I've been having trouble finding the Gotham Thug, I've not seen it once. :whatever: Well, today luck changed completly. I had to go to a little town today for work, so I stopped at their Wal Mart. They had 2 pegs of Batman figures, but in the very back of the top peg, a Thug! :woot:

So I picked him up, and then on the way home, I stopped at another WM, and hit the jackpot. All the Thug variants. :woot: So I picked up the Bozo mask version, and returned the other one. It had the mask of the Henchmen figure (which name escapes me!). When I checked out, the girl at the counter told me that the figure was preety cool and that she loved the Joker. I had to tell her about evrything Joker related I've done, LOL.

I have a couple of questions about the MM Gotham City thug figures. I've seen about four different versions, I was wondering, are they all the same body with different heads? What kind of weapons do they have?

As mikey1974 said, all of the GC Thugs are the exact same figure. The only thing that differs among them are the police evidence bank robbery clown masks. There are 5 variants:

Chuckles
Grumpy (the same mask the figure is wearing)
The Joker/Bozo
The School Bus Driver
Spare

Also, the Thug does not come with any weapons or accessories, unfortunately.

I like the MMs, but it's a real annoyance that none of them come with any accessories (except for Joker's little knife).

For the price, they should each come with a buttload of them. Joker could've come with his handgun, machine gun, shotgun, etc (if his hands were even molded to hold them), Batman a couple of batarangs, etc.

Two-Face really needs his pistol.

I've been looking for something exactly like that. I've found some weapon/accessory lots on eBay but most of them contained mostly junk. Should keep an eye out in dollar stores though, good call.

They could probably put out a Batmobile that was the same way, just a nicely sculpted piece of plastic, no fringes. It probably wouldn't have to cost more than $50, which I would gladly pay for a big ass Tumbler.

That's what I love most about the MM Bat-pod, no crappy sculpt-ruining action features. There's no doubt in my mind that during the Bat-pod meeting at Mattel, there was some guy who said "But it doesn't DO anything!". We very easily could have ended up with 2 giant orange "missiles" and the front of what is one of the most detailed and accurate mass market toys out there.

i think an MM batmobile would be kind of unneeded, because the 5 inch scale version is actually pretty close to the actual size, only its a teeny bit smaller but not by much really. and seriously, do you HAVE to be able to put a MM batman in the batmobile?

I have that and yeah it's pretty close to the right size I guess. You can just barely fit an MM Batman in there, but I don't really see the point of that either, there are no windows or anything to be able to tell he's inside. It would be nice to have a MM quality sculpt though, sans light & sound effects and stupid missile launchers that pop out the sides.

I have two thugs now, one displayed and one MOC. I found the Joker mask thug starting at like 7.00 on ebay, but I thought I would just wait until the Bank Robbery Joker thug to come out in March. Oh and it's not a movie master but I bought the 5 inch assortment Two Face from ebay for about 16.00. I figured that was pretty good considering he would cost me more than that if you factor in all the gas I'd be burning up looking for him in stores.

Yup. Here's what I use for weapons:

ML Pistols. The generic Toybiz ML pistol came with several figures including Punisher, Deadpool, etc.

Deathstroke's pistol! The recent DCUC Deathstroke came with a pistol.

NECA figures. Many NECA figures come with lifelike guns from the Reservoir Dogs figures to the Sin City line (which has a wide variety!) I've outfitted all three of my loose thugs.

The great thing is figures like Deathstroke, deadpool, Punisher etc that come with too many guns in the first place so you have extra to outfit your thugs.

And I hate to double post but that is NOT a good price seeing as it's loose and with shipping comes to around $20. You can get a carded one in the store for $10ish. I found him recently at Kmart. Last week Kmart had a sale where MMs were $8 each. Much more affordable.

Yea, the paint jobs are a lil different. On first version, the paint was like a dull black, and on the new version its, got shiny areas. You gotta put them up next to each other to really see the difference. Still the same figure tho.

RECIPE: 1 Gotham City Thug, 1 Scarecrow and a tie from whatever you've got lying around. I used a WWE Stevie Richards figure that had a tie. Just togive you a heads up, I had some trouble cracking open the thug body, total pain in the arse but thankfully all the imperfections are hidden underneath the coat

...and tons of both Batmen,so i got another Thug to make a Scarecrow custom,left all the rest....should be noted that every TDK Batman there was in the kicking pose...

When you take the Thug's hands off and replace them with Scarecrow's Do you have to do any glueing? Or do they just pop on and off?

If you heat them up first with hot water, they should just pop off and on. Unless you break them, you won't need to glue them. Just be careful.

I was really into collecting the Movie Masters line and made two Joker customs that I was going to keep for my collection but I recently found out that my dog needs to have surgery so these are now on ebay. The regular one's head has been completely repainted like it was in the movie and I added some extra hair to make it look a bit messier. I was quite surprised how nice the head sculpt actually was, it's hard to tell with the crappy factory paint job.

