Ricky Martin Adopts Twin Boys

Pop star Ricky Martin has adopted twin boys, born to a surrogate mother.
Martin, 36, who is currently single, plans to take a long break from showbusiness to raise the kids.
In a statement, the Livin' La Vida Loca singer-turned-humanitarian's spokesperson says, "The children, delivered via gestational surrogacy, are healthy and already under Ricky's full-time care.
"Ricky is elated to begin this new chapter in his life as a parent and will be spending the remainder of the year out of the public spotlight in order to spend time with his children."
Martin joins the ranks of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt and fellow Puerto Ricans Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, who also became parents of twins this year.
Hmm...the evidence just keeps piling up. But, you know, congrats to him.

it is odd considering there are many women out there that would want to bear his children. He may be gay but this isn't much proof.

It is for me. I have no problem with gay men or women, i'm cool with you if you're cool with me, just stop hiding it. Be proud of who you are. There is to much evidence to prove other wise, vacationing with "trainer", refuses to say one way or the other, no stalkerazzi photos caught with any chicks, and now this.

I thought we knew Martain was gay in 1999? This is just more proof of something we already knew from the get-go, something that some people would like to ignore for one reason or another.

^I just don't know why he has to lie in interviews about it when could just say no comment? That would still be a yes but atleast it wouldn't be a lie that nonbody believes and he would have a right to say no because it isn't any of our business anyway.

The thing that worries me is that there were rampant rumors that Ricky was molested as a boy by Menudos manager or something to that effect...oddly enough the person the rumors were about were Eric and Lyle Menendez father...and we know what eventually happened to him and the stated reason why.
I just...I dont know...theres a cycle of abuse, you know. Im not going to pas judgement on all victims (or in this case, alleged victim) but its enough to make me feel uncomfortable in this case.

Well, his career was built on songs like "Living La Viva Loca", so him being perceived as a heterosexual was pretty important. But I'm glad he finally have the peace of mind to tell the world the truth about himself, although it is hardly surprising. I'm hoping Kevin Spacey will be next.

^ There were pics taken of Spacey in a "passionate embrace" or something with a guy in a park which were published by a tabloid. He sued on the grounds the pics were an invasion of privacy but didn't dispute their authenticity. He also refused to answer the question with Barbara Walters because he said "my sexual orientation is completely irrelevant". So yea, Kevin Spacey is probably gay.
As for Ricky Martin....I don't think this shocks anyone's socks off.
I saw it on Yahoo news and was kind of just like "well, yea".

If you are gay, and you want children, you either adopt, or go through a surrogate which he did. That has absolutely nothing to do with having an attraction to women, it means you want a child.

Unlike someone flamboyant as Clay Aiken and Adam Lambert where you can tell from miles away their gay I didn't feel that way about Ricky. I always thought he was pretty reserved and just wanted his privacy since I think he would show up with women at events.
He sure fooled me.
ok, two things:
1) duh.
2) attention whore. in 2004, no one cared about the guy--the tsunami happens, he goes over there and does A LOT of needless press conferences, with a lot of cameras, mics and all that. I guessed he felt alright for a while (thank god for the tsunami, he sang). A couple of years later he did the same thing. And now, again.. what's he going to do in 2 years, I wonder

Like Holiday said, how about single parents or even divorcees who raised their children alone? It is unrealistic to expect that every children must have the benefit of having both father & mother while growing up.

Whether through divorce, death, not being married in the first place, having an uncaring mate, prison, having their kids taken from them by the state, or even giving up their kids voluntarily to a grandparent to raise.....hundreds of thousands of kids are not being raised by the standard male/female parenting duo. Shall all of these children be taken from thier provider and given to a male/female parenting team?

I notice that the American media doesn't really go and scrutinize Ricky about his coming out, it's pretty much become the norm here for celebrities to come out of the closet that most of don't care who's gay or not.
But the Spanish media can be downright brutal since their still thinking in the dark ages that they'll spend hours of TV talking trash about celebrities, just look at any news show on Univision, Telemundo, Telefutura where they all make it a big media circus.

I always figured there was a possibility, but didn't really matter...
My feelings too.....there are plenty of celebs that I think could be gay....but that's just a passing thought, nothing I spend any time thinking about. I care about how a person treats me, my family, my friends, and the people around them more than what color, age, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, etc that they are.

Here's my problem with his sudden "coming out";
First off, I have no problem with anybody being who they are or being true to what they are. I do, however, have a problem with someone using that aspect of themselves to grab a quick headline. What's with all these celebs coming out after they're careers go south? It feels like they're desperate for attention. I would respect Ricky more had he done this while "La Vida Loca" was on the charts. But he couldn't, because that would have upset his female fans, right? Ridiculous. The man hasn't sold a record in over a decade. Why come out now? What's the point? To offset some tabloid story that would probably get buried on page 3 & go pretty much unnoticed? What could possibly be so fascinating about the sex life of someone who has done absolutely nothing important, significant, noteworthy, interesting, entertaining or even slightly amusing since Clinton was in office?

It's just annoying. This is why celebs have such a hard time maintaining privacy. And gays are so quick to say they don't want that trait to be what defines them in the public eye, but they make it their defining trait when they announce it after having been out of the spotlight for years.
