I'm thinking we're going to be getting more pics eventually so how bout we just post everything in one thread like most the other forums have. TDK and Spider-Man have all had official gallerys in their section, so here is the Punisher one.
I guess we can start with the stills first from the trailer and continue with some of the previous ones we've seen.

I hope that Jigsaw doesn't play out like a Heath Ledger Joker knockoff. I mean, I know that Jigsaw sort of IS a Joker/Two Face knockoff, but there's so many ways to play it. Ledger's Joker'll be amazing all right, but I'd like to see something different from P:WZ!

Which is kinda funny, the skull is really the most comic booky thing about the Punisher (which is why there's no skull in the '89 Punisher), and after the blog about how it's not gonna be ultra real and gritty and more like a comic book on screen. And then to just fade out the skull out so much.

There is a rule regarding trailers not showing guns being pointed directly at someone (see the Indiana Jones 4 trailer for Ray Winstone's digital pants).

I've heard that somewhere too. There also used to be a rule that you couldn't show a gun pointed at someone's head in the same scene. You could show the gun. You could show the head, but not at the same time. Hollywood had/has some weird rules. I just figured they were pointing at Jigsaw and his goons.

And aren't they pulling guns out in the next milisecond-long clip? Besides, Jigsaw's crew have their heat out. Maybe the other guys are just accusing him of something, and are pointing at him. There is a dead guy in the background there, after all. Jigsaw's probably to blame.

Well the skull is obviously painted on. There as also been some parts in the comic books where is isn't wearing the skull. So who knows. Even Tom Jane wasn't wearing a skull in every single scene.

I know, but the skull is the most comic book thing about the Punisher, like I said about the direction they took the film into, and then having the skull be so faded (and glow in the dark) is kinda funny.
It's like this is a COMIC BOOOOK! (but a bright white skull is too much)

I still don't like the Skull even though it is supposed to be more realistic (if that is in fact the case). It is small, barely visible and unimposing. That Skull should be the visible sign for the person who sees it, that they are about to face their impending demise. It is symbolic. Diminishing it because it is the only "comic bookish element" is just ridiculous. Even the Thomas Jane film displayed the Skull with some pride. Just not all the time. I don't care if he wears the Skull frequently (even in the Marvel Max books, he's stopped wearing the Skull frequently), I just want it to look imposing and detailed. Not faded and like an after thought.

The skull should be featured more and not faded. That's like the "S" on superman's chest being faded. Yeah, I know it's for warzone purposes, but in pitch black darkness I doubt a bright skull will be seen. Plus in the last posted pick of Stevenson as Frank, it looks like the skull is brighter, which is good but I don't like it. One of the eyes is bigger than the other. It looks like the skull is doing to peoples eyebrow or something.
This faded stuff is non-sense, just show the damn skull. Of course overtime people are going to know of the skull symbol kill, but it's not like he can't wear a jacket to cover it up.

Well, the glowing skull bit is written in the script, and the old mob boss apparently sees it glow somehow. Then again they might just edit it out of the film, which isn't uncommon for trailers to have scenes that don't end up in the film.

That's what baffles me. A large white Skull seems too outlandish, but this version of the Punisher is willing to get glow in the dark paint so he can lose the element of surprise? He's a vigilante...not a Mardigras participant. But all said and done, the actual movie looks impressive. No better or worse than the previous film iteration with Thomas Jane (though I like that movie too).

i noticed that too the first time i saw it. I dont think that it will make it into the movie, although i remember someone saying that it was in the actual script...so you never know. it is corny, but I like the line too. I also liked the 'God's going to sit this one out." line too. Sometimes you have to have that one line where you roll your eyes. It could be worse. It could be the toad getting hit by lighting line from X-Men. by far the corniest line ever uttered in a comic book movie.
Arach Knight

Though it is Blasphemy, the line is very fitting. I wouldn't deem it corny at all. Frank is pretty much the only real hero in the Marvel Universe. I'm not saying the other guys don't do great things. And obviously I am primarily a Spidey fan. But the thing about other heroes is they fight aliens, giant monsters and thugs. Frank does deal with thugs, but I tend to think that he deals with the scummiest people imaginable. The type who make you sad to be human. Rapists, child murderers, kidnappers etc. If anyone was entitled to think about The Most High and feel short changed, it would be Frank Castle. The man has seen an awful lot of wrong and ugly in his life.

The quote is from the Widowmaker arc. As for the trailer, i think frank should be more practical as he is in the comics, he doesn't light up flares too often, he does use nightvision tho, and i don't see him hanging upside down like a sitting duck in the comics either, he is a master strategist and should be shown this way instead of some big guy who shoots everyone up in weird ways. The punisher needs a screenplay that will take him seriously i can only hope they can pull this movie off and give frank the movie he deserves, i still can't believe he has a third movies after the other two were...well not that good, not that i didn't like tom janes punisher, but it wasn't what i was hoping for, the last gunfight was the best part.