The second one is a bank robber Joker made from a Thug this one was fun to make. I used the original thugs head and completely resculpted it, the only things I didn't touch were the eyes and ears, the rest is sculpted with green stuff. The shirt was a pain to paint, I couldn't paint the diamonds so I ended up making them into circles.

Well, when you think about it, most of Batman's villains wear suits. Joker, Two-Face, Scarecrow (in the movies), Penguin, Riddler, Black Mask, Ventriloquist.

Even Ra's, if they made a figure of him, would likely be in his black suit from the finale. Unless they made him in his League armor.

Whoever asked about the Chases on Black Friday, no that is not verified, I just thought that there would be a good chance, since that's the biggest shopping day of the year. Also, on my end, I went back to Kmart and found absolutely nothing, however went to Wal-Mart, and they had about a dozen Scarecrows, 4 Jokers, lots of the Bust a move Batman, BB Batman, and plenty of Thugs with Joker mask. So I picked me up a Thug with Joker mask. Now I need the Chases and the Batpod and I'll have the complete first waves of Movie Masters. Now, onward into January when Arkham Asylum Scarecrow and Final Battle Batman will be released. Can't wait. I'm even more excited about the Two Face that should hit in March.

I would'nt believe that just yet my friend. From what I've seen, theres a Unmasked "kicking pose" Batman out there somewhere and thats pretty recent. I'm not too sure about Fear Toxin Bats tho. I think they're still shipping those figures, just in very limited quantities, but now you really have to "chase" them if you want one bad enough. As if they weren't hard to come across the first time...

***FEAR GAS BATMAN POSSIBLY RESHIPPING??***

While I have no solid proof to confirm this, as of a couple days ago the Fear Toxin Batman was no where to be found and ebay had very few. As of today, there are a LOT on ebay which leads me to question my statements yesterday about the figure having stopped shipping. It's possible some of us might have another shot. Personally as I already have the figure, I'm keeping my eyes peeled for extras for board members.

Was at Wal-Mart today - before I even got to the toy department, I stumbled onto a 4-sided display in the middle of the aisle. Bat-cycles, Tumblers, Launching Batpods, and MM's. I'd say about 35-40 MM's - a mix of both versions of Batman, Scarecrow and numerous Thugs, including ones with the Grumpy mask. They were on sale for $11.96 I think. I guess that's a sale, I can't remember what they cost before. :huh: Anyway, might be worth a stop if your still looking to fill out your MM collection.

no,this is true.....the MM line was NOT meant to be the main focus,but rather,like you said,a little bonus for the collector-base out there...and they took off like a rocket,while the 5" line languishes on it's march into obscurity....and they were caught completely off guard...that's why you're not getting anything really new til next year:

1) it does take roughly a year from sculpting a prototype til a production piece goes on a peg...

2) they concentrated on getting the figures that were already made,the ones no one could find,to the consumer by ramping up production 110%..it took a few months,but now we're seeing the benefit (negative-overflow) of this by seeing MM pegwarming where 5 months ago they weren't...

nah,just cracked the whole upper part in half at the seams,not east at all, then just took out the old arms,put in the new ones,superglued the edges of the torso,and popped it back together...

I just went with the whole boil and pop method for my Scarecrow. It was easy, and it only took about 10 minutes. Probably the easiest custom I'll ever do.

Hello everybody this is my first post on SSH forums. Just wanted to give some Movie Master updates. I live down in Phoenix, AZ and on Thanksgiving day i was able to score a Ghoul Chase batman in one of those shippers that walmart had on the main floor. After going all over town on thanksgiving morning and black friday i was able to score a total of 2 ghoul chase batman figures. Thanks to those shippers at walmart. Out of 10 wal marts i went to, only 5 had the dark knight shippers. No Unmasked chase batman though.Anybody else have any luck at there local walmarts? I cant wait for the next 2 waves of MM's even though the wave 3 are just rehash figs to hold us over till wave 4. Even though wave 3 and 4 will be released after the dvd release hype i still think there will be much hype for these figures. I mean come on its batman and these figures are freakin awesome. I think as collectors if we keep supporting this action figure line that mattel will really listen to us on what figures we want to see in future waves and especially a movie master tumbler.

I just pray that the line lasts long enough to see the majority of characters made. Ideally, I'd wish for the line to be similar to Toy Biz' Marvel Legends. About 6 figures per wave, great sculpts, articulation, accessories, etc. I hope we get some new Joker variants further down the line (Bank Robber, Police Officer Disguise, Interrogation Room, Nurse Disguise).

The Tumbler isn't -that- big in real life! Like 15 feet long, 9 feet wide, and (I think) 5 feet at its highest point. The Mattel versions for the basic line actually -aren't- that undersized (and if they had accurate interiors, could easily fit two basic figures), and if those cost about $30, a Movie Masters version should, in a perfect world, run about $50.

