I went back and tackled one of the pictures that made me reputable as a bad manipper again, just to see how much I've improved.

Actually, most of my manips are still quick jobs. I just use new methods.

For some reason, when I take a long time on them, for some reason they turn out not to look what I think it should be. Like for a Black Mask poster I did for the Batman thread. I took a picture of a skull, darkened it, slapped the logo on there and wrote "Gotham Dawn" on it. And it turned out pretty good. I worked on a Riddler one, and it turned out kinda bad (IMO).

Why does the ground & backround have a red tint to it?

Thats because I used color rotation to shift it to red. For some reason, color rotation ignores black and gray, so the suit didnt change.

Firstly, I want to be absolutely clear I am NOT insulting you, belittling, or flaming or trolling. Truth is, I haven't posted a manip as I am really terrible at photoshop, or any kind of image editing/creating skill! So you don't have to take this on board, or even acknowledge it at all, and won't be offended if you decide not to. It would be like a professional astronaught taking space advice from a car salesman! So I completely understand if you don't take it on board.

What I wanted to say (long time lurker here!) is you have definately improved. I can see that as a non-manipper, and it's really good to see.

The only 'advice' I'd give, or thing I'd point out, is I think you could do with trying to really piece somethings together, start really creating your own. From what I've seen you're taking stills and ammending colours, and/or flipping them (which you're doing very well by the way). Maybe it's time to take the next step on them now and add to them, make them your own.

Example. Your War Machine manips are just Iron Man with colour or orientation changes. But, we've now seen War Machine in the trailer, and we know he's a little bigger, got the shoulder type parts on there too, guns, guns, and more guns. Maybe try adding those in? Even if it's bit by bit, gun by gun.

Just really start to make your own work stand out a little more.

Please don't take this the wrong way, or think I'm attacking you or anything like that!

I'm just trying to offer a little advice or pointer for future ref.

See what you can do if you put your mind to it, you might surprise yourself!

Hey SpiderByte, PLEASE, you don't need to keep filling these boards with your attempted manips. I use that word because I think you can do better than what you are showing us (evident in your Nick Fury manip above). All this hurried posting of sub standard work makes you look like a little kid who does a doodle with his crayons and bugs his parents until they tell him how good he is.

Try branching out dude. As Cyclone said, experiment a little. Add other things, characters, backgrounds, text elements, title, etc. The more you try, the better you will become.

Okay. But the thing is, (to explain the multiple versions) I redo the pic of the manip now. For example, the War Machine I posted at the top of the page is not the same pic I used for the War Machine with the gun at the bottom. When I do the manips, I print what I think as the finished version, but if someone has a suggestion, I add on to it.

I'll try to put it all together...somehow....

Hey guys, this isn't manip related, it's actual promotional material related. I've been lucky enough at work to be given the job of creating the official Iron Man 2 themed lottery ticket for my state, it's fully licenced so technically I'm doing official work for a Marvel movie :). The ticket will contain symbols that gets scratched off to see if you win a cash prize, and I need some ideas for symbols other than an Iron Man helm or an Arc Reactor. Any ideas just let me know.

its easy to do if your using photoshop. ive done it for all of the standee's. got them in hi-res/png format so the bkg is transparent.
cutting them out is all part of the manip process/fun lol

Depends what you use m8... i like to use the pen tool in quick mask mode.
I also use a plugin called fluid mask. but that can be more trouble than its worth. it takes a lot of messing around and adjustments of the settings.
Its great for hair though

This didn't turn out how I wanted to, but the layout is cool I guess. The quality isn't that great because I was testing filters in Photoshop, and tested so many filters that I couldn't undo to the original state. I'll be making another soon.

This didn't turn out how I wanted to, but the layout is cool I guess. The quality isn't that great because I was testing filters in Photoshop, and tested so many filters that I couldn't undo to the original state. I'll be making another soon.

That's pretty good. Don't like the filters effects you used though.
But the composition is fine.

Thanks. I used photoshop. The thing with Pepper's arm is...Well I found the pic on the original Iron Man movie poster, And part of her arm was cut out. I tried by best to fill in the arm, but being that I'm sort of a newbie with Photoshop, Idk how to use most of the tools.

It looks like you used MS Paint to cut out the images, which, for MS Paint, at least, is pretty damn impressive. I'd suggest getting GIMP, you can find it online. It's free, and it won't screw up your comp.
