When do you expect a teaser/trailer?

I agree that they don't need a mysterious trailer, only if it is going to deal with "The Fallen", if not, then just have some quickie shots of the new bots.

I can't see them waiting that long for any sort of trailer, that would only leave 6 months between releasing the trailer and the movie being released.

well the first official footage of the robots was in first trailer that was realesed in november or december right?

lets not forget something. the robots need to be modeled and rendered. and this will not happen in this summer. only if they will use the old models.

That first teaser of the rover on Mars was 12 months before the first movie came out, I wouldn't mind some kind of short teaser like that to come out while we are in the Summer Blockbuster season, the next trailer I see around late November early December. That seems to follow the trend of the first movie and it's trailers, and considering the hype from the first lot I'd expect Bay to do something similar.

The last week of June marks a few "anniversary" events for Transformers film franchise that indicates a teaser trailer for Transformers 2 could be coming.

June 29th, 2006 - Rover on Mars teaser trailer (http://transformerslive.blogspot.com/2006/06/teaser-trailer-released.html) released
June 21st, 2007 - world premiere (http://transformerslive.blogspot.com/2007/05/transformers-world-premiere-june-21st.html) of Transformers 1 in Italy, followed a week later by its theatrical release for the public.
June 27th, 2008 - ?
June 26th, 2009 - Release date of Transformers 2

Just from that pattern, it seems to me that June 26th, 2008 would be a perfect time to release a teaser trailer online and then the next day in theatres with Wall-E and Wanted. Sure they are not Paramount films but both are expected to have huge audiences so why not use them.

This is all just speculation on my part but its seems to me that if Bay isn't thinking teaser trailer maybe a producer or two should start whispering into his ear about it, if no other reasons then to keep the June streak alive and start generating that buzz for those not already aware that a sequel is coming.

The sooner the better for me....as long as it isn't like the Rover landing...which was good for the first one, since we hadn't seen Bay's Transformers, but I think this one should be a bit more forthcoming with information.

i was reading around and i remembered that dream works does has a movie coming out this summer called "Tropic Thunder"/ I dont know how good it'll be but maybe with enough hype of that movie they will attach a teaser with that movie. Eagle might make $80-$100 million at the box office (if it's a good movie), but attaching a debut Transformers trailer to it only makes sense if the trailer has already been released. I know it has Shia in it, but I think Paramount would want maximum exposure, and therefore would want the initial TF2 trailer bang to be with a bigger movie.

Have something landing in the middle of the desert, some campers run to the site. A giant robot arm comes up. A few scenes with Shia and Megan Fox, Shia running from two Deciptacons, Optimus Prime and Megatron fighting against some big robot, Optimus prime falling. And a quick liner from Megatron with a completely dark screen. Than Transformers logo forms together just like the first, than a little flash that makes Revenge of the Fallen appear at the bottom.

Where do people get this idea? Studios put their trailers where every they want to and if they have to put it with another studios movie to get themself some more exposure for the movie. They will. They do it all the time. When it comes to movie trailers, same studio means nothing. It can help in assurance, but it means virtually nothing.

That being said. I recall rumblings in the past that the teaser might debut with Eagle Eye because Shia is in it, but if it was on it, I would expect to have heard something about it. I don't see Paramount being super secret about the release of the trailer. There is a difference between poor marketing and keeping secrets left to be revealed in the movie. Not letting the worl know when the movie is coming out is just bad marketing.

Just because your theatre's Eagle Eye didn't have the trailer, doesn't necessarily mean that it isn't with some copies...remember that a majority of theatres splice their own trailers....so it is possible...highly unlikely....but possible of a TF2 trailer with Eagle Eye

That was just a teaser. They showed an actual trailer at Comic-Con, but we won't see one until Quantum of Solace comes out.

Last month, AICN (http://transformerslive.blogspot.com/2008/09/teaser-trailer-in-november.html) posted an article that could be interpreted multiple ways. The information it contained was from Paramount's London press screening of its 2009 slate of movies. It said "Seems a lot of major trailers will be coming out in November and star trek will have the Transformers 2 full trailer before it." I thought that was saying that the trailers for Star Trek and Transformers 2 would come out together in November probably with Quantum of Solace on November 14th.

