it seems the second me and terra13 left, they shut it down. were they watching up there?

It turned off for an hour or so but came back up. I left at 12:30 after finally finding my car and it was still on.

So anyone got any news on the next event? When? Where? Gonna be any cooler than what we saw last night?

Also, does anyone know about www.citizensforbatman.org/midnight ?
If you type anything else in besides midnight, you get an error, but for some reason, this page is all black.

One thing that was dissapointed was that batman never showed up. He kinda makes me angry. I mean, why is there a batsignal????? So that batman will come to the rescue duhhhhhh. So where was he? We heard a rumor at the end of the night that a cop told someone there was going to be a bike. I was one of the 6 last people there before they shut the light out and I didn't see any bike. The only thing I saw was a little amish guy in a white car that sounded like a powerful harley. I said, here comes the joker!!! but it wasn't him.

Does anyone know what the deal was with the plane that was flying excessively close to the sears tower last night? That is a very very very restricted no fly zone, and that plane looked like it was no more than 200 feet away from hitting the top of the tower a few times. I have video of it, but have not uploaded it yet.

I just throught of this and may be stating the obvious, but what if all these papers are props from the movie? Not exaclty what was used, but copies of what is used from the movie.

Another note: Does anyone have an extra shirt from last night they would like to give away or sell? I want one for next weekend when 1, I go to six flags and ride TDK ride and 2, for when I see the movie next weekend!!!! Let me know. Thanks.

OK, an overall of the evening.

They started handing out all of the stuff WAY before 9. By the time we walked over from the bean. All the shirts were already pretty much gone. I was really frustrated at the fact that some people had like 3 shirts while others had none. I was there looking to get stuff to send to people that were overseas that couldn't obviously be in chicago ir NYC. But Alas....once again.
It makes me frustrated that this dude was walking around with a t-shirt on and one in his hands and he tied another shirt to a pole making it like a flag. I don't care if you are on this forum. And if you read this you're a jerk for flaunting your multiple swag. and not offering to those that didn't have any.
Every time I got anything I gave it to someone that didn't have anything.
Anyways.

The night was kinda a bust.
I got to meet a few people that were nice. We stayed till about 1....then as we were leaving they shut the light off.
Hopefully the people that they hire for Thursday wont suck as bad as these guys that were in charge of the swag. Boo on the swag guys.....

Thats all I have to say...
I know it's a rant......

oh, and wait, a plastic bag fell from somewhere in the direction of the bat signal...and most of us that were left were hoping for something awesome...just got a plastic bag from walgreens or something....thanks...

You forgot to mention that at one point, the plastic bag appeared to look like a batman mask!!!!! I was running like crazy, screaming " Yes, Finally, I'm glad I waited till midnight" Only to be dissapointed by a plastic bag that was empty. Oh well. It was fun watching that one guy dig everywhere; the trash under the paper box, the fence sign that looked like batman:o????

It was still a fun night to hang out and meet some people. The best part of the night was the massive mob that just took off into the street running in front of cars and such. Then the people that jumped about 10 feet to lower wacker from upper wacker. Those guys were nuts.

Wow, that sucks...Sorry it was such a let down...:csad:

Anyone cruel enough to use a CFB shirt as a flag should be beaten, on spot, by viral fans. No questions asked, just an old fashion throw down. We are Citizens for Batman after all...

First of all, kudos to you for giving away what little you were able to get your hands on, that is totally awesome, unselfish and the coolest thing a person could do for another one :). *hugs*

I'm also in agreement that is was totally not fair that some people had many shirts while others had none and what is worse is that they probably will horde all those shirts and not give any of them away and at best try to sell them on ebay leaving those of us who couldn't be there out in the cold :(.

Sorry the night was such a bust for y'all. Maybe 42 will learn a lesson from this mess and the Joker event tomorrow night might be a bit better organized...whatever it is.

Best part was the chucklehead who decided that when the pizza clue said head south, he went underground!!! That is some of the best footage I have seen in almost 10 years!!! Easily 400 people running down lower wacker with no Freakin idea where the fahq to go!!! Peolple rolling the windows up quick, I was with gobrutus and some lady asked us while we were running" Hey what you supporting?" and this is classic, go brutus stopped made a fist and yelled "Batman!!!" FREAKING PRICELESS!!!!:brucebat:

They should've got clearance and approval to run the damn Tumbler through the Chicago streets. That would've been amazing!

