games, the Gatineau, Quebec native has six goals and 28 points.
The addition of Meszaros is the latest of several changes the Lightning made in the offseason. After taking centre Steven Stamkos first overall June's NHL Entry Draft, the team hit the ground running by acquiring forwards Vaclav Prospal, Ryan Malone, Gary Roberts, Mark Recchi and Radim Vrbata, defenceman Matt Carle and goaltender Olaf Kolzig.
Good luck Tampa.
The problem was Tampa signed him yesterday but had traded away their 3rd round draft pick to the Penguins. The Bolts needed to give their own pick as part of compensation but the Penguins wouldn't get involved. So Ottawa and Tampa worked out the deal.

They need to pair him with a stay at home guy (Cullimore) who will cover up for the occassional bad pass that he tends to make. Hopefully this coach they have there will let him just go out and play his game. Which is make the outlet pass and on occassion jump into the play as the trailing man. That and let him set up and take some bombs on the PP. He should be off to the side ready to take one timers, this guy has a cannon and he needs to use it. He and Bouwmeester could be a very nice combo on the back end of the PP.

The key with those Buffalo Uni's is the multi-striped socks. That is always a win in my book.
Vancouver is the same as what they have now only with the old school logo, so not much of a change. But it is a classic uni.

And the Canes unveiled the new 3rd Jersey.
I think this is the first team to ever wear two different colored sets of pants in the same season.

Still say the Bruins need to just ditch the 3rd jersey idea all together. Or at least if they are going with this jersey to use the gold socks still. No black please!
Also those Carolina Socks are roach, lets stick to horizontal stripes Reebok.
On a completely unrelated note, I can't wait to see Lucic back out on the ice running people over. That kid will be captain of the B's some day. I love the way he plays the game.

I actually love those 3rds, miles ahead of what they had previously with the disinterested bear look. I think the Bruins uniform set is very classic with the new edge versions they came back with and this 3rd jersey set with hints at the Neely era uniforms.

Oh you got that right. The new uni design is fantastic. Nice and classic look. I couldn't stand the Pooh Bear Uni's and I am glad those went the way of the Dodo. I just think they could have stayed with the classic look they have now and go with the gold jersey ala the 50's I believe. Or at least if you wanna try and go some what 80's-early 90's at least go with the gold socks.

Its that time again!
Grab a Yahoo! ID if you don't already. Same setup as last year, though I changed it so teams only need 3 defensemen instead of 4.
League ID#: 7058
League Name: SHH! Fantasy Hockey
Password: hockey
Custom League URL: http://hockey.fantasysports.yahoo.com/league/shh_fantasy_hockey (bookmark this once you've registered!)
Draft: Live online Saturday Sept.27 6PM EST (5 CT, 4 MT, 3 PT and 7 for Themanofbat)
That can change, they need a draft date to register.
Max Teams: 10
Scoring Type: Head-to-Head
Max Moves: No maximum
Max Trades: No maximum
Trade Reject Time: 1
Trade End Date: March 5, 2009
Waiver Time: 1 day

Post Draft Players: Follow Waiver Rules
Min Games Played: 3
Weekly Deadline: Daily - Tomorrow
Start Scoring on: Week 1
Roster Positions: C, C, C, LW, LW, LW, RW, RW, RW, D, D, D, Util, G, G, BN, BN, BN, IR, IR
Stat Categories: G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SHP, GWG, SOG, W, L, GAA, SV%, SHO
The league needs to be an even number so 12 teams are possible if there is demand.
You can also let someone join your team as a co-manager.
Here is how the draft works. Since I'm the defending champion I will go last. Any new users who have weren't in last year's league will pick in the top spots. ih8nyy was the first new member so he will draft first. Bergy was Boston Bruins = Cup last season so right now Red Winger can be the only one from last year who could draft higher. So if you're new, you can still get #2-6 but if any veterans join you may not be able to join. 3-5 more teams can join. The top 6 teams in the league will advance to the playoffs, the remaining 4-6 teams will play in the consolation bracket.

All depends on what time. My wife works late on Tuesdays and I have to get my daughter to bed. So naturally any time after 8:30pm EDT prob. works best.

Here is the ten team roster.
Draft is on Tuesday, Sept.23 8:45PM EST / 7:45PM CST. There will be 18 rounds. Pre-rank your players just in case you can't make it. It will be a non-snaking draft just like in the NHL.
And though Badgers did finish lower than Devils, Badgers defeated Devils in the consolation bracket. So for incentive to participate in the consolation bracket, the winners will draft lower than the losers.
10 The Colbeagles
09 The Mighty FU
08 The Losers
07 Dark Donnie
06 The Pickled Peppers
05 The Devils
04 Blotto'd Badgers
03 Bergy
02 War Party
01 Denny Pratt Tragedy
FIRST WEEK MATCHUPS
The Colbeagles vs. The Pickled Peppers
The Devils vs. The Mighty FU
Bergy vs. Dark Donnie
Denny Pratt Tragedy vs. The Losers
Blotto'd Badgers vs. War Party
Starting it off against my arch rivals...

If you can find another person to sign up and are committed to participate until mid April. We need an even number of teams.
Also, someone who is interested can make you co-manager and the two of you would manage a team. So if you know anyone who is a manager you could PM them.

Agreed. They look just as good as last year's team. If they have the same chemistry as last year, yes. But if Hossa's just gonna be looking for a ring and not plan on staying long-term, then no. :csad:
