Yeah it should have a sneek peek then I can get more excited for the new season. How long do you guys think it will take to release it?

Parker1989

So its gonna be one dvd or are they gonna do it in like volumes? I think they should just release it on one dvd.

For the cover I'd like to see Peter in the middle with his spider sense going off and we see half of the mask on one side of his face and on the top we see the faces of Doc Ock, Green Goblin, and Venom and then at the bottom we see Aunt May, Gwen, and MJ or Harry.

They should use that promotional poster for the show as the Boxset cover.

You know, that one of him swinging in the night while Vulture, Ock, Sandman and Electro are all going at him.

S1 had only 13 episodes. Surely they could've just made a single boxset :( .

A lot of cartoon shows do it, they know there are some people who will be the volumes and won't wait for a box set, so they get more money for it.

They do it with Avatar and I always buy the volumes, but for this one I'm gonna hold out for the box set.

My speculation for the releases are this.

Volume 1 will be released in July
Volume 2 in August
Volume 3 in September
Volume 4 in November
The Box Set will be out in December for the start of season 2

no no we have no clue when season 2 is airing. Either its this fall(less likely since they havent done the animation for season 2 yet) or it will be airing in the spring like this season was.

so they will just show re runs untill next year if they wait till spring. It will get boring if you have seen them all. But I bet CW will make it one ep each weak after awhile once the season is over.

Well we will just have to wait and see when a box set will come out. We know they are doing volume sets first. So we just have to figure when each volume comes out to when its possible for the full set to come out. Hopefully its not to long of a wait.

Webhead2006
06-13-2008, 01:37 PM
Yea box sets are much nicer way to go for film series/tv seasons. But alot of animated shows nowadays start off with volume sets and then down the road a full season set. One reason this is done probably is for the studios to cash in more on said properties.

Ah, but there's always a catch. Scenes that were cut out of the show to save time or because they were too violent are included. Don't know if the deleted stuff'll be on the full season set, though.

really counts on how many volumes there or and the price per volume compared to a full box set. Now say for SSM each volume is 20 dollars times 4 sets it would cost us a total of like 80 dollars for all the volumes in total. Were as a box set would probably be in the 40-50 dollar range.

Spider-ManHero12

ya that would be nice if the volumes are around 15 bucks. But still 15 x 4 volumes in total will be like 60 dollars. Then box set of the full season would likely be in the 35-50 range i mentioned before.

Spider-ManHero12
06-27-2008, 12:06 PM

Parker1989

News from the Gathering of the Gargoyles' Spectacular Spider-Man panel.

The individual DVDs will, as you know, string the arcs together into a single movie. With more scenes and uncensored action. The laser sound effects will be replaced by bullet sounds.

There will be season sets... but for the episodes as they aired on TV. Not the longer, uncut, uncensored movies. So choose wisely.

Finally, Greg Weisman commented on the scene with Eddie and Mary Jane in "Group Therapy." The way the scene was meant to come off, Eddie wasn't actually viciously stalking Mary Jane. His intent was to date her to hurt Peter... and the way he was driving, that's how he normally drives. Eddie is quite reckless, as seen when he tackled Electro and Lizard. He flirts with death.

When Peter was mentioned, Eddie lost his cool, and Mary Jane was scared. Eddie wasn't trying to do that, but he's unstable.

Now, Greg cops to the fact that intent aside, the scene might not have worked.

Oh man I'm buying everything!

But before you all complain too much about the price, keep in mind - it says the suggested retail price will be 20 bucks. I'm sure you guys know that it's VERY easy to find retailers selling it below that. $20msrp usually ='s about 14.94 at Wal-Mart and probably cheaper at outlets like deepdiscount.

I thought that they were just releasing the individual volumes to make more money out of the kids, so it's sad to hear that the season sets will not have the uncut episodes but who would bet against them releasing a special edition season set with the extra footage?

I guess I'll wait and see what the real difference is between the sets i.e. extras before deciding which to import since I'm in the UK...

This isn't exactly a link, but it's legitimate.

Not sure if these are gonna be released in the UK at all since I don't think the series have even aired over here yet. God bless You Tube!

I'll certainly import them, but I'm going to wait for the first season box set before I do, rather than having to import various volumes at various times.

I'm not against the three episode a disc policy per se, but it seems like a very strange way of doing things, then again, I guess it's aimed at kids who might not be able to afford a full box set in one go, so there's a certain amount of sense behind it. They did the same thing with Justice League and BTAS a few years back. As long as there's a box set alternative it's not so bad.

Personally i think you should get the volume sets. The volume sets are going to be uncut/uncensored version of the episodes. Where as the box set will be just the tv aired episodes. So really if you want uncut/uncensored versions get the volumes. Or if you are just happy with the aired versions of the episodes get the box set whenever it does come out. Agreed, I always go for the Dvd's with the most treats in them, so I suggest the same.

Thanks for the information guys, I didn't realise the individual volumes were the uncut episodes, I just thought they were all the same as the aired versions. I might well wait until all the volumes have been released and then import them all at the same time to save costs then. What kind of stuff has been added? Is it just more violence in the fight scenes or are there deleted plot scenes too?

violence, delted scenes, real gun sound effects, and probably other things i dont remember off the top of my head.

Box sets are always the best, but I find it funny how most of the time with DVD's, etc, the smaller sets have more things in them than the bigger sets do and such. Lol, I guess that's just the way things work. Another great thing aobut Box sets is how we just go to the store and pick up one big set and then that's it. Mo more trips to the store for Volumes, but like I said, I do like Volumes and I'm not mad at all.

I guess the companies that put these things out have to make the extras more appealing on the smaller box sets as there's less actual episodes to justify the price. Hopefully some of these deleted scenes will actually add something to the story and not be there just for the sake of it. Personally I hope we get a cameo from a character we've not seen in the series, like Hobbie Brown or someone.

hobbie brown is in the show, he was in since the football episode. He just never had any speaking parts.

You know, when you think about it, volume sets will make more sense for this series. It'd be like buying four different, feature-length movies.

I agree.
The quality of every single arc makes one great feature-length film.
I really hope they will be available for download, because I don't think that we who live outside US will be getting them anytime soon.

Didn't they say that the episodes in the volumes would be spliced together as one movie? Wouldn't that mean that they'd have to make the end of one episode smoothly transition into the next? I don't know, could be where the added stuff comes in. Either way, I'm excited for SSM in widescreen... I've always been a fan of that format and I feel like I'm not seeing the full version if the sides of the shots are cropped out. Everyone in my family complains about the black bars, but really, I don't want to see half of the director's vision because I'm scared of black bars. And besides, you turn the lights off and those black bars don't even bother you...

If they're going to release individual arc volumes, I'd like them to splice it all together into one movie, I think it would work better. Some of the DC releases like Justice League Secret Origins and The Batman Superman Movie did that and it worked really well.

I love widescreen too. I hate it more when I don't see the black bars. Full screen sucks, which is what I have Spider-man 2 in.:csad:
