That might work some places, but unfortunately in my area most TRU employees are collectors. I have NEVER seen an unmasked or Fear Toxin at TRU or Walmart. These are the first I have ever found in any store on my own.

Ok, so Matty.com posted the slides that were shown on they're Facebook page. The line will start being released September 15, with one figure coming out each month. If they stick the the outlined dates, this is the order they are being released. It's similar to what I posted before, but the holes are now filled in.


September 15: Bank Robber Joker
October 15: Proto-suit Bruce
November 15: Harvey Dent
December 15: Jail Cell Joker
January 15: Arkham Asylum Scarecrow
February 15: Final Battle Batman
March 15: Two-Face


So there you have it. We'll see what happens come September 15th.

MOTUC is worth the hassle and 20 dollar price tag--These as well as the new ghostbusters line is not.

I'm still saddened that NECA lost out to Mattel on GB. They could have at least done more ghosts.

I couldn't agree with you more. I mean obviously they are going after a select group of collector's making these online exclusives, but a part of me actually hopes they sell terribly to show Mattel that they've gone about this all wrong.

As I know others have suggested in the past, their best bet was to have both online sales, and exclusive line of stores selling this line (Toys R Us being a dead ringer).

Well I was giving an example, but I was suggesting if they were looking to cut down on costs and avoid an overage, they would sell these figures to only one company, not several. So at least this would give the option to collector's who prefer B&M purchases, over online ones.

Hahha. I just thought of something awesome--what if these things don't sell and they are forced to dump them at biglots or something like that? I really hope for their sake, that they underproduced these.

I just don't see these selling well. With all of the pain and suffering we all went through last year just to get a few of these--at 12 dollars these were overpriced figures. At 20 plus?--forget it. Just the fact that they didn't double up on these and sell them as 2 packs makes me bitter as hell. It's not happening.

Nearly all of the TDK hype that initally drove this line is LONG GONE. Plus you now have a heavily embittered fanbase who hates you, and your line, and resents the hell out of your brazen attempt to bilk an additonal 20 bucks per figure out of them.

Well I just ordered the Egon with slimer ghostbusters figure off of Mattycollector.com last night. They went on sale early because last i checked comic con exclusives were going on sale on August 8th. I guess Mattel couldnt fight the urge to rip people off early. The figure came out to $28.70 after shipping!!! I had 2 ready for purchase but knocked it down to 1 after seeing the price. Its almost as if mattycollector.com is the new Ebay. It sucks!!!! Oh and i didnt receive not a single email notification about the comic con items going on sale early even though i have signed up 3 times on the damn website. Mattel is really on my **** list.

Its a combination of 2 things. The WB licensing department and Mattels distribution. Mattel is a very poor toy company, I knew back when they took the license form Hasbro we would be in trouble. Their track record is horrible when it comes to action figures and dolls. I just find it amazing that the reason WB gave the license to Mattel was because hasbro wasnt doing anything "new" with the Batman lines. They were just releasing repaints and the occasional new figure. WB wanted them to continue with new lines, but Hasbro said until they have something to support it, they wouldnt. Enter Mattel. What I find so funny about this is, even with what Hasbro was doing, we were still getting more product than what Mattel has put out with the support of 2 movies and a cartoon series.

As for the video game. Who the hell knows on that one.

Totally agree with you. And that is a good idea for a custom Bruce Wayne figure.
The fact that Egon came out to $28.70 for just one baffles me. Im sure this will be the price point for the MM's. If this is the case i will be getting 2 of each accept for the proto suit bats which like you i will be getting 3 and only 1 or each of scarecrow and Sonar Bats.

Didn't I say this would be the price? :oldrazz: Ghostbusters are considered part of the MM line.

Small scale? no accessories? You really cannot justify the 28+ price tag. With the MOTUC line--you have bigger, better made figures that come with accessories and have first rate sculpts and paint (most of the time with paint--I've definitely seen some ****ups).

i personally wonder where it is they go from here,though....the GB figures are under the Movie Masters umbrella,as will be the eventual releases of 12" Superman and Zod...while TDK is done,can the line actually flourish with other licences...

Ghostbusters will be around for awhile,with plans for multiple versions of them,plus a Walter Peck,we could see a lot of supporting characters....

Superman....honestly,the 12" Reeve looks like ****,but the fact they do have his likeness rights makes me hope for a possible 6" line of Supes stuff next year...

i have some small hope that if TDK figures do sell enough,perhaps somewhere down the road they might revisit the licence and give us figures we need,like the solicited-then-cancelled Gordon,Ra's,Ducard,etc...

and,of course,the big question: will we ever get any MM figures from the Burton/Schumacher movies?....there's never been any word on whether this is or isn't something Mattel wants to do,but i know the 4H want the task...