A new EW article (http://startrek11.blogspot.com/2008/10/ews-star-trek-article-full-film-plot.html) about Star Trek confirms at least part of that by saying officially that the trailer for Star Trek XI will come out on that day with that movie. Combine that with the AICN article and the Transformer: Revenge of the Fallen trailer rumors and I think my interpretation is confirmed.

Hopefully in a few weeks exact details will start to come out but now I have three good reasons to look forward to the new James Bond movie - the movie, TF2 trailer and ST trailer.

Actually the Teaser was released with POTC 2, then in december we got the First Theatrical trailer. and The Day The Earth Stood Still seems unlikely, since it is a fox release and paramount and fox don't play nice. Like everyone else here i'm suspecting QoS or Benjamin Button to have both Star Trek and TF2 trailers attached to them.

That's not entirely true. When Transformers came out, nobody, including people at Paramount, knew about the Cloverfield trailer. Maybe Michael took a page out of JJ's book and is keeping this one close.

One thing to remember, the first actual trailer with footage for Transformers didn't release until December 20, 2006. Granted, we didn't get a summer teaser this go-around, but I'd still expect the same general release schedule (despite Orci's November claim). With trailers for Watchmen, Star Trek, and Terminator Salvation all releasing this weekend with Quantum of Solace, I'd all but guarantee that we won't see a TF2 trailer in the mix as well. It's just too saturated. We MIGHT get one with Twilight the next weekend on the 21st, but it's really not the target audience (tween girls). I'd say the best bet for a trailer is with The Day the Earth Stood Still on December 12. It'll be an IMAX release, as will TF2, so it makes sense. It also follows the same general schedule as the last go-around.

I think it'll be late December myself, Wolverine's first official teaser isnt out until until mid-December, and that movie is out almost 2 months before TF2, so the TF2 will be after the Wolverine one IMO.

They could still do a teaser by this point though. It doesn't even need to necessarily show any of the Transformers (though that would be nice). However if a longer wait means we're getting an actual trailer I can live with that.

After working for 4 months as a sculptor on Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, I got an invite to the Wrap Party, so I Akiko and I headed out to Hollywood last night to party down with the cast and crew.
We don't get out all that much so it was fun hanging out at a hip club with an open bar, excellent food and a burlesque trio shaking things up for a few tunes. The highlight however was Michael Bay himself presenting a full length trailer that no one has seen yet as a thanks for all the hard work the crew put in to make the film. In true Bay fashion, the trailer had plenty of Armed Forces presence, returning stars and above all else, tons of stuff getting blowed up. We're talking some serious explosions here. Whoa.

They're following the Pirates model. Does that mean the promos will be like movie 2 or movie 3 :huh:. With POTC 3 i can understand why the movie didn't have that much promotions since it was literally crunch time. The movie was shot for like 50 % and still had the other half to be finished. Not to mention bigger VFX then in the 2nd movie.

It could be that the same thing is happening with TF2. That while shots are being finished , it's just not enough to finish an entire trailer. AT least at this stage.
However i have to agree with DOn ( to a certain extent) that TF2 doesn't need that much promotion. The first TF movie was EXTREMELY well received ( commercially :oldrazz:) so really the last thing we need is to be bombarded with promos. Minimal promotios will do wonders and i seriously doubt we will seeing just 1 trailer a la POTC 3.

As much as I am excited for a teaser, putting it with the Superbowl was a smart play. It will have a much larger audience then it would ever get in a theater, and it makes more sense to spend the money on that then put it in theaters. But the fact is, the second film was rushed to beat the writers strike. CGI has easily doubled from the first film, so ILM needs the time to put forth their best face. The Hulk (2003) Superbowl performance didn't help, and still haunts ILM to this day. Even Iron Man had a really weak moment in its trailer to meet the Superbowl deadline.

So yeah, I'm all fine with giving them more time. I'm reading the news with an eye towards the CGI crew, not the "We're doing the Pirates thing" that's being put forth. If they say they need the time for CGI, people are going to critique the CGI even more when something does show up.

The fact we don't have production stills yet at this stage (like the Bonecrusher vs. Optimus one we got way back) probably backs this up.
