You can make a list of books you've read here, update it as you like, and discuss anything you might be reading. Although try to keep discussions to a minimum so we don't branch off into too many topic debates.

An Unfinished Life
Plan of Attack (The plan to invade Iraq)
Richard Clarke's Your Government Has Failed You
A Legacy of Ashes (A detailed history of CIA intelligence failures)
Brothers (Robert and John F. Kennedy)
FDR
Barack Obama: The Audacity of Hope
Von Clauswitz's On War
Sun-Tzu's The Art of War
Jim Stopanni's Encyclopedia for Muscle and Strength
Bruce Lee: Mind and Body
Tom Platz's Encyclopedia of Bodybuilding
Tucker Max
David Sedaris You are Engulfed in Flames
Flyboys
Watchmen (again)
Bill Clinton's My Life
....that's all I can think of at the moment.

Don't we have a book thread?

I searched "book", unfortunately, that yielded way to many results. So if someone finds it, I guess we can merge.

I seriously don't understand why people read the art of war still. I think you'll come to the same conclusion after reading it as I did...that the only people who would get anything out of it are motivational speakers for businesses, but even then the knowledge is so common that anyone could read it and realize they already understand most of the "strategic" principles in it and how one could use them in everyday life.

That said, I actually really like Von Clausewitz, one of the first strategists I read about.

My list is small because college and work take up too much time:
Audacity of Hope-Barack Obama

The Joker (the new graphic novel due out in October-Forgot who writes, but Bermejo is involved and that is good enough for me.

Einstein-Walter Isaacson

Flatland-Edwin Abbott

And I'd like to finish up:

Genome-Matt Ridley

Yeah, I wasn't impressed with The Art of War to be honest. On War was basically a far better version of Sun-Tzu, anyways.

It's pretty much always on the first page.

What's the last book you read? (http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=219330)

My god, it's the middle of August.
Right now I'm reading Spring's Awakening by Frank Wedekind with an Intro by Eric Bentley. I only had some minor info on the censorship and banning of this book/play, I've learned a lot so far from the intro.
I just finished Abarat II Days of Magic, Nights of War.
Ex Machina vol 5 & 6
Walking Dead vol 8
SAS Survival Handbook: How to Survive in the Wild
Wednesday Witch
Beowulf GN
The Pursuit of Happyness

I'm pretty sure I'm missing something.

It's okay, I'm not big on romance, so that aspect of the books I wouldn't recommened. I ended up picking the series up because everyone at school was talking abou it. Least favorite is Eclipse, it really annoyed me. Everyone treats Bella likes she 5..

Catch-22, Joseph Heller

And as far as the Twilight books go, I crack up at all the haters on the books. Especially the most recent one.

LOL I feel so bad for people who've read it.

I read a chapter by chapter play by play of the book out of curiosity and just laughed my butt off at the commentary.

Did I waste my time reading the book?

No.

Was I going to mention other parts that might spoil it for someone who might not be done reading it/hasn't read it yet?

No.

No.

So you're criticizing a book you haven't read based on some summaries you read online. Ok, that makes sense.

Also, we have spoiler tags for a reason.

I recently read "I Married a Communist" by Phillip Roth. The first two times I got deathly bored and stopped reading, then later came back to it and started over from the beginning.

Despite the tedium of the reading process, that was probably the most rewarding thing I ever read. The last two pages made me feel like I was actually experiencing that transcendent "art taking you to a place emotionally that you didn't expect to go" thing.