Guys and Gals the fact that you got to be there and even see part of the signal should be cool enough. That would definetly make one of the top ten stories I tell my grand babies. As far as swag goes....did you really expect anything different. In almost every event (football, concert etc.) not everyone gets a shirt or whatever. And even if they did there will still be atleast one person that will complaint that they didn't get two.

You gotta take the experience for what it was. If I had the money I would have flown out there for the night just to see the freakin thing. Just be happy:)

it may be restricted, but not forbidden. A lot of things like that can be done if you have good enough reason and time in advance to get FAA permission.

I'd love to see the video though.

The very first post on this thread shows a list of confirmed people. We should have all worked for each other, trying to get swag. All the extras should then have been divided amongst that list. Then, when everyone has one of everything, we hand out the rest to our fellow citizens in other cities that couldn't attend. After that, we can then hand out to friends and such. I'd like to see this happen for the Joker thing. People on this thread should get things, then the people that couldn't make it because of one reason or the other, then do what you want with the rest.

I already know I won't make it which I'm dissapointed in. I'll be watching the site, but I'm leaving to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan tomorrow and won't be back until Sunday. If the bomb blows and gives a clue for something happening next week, I'll def be there. If something happens this weekend though, CFB should grab as much stuff as possible!!! For me and for everyone else that won't be around.

Batman4evr
07-09-2008, 10:28 AM
Not necessarily. I've already whitnessed about 5 or 6 people willing to trade/give away extras that they have. If those people get there first and grab everything and run, they can then later distribute all the stuff to everyone evenly!!!

I gotta say for this being such a huge turnout...I was kinda disapointed that all we did was stare at a signal for 2 hours. Yeah the free swag was cool and all but if this was the last and final viral...compared to the ones where we saw previews, the prolog, ect ect ect this one was kinda weak. I thought for sure the tumbler was gonna race by us or something while we waited at the sears tower.

Oh well

Yeah, screw pole-guy. Did you know he actually had 3 shirts? He had a third one tucked in his newspaper real tight.

I asked him if he had an extra he could spare. He looked at me for a moment, clearly trying to think up an excuse, and then stumbled for a sec and mumbled a lie about having it for his sister or something. I could tell he was hoping I didn't see the THIRD shirt in his paper.

The guys handing out stuff were real stingy about giving people multiple pins...why weren't they stingy about handing out multiple shirts to the same guy?

Yeah that shirt guy sucked...he handed them out too early. That should have been something for the people who stayed late. After the signal appered and we noticed nothing else was going down about 1/2 the people left. Around 10:30 or 11 he should have taken out the shirts and said..thanks for supporting batman all night. BUT NO he had to throw them out at 8:45.

I wanna know what the deal was with the guy and the bullhorn... he sounded a tornado siern on it for about 10mins. which was for nothing?

All and all I had a lot of fun last night. I already work downtown so I didn't have to go out of my way. Even running up and down Wacker like jackasses was a little fun. I wish there was something more, but free swag always makes me happy.

Oh, yeah. Boo to people who were swag hording. There were some people who really got extras to give to people who didn't get any, those guys rocked. But 3 t-shirt dude and others were just being retarded. I was happy with a t-shirt, keychain, and paper. But some people just kept getting more of stuff they had already. If it weren't for them everyone would have got almost everything.

They were part of the act. He whispered it to a few of us. The t-shirt were handed out early so everybody would be in CFB get-up for the scavenger hunt, which was the main event. It was kind of cool seeing a faceless mob all in the same shirt, but it was hard finding your friends out of that crowd.

He was security for the buildings that the plaza we were meeting in was between. I guess 42 didn't tell them about the event and he was kicking us out. It's completely understandable. If you were a security guard and your one job is to protect these buildings, what would you do about hundreds of people in black crowding around yelling and screaming?

You'd be surprised how close they can get to the building these days. I work in the Tower and we usually get an email from the building when the helicopters might get close - Yesterday we did not - however, they have definitely relaxed the no-fly zone in the last three years or so ...

He was security for the buildings that the plaza we were meeting in was between. I guess 42 didn't tell them about the event and he was kicking us out. It's completely understandable. If you were a security guard and your one job is to protect these buildings, what would you do about hundreds of people in black crowding around yelling and screaming?as a former rent-a-cop, i would have join you guys out there!!!:brucebat:

hahaha, I was actually one of the first people to notice the guy with all the buttons and keychains when we were on the North Side of the Sears. I asked him for one and when he said no, I screamed "KEYCHAINS" and thats when everyone mauled him!!

Yeah it seems that they were not prepared for this event. I would have thought that with the trailer hunt they would have done it better.

They should have realized that with each event that more and more people are going to participate.

I am sorry that you did not get swag. That sucks.

Hahahaha, well, I guess this serves as a response to everyone I heard saying, "Hey, isn't that where...?" yesterday in the chat and on here:

From an article in the Chicago Tribune regarding the promise of TDK:

And a highly destructive chase scene makes the finest use of Lower Wacker Drive since Jake and Elwood took those cops for a spin in "The Blues Brothers."

No mention of yesterday's events that I've found yet, but I thought it was funny that I saw this when a bunch of people I talked to thought it looked like a place they used in the movie, but maybe they were imagining it. Guess it's true.

Probably - I imagine it's all been paid for already.

I'm imagining an event like this, just rounding based on shirt costs, gotham times costs, hiring people, etc.

for both NY & Chicago combined. A rough estimate of....$50,000 went into this event, because they probably also needed to pay to shine the signals onto the buildings as well as pay the people that own the building the signal is on top of.

There's a screening being put on by a local comic shop, they originally had it scheduled for thursday the 17th at 9pm but for some reason had to have it changed to this sunday at 7pm at the Navy Pier IMAX. A small-medium amount of tickets were being sold to the public, and they think that since the screening had to be changed that some people will not be able to go, in that case their tickets will be resold. I would suggest calling the Chicago Comic Vault on Montrose to get your name on the waiting list for repooled tickets. This is an opportunity to see TDK in IMAX 5 days early

When taking pictures like that, the important thing is to let a lot of light into the camera, and any camera that gives you manual control over the exposure can get you pictures like that. Those pictures were taken with a five second exposure, but the S3 lets you go up to 15 seconds. Obviously, when using longer exposures it is very important that your camera (and your subject) stays very still.

anything on the card or just a joker card?

I am guessing we are going to be meeting back up at the signals tomorrow night when they are jokerized...can't wait.

My buddy and me saw the paper boy with dreads hand the kid dressed as the Joker something. They tried sneaking off and we followed them and asked what was up. They showed us the card and said that he had told them it was "time to disperse". They just took off for their car so we went back to try to tell the crowd. What D-Bag for not letting people know.

Ok!! I am a desperate man here!!

I am looking for 1 ticket to the Woodridge show for the show on Tuesday night.

Here is what I have up for grabs!

Here is an authentic crew t-shirt from the set. Its a shirt I got from the crew while working on the movie for 7 days last summer. I played a cop named Sgt Andy Spellman and 3 other small roles. You can verify that on my imdb page. Hell, even Rory Bat can confim it! Sorry the shirt is a little wrinkly, its been folded in a box in my storage. I wore a navy blue coloured one to Wizard World this year and someone offered me $60 for it. Another guy right on the floor offered me $80 plus to buy me a new shirt from a booth to wear home. The shirt is an L size. I never wanted to part with anything cool I have like this from the movie but here it is in hopes of going to see the movie early!

Or I have A copy of the single disc soundtrack. I had it since Friday and offered it up all weekend but now it isnt such a big deal since it comes out tommorrow.

Or I have this. You all know what this is. Heavily scalped and hard to find. It is also the first version face, not the new one shipping in the Scarecrow wave.

Non-TDK related or I have this as well.

An exclusive TRU colour Spartan EVA from the new Halo 3 line. I picked up an extra for a friend but he got it also before I talked to him. I'm offering it up here before I return it.

So there it is. You can pm me, email me newtypejuggalo@hotmail.com[/EMAIL">newtypejuggalo@hotmail.com"]newtypejuggalo@hotmail.com (<A href="mailto:newtypejuggalo@hotmail.com)
or even call my cell at 815-671-8023 since we are so close and down to the wire!

Something about this particular scene where Dent is being transported kept "bugging" me - the location looked familiar:

After doing a relatively quick check in Google Earth, I found out why it was "bugging" me.

This was the last spot that "they" took us to during the Citizen's for Batman "rally" in Chicago, when the batsignal on the Sears Tower was lit. Here's the image from Google Earth (with 3D buildings enabled), and our ending location noted in red on one of the corners:

So, all of us who attended the "rally", also got treated to visiting one of the filming locations for the movie.

Yup, I noticed that when i first seen the film. Also in the scene where the ferries are leaving the docks is Navy Pier.