Well I think Mattel will give The Dark Knight line a break which in my mind they shouldnt. And hopefully they will begin work on the Burton and horrible Schumacher batman figures for the movie masters line. Like you said the ghostbusters figures will be around for a while especially if they officially go forward with a third film which would be great. Hopefully after they give the dark knight a break by working on the burton schumacher bat figs they will return to the Knight and give us the gordan, Ra's, Ducard, ninja bruce, luscious, alfred, Tumbler well i could just go on and on. Maybe Mattel will come to there senses some time in the near future but im not counting on it.

You're probably right. Most obsessive collector's won't balk at the high prices, and with smaller runs Mattel has less risk...a Gordon, Alfred, or Bruce MM would be nice.

You're absolutely right! Mattel has no excuses now that The dark knight is Matty exclusive. We collectors should be able to get what we want so this definitely does shed some light on the whole "the line will die after these". Mattel has had such huge success with the collector community. Look at DCUC line, Ghostbusters, Masters of the universe, and now The Dark knight. I strongly believe Mattel will go forward with this line as long as their making a buck. And if your a collector like me who just loves the dark knight movie masters line no matter what crap has happened in between then we will buy every figure that is made. Again they already have the basic molds all they need are new hands, shoes, and heads and hopefully some damn accessories for a change. They do the same thing with the DCUC line, ghostbusters and He-man. All Mattel does is sculpt a new head, different paint job to match the character,add some different hands and feet and volia you have a new figure. And collectors eat up those figures when in reality they are just buying the same figure over and over and over again. Of course you have the few acceptions like the build a figure but then again you have to buy the whole wave to get an actual different sculpted figure that you piece together. Its pretty ridiculous but Mattel gets away with it and we continue to buy. Again this was also done with The Secret Wars figures that Mattel release back in i thing 1984 or 85 and they did the same thing. They use the same body just change the head,give the figure a new paint job, new accessories and hands. Its so cost efficient for Mattel its ridiculous! But bottom line is the figures look great and we love to collect them. So in the end, if Mattel does with The Dark Knight movie masters what they do with DCUC, and Ghostbusters and He-man then the line could go on for quite some time and into different films as well.

Bank robber joker will be the first figure released on September 15th and there after on every 15th of the month we will get a new figure all the way up to March 15th which will be two-face. So they start the wave with Bank Robber Joker and end it with Two-Face. Not bad if you ask me.

Glad you guys are enjoying the review, well for the most part. BLU8 i saw that on the back with the two different coins. Pretty cool. I cant wait for these to be released. I agree with Spidey on that their to expensive but hey i dont have to pay for gas driving all over town looking for them. Thanks Sabetoonth. And yes they are expensive but they are only expensive now because we were used to paying $12 bucks for them when they came out at the ****** retailers. The same ****** retailers that took almost a year to start actually putting Movie masters out on their pegs. Unless you were one of the lucky ones like me to get them on May 1st 2008! So finally the retailers realize that this line is making money and then they ordered a huge amount and Mattel overproduces the figures because for the most part all of the collectors have been satisfied. It really sucks but this is why these figures are now online exclusives. So the same stores stores that ordered these late are now the exact reason why they are Matty exclusives. So we can thank Walmart, target, and toys r us for the price hike.

But like i said before, i start to think about all of the trouble i went through to find the demon batman variant and i thank god that these are online exclusives now. Just so much easier.

@ Daxceon. Bank Robber Joker was pushed to an October 15th Release date because Mattel couldnt get there crap together. As far as international postage im not sure on that. Hope this helps.

There's a reason HT stuff is more expensive, to compare the two is ridiculous, they're two entirely different entities. Compare MM's to a similar product, i.e. a six inch tall plastic action figure of equal quality, and they are way overpriced, by about 10-15 bucks.
BTW, the average cost of a HT TDK figure is $140, not $200.And worth every penny, unlike the MM's.

Hey its like I said I bought most of the first wave of the movie masters... I also picked up Hottoys TwoFace Bank Robber Joker DX Joker DX Batman and V1 Joker... I have TwoFace and Bank Robber Joker right now... Both cost about 165 a piece and are amazing pieces... Now getting back to why I think the Movie Masters have become rip offs now... Your final total if bought the whole set and Im just estimating here would be about the same as one of Hottoys... Cant tell me it worth it...

