well, the train has run out of steam...my TRU has had 2 Dent's, 2 Scarecrow's, 1 Sonar Bats, and 2 Proto Suit Wayne's for almost 2 months now, with nothing new coming in to refresh the pegs since then....
guess TRU has got all their allotments in...
waiting for them to go on clearance again...gonna buy a Wayne to customize into the original proto suit look, with the see-through parts before he spraypainted it....and another Dent,to try and make a custom Tony Stark using the head that comes with the 6" Mark IV figure...
Yeh, my TRUs store opened up an Express inside the mall for the upcoming holiday season and they had 3 pegs full of all the figs. I looked at each one and put each one back. Number one because I dont collect figs anymore, and 2, who cares about these?
Finally got a Two-Face movie masters figure. Had to get it from someone on Ebay, never found it in the stores.

TDK movie masters might be over, but the ghostbusters movie masters has some awsome things coming out.

TRU in Wilkes-Barre,PA. just restocked the pegs with more...saw 3 Two-Face's,Dent's, JC Joker, everything....

Ya know i noticed the same thing at my local toys r us. They stocked what looks like maybe x2 cases of the dent, scarecrow, sonar bats wave. I thought it was odd considering i havent seen these in months around my parts. All my toys r us stores had left were clearanced out scarecrows.
Well even if batman movie masters are done, green lantern MM's will show up soon enough. And i spotted the Ghostbuster 2 MM 4-pack the other day as well. Very cool.

I saw those today. Way cool, but 60 bucks is just way too much for a 4 pack of figures.

Welcome to, Better Class of Toyline is Jericho! lol I guess it's better when he does it. I figured I'd make my return to the forum with this: Movie Masters-The Dark Knight Rises edition!
mikey1974
11-02-2010, 09:42 AM
yep,The Dark Knight Rises Movie Masters!
they better be coming!
based upon what was said, and what are rumors, the initial cast lineup appears to be:
Batman/Bruce Wayne
Jim Gordon
Alfred Pennyworth
Sgt. Harvey Bullock
Killer Croc
POSSIBLY Scarecrow
...sadly,i don't see too many figures coming out of that...i can see something like:
Series 1:
Batman
Killer Croc
Jim Gordon
CHASE : Battle-Damaged Batman
Series 2:
Batman - perhaps a new suit?
perhaps a different Croc look ,suit or something
Harvey Bullock
CHASE: Batman with Bruce head
unless they throw us a surprise, and there's more than one villian in there....

This is just wild speculation. This "wish list" paraded as real helps and entertains no one. We don't even know what Hardy is playing and despite rumour based on a supposed location I doubt that Killer Croc will make any kind of appearance, the idea - based on what we know of Nolan - is ridiculous. Croc has no place in Nolan's world - Of the two big fighting characters Bane, maybe at a stretch and I mean snapping the elastic band. I don't see how people can even think Nolan would used Croc or Bane for that matter, look at the last two films, it is clear that both would stick out from the series established rogues.
I just don't see the point of posting that Mattel will definately make a Gordon, Croc and Bullock when two of those characters aren't even confirmed and one of them isn't exactly what the general public are asking for.
Sure the collectors want a Gordon but let's face it the Movie Masters are Children's toys parading as collectors items, I really like them as figures and the detail is great but its true. Slap a "collector" tag on something and you double your sales through ebay scalpers alone.
Back on topic though, you might as well say that wave one will have Mister Myxlplyx and the Ratcatcher in for all the good it will do you. By all means make a wish list but don't brand it with, "These will be in the toyline. I have no doubt, based on these empty rumours."
Rant gone.

Bane and Croc are just as doable as Two Face and Joker. But this isnt that thread for that

Since the movie masters were constantly sold out while the regulars rotted on the shelves, hopefully mattel rethinks it's strategy a bit this time.

