The official Into The Pixel web site give us our first conceptual look at Half-Life 2 (http://kotaku.com/tag/half_life-2/): Episode Three with this moody painting of, we assume, protagonist Gordon Freeman facing down the Advisor seen in previous episodes. Obviously, fans of the game know that Gordon has a serious beef with the Advisor following the events of Episode Two, but this hardly seems like a fair fight. Don't bring a crowbar to a telekinesis fight, Gordo. While unconfirmed — the art is listed under "Half Life EP3" — it may lead to more speculation that the final episode in the Half-Life 2 trilogy will make an appearance at E3 2008. That's been denied (http://kotaku.com/5020376/will-half+life-2-episode-three-be-at-e3-valve-says-no) by Valve spokesfolk, but you know how they love to twist words.
Potentially good news for consoles owners of the Sony persuasion is that the official Into The Pixel listing tags the game as seeing release on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Bigger look after the jump.

Me either. I have EP1 & 2, but I got stuck in one area and ever since I went back to WOW, I haven't had the time to play it since. Maybe someday...

Nice. I really can't wait to get my hands on Episode 3.
I wonder how you'll have to take out the Advisors. (?)

Same here, about a third of the way through. Still a top class game, and a great package.

I'm about halfway through Episode 1 and got bored with it. It's been several months since I played it.
I wonder about Episode 3, if it will be available over Live Arcade or if it'll be in stores for 60 bucks

Hopefully it will just be down loadable content.

DLC will probably be the way to go, but I'm sure they'll do a disc version too. I played and beat 2 and Episodes 1 and 2, though I only actually found myself really enjoying episode 2. Its probably because I wasn't playing it on PC, how it was meant to be played. That and the PS3 load times were the death of me.

I imagine it will be downloadable. I also think they'll include it in "The Orange Box 2" or some other colored box.
Half-Life 2: Episode 3
Half-Life: Source
Counter Strike 2
maybe Left 4 Dead
and of course Portal 2
That seems about right for a new Orange Box compilation.
P.S. I liked Episode 1.:o

Looks like the The Borealis is encased/fused into a wall. It was originally suppose to appear in the original Halflife 2, they even created a level for it, but it wasn't inside ice/wall. Looks cool.

Yeah, there are rumors that the Air Exchange is back too. It's possible that's what the concept are you posted is supposed to be.

A morsel of new information.
We'll probably get to see Episode Three later in the year. Of course, knowing Valve a more accurate estimate would be early 2009.:yay:
Kikizo: When are we going to start to hear about Episode Three? Because the gaps seem to be quite long based on the first couple of episodes.
Lombardi: Yeah, the next time you play as Gordon will be longer than the distance between HL2 to Ep1, and Ep1 to Ep2.
Kikizo: Won't you announce or show anything on Episode 3 this year?
Lombardi: We may at the very end of the year.

Freaking 2010. By then, shouldn't our attention be shifring to the actual Half-Life 3? Or is Valve planning to wait until 2017 for that?

The 2 episodes that are already out and Episode 3 are Half-Life 3
Valve stated as such 2 years ago (http://pc.ign.com/articles/711/711560p1.html)

If the episodes were Half-Life 3, then they would be titled as such. They may constitute a third game, but they aren't "Half-Life 3".

Valve considers all 3 episodes to be Half-Life 3. In the article from IGN, the writer mentioned that throughout their interview with Gabe Newell, he referred to the episodes as Half-Life 3.
Therefore, all 3 episodes are Half-Life 3

We'll see. I'm pretty damn sure that when Valve announces the next full Half-Life game they won't be referring to these episodes as "Half-Life 3" then.

You don't have to go and find articles. I've probably read them before, anway. I'm not an idiot, I know their marketing line is that they "consider" these episodes to be Half-Life 3.
I'm just saying don't be surprised in a couple of years when they announce a "real" Half-Life 3.

Why? The storyline ends with episode 3. The franchise may continue, but the next game might not be related to the others
Soapy
10-16-2008, 04:03 PM
Of course the next game will be related to the others. Yes, the storyline does indeed end with Episode 3; The Half-Life 2 storyline. But whos to say they won't build on the current story with Half-Life 3 the same way Half-Life 2 built upon the first game?
Addendum

Valve considers the 3 episodes Half-Life 3, even if some don't like it. But continue beating the dead horse because the title confuddles you
