It's stunning the contrast isnt it? Outside of this thing, McCain is all but calling Obama a terrorist, here, he acts civil. If he had kept this tone in his campaign, focused on issues, he wouldn't be in danger of losing that he is now.

Uhhh...no. Those attacks are recent. He's been getting his ass handed to him because people don't trust trickle down economics to bail us out of our financial crisis.

Oh I know. Their entire campaign has been an attack on his character. First it was that he's too much of a celebrity. Now it's that he's a terrorist. The recent stuff is dangerous, especially in a country with a history of racism and religious prejudice. Ironic too when you consider that this country was founded to get AWAY from religious persecution.

As an African American I didn't sense racism in McCain's THAT-ONE snark. Its shamefulness can be understood thus, rather: McCain senses he is not winning this debate, not getting through to the American people, and not collecting the electoral college he needs tonight. Didn't Obama oppose Iraq? Saddam gassed the Kurds, did he not? Tried to wipe Iraq of them? Stinks of hypocrisy, IMO.

President Bush did not go into Iraq to save the Iraqis from genocide. He went in to dispose of the Iraqi government, because there apparently was evidence which suggested Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. Had President Bush said that the reasons we were going to war dealt explicitly with genocide, instead of the phony-bologna weapons of mass destruction line he gave, more people probably would have been on board to invade Iraq.

Additionally, the genocide in Iraq was ten years prior to the invasion of Iraq. So invading Iraq and ridding Darfur of genocide are not mutually exclusive to one another. Therefore, I do not see the hypocrisy in his statement.

This debate is ridiculous. Obama is just pissing on the rules of the debate and McCain is acting like a little kid. "If he gets a response, I want one too!" "Thank you very much! hehehehe!"

It's not a debate anymore. McCain isn't going to talk about real issues... you know, the factual kind, to draw Obama off the issues... And plus, the rules shouldn't protect candidates lying. McCain OR Obama.

Didn't Obama oppose Iraq? Saddam gassed the Kurds, did he not? Tried to wipe Iraq of them? Stinks of hypocrisy, IMO.

Those weren't the reasons that the US invaded Iraq. The administration tried to make a connection between Iraq and Al-Qaeda and there was also some WMDs that they supposedly had.

Besides, Saddam gassed the Kurds in 1988, when he was a friend of the United States.

McCain came off as a senile child. It seems like a contradiction but he pulled it off somehow.

So yeah, both performed like crap...so draw.

That said, McCain had to win tonight. Obama didn't. McCain has lost a lot more from this performance than Obama.

Obama, in my opinion, barely won this debate. Despite his constant rule breaking and failure to address the questions, McCain acted the same way. Many of McCain's answers were awkward, he seemed to push the same talking points he pushed two weeks ago, and he threw attacks out there which have been refuted time and time again [meeting with foreign dictators without preconditions, raising taxes on the middle class, etc.].

Basically, my decision came down to this: McCain was on the offense, Obama on the defense. The pointed, personal attacks were far more abundant from McCain; and the majority of the time Obama mentioned McCain, it was in response to attacks which came from McCain to begin with.

I kept hoping he would put them in time out or something like give them a punishment... but it was like a parent whos child learned that they are all bark and no bite.

I can't vote because I'm somewhere between "draw" and Obama won.

Well, what could he really do? If they both want to spit in his face, he can't really do much.

Neither followed the rules and came of as childish, I'll agree there. However, I still feel Obama won. Despite acting like a child, he had better answers. McCain used the same zingers as debate one. Nothing was different.

Like the first debate, it's going to be more about behavior than the actual substance (which is a wash of nothing but talking points). McCain's "that one" comment is already being picked up on by focus groups and consequently the media. Also, Obama just has a much calmer demeanor than McCain, which goes over far better with those coveted, undecided independent voters.

Can you blame them? Angela Lansbury is hotter than Michelle Obama and Cindy McCain combined.

Maybe if Brokaw had ripped off his belt, folded it over in half and gave McCain and Obama both bare ass spankings with it on national television for not following the rules and disobeying him you'd feel differently? I bet the Nelson ratings for the Castro District in San Francisco and the East Village in NYC would have shot through the roof!

Lol, I love Nora. She just brought home the fact that a Penn independant is a euphamisim for an Obamavoter.

Negative don't work in the Tri-State area. Newsflash McCain.

No, he did not. McCain did lose the ELECTION tonight, though...unless of course a picture of Obama shaking hands with Bin Laden comes out on October 30th, McCain is done.
I'll agree with that.

I honestly thought Bob Dole was going to be the standard of bad campaigns for the next 50 years...then Kerry comes and takes the throne...and then McCain comes and trumps them both. Mind boggling.

McCain increasingly reminds me of Bob Dole and Obama has a little Clinton swagger to him. But he's still no Bill Clinton.