But with Joker and Two-face we have to well known characters who look a lot like how they should. If a guy came up covered in scales or wearing a Lucha mask it would look stupid and if they wanted to ground these characters in realism they would have to stripped those components away. Have them in business suits? I think not this time. So why not have them as random bulky thug 1 and bulk 2? Don't get me wrong these characters have their place in the Batman mythos. What the real issue is here is that people want Batman to have a physical challenge because so far he has just kicked everyone around without any hassle. That's the meat and veg of the rumours. But we all know what happens when someone tries to pull a "mine is bigger than your's film" *Cough* Iron Man 2 *Cough* That kind of movie comes off as a very dated formula for a film, but hey I might still eat my words, Nolan may do something terribly stupid and use these characters but I don't think he will. I mean come on Killer Croc? Laugh out loud. Just because they might film some parts of it in New Orleans. You know they could just mean studios? Thats what they did in Green Lantern. But anyway I have taken this way off topic.
Now that I have ticked you all royally off why not have a look at my attempts at making some canon Movie Master Toys.

the hottest rumors at the moment are:
Killer Croc or Clayface will be the villian
Bullock will be in it
Julie Madison will be the love interest
Lt. Sarah Essen will be in it
Nolan said to expect everyone, still alive,to come back...so i'll ASSUME that means Batman,Gordon,Lucius,Alfred, and possibly Scarecrow will be back...
NO WHERE did i say Mattel will definitely make any of these characters...just making up my own thought-list of what i think, based upon who may be in the movie, and past release trends by Mattel, of what i THINK TDKR Movie masters will end up as....
holy ****! calm down....

There have been no actual evidence of any kind supporting either Croc or Clayface.
The Croc rumors surfaced only because of the filming being done in New Orleans. Even though it's 99% likely that they're only filming in N.O. because Green Lantern did, and WB apparently liked it. Besides, if they were filming in a swamp, it could just as easily be Solomon Grundy. Maybe I'll start that rumor!
....
Did you hear Solomon Grundy is going to be in TDKR?

Green Lantern Movie Masters will be the litmus test,i think....if they can get them into stores with no recalls,no shortages beyond the usual scalper fodder, and make more than 2 series' ,then i can have some possible faith that maybe they won't **** up the Dark Knight Rises line...
if,however,it's more of the same, then i know we have no hope...

Mattel really screwed up with the Dark Knight line. but thus far they have been doing a good job with Ghostbusters, so i am hopeful they can do just as good a job with Dark Knight Rises figures

You were the one that made that wonderful dishonor guard Joker! My god man that thing was brilliant! Would you ever consider doing one of those for comission?

Is anyone else having terrible trouble finding a Missle launcher Joker or a Two Face? My girlfriend bought me the Scarecrow in his suit figure from a TRU in Colorado, but there was no sign of the other two. That was actually the second TRU she went to, and the first one had no Movie Masters at all.

Thanks, man. Right now I'm not doing commissions, it's too much hassle for both parties. Particularly for that "Dishonor Guard Joker" I made. So much of that was sourced from figures I can't even remember but what I do recall was that they were hard to find or would be now. Then there is the whole shipping issue, which - me being in the UK - isn't ideal. The pressure of a deadline isn't fun either.
What was great about it though was how easy it was compared to my other stuff and how much better it looked too. It was - at the end of the day - a basic head swap with some painting. Not like the sculpting of hair and faces on my other stuff.
I'll gladly help anyone who wants to make a figure like the ones I've made. I can give tips and explain what I did but to be honest I don't tend to work within a plan, I just wing it and so far I've been happy with my stuff.

I would be all up for getting some pointers from you, I think I've found someone who has made the head you used for that figure, so with a head all I would need was a base body and so on. Any help you could give me on it would be greatly appreciated.

I hope they make the next batch of movie figures for TDK Rises in 3 3/4 inch scale like they are doing for all movie lines now, and I hope given that size of the figures they can go back and make figures for BEGINS, and TDK in that scale ala what Hasbro has done with Iron Man and Iron Man 2.

With the prices of oil, thus plastic in this economy, you will more than likely see 3.75 inch figures. It seems the big companies are going towards that scale more and more.