It's funny because you can't find a single MM Joker anywhere in my town (I was lucky to grab one on the original release date back in the day), but there's a bajillion Batman/Joker 2 packs at TRU. It's like the best kept secret in town.

Is the Begins Batman really bigger now? Damn, his being so small is kind of a bummer, especially considering he's probably my favorite MM sculpt; I think he looks much better than TDK Batman (he's a bit too bulky for me, with the shoulder pads and all).

:hoboj: Just got back from my local Toys R Us down here in phoenix and i came across 3 of the Scarecrow/batman begins batman two packs. Someone on another thread said that the Batman begins figure was different in size or whatever, but i can tell you from holding the thing in my hand and having a single carded batman to compare to,nothing is different. It is the exact same batman begins movie master from the single carded line. No height change or different paint application. Scarecrow looked exactly the same as well with the exception of a little bit of a darker mask.So overall this two pack is absolutely nothing new. Although it was nice to see something slightly new on the dark knight toy shelf especially at toys r us.

Good for you, i got my MM batpod when they first came out and i love it. Mattel did a great job with the paint. Hope you girlfriend did get you the MM unmasked batman that sucker is so hard to find. I have only one unmasked chase batman that i got way back on May 1st when the line intially debuted. Compare that to the 4 Fear toxin chase batman figures i have. Heres to unmasked chase batman for you.

Hey no problem, just trying to help out my fellow collectors. When i saw them i was pretty stoked cause i heard the begins batman was going to be an updated version but unfortunately its the same sculpt. Still a great figure though. I really really wish toys r us would discount there toys. I've come across 2 unmasked 12inch ultimate batman figures this week but there still $30.00 bucks. Also the the Joker/Dark knight batman two pack is just sitting and for $23.99. It's called clearance Toys r us. Target does it all the time.

You know, a lot of the prices for MM figures are dropping on eBay, which makes me wonder if a lot of these are starting to crop up all over in retail.... I still haven't found any of the chase variants though.

You know i have noticed that. Which is funny because when i check the listings for "Dark Knight batman Chase" there are only about 50 auctions or so which is still reasonably low considering thats across the entire country. I think it has a lot to do with not only the economy but also The Dark Knight hype has died down a little. At least until wave 3 and wave 4 of movie masters are released LoL.

If I can't find the original Scarecrow, I might forgo it and just get the Wave 3 version because I think he looks cooler with his suit. I also wouldn't mind grabbing another Joker so I can keep one loose and one MOC. I'm not too concerned about Batpods cause everytime I go to my local Target, they're like spilling out into the aisle. I can't wait for Wave 4. And yeah, the BB exclusives are sweet. I got the Joker robbery mask set and then the Joker statue. I wish I could say I waited in the cold but being the bastard I am (a Best Buy employee), I was able to walk in at 8:45 and grab one. :woot: . I got my cold-weather-Batman-punishment when I did the viral where we got to see the trailer because it was about 30 degrees and raining in Chicago plus we were right off of the lake-front.

That's my hopes for all the MMs I don't have yet. My fiance didn't tell me anything she got me (she usually spills the beans right before Christmas) so knowing her knowing me, I think one of those bad boys will be a MM. It would truly be a joyous Christmas. That's why I'm glad I still collect figures and stuff because Christmas is still like when I was a kid opening up toys.

Wave 2 also only had 2 figures but we were treated to a chase figure which i dont think were getting with wave 3. If you think about it wave 3 is exactly like wave 2. One batman figure and one scarecrow figure. Just different versions of them. Pretty jacked up huh but we all know that we will pick them up even though they are just kit bashed figures. Damn you Mattel Damn youuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!

Lucky Lucky. I would have killed to have been in chitown to watch that trailer. Just like you i would have waited in the freezing cold. Here in AZ just like you said everytime i go to my local targets the MM Batpods are spilling off the shelf. thats 2 bad cause that is one sweet toy. It may be a bad sign however because if the sales for the batpod are lackluster that means no MM tumbler any time soon. I'll tell ya my best buy was not the most prepared but i still had a killer time waiting in line chattin with all the bat fans and discussing our different views on what the next film should entale. 2 me thats what its all about the fans and having a great time Ya know.

Get some aves for the goatee and it would work pretty good I think. I'm looking at the QT Crazy 88 and their heads and bodies are the same proportions as MM.

Attention everyone: The scarecrow versus taller begins batman 2 pack is now hitting TRU.
Is this actually confirmed to be a taller BEGINS Batman? Because thats all I was hoping for . . . I mean after all in REAL life and STORY wise the BEGINS suit was the bigger suit than TDK suit. BEGINS suit built for intimidation mode, and all out protection. TDK suit for speed and effeciency. This is the best news ever.