You would think that Mattel would have priced them right around $14.99 atleast to be closer to the retail price when they originally came out. Oh and sorry about that comment earlier about living under a rock. I just figured everyone had been reading this damn blog like me all the time for updates lol. Didnt mean any disrespect man. Arkhum scarecrow, and sonar bats are by far the worst of the bunch. Screw Mattel. Seriously, I hate the idea that these things are $20 a piece and I hate that they're $8 shipped but I bit the bullet anyhow and what happens? My order's shipping method switches to overnight so now I'm dropping $52 on this crap? I'm really debating whether or not to order this one. I know I want the Two-Face for sure. I'd also like the Arkham Asylum Scarecrow, Bank Robber Joker, & Jail Cell Joker. However, with shipping, it comes to $29 per figure, which is, needless to say, completely ridiculous. For that price, I'd expect at least 3-4 decent accessories with each figure.

So the debate in my head is, do I want to get any of the others besides Two-Face, & if so, which ones should I choose? If only I could trip over a pile of money that no one wanted...

Thats becasue the jokers sold at retail, these wont go down past what you can get them for at mattycollector, which is $20. These are ONLY being sold through matty. The only reason the jokers sold that much for in the first place is for all the pieces of **** looking to make a quick buck off of a death.
So unless you got one before they sell out at matty, expect to pay MORE than $20 gauranteed.

And by "exactly" I mean "exactly the opposite". Tyler's right, Matty stuff can end up going for double or triple what it initially was. No one's going to be reselling them for cheap, they're going to ask at least what they paid for it in the first place (otherwise, what's in it for them?).

Will some of these ultimately end up on ebay for a reasonable price? Probably, yeah, especially the repaints. But the rest, not so likely.

I'm not sure if you think bulk orders get them cheaper or something, or whatever the case, but the matty tdk figs will not be cheaper than what someone has to pay for them. I completely agree with you sty. I love the fact that i can just click and purchase it instead of all of the driving around and hunting for these. I got 2 of em and am very pleased with the sculpt and articulation. @ BLU8, His crime scene evidence is a joke man. its the sad face clown mask that came with the thug. I really wish they made an accessory pack.

Luckily/unluckily, I tried to get the McFarlene Robo-Cop figure like a year ago. Each one broke had a limb break off trying to pose them. After 4 tried and about $200 later, I gave up and left the last one in the case.

Even though they were broken, I saved the figures along with the Robo-gun. Just did a quick mod with a swiss army knife, and presto. I have a Bank Robber Joker with a gun.

"gives me happies" I LOL'ed at this. Anyways. If the gun is really an issue, you can definitely buy gun accessories from any action figure on ebay. I somehow have kept all my accessories so far ( I have at LEAST 200 action figures in the 6 inch scale, since 2003). I move every 8 months it seems so I dont know how Ive held on to all their stuff. At any rate, people sell this stuff on ebay. Just saying. About the suit being "light to medium gray" Is it really that big of a deal? Looking at the toy, the color scheme really doesnt seem that far off. Not trying to start an argument, but I'd be content with it.

I think they did a pretty good job with this one actually. I mean, it still is just the Thug with a different mask and paint, but the details are nice. The weathering on the mask is improved over the original Thug and they did a decent job on the shirt pattern. BruceWayne is right - the suit is a shade or 2 lighter than the original. Still no weapon/accessories - I gave him a gun that I had painted - but I'm glad I have him.

You already know that initially the plan was to offer one new figure per month at MattyCollector.com. Thanks to you, loyal Dark Knight fans, sales have been so good that we're feeling confident enough to increase production and also bring the line to Toys "R" Us in the spring.
The good news is that you'll be able to walk into your local Toys "R" Us and find The Dark Knight figures. The even better news? You'll still be able to get them at MattyCollector.com and because of the increased production numbers, we'll be reducing the price to just $15 each!
Here's how it'll go down: The Joker as Gotham City Thug figure started out here on MattyCollector.com, and will continue to be a MattyCollector.com exclusive as long as we've got stock. The remaining six figures in the line will be available here first, one each month for the new price of $15 each. Matty will sell them online first. Then starting in the spring they will release them at Toys R us exclusively. By the Spring they will be on Arkham Scarecrow online then in May Two face. Im sure they will break down the cases into two waves with different revisions just like they did with the initial figures. Basically They are shipping toys r us whatever doesnt sell on mattycollector.com. Finally they dropped the price of the figures and i can get them first online then get extras at toys r us when they come out. And for completists out there they now have to order BRjoker from matty because its exlusive to them. Not a bad statagy by Mattel. And youre right Mikey sales werent good and this is the reason they are doing this. Mattel of course is not going to state that sales were bad and this is the reason behind this decision, there not that stupid. All in all this helps everyone out that wants to complete there sets. Either you do it online or you wait till spring and run around to every toys r us trying to complete your set. Its entirely up to you now.

I think it makes them look stupid. They can neck articulation so that you can pose them that way yourself if so desired. But these modern figs can barely look straight ahead and forget about looking up.
