I guessed the title as the picture loaded.

This movie is gonna have to be super awesome to change my pre-release opinion about it.

Is Rise of Cobra the new title? If so, I like it.

I dont, its good for a sequel title. But for the first one, it should just be G.I.Joe

That's what I thought too.

So I guess Cobra is not an established terrorist organization in this movie yet, which disappoints me. And I hope the rumor of CC brainwashing his subordinates are not true; they should be part of Cobra because they wanted to, not because they were brainwashed.

From what I've read Brainwashing is the case here. As far as this poster goes Tatum looks more like Douche than Duke.

'Rise of Cobra'?

...when will Hollywood realize that certain characters that have been around for a very long time simply need NO origin movie?

Honestly...is there anyone on the PLANET that doesnt know what COBRA and G.I. Joe are?!

You mean just about everyone outside North America, who tend to confuse G.I. Joe with Action Man? :oldrazz:

Does it matter?

COBRA = BAD.

GI JOE = GOOD.

Movie Plot = They fight!

ur right. i was a BIG G.I. Joe fan when i was a kid (yes, we had that here in the Philippines too)
i was also excited of the upcoming GI JOE movie
but sorry...
i dont think itz gonna look good
my opinion is that theyre
Schumacher-izing G.I. Joe
what with all the fancyshmansy "x-men" costumes
the original costumes are original enough... cant they just copy that?
and the casting...OH MY GOD... who's in charge of the casting? Lindsay Lohan???

They actually put the STEP-UP prissy-a$$ wuss ....as DUKE?!

I am so glad not all people think like that. If they did we would have never seen a movies like The Dark Knight, Spider-man II, 300, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Hell Boy I & II, and Sin City. We would still be stuck with Batman and Robin, Steel, Daredevil, Elektra, Ghostrider, Catwoman and countless other festering turds that line the DVD racks today.

Any time a project is undertaken and millions of dollars are spent, it should be with the intention of putting out a product of the highest possible quality.

I would say yes it does matter.

^ hahahaha ur right

the GI JOE movie has not come out yet... but its already screaming as if it needs to be rebooted ALREADY... it's not easy for the fans to see something they love, turned into garbage & bask in ultimate SUCKage... then wait for like 5 to 10 years till the movie would be rebooted the proper way

I think it's more like people have prejudged the movie to be bad based on the snippets of information we have. Sure, not everything is ideal but that doesn't mean it's going to be bad. It's kind of like a salad. Its individual ingredients may not be much or even taste nice. But when combined properly, it's pretty good.

yes. we prejudge it. but it's the kind of prejudging that's close to common sense... i mean...
DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
u put the STEP UP guy as DUKE???
alter the ALREADY-REALISTIC costumes???
Get the Van Helsing director???

it's so gonna suck, in my opinion, and in the opinion of (i dunno) ALMOST everybody here who knows something about GI JOE

im sorry... but yes, there may be that be really small benefit of the doubt...
maybe Sommers and Tatum will surprise us
..maybe
but im not really expecting that to happen

I find it really funny how everyone keeps reminding people that Tatum was in Step Up as though that's all he's ever done. That's like complaining that Heath Ledger was in '10 Things I Hate About You'. Of course, I'm not expecting Tatum to give a performance on par with Ledger's Joker but the point I'm trying to get across is that just because a certain actor has appeared in a certain type of movie before and done a certain type of character doesn't mean s/he is incapable of doing anything else. In fact, Tatum was recently in the movie Stop Loss where he also portrayed a soldier.

What I find funny is that Tatum has already played a character named "Duke" and a soldier.

Now he's playing a soldier named "Duke"

I'll just judge this flick for myself when it hits the big screens.

no no no no no
hahahahahahahahahahahaha
u got it wrong buddy

its not just Tatum per se
its the CASTING of Tatum that stinks here

Ledger's casting was more like -let's get this academy award winning actor to play an icon

it can also be compared to Travolta's casting as Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction which went more like this-
Tarantino: Hey, let's get an icon from the 70's & transform him into a bad-a5s, smart-a5s syndicate character

no no no Tatum's casting, these were done by lousy...SCHEMERS
it reeks of shallow-mindedness
the casting of Tatum smells like this:

Hey, let's get that heartthrob that teens love... that sure is gonna draw the kids in to this flick, wont it! Sure, we would turn Duke into a Justin TImberlake clone--but hey, what can those Geeks do? Complain? hahahahahahaha!!!!!

I guess after Lucius Fox resigned from Wayne Enterprises, G.I. Joe hired him as their new armor designer. :(
