Honestly, I think this film is gonna have a huge budget. So far I see 10 pictures of a new vehicle from the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen set report every week! There might be over 15 'bots in this movie!
So, my estimate is atleast 200 million, maybe as high as 250 million. What do you guys think?

My god...i really can't believe that it takes all this money to make a 2h movie. Some people are ridiculously overpaid. I'm sure the cities and such are asking for more than they should as well. And to say people starve while these guys have ease throwing around their millions as if nothing were to it.

I'd ballpark it at $200 million. The first one was about $150 million, cheaper than it looks, because Spielberg got the ILM discount from his buddy Lucas. I'm guessing this one will look like it costs 250-300 million, but will cost around $200.

this one should also have 150 milions and you could still do a bigger movie. more money doesnt always mean bigger.

Paramount forced to suspend $450m financing
By Matthew Garrahan in Los Angeles
Published: July 15 2008 00:12 | Last updated: July 15 2008 01:28
The credit crunch has hit home in Hollywood after Paramount Pictures, which has released a string of hit movies this year, was forced to suspend plans for a $450m film financing.
The studio has been working with Deutsche Bank on financing that would have provided funds for up to 30 films, including possible blockbusters such as the sequel to Transformers and a new version of Star Trek.
A person familiar with the negotiations said Paramount had walked away from the agreement because the terms had become too onerous. ”The terms had become unattractive compared with alternative sources of financing available to Paramount,” he said.
Although another bank may yet step in and rescue the package Paramount is likely to have to put the financing on ice until credit markets stabilise. Liquidity has dried up and although film slate deals can generate lucrative returns, potential lenders are steering clear of asset classes that are not triple-A rated
Both Paramount and Deutsche Bank declined to comment.
Under the Deutsche deal, which would have also covered Tropic Thunder, the new Ben Stiller comedy, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which stars Brad Pitt, the syndicate assembled by the bank would have taken a 25 per cent stake in each of the 30 films.
But while Deutsche was able to assemble the equity and junior debt component, the credit freeze meant the bank could not generate interest in the deal’s senior debt component
In the last few years Wall Street has beat a path to the door of Hollywood studios, with lenders and investors eager to share in the glamour and potential returns of the film industry.
With the cost of movie production spiralling, bringing in outside partners allows studios to offset the risk attached to making and distributing their film slates. However, as the credit crunch has started to bite, Wall Street has retreated with several banks, including Dresdner, moving out of film financing.
While Deutsche’s decision to close its film unit is a blow for Paramount, the films affected by the deal are still likely to be released as scheduled.
But if the studio fails to revive the deal with another bank it could force Paramount to seek funds from Viacom, the media conglomerate that owns the studio, to produce the titles. This would expose the company to greater financial risk if the films fail to perform as expected.

Name the last big budget sequel whose budget wasn't more than the original. It really doesn't happen.

Bay could probably make a good film with $200~, the first one looked more then what it was worth.

Okay... But my point stands that TF2 is undoubtedly going to be more expensive than the original.

Hasn't Megan Fox stated on TFW2005 that the Budget for TF2 was DOUBLE the one that TF1 had?

yes, but that could be in jest on her behalf.

Meh. Watch this space (http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=transformers2.htm). When the budget finally does get confirmed (or even hinted at realistically) then that page will no doubt have the details. Until then there's not a lot of point making silly announcements.

Until Paramount and Micheal Bay give an official announcement about the budget I won't believe anything. I'm predicting the budget will be somewhere in the range of 200-225million. A budget of 300million seems absurd considering how good ILM were at creating the cgi in Transformers 1 on a budget of 150million.

Shia will make the budget even higher.

Transformer is a franchise that I can actually see hitting that kinda budet. Those Bots are more complicated to animate than most cgi-intensive movies.

yeah venom i agree, does anybody know the budget of the first transformers? they have to had overshot that mark.

then they must have like a 250 mill going on right now.
Venom

The first film achieved alot more than its budet would imply. They saved alot because GM sponsored the cars, and Michael Bay cut his director's fees. They also used the CGI scenes sparingly, probably why most of Prime vs Megs & Bumblebee vs Barricade was offscreen.

didnt they get alot of funding from the military as well? michael bay had alot of connections with the military, but since transformers was a huge success, they have to have a bigger budget movie to add cooler fight scenes

Yeah the military helped out. In return, they got a huge recruitment advertisement called Transformers: The Movie.

yeah that was one of the only things that upset me about the movie, i mean its ok to get funding from the military but it didnt have to be litrally the movie, like the decepticon attacking the base was sweet but it got out of hand as the movie went along.

How? What is wrong with the US Military chipping in to get some recruitment time on the silver screen?

I didn't mind the military presence in the film, but I didn't like that the military could take out the Decepticons so easily. It eliminates the threat of the Decepticons, and takes away the need for the Autobots. Even Megatron was getting owned by airstrikes. The Cube to the chest was only the finishing touch, he was basically beaten already.

Um, WTF is that supposed to mean? If your going to be all negative and **** and not even view the link then don't even bother posting. For those of you who are'nt ***s, you can view the link in my previous post that confirms the 300 million dollar budget.

Considering that computer graphics keep getting better and more inexpensive, aside from actor salaries, it might not even have to cost as much as the first movie did.

Um, WTF is that supposed to mean?
It means I'm pointing out that you are spamming the same nonsense you posted last month. Please stop. It's not even funny.
If your going to be all negative and **** and not even view the link then don't even bother posting.
I viewed the link. It looked very familiar. Then I noticed it was the same person, citing the same source, making the same exclamation as last month.
For those of you who are'nt ***s, you can view the link in my previous post that confirms the 300 million dollar budget.
It only confirms the budget to people who can't work out that $300 million US would be the highest budgeted movie in history. In other words a completely ridiculous claim.
Therefore, shut up with your "OMG! 300 million confirmed!!!!!" posts, because a.) They are laughably bad, b.) Nobody cares, and c.) They aren't even succeeding at propagating your attempt at sparking a rumour. :whatever:

Okay, WarBlade. **** you. Here are some of the reasons why I should report you:
A. I was trying to be helpful and was in no way spamming.
B. Some people DO care and would like to know this information.
C. It does'nt matter how I present the information, even if I'm excited about it and decide to put exclamation points, it does'nt mean you should get all pissy and disregard it completely.
D. You should'nt insult someone for trying to provide information whether you like it or not. some people might find this other article useful, you never know.
E. This is a new article! Not the same one!
WarBlade
08-20-2008, 11:32 PM
A. There is nothing helpful in repeating information that you've already posted.
B. They are waiting patiently for a reputable source and probably don't want your rumours confusing the issue.
C. I'm calling it out (again) for the falsehood it is and I also don't believe it is me that has the greatest claim to being the "pissy" one.
D. Can I insult someone for unwanted spamming then?
E. Regardless of the newness of the article (17th of last month), you are doing nothing better than citing the exact same source (Megan Fox's forgettable 16th of July quote) as you used last time.
Again, stop it already. The 'information' isn't new. It's not an official release. You've already posted it and every time you come up with it you're achieving nothing better than bad rumour mongering attempts. When the budget is known it will be talked about and you can get excited about it then. Until then zip it please.

Alright, whatever. I'm not gonna argue with you over and over again because other people are probably just waiting for us to stop so they can post!
I'm sorry if you felt I was spamming, I only wished that you would have said it a little nicer.