"I still talk to God sometimes, I ask him if what I'm doing is right or wrong. I'm still waiting for an answer, and until i get one, I'll be waiting, watching... and the guilty will be punished."
This line is from the 1989 Punisher movie. it was the last line of the movie.

It'll have violence in spades. If that's all you really want out of a Punisher movie, you'll be happy with it. I still don't think the story quite got there. Even with the rewrites it still looks about the same.

Violence is all well and good, i want it to be punisher violence not Shoot Em Up violence, the best part of the punisher is that he is a real person who uses his iron will, experience, determination and unwavering commitment to take on the underworld. A perfect punisher movie would be a combination of a few of the max arc's,Born with frank struggling against his darkness, parts of tyger where he goes on his first mission, and the whole story line from In The Beginning would make for a great movie, great back and forth between frank and micro and reasoning behind franks "madness". Also there are some great battles. And the last scene is a great way to end the movie, and before the credits have a black screen that says "Frank Castle: whereabouts unknown"

Maybe they took some liberties with the character. They do have one of the guys from The Slavers arc acting as a weapons dealer or something to that degree.
However, we'll probably need a longer clip to see what he's really doing. Maybe he's mocking him, or maybe that's just what Keram Sanchez's face looks like when he yells!

I can definitely handle criticism. I criticize as well. If I don't like a movie, even if I haven't seen it yet, I will criticize it... but not over and over again saying the same thing. It looks to me like they are doing all the neon-esque stuff for the scenes that happen at night. The redband footage had a lot of daytime sort of stuff in it that wasn't neon at all, so I think it's a safe bet that the day time stuff will look more "normal" and the night time shots will have that neon look.

We keep hearing it was a music video or something though. It's probably not going to be playing throughout the movie, and the real music, hopefully, will not be a disturbed/drowning pool fest, and have an actual score.
Although, I thought the 'music video' trailer's music got better towards the end, especially when he was in the graveyard. The actual trailer needed better scoring, the first one sounded better, although it didn't really look at good.

meh, i dont think this one will have as good a story as th first. seems like just mindless killing
citizenpain

the trailer is supposed to emphasize the violence and killing (it's not mindless, this is the punisher) because that's what's been missing from the punisher films so far, and that's what appeals to action audiences.
there obviously is a story... there's the weapon smuggling, there's jigsaw's origin, there's the fbi, the punisher task force, angela donatelli and the little girl, budiansky and soap, microchip, and so on.
people just love to focus on the negative. what about the graveyard sequence in the music video? i found that part to be very emotional, especially frank breathing heavily as he has a flashback... anyway... this should really be in the trailer thread. :woot:

i'm guessing you mean the 2004 tom jane punisher? cuz that'd be the second technically. anyway, i'd rather it be a lot better than that, because the story in 04 wasn't all that good. the family reunion massacre and pretty much anything involving the saints was all lame in my eyes... still a decent film... but i think this one is going to be the best one so far.

neither was the raised webbing on venom. Nor was the leather suits in x-men, or even the fact that Joker wears makeup. it all works out in th end

The skull is alright, it's grown on me, it's just it's too faded. The skull is suppose to be there to be bullseye for the people shooting at Frank. They even do that in the '04 when the guy is standing point blank next to Castle and instead of going for a head shot he puts 2 square in the vest.

Well to be fair,Batman don't have a bright yellow bat on his chest no more.Plus I love the new skull:)And I love the 04 skull too:)I guess they wanted to skull to look like he had it for a while. And by the skull being faded the bad guys can't see him coming, there is nothing scarier then bumping into Frank in a dark room.:unishr:

But this one is closer to the comics:)I still watch and own the others on DVD:)Like I still watch hill have eyes(1977)and part 2(1985 even though it was film in 83 but Wes ran out of money so he finish it later) and the remakes.I have all of them on DVD,even though I don't really like the two Punisher. What made them watchable is they have scenes that is very Punisher like.So I guess, I will always have a soft spot for them in my heart:):word:

I'm pretty sure that's not the picture we saw way back in the day, but it looks somewhat similar. The original one didn't have him with guns crossed, did it? Plus, it wasn't nearly as shadowy.
I think it looks neat, the poster is all lit up and has a big plastic border so they will have to display it prominently at movie theatres, but I think they should have chosen one of the other pictures for the actual poster in the middle. They look more menacing. Hopefully they'll still find their way into theatres too.
