Seriously, what the hell was Josh Smith thinking?
Denver's about to advance, good for them.
Denver & Dallas will be an entertaining matchup.

So what does everyone think of Denver/Dallas? How many games? Last time Dallas beat San Antonio they went to the Finals. My boss thinks Denver will beat Dallas in 5 games.
I'd say Dallas would win in 7. Denver is looking very strong and I'm sure Detroit is kicking themselves for letting Billups leave.

I'm under the impression now that the Denver Nuggets have the most tattooed roster in the league :hehe: Or if someone could direct me in the right direction :funny:
And another West matchup series is closed, yet the East (other than the kings of the regular season) have yet to do so. This is proof that the East, yes, they know drama.

I've been really impressed by the Nuggets...their starting line-up is playing terrific but what's even more noticible is the contribution by Chris Andersen's defence, rebounding and high% scoring and J.R.Smith complete offensive assault.
If they can get a constant performance for these entire playoffs i woudnt be surprised by anything, even a title.
They can certainly hold their own with the Lakers and the Cavs.

They've been playing clips of this fool's "work" on local radio since the series began 8 months ago - calling their coach "Little Spoelstra" and Heat players thugs (what about Josh Smith's pushing off Magloire from behind a few games ago and then basically challenging him to fight last night? Hmm) My favorite so far is how he said Wade & the Heat bench were celebrating like they had won the NBA title after a few big shots in game 2, but again, he has nothing to say about a Hawks player spazzing out at the end of the 1st half last night. I'm all for homer announcers, but this guy takes it to a whole new level. Doesn't seem very informed as far as the game itself goes, either.

Like I said, they need to put this game in the vault and show a repeat of this game every single day. Teams today have gotten lazy, complacent, and have no passion for the game and this series has proven that the old school mentality and hunger hasn't died.
I loved how they let the players play and it wasn't decided by questionable officiating.

NBA games are all about matchups, and for some reason Blazers are a better matchup against Lakers. However, while I believe Lakers will win the 2nd round, Rockets are a talented team and it will probably get to game 6; it won't be a short series.

I don't know why but I really don't see Houston competeing with LA. To many matchup problems. Oddly enough Houston would benefit from having T-Mac. Because Gasol/Bynum will eat Yao alive, & Artest can only hope to contain Kobe.
i agree, the lakers pose some big problems and their overall length is huge. if odom has a good series, this series will be over in 5 in favor of the lakers.
what is bs is gasol and bynum "eating yao alive". is this some joke? if they double, sure, they'll contain yao. if they try bynum on yao, he'll foul out in no time and gasol is too small to guard him by himself. no one can guard yao ming one on one; gasol and bynum can only hope to match his production or limit it by doubling.

I don't know if overrated is the word I'd use, but you're in the neighborhood. What did Doc do in Boston prior to KG and Ray Allen coming to town? The Celtics did well in his first season, but he followed that with 2 straight losing seasons, winning only 33 games in '05 & 24 in '06. He was on the hot seat (as was Ainge) before they pulled the strings to get Pierce a couple of playmates, and now he's considered one of the best in the NBA? I'm not buying that so much, though I do think he is a good coach overall.

If Garnett's injury had presented itself as serious earlier, you might have seen Larry Legend offer up ...

Reports: NBA to Tap LeBron as MVP (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/2009/news/story?id=4135263)
The NBA will announce LeBron James as its MVP on Monday, The Plain Dealer of Cleveland and Associated Press have reported, citing unnamed sources.
A day before the Cleveland Cavaliers begin their second-round series against the Atlanta Hawks, the league will anoint James, 24.
The announcement will be made at James' alma mater, St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio, the reports said. The Cavaliers called a news conference for 4 p.m. ET but didn't specify the nature of the event.
His Cavaliers teammates were expected to attend.
James, whose Cavaliers swept the Detroit Pistons in the first round of the playoffs, averaged 28.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.2 assists during the regular season, his sixth in the NBA, in which Cleveland won a team-record 66 games and earned the top overall seed in the playoffs.
The Cavs host Atlanta on Tuesday after the Hawks finished off the Miami Heat in Game 7 of their first-round series Sunday.
James, who will become the first Cavaliers player to win the award, finished second in voting for defensive player of the year.
At 24 years, 106 days, he will be the youngest player to win the award since Moses Malone (24 years, 16 days) in 1978-79. Wes Unseld was 23 when he won it in 1968-69.
Focused from the start of the 2008-09 season, the 6-foot-8, 250-pound James sharpened his magnificent skills this season.
He started a career-high 81 games and set personal bests in field-goal (49) and free-throw (79) percentages. James became just the second player to post five straight seasons of at least 27 points, six rebounds and six assists. The other is Oscar Robertson, whose well-rounded game is the one James' is most often compared.
James was in a three-way battle all season with Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant and Miami's Dwyane Wade for MVP honors. The trio -- teammates last summer on the U.S. Olympic team that won gold -- seemed to upstage each other on a nightly basis.
It's not a surprise that the loyal James would select his high school for the ceremony. It's where he won three state basketball championships and where he burst onto the national scene, becoming a cover subject for Sports Illustrated as a 17-year-old. He announced his intention to skip college in the Fighting Irish's quaint gym and recently filmed a "60 Minutes" interview there.
Another postseason award; another non-surprise. I'm of a different opinion, but there's nothing for me to hate on here. Bron Bron's season was ridiculous and he's leading a title-contending team. That's the formula. This won't be the last time this happens.
It's not like Steve Nash winning. :o

You lost me at Steve Nash. Don't be hat'in on Nashtastic.:cmad:
They really should change the name of the award, because Lebron may be on a contending team. But Wade literally the Most Valuable Player. Oh well at least Kobe didn't win.

Amazing. You've got a 20 year old PF, who's already demonstrated a knack for being able to drop 20/10 when given proper PT, a more than solid work ethic and willingness to be coached and improve and who is only going to get better. Yet, the rumor mill dictates that you should trade him for a guy you can pursue in a year anyway with all the beaucoup cap space you have coming. Let alone the fact that Beasley could very well turn out to be better than Bosh. Did I mention the kid is under contact through 2011 at a bargain basement price?

I think LeBron is definitely very deserving of MVP this year, but interestingly he got it in a year where he is surrounded by some actual talents and not just hacks like before, and in previous years I think in a way, he was even more valuable to his team because of the lack of talents.

Can't say I'm surprised about Lebron getting the MVP, it didn't hurt that the Cavs were pimping him out (e.g., the "Lebron is really, really..." site)

Cleveland will win the finals in 6 games, but not because they're the best team. They'll win due to major injuries in the East, a home field advantage(that inexplicably allows the refs to hand out phantom calls), and the leagues need to give their face a championship. They'll beat the Lakers in 6 games. It's rigged.
